Logs

21-Sep-24
Found the star picket but nothing else.

11-Feb-24
Found it and as previous logs we couldnt access it, plus found a huge spider living inside

17-Oct-23
Should have read the logs... found the cache but none of the tools we tried would unscrew the cache. Photo taken as proof we found it. Tftc

24-Aug-23
Needs maintenance couldn’t open??

05-Aug-23
Great concept, but this cache is in need of repairs. Unable to open to sign log either

29-Jul-23
Couldn’t open the cache to sign

29-Jul-23
Unfortunately this cache is past it’s prime but it is a cool concept. Seeing previous logs I bought pliers and tweezers with me to try and open the bison but that little bugger is sealed shut! Anyway TFTC

18-Jun-23
Find #: 3,227
Companions: None
Muggles: None
Weather: Windy winter afternoon
Cache condition: Needs TLC

I was looking forward to finding this cache after loving the previous one, but sadly think I left my visit many years too late Sad It didn’t take long to find the camo once at GZ, and getting the bison out was equally simple (ant farm not happy), but as others have stated the bison container cannot be opened any more, so I have attached a photo instead. TNLNTP TFTC

Gotcha thank you

31-Jul-22
Needs maintenance couldn’t open

13-Nov-21
Like the previous finder, we could not open the bison tube. Photo attached as proof of find. TFTC. The 4Rods.

08-Oct-21
Picture evidence is proof of find as the cap on the bison is too tight to undo without pliers

08-Oct-21
Wirh chippymick today....we are off to get some piping hot pies after this cache!!
TFTC

02-Jul-21
I targeted this cache today for the favorite points but this cache seems to be a mere shadow of what it used to be. After locating the hiding place there was no mechanism, and even after receiving the bison tube, it was rusted shut with no o-ring. I was unable to sign but I'm still calling this a find. It needs maintainace pretty badly

02-Jul-21
Bison tube has rusted shut and mechanism for retrieval seems broken

26-Feb-21
On a mission to collect Minions but a few trads on the way. Near GZ I spotted something cache like and soon had CIH. Log is almost full and a little damp. As I believe the CO is no longer in the area, the next person might want to bring a fresh log roll. TFTC

14-Feb-21
A fairly easy find for me today.
After dodging a bunch of eight legged guardians i spotted the cache only to find some ants had taken up residence.
I shook them loose and extracted the log.
Thanks.

A nice geocache-stroll through a beautiful part of Baulkham Hills.
Reading the hint I did not know what to expect. But it turned out to be much easier than expected.

Nice easy find, lovely bush area

01-Mar-20
Found with Anominous Sign on 1/03. Couldn't figure out how this one suppose to work. TFTC.

01-Mar-20
A quick find and retrieval. It doesn't seem to be working as initially intended. We signed the log and spent a few minutes wondering how it was supposed to work, before returning it.
TFTC!

We came out for a bike riding as a family this afternoon to knock off a few more caches. An easy find. A bit too easy to get the cache out of the contraption. We think it needs maintenance to bring it back to it original glory. TFTC!

06-Apr-19
This geocacher reported that there is a problem with this cache.

02-Apr-19
The first of the kind for me, I didn’t shoot anybody. Very creative. I’m visiting my daughter from the Hunter Valley. TFTC

31-Mar-19
Today I headed out to Dural, for the Amateur Radio NSW (HAM Radio) bi-monthly Trash & Treasure sale at Quarry Road, but I was also keen to target some high Favourite point awarded caches to boost our Cache Carnival points tally. Stopped for a few quick “park & grab” Traditionals on the way out, then after the T&T sale & BBQ it was over to Dural & Kenthurst for a few highly Favourited Multis, and then headed home via Baulkham Hills to target a cluster of highly Favourited caches in the Crestwood area, before finishing the day at North Rocks with Australia’s second oldest active geocache. This was the 16th of 20 finds, and 1 DNF, for the day.

After failing to find "RISE OF THE MACHINE" earlier today it was nice to arrive at the GZ of this "version 2" and find something "cache like" to play with. Quickly figured out how to access the log, and it was then CIH soon after. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found.

And once again there was a bunch of furniture setup near GZ, as also seen at "You can't see me", which was all very strange to see - very surreal. TFTC Team Sunderland.

30-Mar-19
Out today with Trodectus to do a Carnival trip. After a long walk to do the circuit we arrived at GZ and located the cache. I was able to retrieve the cache. Log signed and returned. TFTC

30-Mar-19
Found with Coybear2000. C had put together a list of caches to help us with the Carnival challenge. This was our 5th find for the afternoon. We continued on our walk and eventually reached GZ. Once there we soon spotted the hide and it wasn't long before we had CIH. Log signed and all replaced. TFTC.

01-Mar-19
Pushing through the trees, GPS dancing, then, wonder what that is? Yep, a nice cache. TFTC

25-Nov-18
Geobiking day around Baulkham Hills. Quick found. Tftc

24-Aug-18
Was in the area and made the find quickly. Cache has detached from the star picket. Easy to retrieve the cache and SL. That camo sure does stand out now that all the leaves and everything else are brown! Thanks TS, hope they are treating you well down south. Smile

02-Aug-18
After playing comp tennis in the Hills District I was looking for somewhere on the way home, or even sort of on the way home for today's streaking cache. This area of Baulkham Hills along Toongabbie Creek was somewhere I knew of but had never been to so I headed over. I parked in Jasper Road and walked down into the reserve following the GPS arrow.
It wasn't long before I spotted the cache camo. The cache itself was easy to extract and the log was soon signed.
It looks like locals use this area for meetings as there's 4 or 5 chairs set up around a makeshift table only about 10m from GZ.
The traffic was light and the cache was much easier than I expected so I decided to walk through the reserve and grab another cache while I was here.

Had spotted this one on a previous visit but returned today to make it official. As others have mentioned, the mechanism appears to be broken - although the cache/log can easily be retrieved.

Very cool. As we were extracting a big furry friend came to say hell. Holy moly that scared us all took a jump but then continued to do signing duties replace and carried on our day. Tftc

24-Jun-18
Nicely done and even got a surprise as we retrived. A massive spider (which was real) also jumped out. Alot of screams were, now back to the cache for signing duties TFTC

Ahhhh. There you go.

03-Apr-18
Heading home after the Lake Macquarie Mega, broke up my trip halfway at my cousin’s overnight (needed the break after 4 hours crawling in holiday Monday traffic that normally should have taken 90 minutes) and ticked off a few more caches to round out my six-day tally to an even number. Had done the original Machine a few years ago and with an easier rating I knew I could make v2 a quick find. Made even quicker when I found the damaged attachment on the ground. Tried my best to make temporary repairs and sent a message to the CO.

03-Apr-18
Needs maintenance. More details to be sent directly to CO and in my found experience when I catch up on logs AND sleep from the weekend's Mega.

03-Apr-18
This geocacher reported that the container is damaged.

09-Mar-18
Found earlier today on way to work. Old log needs to be removed. You will need tweezers to extract log.
About 3m from where compass originally pointed me but co ords good. Tipped object upside down to no avail. Then pondered.
Then looked at lids but no unscrewing. Then look at string. Maybe if I do this... a ha! Nice cache. Watch out for spiders at GZ. I almost ran straight into a web.
Fave point for sure! Tftc

TFTC Thank you for going to the effort of hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity. The container is detached from the star picket. Clever hide.

I found the cache for this one, but SMS figured out how to access it! Very clever Thanks for placing - a FP from me

We headed off around this beautiful parkland grabbing a few caches.

Reaching GZ we located the cache... had a little push pull, then 'oh it works like that'
Great cache. Lots of fun. Favorite from me.

12-Feb-17
After finding the contraption it didn't take long to figure out the thing to getting the cache. As I was raising it a huge huntsman was sitting on top of the cache. He crawled further up the tube so I could retrieve and sign the log. Always enjoy finding creative caches, TFTC.

07-Jan-17
Another very clever Team Sunderland cache. Enjoyed working this one out and soon had the CIH, thanks.

04-Jan-17
Another creative construction which had us quite perplexed at first until we turned things around, then it was a matter of operating the machine and the cache soon emerged.Clever little mechanism- Signed the last spot of the log so will need more paper soon. Fav point for us for the imagination and effort gone into this.

03-Jan-17
Found! Very clever! Found with Nurreg. Cache signed and replaced as found. TFTC

03-Jan-17
Never seen something like this before! As always LovelyLadyLocks and I took the worst possible route to get to it but we still got to it. TFTC

01-Jan-17
Out on a first day of 2017 geocaching expedition. Mrs Gaztek guessed what mechanism we might be seeking here but it took some looking before we spotted it. Ingenious! The little fella had some company as a few bugs had built some cocoons in there. Gone now! A favourite from us. And a milestone for us at 2,700 finds! SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek

06-Dec-16
Congratulations on a very inventive kind of cache. There was no trouble finding the camo but it did take a bit of figuring out to be able to retrieve the log as everything fitted snugly together. This was done successfully and all was in good condition. Log was signed, all was put back into its camo and we went away happy. Many thanks to Team Sunderland for a carefully crafted cache which deserves a favourite point from our stock..

05-Dec-16
Walked to GZ and spotted the camo quickly. It did take a while to figure out how it works. The log was retrieved and signed and everthing was replaced as found. Favourite point given. Thank you Team Sunderland for an interesting cache.

30-Oct-16
We approached the GZ through the dried out creek - not exactly the most straightforward approach. My son was navigating and we successfully found this unique contraption - my son was convinced that some hairy spider was on guard however it was no match for us -and we retrieved the cache. Way back was more traditional matter. Very enjoyable. TFTC

22-Oct-16
Found the cache but the contents empty.. great idea for a cache though. Thanks Cool

22-Oct-16
Please check this cache as the contents were no longer there.

04-Oct-16
Found just lying on the ground. Took a little while to figure out how to actually get the cache, but a cool little hide here. Found the spot again where the cache should have been posted. Well done!! TFTC

10-Sep-16
Found at 2:15pm.

I had just found 'ROTM 1' not far from here so I figured I'd grab this one too. Unfortunately the cache didn't seem to be quite in its intended place but I was still intrigued by the container and its mechanism. It was riddled with ants on the inside but managed to avoid them.

Signed log, thanks for the cache Team Sunderland.

18-Aug-16
Similarly to other finders we thought the inner container may have gone missing after a shake revealed nothing, but then we found the hard-to-see apparatus for cache retrieval. Horrifyingly, there was a shedded carapace of a hunstman sitting on the inner container! >_< As for the outer camo, we found it lying down, and were unable to find a spot with it standing upright that was out of view of passing muggles, so we we left it lying where we found it. Might be worth a check if it was actually meant to be upright! TFTC Smile

18-Aug-16
As SSSonya said, this was a bit tricky to work out how to extract it, but again a very clever cache. Thanks again for going to so much effort to create this one as well, Team Sunderland ..... very inventive indeed Big Grin. We struggled to understand where it should be 'hidden' though vertically or horizontally (which is how we left it as found). Log was rather damp but we were able to sign. TFTC

30-Jul-16
A quick find with muggle husband and geotoddler. At first we thought it was broken or missing something as it seemed empty. Just as I was about to place it back did I notice the secret mechanism to retrieve the logbook. Log was wet but still writable. Log is almost full. Worth a favorite:)

Despite living only mere houses away we hadn't got to this one. A quick find and then little Ms 6 found the machine. A good cache

25-May-16
Found. Tricky retrieval.TFTC

22-May-16
A bit of a shocker today with only 1 find out of 5 attempts. That's unusual. This was my one success story. Found it lying down flat (not sure if it was supposed to be vertical or not). Took a while to work out the mechanism after trying a couple of wrong things before it finally clicked in to place in my mind. Then the log was quickly in hand and signed, it's probably around 80% full so will need replacing at some time by a kind future finder. Thanks Team Sunderland.

19-May-16
ok well that was truely interesting. my dad sister and I went into the bush looking for this geocache hoping what the last log wasn't true..... after a minute of looking we found the cache container and went to have a look not knowing where the last logger had seen this 'big scary spider' it took us a while to figure out how to retrieve the cache from its container, but as the cache was almost in our hands... out pops a little visitor. Oh my goodness! it really was the biggest hairiest spider I had ever seen and it was on the cache in the container!!

not really sure whether I would call this a DNF or not but I guess we found the cache, sadly we didn't get to sign the log as we were a bit scared and ran away.

nice little cache but would recommend being careful before someone goes to check on the cache. TFTC Smile

19-May-16
Well I found the cache but when I found the actual cache (you will know what I'm talking about when you find it) and there was the big hairiest spider I have ever seen so I ran away. TFTC

11-May-16
Thought I would try to covert this previous DNF to a smiley whilst passing through the area today.

Having found the outer container previously, there was no dramas finding it again today. Unlike last time, the "mechanism" was working well and I looked to set to complete this cache. However, once the cache was almost "all the way up", I spotted something that didn't look like a cache and it was moving! It was the biggest, hairiest spider I have ever seen. This has been mentioned in other logs, so I am guessing he is calling this place home occasionally. I just said NOPE, lowered the cache "all the way down" and got out of there.

Maybe I will try again another day or maybe I am just destined not to complete this cache...

14-Apr-16
Of course you deserve a favourite love your cache holder. TFTC

26-Mar-16
Had some fun at Rise of the Machine 1 so decided to head up here.

GZ was a bit harder to find this time (ended up on the wrong side of the gully) - future finders your best bet is to approach from the playground side.

Found without too much problems. The mechanism proved a bit hard to operate and despite having the right idea it required quite a bit of force to get going. Once moving, however, it worked fine - might a bit of WD-40 and drying out.

Thanks Team Sunderland for another interesting cache.

13-Feb-16
Another creative hide. Soon worked out what we needed to do. TFTC

13-Feb-16
Took a while to figuire out how to work it

13-Feb-16
Found it clever hide Smile

06-Feb-16
TS caches are always enjoyable to find so don't know why I have waited so long to find this one.

Well I did find the outer container at least today but that was as far as I got. The cache looks like it has been knocked around a bit. The star picket has been removed and the container is a little shaggy around the edges.

I thought I knew what needed to be done to access the cache proper but nothing was budging. I tried a few different things in attempt to get some movement, but had no luck. Either there is a problem with the cache or my approach method is incorrect.

I will leave this one for another day once I see what others log from this point on..

02-Dec-15
Tricky little one but very good

29-Nov-15
That was fun. Of course we came from the wrong direction bush bashing...

20-Nov-15
I headed over the paddock and eventually saw the cache behind a tree. An inspection revealed the mechanism and the operation was completed. TFTC
