Logs
Found on 27/12/21
I left the new "log" (it's a maccas receipt, it's all I had).
As the other finder said, everything in the tin is baked, but it's still working.
A quick clean out and a fresh log would see this back in action.
(oh the tree it should have been hiding under is also no longer there..., burnt)

Great spot but cache is definitely crispy - thanks for the log update. Will retrieve remnants.

I'm still officially on leave, but had to work this morning (with a morning off later on). As soon as my meeting was over, I just had to get out caching/exploring. I have been eyeing the Hume Sawmill cache for the last few years, and despite it being less than 30km from home as the crow flies, it seemed difficult (timewise) to get to. It turned out to be a pleasant, although nearly 2 hour drive, all the way to GZ. From there I thought I'd explore how far I could get towards McIntyres Hut. It was only about 10km as the crow flies. It turned out to be 23km by road. I managed to drive 17km in my AWD, then biked down the steep section, not trusting that I could get back up. (In hindsight I may have been successful, but caution was appropriate, because if I couldn't get back up ....). Some of the descent was even too steep to ride, which meant it was also too steep to ride back up, even for my e-bike.
Once at McIntyres flat I wasted no time in climbing up to the cache. Easily found, but it has been burnt out. The log book had been baked to a crisp, and was very fragile and unreadable. All other contents were melted and unrecognisable. Thankfully the previous visitor had left a new log, because I hadn't come prepared with a replacement.
Quite a slog pushing an e-bike up some of those steep sections. On the way back, I came across a tree that had fallen across the road. Fortunately it was just small enough (curb height) to drive over, because I couldn't get around it. All up it was 5 hours for the round trip to here and back to Humes Sawmill. I finally got home a t9pm - 9 hours after leaving. Next time I'll come in a proper 4WD and drive all the way. TFTC.

What a fab Father's Day 2020! Great trip up here to Mcintyres Hut with some awesome friends including Richie@family and WhiskeyDance. BBQ was great and there have to be fish in that river there. Next time we come we have to either camp or leave earlier, its a great spot.
Even though the water was freezing Richie went in so, it was on and in I went too. Nice dip after being made to hike to the top of a hill for a geocache. TFTC

If there’s 1 cache in a 1000 to add to your bucket list then this one was definitely mine. This was my 2nd attempt to get to McIntyre’s hut after my first failed attempt 2 years earlier with my Subaru Outback pitted against inhospitable terrain not suited for this car. My fellow travellers safely tucked inside their 4wd told me the suby would do it easy but after a impassible hill about 1km away from GZ I turned back with my tail between my legs and crossed fingers in the hope I’d be able to get out alive. This time my nephew acquired a landcruiser 75 series and wanted to test the waters, my only recommendation was McIntyre’s hut, so I was feeling a lot more confident in snagging the cache. With his old school suspension it was a brutal exhausting drive to GZ but the car did handle the steep rocky terrain quite well and once the campground appeared below us I knew I was finally home. The cache GZ was a very steep walk, but most rewarding. This is one cache I won’t forget, as it was the toughest cache I’ve done on 4 wheels. Tftc

I recently noticed that of my unloved cache finds, the average days unloved is 490. So I cast about looking for caches above 500 to try to get my average up and this one came up. With my recent increased confidence in my vehicle and its driver I made plans to come out here on Sunday with JmanJezza. Fast forward to today and I am a bit under the weather and so am relegated to passenger. Nonetheless a little virus wasn't going to stop me from conquering the final 100 metres to the cache (how could you get concussion walking down from here?) and soon had my name in the book. Thanks for the placement.
Thanks BatGirlandCo

Headed out on a 4WD trip with DRT and a Muggle mate from work today and our first destination was McIntyre's Hut.
DRT, one of my muggle mate's son's and I headed up to grab this one and a nice quick find on a nice size cache was made. After admiring the views we made our way down, which was a little harder then coming up.
Once at the bottom my mates son realises that he has lost his phone, probably back up the hill (due to his preferred method of decent being sliding on his backside). He and DRT headed back up where DRT located the phone right back at the top!! TFTC Batgirl.

Out on a 4WDing trip with Jusojara and one of his friends.
The trip here was fun and bumpy. After getting out and looking at the river it was time to stretch our legs. So we climbed up the hill (The hard way) at the top some fine views and a cache greeted us. After admiring the views some more we decided to descend, for which we found a much easier path than the one we took up. Once we got back to the cars we discovered that a phone had been lost somewhere on the way down... Yipppee back up I go and of course it just had to be almost at the top.
After finding a cache and a phone climbing up and down the hill TWICE it was time to get going again. Great views and a great spot FP from me

I have been keen to get out here for a look and to give the Great Wall a bit of a work out. The day was clear and sunny, although the afternoon promised to be quite hot, so Cacheoar and I headed off in the cool of the morning and were back home again in the early arvo. The track in was dry and dusty and a bit rocky along parts of 2 sticks road. Some nice steep bits on the way down into the valley but fortunately no slips or slides. After checking out the river and the hut, we did the dash up the hill and managed to find and log the cache in quick time - all is in very good condition. Then it was back to the car and Cacheoar did the honors and drove us out. A great cache thanks BatGirlandCo. I will definitely be back out here again - just for the fun.
Nice easy one to find despite the difficult climb to access. Kept the kids happy while camping. TFTC
Came out here with Muddy.butt and the Rats for a ANZAC camping weekend. Dad said it was an easy 4WD trip in which in the dark it was cause I couldnt see what was happening. By daylight we went exploring and then returned to climb up and find this cache. The cache details wasnt too hard but the drive in was wild.
Thanks
Thanks
Last time we were out here was 2008 and the place was a little different back then. Over the weekend just gone we came back for a camping weekend. The track in seems to improved but at present is in bad condition with the steep decents being very slippery and that was in dry conditions.
It was pleasing to see the campground has grown in size and amenities. We tried our hand at a bit of fishing while here but with no luck. After a short climb up the hill we had the cache in hand.
Thanks for bringing us back here... Loved the 4WDriving

Been coming to this place on 4wd trips for ages, great place to camp and have a dip in the river.
Some time ago I thought about putting a cache here but was way too slack to go to the effort of getting it approved. So thankyou BATGIRL for making it so. It was a bit of a slog up the hill and might I recommend something better than sandals. Great views from the top worth the effort on the short walk.

Well - that has to be up there with one of the scariest caches I've done! And I wasn't even planning to do it! I was planning on a newly published cache not too far away. However, as I got to Piccadilly Circus, the gate was locked! How rude! It wasn't even a total fire ban. Well, it was early, so maybe the Ranger hadn't been yet... What to do? I could ride to that cache, but a 40km ride was more than I was planning... I could wait here for a ranger that may not turn up at all... Then I had a silly idea! I recall there was another cache around here somewhere! I noticed I had some mobile reception, and sure enough Macintyres was only about 10km as the bird flies! I figured, I could start driving to that, and see how close I could get in the SUV. Mind you - I had no idea how to even get there! Anyways decided to start down 2 Sticks Rd, and see what happened! Two Sticks Rd is pretty bad, but it was nothing compared to what was coming. I eventually got to a road called Dingi Dingi Ridge Rd - this is where the real fun started! It got progressively worse, but I kept thinking - just a little further... Here I met a convoy of 5 of the biggest 4wds I'd ever seen! Wow their knobbly tyres came half way up my door! One of them was broken down which didn't instil me with confidence. They ask if I had a collection of bolts? Sorry I had nothing... I asked whether the road was going to get any worse to Macintyres hut - and they confirmed it did. I'm sure they were giggling to themselves seeing my little car!
But I guess you get used to the worsening road, and go just a little further, and just a little further. Eventually, with only 1/2 a km to go, I thought - I can't give up now! Well that 1/2 km was really bad - it was so steep that on occasions, with the brakes full on, the car just kept sliding down the hill! At this stage I really didn't know how the heck I was ever going to get out of here! Once at the campsite - there were lots of 4WDs. I was wondering which one I would ask to tow me out of here! Anyways - do the cache first - that was hard too! Anyways, I decided to try driving out... Well, the SUV's all wheel drive got a major workout! Going up the very soft ultra steep bits, all 4 wheels were spinning, and the car was slowly going sideways! But it made it out! And the oil temperature never got higher than 116deg. I'm just glad the forecast rain held off! Had that stuff turned to mud - I'd still be down there! Thanks for the unexpected adventure BatGirlandCo! Never again!
But at least the gate was open once back at Piccadilly Circus - and I could score an easy relaxing FTF there!
