Came for a drive out to check out this cache. Climbed up and was not to long before it was spotted. Body telling me know more as has been an intense 2 weeks of Gold Coast and Brisbane hikes and Hill climbs. Will be back on my next Gold Coast visit and now solved it is a target. Thanks for placing, next time. On a caching holiday from Mackay. In the search of old caches and ones to fill DT grid spaces. Thanks for placing this cache for our enjoyment with mackay_geocaching. Have mostly had clear sunny days on our trip.

I climbed fairly high, perhaps not high enough, but I couldnt find the cache. I had a cockatoo keep an eye on me
It has been a long day, punctuated with less than four hours sleep, a flight, completing a full DT grid on multiple Saturdays, congestion on the M1, a scattering of ashes of my beloved Aunty, Uncle and Grandmother in the Tweed river and watching roses float out to sea, a wandering around point danger, an old multi and a drive back up this way. Sadly looking back it seems that my uncle had his life cut too short, but I didn’t want to joint them just yet attempting this tree. I searched around for a bit and it seems that previous finders found it in other locations according to my recollection of their stories (told a while back when I popped down here in years gone by), but I’m happy to have found it at all. It did look to be in a tricky spot, with a fun little pull up to get you pretty close to the finish line.
Certainly wrapt to have nabbed it. Now just one short of loop 8.
Thanks monkey maker. Very aptly named as you’ve made another one here.

I can’t even tell you the amount of times that we have been to this tree! On one previous expedition, the cache had been spotted but was just out of reezielous reach, and let’s face it, there was no way I was climbing that high , so we hadn’t been able to sign the log. This time, we had kellygang37 with us who was excited by the prospect of a tree climb. Up up up! She was so comfortable up there scrambling from side to side while reezielou and I tried to spot the hide from below. Having found it a previous time was no help at all!
Finally the call from kellygang37 that she spotted it and then facepalms all round when we realised she didn’t have a pen! I mean, do you even cache!!!! Down she came to collect a pen and back up to complete signing duties. This is a great tree and a great hide but I must admit that I’m glad this one is finally off the list and we don’t have to come back here again
Thanks for the cache monkey maker, this one definitely calls for some monkey madness!

This one has been solved for some time and the attempt to retrieve has unfortunately not occurred due to the wobbly legs and sweaty palms and the I don’t think I can reach that. Today however we came back with high hopes as we had Kellygang with us who turns out to be able to navigate a tree climb with the confidence I lack.
Up she went whilst Krcamber and I tried to recall exactly where she should look. When we last saw this one it was an eclipse tin. After reading some more recent logs it was confined we were now looking for something else, and all of a sudden the words we all like to hear “I found it”. Then the face palm moment was realised Kellygang didn’t have a pen. A quick shimmy back down and an exchange of pen and off she went again. Looking somewhat comfortable in the arms of the tree out names were finally added.
Such a great tree. Tftc

That was a great challenge! Even with clear instructions from a previous finder it took me 20min and a good physical workout!

Today back down the coast for another paddle and for some other caches. I had few target caches today.
In the end I found 31. The breakdown is 11 traditional, 4 mystery, community celebration and 3 adventure labs with 15 waypoints.
One cache I found was with previous finder for some help. This is my third attempt. Yippee
I had a fun day today. Sorry for the generic log.

This puzzle cache must have been one that I solved back in 2018-2019 when we were making infrequent trips to the Gold Coast to visit jesswrigley's family. It obviously wasn't too hard, and a puzzle that had been waiting for me to visit at some point. I remember seeing this geocache's attractive D-T rating during our recent visits to the GC, however there were either strings of DNFs that I didn't feel like wasting my time with, or it wasn't really a visit to do with the family.
Today, it was the planned [Sand, Salt, Sun; Seaway Summer](https://coord.info/GC8K0CV) Community Celebration Event, and it was an opportunity to integrate a couple of other Gold Coast kayak adventures. My first stop was at Oxenford for [Gilligan's Island](https://coord.info/GC6YJ8B), and then it was a drive to Jabiru Island for a subsequent kayak launch. It was then a tiring 10.3 km paddle along Coombabah Creek targeting the *Float Your Boat* series. The last kayak stop was Wave Break Island, and a memory lapse had me arrive only towards the event's end, as I had thought it was an all-day gathering.
With the kayak packed away for the day, it was then time to visit a few strategic geocaches in the vicinity, which included a serious tree climb, a tough hide, and a strategic Southport boatshed geocache, before driving towards Sinnamon Park to meet the family. After a water park frolic, we then joined other Geocachers to close out the day at the [Squinterville Christmas Community Celebration](https://coord.info/GC8HK7K) Event.
With last weekend's group of Geocachers visiting and finding this geocache, I realised that I had missed out on a solid opportunity to have made this find. So I was thankful that a couple of Geocachers wanted to make this climb after today's Community Celebration Event, so despite me having an alternative plan, I thought I would prioritise this. I soon arrived to find Brislion, Snickersallan, and Tenkae staring up in the tree, and the talk of returning to the car to grab a ladder. I didn't think there was a need for that, so up I went, hoping to catch sight of the cache. It was a really fun tree to climb with so many limbs pointing everywhere, but I hadn't mentally prepared myself to make this find, and every time I came to a literal fork in the tree, hoping I would then spot the cache, Snickersallan ushered me to climb higher. Climb higher, really?! Ok, sure. So that repeated a few times, until my head started to touch the upper tree peas. Can-o-pea, that is
And just like I had read in the logs from last weekend, there was the concurrent and instantaneous observation of the cache between the ground crew, and monkey-in-training, me. Now, a quick interlude, I feel like I'm quite the adventurous Geocacher who enjoys a good tree climb. I can easily do heights when I'm technically tied in, but a high free climb becomes nerve-wracking, and out to the breadth of limbs really does scare me. Unfortunately, this cache had an element of this. For a good 5-10 minutes, I just stared at my nemesis cache, and I honestly thought that I was going to leave this cache for another day. I just couldn't see how I could safely return back along the shimmy component, of which I needed to take some risk on. However, the more I started to see the branches from different angles, I started to understand the feasibility of the situation, and whilst the ground crew did well in making chatter about the birds in the tree, I ascended upwards, and had the hard part behind me. Perhaps the last hazard in my retrieval was sticking my arm through a large leaf cluster full with big ants. I retrieved the cache, and then calmy shook the ants off me. I realised that if I broke that branch off, it would remove that hazard, and send those ants to the depths of the ground! The cache container and logbook were in good shape. It was just putting the bison container back on that really stuffed me, but I got there! Phew! Thanks monkey maker for the cache placement!

This was a long solved but after standing below on my lonesome a couple of years ago and thinking yeah nah... today we were at an event and several people wanted to come down and grab this cache. After driving to the posted coords... haha.. rookie error... we left the dump and made it back to the spectacular tree by the river. Cockatoos and Corellas we roosted in the branches in pairs... and remained despite the antics amongst the branches nearby.
Cache was spotted once the legendary Davewazza was up the tree... but the final push was daunting. Massive respect for reaching that cache and adding our names. Great to finally have this one ticked off. Tftc

Down on the Gold Coast today and after a very windy paddle for the event on Wave break island, we decided to steer clear of the water and headed to Nerang for some targeted and not so targeted caching.
There were some murmurings of this cache as we drove along but I wasn’t really paying attention. Then someone mentioned the DT rating…well that sparked my interest! Yes please, let’s go take a look.
Wow, what a tree! A beautiful specimen.
The previous finders pointed out where it used to be, but that was no help. We spread out and searched from branch to branch. Chamad spotted it from the ground at the same time that I spotted it up in the tree. As I was the closest I kept climbing and found a spot to reach the cache and sign the log.
There was an awkward moment on the descent where I thought I might have been stuck but managed to free a leg and return to the ground in one piece. Phew!
Great cache, thanks monkeymaker!

With so many possible spots to place a cache, I didn't have high hopes here. But then Davinells managed to locate it and soon had it in hand. Thanks monkey maker and happy caching
Having attended the Summer Wave (Break) and Paddle Celebration Event, a group was assembled and a very adhoc list was formed… very adhoc…
So with having parked the large convoy at Nerang, the much smaller convoy made our way around the northern Gold Coast for a couple of hours…
Todays group consisted of Beardman75, Davinells, Chamad, Snickersallan & myself…
There was quite literally a squeal of delight from one of the team when they (Davinells) worked out what the D/T was here… literally, a squeal… so it became a must find…
Having two previous finders with us meant nudda though as apparently this little delight moves… all credit to Davinells… trees area close second to waterfalls… and this is a pretty spectacular tree…

No luck for me today. certainly an easy tree to climb so i checked several high points before calling it a day
I came past today to check on the old girl, unfortunately no cache in sight so I have placed a new one up high.
Well... this was fun! We eventually spotted something in the tree and I made the climb up. Hrm... tethers? What is that over there? More tethers... Has this cache moved around the tree! Spotted another potential tether when I hear ESCR call out "found it". She had the little thing in her had without leaving the ground. A selection of previous finders were in the book - there is perhaps multiple containers at play. I returned it to one of the tethers I investigated earlier - I did what I could to attach it without supplies, so hopefully it stays put. TFTC!
While completing my job as ground support for this one something caught my eye! A little wiggle to get it out and I had the muddy little cache in hand! I thought about leaving Ardom to monkey around in the tree a bit longer but light was fading and we had done a big walk earlier in the morning..
a few attempt to toss it up and finally Ardom had re attached it to where we assumed it fell from TFTC - in such a beautiful tree!

Disappointed as the designated was up the tree & having difficulties spotting it up there, while Bris & I couldn’t spot it either so up the tree I went. & spotted a black cable tie around a branch with a smaller cable tie looped through. Our gecko scrambled up higher to it & confirmed it was 2 cable ties… no cache attached. Couldn’t spot anything else up there today.
Muggle65, Brislions and l stopped in and up l went. Found a couple of nice shiny black cable ties. Not sure if they were decoys or cache anchorings so we moved on.
Wow! That was so much fun. We had targeted this cache to attempt today but as we approached in the car I began to worry as the sun had just gone down and there wasn’t much light left to search. We arrived at the base of this majestic tree to find two boys perched amongst its branches. Thankfully they quickly moved on so we could begin our search. The three of us began our climb and it wasn’t too long before those magical words were called out “I found it!!”. Getting to the cache took some maneuvering but we got there in the end. Thanks money maker for the fun. You are never too old to climb trees I say.
A free couple of days, so we decided to head to the Gold Coast for a bit of caching.
This was a target one, although reading some recent logs we were not sure that it would still be there.
Mrs Domsky decided to head up and have a good look anyway. As it turns out, she was on entirely the wrong trunk and so with a little bit of down, it was then time to head back up, and back up as high as she could go.
Was that a tether in the distance that could be seen? Yep, indeed it was and with a bison and log sheet in very good condition.
A little precarious balancing as the log was signed, and then it was time to start the downward adventure.
Fortunately there was a lovely seat right at the base of GZ, with a spectacular view which provided a good place to sit to allow the tree-climbing adrenaline to dissipate
Thanks monkey maker. A good puzzle and awesome climb!

After making arrangements with Chamad to collect some target caches on the Gold Coast today, I set about solving some puzzles to collect. Chamad had already collected this one, and arriving at gz I was keen to make the climb as I'm trying to overcome my fear of heights.
I thoroughly enjoyed the climb, but unfortunately was not able to find the cache today, despite having the extra set of 'previous finder' eyes.
No matter, I enjoyed the climb and will return.

Finally got it. What a big tree and so hard to spot the cache. We even tried different times of the day to see if the angle of the light would help. Thanks for the challenge and adventure monkey maker. Fav point alloc
We spent quite some time here, with three of our group in the tree... perhaps another day
I'm 99.9% sure Peppa had us at the correct location (never can be 100% sure without a cache in hand) we had 6 sets of eyes - three of them in the tree for over half an hour and we STILL couldn't come up with the goods. Oh well hopefully next time
We didn’t get it the first time but came back this afternoon better prepared!!!! Got you finally!
Came back to this one again today after meeting lovely Aussie liola and family. Their lovely grandson tarzan808 helped. A sweet kid! Thank you guys so much for your help
We parked at the suggested coords ( thanks for that) and made our way across the bridge to GZ. Wow! What a great tree to climb! Loved it! We made a plan to climb as high as we could (as the hint suggested) but we’d go in different directions. Well, it must be our lucky day because within 30 seconds Mr W announced he had it. Sweet! What a fun way to start our morning. This one gets a Fave Point from us for the fun. All good here.
Thanks Monkey Maker.
Thanks Monkey Maker.
TFTC - and what ai reckon is closer to 8m not 7m above the world....The caches you discover when your pencil has broken in the climb.
Spent ages lying on a branch just looking upwards searching for the cache. I plotted out the GZ on the Ground (letting the GPS settle ) and as it turns out the cordinates were spot on ( just 7 m out - vertical.
An easy puzzle to solve. We assembled at the given parking coords, and then headed to GZ, which is a lovely area cwhich we had all to ourselves. First the kids went up, then the rest of the team began climbing all over the tree trying to find the container.
Eventually we found what we were after but it turns out only the zipties still remained. A new container was placed, and the CO immediately notified.

Ahha. Now it all makes sense. So that's where the Cache name came from........
A great tree to climb, with so many branches. At one stage i think there may have been around 8 of us up there looking.
Loved it up there and will be looking out for more of your placements.
Thanks CO.

How many cachers and kids can you fit in a tree at one time? Apparently not enough to find a cache.
This was an awesome tree and one that was fun for the whole 6 family’s to play in. After 20 plus minutes the words rang out “found it” only to be short lived by the signs of just half of it was there. With a spare tube in the car I raced over to get it, along with a new log and cable tie. With the new log signed and the cache replaced it time to depart. All had separate agendas for the rest of the day.
Thanks for placing this one here for us, it is truly a fun cache to do, and a FP for me.

Oh wow this is such a fun tree to climb! I have to go all the way to the top? OK! Bring it on .
This is a huge tree to search, and I knew the cache wouldn't be easy to spot. We must have been up there for at least 20 minutes, with spotters below, before I finally saw the tethers. At least sweet success!
But not so fast, the cache itself had fallen from the tether. Cache replaced in the tether, log signed, and I was a very happy camper.
This cache has been a long time coming. I needed this DT to finish my first loop, and unfortunately the COVID19 travel restrictions had limited my ability to find it. But today, this cache marks the completion of my first loop!
Thanks so much monkey maker, such an awesome tree climbing cache that this one is getting a FP.

How many cachers does it take to find a cache? More than is in this tree! This took us so long, but was so satisfying to hear the "oh I've found it!" ring from the branches!
What a great park!! But if searching to find the prize. Didn’t realise how high up I was until after I’d signed and replaced. It’s high!!! All good here.
It'd been a while since I'd found a cache like this. I do enjoy these!
Had to wait while a sloooow muggle and a sloooow muggle dog ambled in and out of the area. Why are you walking a dog at this time of day anyway? It is very very hot!
My companion enjoyed sitting comfortably watch me do the work. Didn't spot the lil fella til I was a couple of meters away.
Thanks for a fun adventure!

I had been here before, but failed to spot the cache. Today, with Dora The Explorer!, we went for another look. The cache was quickly spotted. Dora went up high....soooo high, following my directions to the cache. With our names added to the log, she was soon back on terra firma and we were on our way again. TFTC
I had been here twice previously without success. Third time proved lucky.

Third visit and despite being pretty certain I was in the right spot I couldn’t locate.
Given the last seekers had previous finders with them and logged a DNF I have replaced to keep the cache alive using the photos and hint to place where I think it should be. Now a mint tin zip tied in the canopy.
I hope others enjoy the fun challenge.

Here as a group and with previous finders, trying to not let this CO and his evil caches defeat us today, and we could not find this one, despite clambering all over the branches. There are loads of cockatoos enjoying the tree here, and some branches have also been lopped. Not sure if either of these may have had an impact. Either way we still think monkey maker is extremely evil
Came back just now but had the same result. If the photos in the logs are genuine I don’t know how I missed it but it beat me again and I had to call it quits after half an hour.
One day I’ll be back.
One day I’ll be back.
Down from Townsville to attend a rock climbing course this weekend. I finished the course this afternoon and shortly after finishing dinner with friends at Surfers I headed to this one to test my skills after solving the puzzle a while back. Spend a good 40 minutes searching around with my head torch in the dark. I’m pretty sure I was in the right spot after triangulating the photos in the logs but I couldn’t find the pesky thing this evening. If I have time I’ll have another crack at it tomorrow.
Thanks anyway
Thanks anyway
Looking for a cache for the day to keep our longest geostreak ever alive and MrsG brightly says "what about this, we've solved the puzzle?" hehe. We arrived at a magnificent specimen (from a ground point of view) and just thought "Sheesh ..................... !!! We spent some time looking up, around, down, through, along, behind, underneath, across, when a dog walking muggle appeared underneath staring at our antics, asking if we were looking for fruit.
"Photography" says MrsG caught on the hop while MrG was laying along a limb. "We love taking photos in trees" and was soon informed of another fab specimen in Brisbane that would be even bigger and better (you didn't hear that monkey maker!). After a nice discussion on trees our companion left and it became a two person search again. Finally after about 20 minutes and feeling defeated MrG had climbed down and decided to call it quits . . . . . . . . . . . but maybe just one last search!
Back into the limbs and within a couple of minutes he'd found the cache. TFTC monkey maker, btw the log is fairly full but if you can find this cache, getting your name on a full log is no challenge at all.

GOT HIM --- Finally!
If ever there was a nemesis cache, then this was mine. Solved the puzzle quickly enough about 6 months ago, but then the *pain & anguish* started. What an evil tree! What an evil tree indeed There were literally **hundreds** of possible hiding locations - all as perplexing as the next.
It took five visits - all of over an hour each scouring the tree - often with multiple sets of eyes from whoever I could bribe to lend a hand - all starting back in August and finally culminating in January. And My God, I was ***so close*** during the last few visits [^] And thanks to the previous finders for offering assistance - it is mighty difficult explaining in an email what GZ looks like in a tree with 1000 branches(!) that is 20 metres high and 20 metres wide [xx(]
But I got there in the end – with Little Bro and nephew in tow. The official line is that we spotted that damned bison tube *at the same time*
Some Hide alright! Favourite Point.

Back in Queensland to spend Christmas and New Year with omaster (geoson) and partner when Nyssaflutterby suggested a geocaching day in the heat with 1MinnieMoo so that we could possible complete our 3rd D/T loop.
Nyssa hasn't changed one bit since we left Qld, and I love her that way, so our planned 7am start changed to 8am but didn't really start till 8:30am. Love Spangle, so off we head, talking and laughing all the way. We had stopped at 2 other caches before this one where I met 1MinnieMoo and 1GiantPanda. After doing the 2 yak caches we left them to head further south.
Oh dear, is it that tree? Climbable, but oh so high and there are big black ants too!!!!! Started the climb and with the help of Nyssa, who had already logged this one, I finally was able to see the container, really, up there!!!!! Stop blowing wind, you are not making this easy! Finally our name goes into the log book and now getting down.........wind, stop blowing! Thank you Nyssa for suggesting this cache, such a great tree and the puzzle was quickly sorted last night after a bit of a hint.
A favourite from us and thank you monkey maker for the cache.

We were heading down to the Gold Coast to attend an event and decided it was about time we stopped by this cache to try our luck. We had allowed plenty of time and it seemed we needed every bit of it. Just as we were about to call time on our searching, Mr Just a Trifle laid his eyes on the elusive hide. With our name added to the log book, we proceeded to the event venue for a well earned coffee and cake.
Thank you monkey maker for having placed the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy. A favourite point from us for the tricky hide.

Spent an hour in the tree TWICE - with three sets of eyes but just couldn't spot the sneaky little bugger
Received a few tips from previous Finders and from the CO himself... but each tip tended to contradict the next one. One tip said riverside of tree, one said BBQ side, one said **not** the BBQ side, one said central trunk, one said the fused branch... no not that branch, the other one
In the end I had to smile to myself and admit defeat. Good to have a new nemesis cache I suppose... But will have to wait until my next return to the Gold Coast... [^]

I had been eyeing this one off on the site for a while now, having solved the puzzle already. I just never felt too confident, looking at the d/t and logs, of a find or even of getting access at GZ.
I found an email in my spam box mid week from geocaching HQ about a souvenir, and decrypting their code, I realised that this cache would more than qualify for their criteria..
So here I am, bright and early on a Saturday morning trying to avoid weekend park users. I had some stuff in my backpack which might come in handy, which I didn't require in the end, but I felt like quite the adventurer as i crossed the cool timber bridge to GZ. I leant over the railing for a few minutes taking it in... boy, what a nice spot you've brought me to monkey maker!
OK - onto the hunt. GZ was all clear and it soon became obvious which of these beauties I could be exploring. I tried looking from the ground for a minute but soon figured I would be better served getting up close and personal with the can o' pea.
Once up there i started searching in the area immediately above me. After a few minutes it dawned on me how long this search may take, with all the different routes to the top. It came as a pleasant surprise then, when climbing halfway back down in despair I looked up and saw the cache some distance immediately above my head. I began climbing back up but lost sight of it. Where have you gone? Oh... what!? Over there? No bloody way!
I stood there planning my next move for almost a minute before sucking it up and going in confident. Ignoring the knowledge that every awkward verticle movement when climbing is twice as awkward in reverse, I made it to a perch which was already way more shady than I am comfortable with. Every sway and creak was making me feel sick.. I would climb no higher.
From my crouched position in the treetop i could only just reach the cache so had to outstretch my legs a bit which did not held my confidence level as leg muscles began to burn. I got the darned thing unscrewed hoping against hope not to drop anything as i juggled lids and pens and such all while trying to write leaning against not much more than a stick. Putting it all back together took some concentration and it was only now that I noticed the excellent camo work on the wee bugger. How evil can this get haha.
Time for the climb back down, which for once I executed perfectly with the kind of grace which makes me wish someone were watching. When I popped out back onto terra firma a dog walker was looking quizzically at my bag on tge ground and I think they got startled half out of their skin. Sorry..nothing to see here. just a man sized monkey emerging from the treetops at sparrows fart.
Thanks for the fun here and your efforts monkey maker. A favourite point coming your way... 21 now... the can o' pea has come of age. They grow up so fast. You should be proud of her.

I agreed to do some caches including tree climbing. The tour should be around 10 caches. That sounds easy. In the end we were 8 geocachers who did the challenge of finding 25 geocaches with unique D/T rating. We spend 14 hours of the day geocaching and it was such a fabulous day!
This was our last tree climb and Rusty85 together with RoddyC found the cache. This was really good team work because from the ground it is impossible to spot this cache.

Out with a group of caches to achieve the 25 caches Unique D/T Rating Challenge. After about 11 hours we had found our 25. Great day but quite warm.
The tree climbers loved searching for this one - took some time to finally spot it. Thanks monkey maker.

I don't think I have ever spent so much time looking at a canopy, we tried every where telling Rusty85 look here, no look here, then Nandine1989 spent some time in the tree looking but eventually it was MrRoddyC having a look from a lower branch that saved the day with the spotting but we left it to our skinny Minnie monkey Rusty85 to retrieve and sign. What a joint effort that was. TFTC
OMG what a tree and so many branches, Nadine1989, Roddy C and i all went up and were looking for this little sucka, we search and search and search, and still no luck we moved around the tree and searched some more, we were not giving up we had just moved again when Roddy C looked up and we all heard "found it", he showed me were it was and up i went to go retrieve it lucky i am part monkey. sign the very sneaky cache. TFTC
We have had this cache on our radar for a long time - the name fascinated me. The mystery part was easy to solve, so when the group said "tree climb" I quickly looked to see if this cache was included. Yes!
I knew it was a ling way up, so when Rusty85 wasn't having much luck (it is such a wide canopy), I quickly joined the search. Aussie Liahona couldn't remember which side of the tree we should be searching, and when that was exhausted, I climbed over to the river side, and there I saw it - about 1.5 meters above my head. I was only too happy for the youth of Rusty85 to do the honours.
Found at 5.35pm on 17th February 2016. TFTC.

I had the puzzle solved for some time waiting for to come and visit.
Out with a great bunch of geocachers which started as a tree climbing exercise and ended up with 25 unique different DT's supporting Diamonjs, Rusty85 Nadine1989 and Joojoo57 with RoddyC, Aussie Liahona and I tagging along.
Of all the tree climbs that were done today, this was the one that did not feel safe as the higher climbed the small the branches became and anyone heavier than Rusty85.
We all helped with the search but it was RoddyC who spotted it.
TNLNSL TFTC Thanks monkey maker All good with this cache

Thanks for the best wishes Monkey Maker. Found it in 10 minutes climbing up! Brought back some childhood memories.
One of my fav!

Wow what a beautiful tree, certainly a tree climbers delight. The hint was spot on and E:) was the more energetic one and climbed nearly to the top as I held the phone ready to dial 000. Great hide, views and fav point awarded from me, TFTC monkey maker
Met up with Geoson at The Nest and he suggested we give this one a try before heading back to Brisbane. After a nice little drive through a nice quiet area we arrived at a park near the water. Arrived as near to GZ as possible and then had to contemplate just where this cache was. It was all in the name for me and something I would never even contemplate. I could see the cache and luckily had someone else to retrieve it and log our name. It was good to know this one was now a logged cache. TFTC
Cache find #1,004. On Saturday around 11.20-11.30pm

Two elderly ladies meet at the launderette after not seeing one another for some time. After inquiring about each other's health one asked how the other's husband was doing.
"Oh! Ted died last week. He went out to the garden to dig up a cabbage for dinner, had a heart attack and dropped down dead right there in the middle of the vegetable patch!"
"Oh dear! I'm very sorry." replied her friend "What did you do?"
"I opened a "Can O' Peas" instead."

This 80 year old woman was arrested for shop lifting. When she went before the judge in Cincinnati he asked her, “What did you steal?”
She replied, “A can o' peaches.”
The judge then asked her why she had stolen the can o' peaches and she replied that she was hungry.
The judge then asked her how many peaches were in the can.
She replied, “Six.”
The judge said, “Then I will give you six days in jail.”
Before the judge could conclude the trial, the woman’s husband spoke up and asked the judge if he could say something.
The judge said, “What is it sir?”
The husband said, ”She also stole a can o' peas.”

But in all seriousness, what a great cache. Nice little puzzle that leads you to a great tree. I even felt very tranquil as I crossed the bridge preparing for my tree climb. Not sure why people struggle so much here, its achievable to just bounce up the tree and locate the container. So glad to actually find this one as it has been on my radar for a long long time.
Thanks very much monkey maker, and another thing, the tree looks really cool on satellite view.
A Favourite Point from me as I have one possession.

Yay! At last! Today armed with an assistant (pa_i_ge, my 19yo Daughter) , using her years of gymnastic skills she navigated to the last spot that my 49yo body just couldn't contort to reach - the last 1 metre! As she climbed I pointed and directed her to the spot I was at yesterday, when on my 3rd visit here and my 5th climb I finally spotted the little blighter )). Once she was up and had the cache, I followed her up with the pen and cache was soon signed and replaced. This has been 8 months in the making, living in Melbourne we don't venture up here much, so in this had to be done on this journey, not sure when we will be here together again , but next time I saw a very interesting multi near Harbourtown by the CO.
A really nice climbing tree but no sign of a cache
It looks like that I may catch up with the last finder tomorrow to get a hint.
As I was about to give up a young couple arrived with some lunch to eat at the base of the tree. Oops. Their conversation suddenly dried up when this old codger suddenly appeared from above.

Day 17 of the mega caching tour of Queensland, and the two week trip was predominantly spent finding some of the states' older placed caches, as well as some of the more difficult terrain caches. With a high rating DT combo like this...how could I not give it a go! Parked and wandered over to this grand old tree, and soon saw the work that laid before me. Headed straight to the top, and I couldn't believe how easy it was to get around. This would have to be one of the best trees I've climbed in a while...without the need for equipment that is. As I searched around, I pictured what the cache would look like to try and zone in on it...but after 20 mins, I was thinking that it may remain hidden. One more look in a couple of good likely locations...and there it was...right in front of me. You little bas****d...I mean beauty! With much relief, I signed the log, and headed back to the car with a huge smile on my face.
Gratias monkey maker.

Slow Puncture was out on the dark side today! The purpose of this expedition was to celebrate our 1000th find, and having done so, we stopped in for some extra finds.
What a great tree-climbing tree! Nyssa was up it like a duck to water, followed by Kerry and then Dennis. Limbs were stretched as limbs were climbed, hints were followed, but no luck initially. Then there were a couple of PAFs and some very detailed information was received. It was not long after this that Nyssa had the sneaky cache in hand!
Meanwhile, Jelly the Wonder Dog had occupied herself by running around trying to catch butterflies!
This was the 3rd of 9 caches we found on this trip down south and back.
Thanks [Blue]monkey maker[/Blue], for bringing us here.

out on a day of celebration with slow puncture
after climbing a hill and some caving this was our next stop
one of the group had this one on their 'todo' list
we all have our special skills ... mine is the camera
there was three up a tree and the old one said ... go higher go higher
so the younger one went higher and the older one said
I can do it to ... I can do it to
so they all went up and the cache was found and the pen came out and the log got signed ...
thank you monkey maker

Ok, after a little bush-bashing, mountain climbing & caving it was time to up the ante a little more.
Slow Puncture didn't seem too flat yet so it was decided a wee bit of tree climbing was in order.
In company with FastEd, barbbowman, Nyssa flutterby & Jelly the wonder dog it was a brief trip, convoy style, to arrive keen & eager to do the deed.
Parked our respective Geo-beasts & ventured forth to find a majestic (read BIG), spreading (read wide & TALL) example of fine greenery just beckoning us forward.
Of course, being gentlemen one & all, Luke, Eddie & myself stood back to allow the ladies first assault!
Like monkeys they took to the branches to the point where I felt I should take one for the team & join in the search (for what it was worth).
A fair bit of toing & froing & ummimg & ahhing & Nyssa delivered the words we were all hoping for.
But, perched way up there, did Nyssa have a pen? Apparently not! LOL ...
Once more the gentleman, I proffered a scribble stick & the log was signed & tucked safely back in it's cosy, although quite highly elevated, little nook.
Photographs taken, congratulations all round & thanks again for the combined skills, of climbers, photograhers & support crew.
A big thanks to 'monkey maker' for a fine cache.
Got to be a favourite for testing my boundaries! LOL ...

Having been this way for a milestone cache for Slow Puncture, Nyssa brought this one to our attention which was added to the list.
Make our way from the last cache and find the spot to park. Set off to what was an enjoyable and peaceful spot. Greeted by our target and our own little monkeys were up scrambling all over the place. Ended up resorting to PAF, which the first one didn't help much. Soon after another finder who was returning a call from earlier gave us a better idea it was. Still took some searching, but eventually Nyssa comes up with the well camoed cache.
Log signed and cache reset.
TFTC and a FP from me.

This cache has been on my "to do" list for a while now. When I knew that I would be down this way I suggested it to the group I was with, they were more than keen to help me find it. As we approached GZ I was happy to find a rather fun looking beauty, what magnificent branches. It didn't take long until I was up and bouncing around Slow Puncture were quick to join me and then Linden/6. Our helpful assistants searched from below and took some photos.
After quite a bit of hunting, a PAF was sent out.... more hunting, Still no joy. Hmm, another PAF..... even more hunting. Still no joy. Then, there it was Woohoo!!! Sneaky little beasty. Higher I went, clinging to the branches a little more as I went up. Oh bother, I forgot my pen Never fear for Linden/6 is here, he climbed closer to pass the scribble stick. With log signed, I replaced the cache as it had been found.
Thanks for the puzzle and cache monkey maker A favourite point from me.

This is a cache that I have had my eye on for some time now, and just had never actually got to the right spot to come and have a look for it. Today I was a little way north, but had the time and figured it was worth coming to have a look and see.
I calculated the coordinates needed, and checked on sat view just to be sure it looked good and sure enough it looked like it worked and I could see some suitable parking nearby without need to apply the offset at all.
So I was soon parked and wandering across to the tree and it is quite a nice tree, especially good for climbing it would seem. So it took me a second to take a look around and then I was up the tree.
I took things literally getting my tree climb on and getting pretty high pretty quick. Making sure to keep that age old truth of three points of contact helped to make it feel a little safer. I had a bit of a look around but nothing so started moving around a bit finding some other spots to take a bit more of a look.
After about 25 minutes of manoeuvring and swinging around the upper reaches, I finally spotted something, and it would not have been more then six inches from my first vantage point *sigh*. I got my name added to the log and things back in place, before making my way back down to ground level. An enjoyable cache that I am very happy to have checked off.

After being distracted by two other nearby caches I finally made it to my target in this area.
I had a DNF here a while ago with Bother Colin, T-Tech and IolantheK. Those rotten @#$%&*#@ came back later that day without me and found the cache. [:(!]
I made my way up the tree and went a bit further than the previous attempt. I knew what I was looking for, but I just could not see it. I did not want to go out on a limb for no reason. [:o)]
I even tried a few different attack plans. I eventually sent a message to BC for some help. No answer there, so I kept looking and eventually spotted it up there.
How am I going to get up to that. [?] Well I am now a fully fledged tree hugger. Shimmying up a tree trunk that high up is not really my idea of fun, but I got to where I needed to be.
Sadly when I finally got to the log it was absolute mush. I was going to take a photo as proof of the find, but the light was all wrong and I could not hold the camera still enough in the swaying tree.
Oh what the heck. Back down, clinging on for dear life with everything I have wrapped around the tree. Off to the car for some paper. A sheet from my rite in the rain notebook will do nicely.
Back up the tree. Once again the full contact shimmy up the last bit to be able to say - my name is in the log. [^]

With the puzzle solved, I thought I would see what the lay of the land was like at GZ.
I climbed halfway up to see if I could spot anything from a higher vantage point, but not spying anything, I decided to return to the ground without a smiley but all limbs intact . Thanks to monkey maker for placing this cache.

Ooorh, ooorh, ooorh. Me Tarzan, me king of jungle...gym. Me come to climb big tree. Many branches. Lots of rain. Very wet. Me wish to send up Cheetah to climb for Tarzan and grab cache but he home sick with ape flu. Me bring SwellerJane instead. Tarzan and Jane look for clues in photos. Jane think he clever, he knows where cache is. Tarzan not so sure but he climb big tree anyway. Jane stay on ground, he tell Tarzan where to go to. Much looking. no seeing. Tarzan look more places, still no find cache. Tarzan not believe Jane, he think Jane has faulty glasses. Tarzan climb back down for more looking at picture. Jane very patient with Tarzan, he try to make Tarzan brain see where cache is. Arrrh, arrrh, arrrrh, Tarzan excited he now see Jane is right. Tarzan climb big tree again to spot before but bit higher. Tarzan, his hairy knuckles, they turn white. Jane pointing. Tarzan look around some more, still no see. Tarzan want to go home but then he see something. Is it a banana? No, it cache!!! Screeeeeech, screeeech, screeech, Tarzan do happy monkey dance. Tarzan sign name in log. Maybe Tarzan forget to sign Jane's name in cache, Jane just have to climb up and see for himself. Tarzan climb back down, he very happy ape man. He give Jane big monkey high-five. Tarzan have favourite points, he give point to monkey maker. TFTC
Out for a day of hight difficulty/terrain rating with Seffnjarah. Heading down to an event in Canungra gave us the chance to attack a heap of caches from the Dark Side of Brisbane down to the Gold Coast.
As I was just a tagalong gopher boy on this one I will leave it to the real hero of the day to tell the story of this one. Suffice to say I would have had difficulty getting up to the first step of this one, and on a wet day, I didn't even want to stand near the thing!
I do want to say my neck hurts!
Thanks mm - the last of yours for the day I think!

Solved this puzzle a while ago and new GeoWren, the climber of the family, would keen for the challenge. We headed of for the cycle with Geoboy, Spaz & Geomidgetmutt in tow.arrived at the logical spot & looked up, boy o boy this i gunna be fun. Wandered around with necks craned for a couple of minutes but couldn't spot anything so branched out for the 1st climb... spent 10mins on high & couldn't see anything. Came down & check some info for some inspiration. Headed up once more just the two of us as the other two had gone off on another adventure. Headed to the likley spot & low & behold I spotted it & pointed GeoWren in the general direction after playing hot & cold for 5 more minutes she spotted it. Getting it was the next challenge, with a bit of teamwork & some reassurance of getting into a safe spot to reach out with both hands Wrenz had the log in hand. A quick sign & replace, then their came the task of returning to the ground safely. A little bit of hyperventilation just to make a scene & we were safe on the ground again. PHEW!! TFTC this one gets a favorite from me just for the sheer challenge even after sighting the cache. Also saw some dolphins in the river playing in boat wakes which was a bit of a buzz
I got to solve a puzzle and climb a tree 3 times up and down 2 days ago and 2 times up and down today, even with a hint from CO via email I was unable to find it. I could not spot this from the ground and with other tree climbs I usually spot them in-situ but this tree has made a monkey of me. It will have to wait another day/year when I get the chance to visit here from Melbourne again. Thanks for the cache
The rating of this one caught our eye and on looking at the puzzle we realised we could solve it. On a previous trip we had been scoping out what was required but was not dressed to make it all the way to the cache but did spot it. Today we were better prepared but it still took a little while to spot again. As we went up the wind pickup and the movement started so we had to time the cycle for the grab which we did with one hand but did think 2 would be needed for replacement. We went to sign the log only to find our pen had dropped out on the way up. Down we went to complete the signing and then up again for the replacement which was trickier and needed two hands which was an interesting balance. TFTC. A fav pt from us.

Well what an adventure and performance this was!!!!!!!
Lots of scary exercise, 3 PAF's, a mini event then we had a full blown event but most importantly we now have a smilie.
That's the 3 of us smiling our heads off!!!!!!
I had better expand on this so you know what on earth I am talking about!!!
I solved it soon after it was published but when I spotted the D/T I got scared off and watched as one after another failed to get a smilie!!
I had visited the site but all I achieved was a picture of this MAGNIFICENT tree, as there was absolutely no way I was climbing up that far.
We had planned to return with our youngest as she just LOVES climbing trees but it seemed that there was always something else more important that stopped us.
Today with the school holidays disappearing fast we saw an opportunity so we headed off!!!
Our mistake was to start off late in the afternoon!!!
We got to GZ and scanned the tree from the ground for some evidence of our prize but saw nothing!!
Our little Monkey then headed up the tree to see if she could see it from closer but still no luck, so we relented and did our first PAF (Hereafter referred to as PAF 1).
With some patchy info on board Geo Girl attempted to get to the location that we thought but it all looked too scary and so we asked for another opinion and therefore the second PAF (Hereafter referred to as PAF 2), being very kind and living quite close she offered to come to us and guide Little Monkey to the right spot.
When PAF 2 arrived she possible height difficulties and that she differed on the location so she did PAF 3 to compare details with not much help, so Geo Girl searched some more!!
It was then the PAF 1 rang to check on our progress and to our surprise and delight he offered to come and help us out!!!
I need to point out at this stage that we had left HOME later in the afternoon so by now we were enjoying, or maybe not, a beautiful sunset behind the hills!!!
PAF 1 turned up soon after and proceeded to climb, joining Geo Girl who was still in the tree.
With the proper target area now known he guided her relocation then headed a bit further up to see if HE remembered where the cache actually was!!!
Once spotted he invited Geo Girl to join him at the dizzy heights and with some guiding for safety he directed her to true GZ.
More exercise was then involved as she maneuvered herself to a position where she could safely access the prize.
It was with joy that she triumphantly retrieved the log ready to sign, but NO!!!!! Even though we had furnished her with a writing implement it had broken in the ascent WHAT!!!!!
Luckily the innards were located and with assistance from PAF 1 a scribed our team name.
More exercise ensued as the return proved even more challenging than the retrieval but to her credit Geo Girl succeeded without assistance, just as it had been with the actual retrieval.
The situation could only be described now as almost pitch black!!!!!
With the assistance of a torch PAF 1 safely guided Geo Girl and himself safely back to the ground where much jubilation and thanks culminated!!!
So as the sun sinks quickly in the west (well in fact we were running late) we bid farewell to our cast of thousands and declared that we should have made it an event.
And here ends our little mini drama and now to the credits.
Act 1 Geo Wife (Mum) Geo Youngest Girl (Daughter) & Geo Husband (Dad) (Me)
Act 2 Aussie Liahona (Friend in Need)
Act 3 Radnoski (No2 Friend in Need) Geo Youngest (Wonder) Girl
Finale All the above to a tumultuous finish.
Writer and Executive Producer MM the Magnificent!!!!
After long consideration and deliberation the judges have reached a decision and the major award goes to ..... Geo Youngest Wonder Girl!!!
For the creation of this drama setting the award of a favourite point goes to ...... MM the Magnificent!!

Captain Terror and I had spent a wonderful afternoon on the Gold Coast, we had found a few caches, had a wonderful lunch and even had a quick walk on the beach. It was now time to grab our last cache for the day. The Captain parked the subaru and we headed across the park. We had a poodle run up to us to say hello and his very laid back owner called a few times until the dog decided we were too far away and left us alone.
We got to GZ and the Captain handed me his breakables and started up the tree. I watched, took photos, read out logs and shouted suggestions and encouragement to him... all the things you are supposed to do as ground crew. He had been up there for about 15 minutes when he spotted the container. It seemed to be a bit of a struggle to actually get the cache, even with his long limbs. He had taken the pen up with him so signed our names and replaced the cache as found. I was happy that he climbed back down instead of his usually jump and hop he lands well descent. Thanks for the cache monkey maker.

Once upon a time I wondered why this geocacher from the Gold Coast referred to himself as 'monkey maker'. Now I damn well know as he made a monkey out of me today!
I had this puzzle solved, which was straight-forward enough, before the first logs appeared on the geocache listing. As the few DNF's rolled in I was increasingly more tempted to drive the 50kilometres south and have a look myself. But, evidently, I did not.
Today Net88 and I were on the Gold Coast and were seeking out interesting Difficulty and Terrain geocaches. A D4/T5 sure got our attention! I knew it would be a challenge, but may as well have a go. We found the good parking spot and wandered in to GZ, passing the muggle family plus dog as we went.
The hiding area was obvious and sure looked perfect for climbing! At least, the lanky Captain thought so. Net chose to be the ground crew on this mission! I channeled the inner monkey and made my way up. What a great tree to climb! Plenty of hand holds, not overly high, no bugs crawling all over me, no nasty bark and all 'round fun. But finding the geocache however..
After some 15 minutes of swinging about and peering all over the place I could not spot the container. I looked everywhere! Net looked and looked on her phone for any hint and shouted everything up to me, including the history of drip coffee, thanks to Radnoski.
Minutes ticked by and I wondered if I'd ever spot this darn thing when it appeared. Like a beacon sent forth from the foliage, it hung there in all it's glory.. right over the top of my head. Now I just had to get to it. Difficulty 4 indeed!
I think I utilised every bit of my 6'6" height and associated limbs to get at it, but I made a pretty easy and safe retrieval on the logbook, signed it and replaced all as found. I clambered back down pretty happy with the find. I love a bit of a puzzle, a good tree climb, a clever geocache and a challenge, so a favourite from me! TFTC monkey maker

Well that was unexpected, we're back and only the following day [^] As it turned out IolantheK left my wallet behind at the Currumbin pub so today we thought we'd collect Brother Colin on the way and make another attempt at this find
This time with some climbing harnesses and fall arrest devices BC and I scrambled around the tree until I spied the little blighter The HINT is as true as it gets [^]

It was the day after the day before and I was back again to turn that proverbial frown upside down.
It appears that I had branched off in the wrong direction the day before and was searching in the wrong spot altogether. With a bit of extra guidance I refocused my search an eventually spotted the container. The camo is doing a great job and blends in very well.
Heaps of fun monkeymaker and definitely a challenge to find and sign the log.
Somehow I managed to not run into Brother Colin & crew. We both DNF'd this cache on one day and then found it on the next. Every time I went up the tree there ended up being muggles below. It was even more confusing for the poor muggles when I made a few phone calls to get some hints above their heads.
Thanks for the cache Monkey Maker. A favourite from me.
Find number 1954.... so here is something you didn't know (or maybe did know) about 1954...... In 1954 the first electric drip coffee maker was invented in Germany and named after its inventor Gottlob Widmann "Wi-Go-mat".

So we were here yesterday.
But someone in the group left their wallet at the Pub and 3 of the four of us had to go get it this arvo.
So we just HAD to come back for another look ... this time with harnesses and safety gear.
Now we can get high enough to poke our heads out the top .... (well almost )
And it was a quick find ... just like that ... done ... easy as.
And the the log got dropped ... luckily we had someone on the ground ... and eventually got it back together.
Thanks for the cache. A fav point for this one.

Well, what do you know... I'm back again but only because I left my wallet behind yesterday at the Currumbin pub and T-Tech and I had to take the long drive all the way from northern Brisbane to get it And of course when Brother Colin heard the story he wanted to accompany us, then between the blokes a plan was hatched to have another go at this one, and maybe we should all bring our rock-climbing harnesses, and BC will bring his tree-climbing gear, so the search could be a lot safer!!!!
Fast forward a few hours and the boys are both up the tree, harnesses, ropes, biners, fall arresters and all, searching all over for this tiny little cache. Yet again I got to be the photographer! Lots of clambering around and careful searching, then T-Tech yells out he's spotted it! Woohoo! 3 very happy cachers here But, ooopppsss!!! Neither of them took a pen up the tree, did they?!?!? [:o)] Some strategic maneuvering was done and the logbook dropped the 7 metres down to me to do the signing, then passed back up the tree by BC to T-T. A team effort indeed [^]

After a long day up at "The Cougals" (east & west) Team members teamdfl, Brother Colin, IolantheK and I, we decided to give this cache a go as the light was fading [^]
IolantheK, and BC had worked out where the final was but unfortunately the little blighter got the better of us

After a big day out with teamdfl, IolantheK and T-Tech we stopped in here ... after the beers.
All this did not leave much time before it got too dark to see.
A great tree to climb around on though.

I had solved this puzzle a month or so ago but hadn't really taken much notice of the difficulty or terrain rating.
I was in a bit of a hurry when I arrived at the little park...... and then started reading the description.... "hanging about 7 meters above the ground"..... Not exactly what I was expecting but I will give it a shot.
I gave Aussie L a call and she came down to find me 6 meters up the tree. Some muggles had also arrived for a picnic at the nearby table and probably thought we were crazy as Aussie L offered suggestions from ground level and I scampered around in the branches above.
No luck this visit....... to be continued

T-Tech, Brother Colin, teamdfl and I have taken the big hike out to the Cougals, and on the way home we planned to have a go at this cache, so I had a go at the puzzle... Well, that was easy! Very grateful for the Latin lessons I took at school [^] However, we got a little waylaid at the pub... and consequently there wasn't really enough daylight to give this the search that it deserves, so we had to give up Not sure when I'll get back to give it another go...
Heading home from a walk with IolantheK, Brother Colin and IolantheK. Sadly a trip to the pub meant that it was getting dark as we got to GZ. It was very difficult to see anything up in the can.
BC and T-Tech were high enough, but we did not really have time to hunt properly, so a DNF it will be.
