It was great to see how many people braved the chilly conditions .
Great turn out !

To help my friend celebrate and to help recognise the hard work he's put in to achieve his amazing achievement, I decided to achieve my own little goal by today ... my 100th find. Which I have.
Many thanks to ahomburg for putting on this Event. It was fantastic to see familiar and many New faces, and all in all a great night. Given we were getting Very close to 0 degrees up there, and snow was a very real possibility, it was fantastic to have hot food and drinks which were provided by our host.
Many thanks to ahomburg, and may your next milestone (hopefully) be celebrated in a slightly warmer timer of year. (Cheeky grin)
I'd like to say TNLN, but I technically took/ate a couple of sausages in bread ... not sure if that counts

Grats Adriaan! Nice to meet a few cachers I haven't met before, it was quite weird being up on top of a mountain in such foggy conditions.
Number 800!!!!
Congratulations ahomburg, It was great to be able to get to the event to recognise your fantastic achievement. My best streak is 50 days and even that was pretty difficult so I can really admire the dedication to get through 366 days. It was also good to catchup with yourself as well as get a chance to meet some other cachers whose names I have seen in many logbooks.
The fact the weather was not ideal only added to the adventure and made for a truly memorable event.

Find #4000
Streak: 366 days
Well, the answer is yes, I did attend my own event, it would be a bit rude to not show up.
I must say, I was impressed with the resilience of the 50 odd cachers that turned up, not just to sign the log book but to stay a while and socialize despite the frigid temperatures down to close to zero degrees. This included about 15 attending their first event.
I had prepared a contingency plan by bringing a large gas heater which kept people inside the shelter and nice and warm. I think this was the best thing I brought with me.
A massive thank you must go to all the Cache owners that have helped me towards this 366 consecutive days of caching and indeed the 4000 finds.
Congratulations go to all the prize winners. Thanks go to KTCvic for the beanie prize donation, much appreciated thanks mate.
Congratulations to others that have also hit a milestone at or near this event:
Biggles Bear - 366 days of consecutive caching
Nanton33 - 800 finds
Obi-Cal - 100 finds
day1976 - almost 1000 finds
LegoMan9x, MrWho67, Mark&Kelly, Winniethebear, Zeus, Hera & kids, s360kid, 360albertkid, coupmstr, rmdhudson, Bucks23, kenneallykrew, miniman000, sando23468, team.sk, The Rusty's - First Event
These are the ones i know about. I am sure there are others.
Final thanks must go to those last few cachers(Mark&Kelly and Morcs4) that stayed behind to help pack up and made 6x 200m trips into just 1. Simply AWESOME.

With work all done for the day we had an early dinner and headed to this event, although we were out in good time the traffic, cars, rain, trucks, fog and more people that make you wonder why they drive made the trip a bit slower than planned.
We arrived to find the event in full swing and thanks to the 4wd we found an easy parking spot, wow what a turnout for a night event that was destined to snow if it could. After chatting away for some time our frozen feet and the need to pick up a son from work had us heading off for home.
Our thanks to Ahomburg for the event,

Well it was a bit cold and wet but that wasn't going to stop me from attending an event to mark an amazing milestone. Well done mate on completing your 366 challenge as well as hitting the 4000 milestone too. The tower heater supplied was fantastic on this chilly night.
An impressive turn out considering the conditions and was great to catch up & chat with some familiar faces and meet new ones too.
I met Ahomburg during the first event I attended "Easter at Home" in 2011 which was also my 400th cache. Well since then we have been on some big wild runs all over and around Victoria together and have found quite a few caches ~2000+ (I think??). Its been awesome fun...
A fitting location for such an event and an exciting drive up the hill thru the fog and rain while dodgying brush tail possums.
TFTE & all the hides placed in and around the Dandenong ranges.

Sadly, due to the inclement weather, I am still at work and regretfully find myself unable to attend.
Congratulations on your achievements Adriaan.
Have a great event everyone and please be careful driving back down.

This was my first event cache and it was great to meet some people and put some faces to the names, even though the weather was a bit challenging, well organised a homburg well done TFTC.
And I will have to note thanks to Corinna my wife for coming with me as it was so out of her comfort zone XXX.

First event and it was great to meet up with a number of people and start putting names to faces.
Weather didn't help, but neither did it stop a dedicated group turning up.
Completed the August challenges once the COs give permission to sign off the log.
Thanks for the event/cache Adrian.

The fog that had rolled in gave the area a very atmospheric feeling for our arrival at the event and to our surprise it lifted latter on, so we headed off to try and take some photos of the city lights.
Today also marked our 366th straight day of caching now we can relax and get on with a normal life
Thanks to ahomburg for organising this event.

Congratulations ahomburg on 4000 finds and 366 days of caching, what an effort.
A great turnout on such a miserable night. An event cache can now be marked off for the month of August. Thanks ahomburg

Awesome event & great achievement ahomburg .
The rolling , thickness of the Fog & the chilliness gave it that added touch!
Did I mention , I can't feel my feet . Lol!
It was great once again to see some familiar faces & also great to meet some new ones !

Yay, I won *FTF*. First time I've won anything in ages.
I headed out after dinner and arrived right on time to see the BBQ going under the umbrellas and light rain but no snow.
Took cover under the shelter shed and met up with a few familiar and some new faces and had a really nice chat in between rain showers for a couple of hours. Had to get early so left about 9:15pm.
Congratulations Adriaan on the milestone and thanks for the event nice and early in the month to tick off my first souvenir. I was talking to geo_jas who had collected all 7 of his today already so he inspired me on the way home ans since it wasn't raining I picked up a multi from my 10km zone for my 2nd souvenir for the day.

Made my way up the mountain and parked the GeoRanger. Luckily the rain was light so the walk to the shelter was brisk but pleasant. Wow for a cold wet night what a turn up!!!! Caught up with plenty of familiar faces, a few newbies with lots of laughs. Sampled a couple of snags and thankfully grabbed a cup of coffee. Congrats to the prize winners, hope those that got a beanie enjoy them.
Thanks for the great event ahomburg!!!

Congratulations Adriaan! Nice to meet you tonight. Great event you put on! Amazing to see so many intrepid cachers out on the coldest night of the year! Thanks for all your caches! Cheers from pippin69!! Happy Caching!
Today's severe weather was an overture to an enchanting evening. Old and new geocaching buddies met amongst swirling mists and dripping trees. I wore enough warm gear to ski in and was comfortable enough. On the way down soft snow started hitting my windscreen. Pure magic!
Congratulations Adriaan and well done on planning such a terrific event. The weather added an adventurous dimension that most geocachers appreciated.

Awesome to meet more geocacher. I think we need to have more events in the far eastern suburbia. Thanks to Adrian for organizing. I had a ball even though it was cold.
Our first event and we so enjoyed meeting such friendly people on such a freezing night! Thanks to Adriaan for organizing and to Mark, Steve, Adam, Melina and KTCVic for the chats. We ended the night with a drink at Oscar's in belgrave - perfect!
Find #1464. Attended @ 19:00 until 21:00
I'm always impressed when cachers manage to string together consecutive days worth of finds. A year is a great achievement, I would take my hat off to you ahomburg, but it is just too cold.
I happened to arrive at the same time as Morcs4, and we made our way to the darkened pavilion to find... a large gathering of people we couldn't really see.
I mingled for quite a while, talking with a bunch of long standing cachers I'd met before, and some newer ones that I'd not.
I may have performed some magic by making a sausage in bread disappear (and of course followed up with the time honoured tradition of an encore performance), but this is an unsubstantiated rumour.
I also wrangled a way to spend some quality time by the heater while engaging in conversation.
Sadly no prizes came my way, but congrats to those who's numbers came up.
It is always the case at these shindigs that you never get around to talking to everyone you want to.
At about 9pm I decided it was time to head home and found myself walking to the cars with spiffy and geo_jas.
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the event ahomburg.

This event was attended by a number of members of the bushrangers Womens Walking Club. Great attendance despite the bitterly cold weather.
Thanks ahomburg

After a couple of wrong turns I finally made my way to the surprisingly full car park. A quick walk up the hill to the very full shelter where I enjoyed catching up with a few old friends. All too quickly it was time up head back to the warmth of home.
Thanks ahomburg for the event. As soon as I hear back on a virtual, this will be the souvenirs done.

Well today wasn't exactly what I had planned with a few changes occuring. This event was still on in it's original location and I was determined to make it. A fantastic result for you Adriaan in many ways. A wonderfully large turn out on the worst day of winter so far. Thanks for the coffee. Totally needed it! I even had 2 cups. It was great to see some new faces. Day1976 and I went off to do some caching together afterward as August is no caching month for him. Poor Day Anyway. August is a busy month for me so I hope that I can get all the icons. Thanks for the event.
Attended this one tonight in the cold wet (but no snow unfortunately for Mr Coffee!). I came a bit later, saw a full carpark and thought there must be a geocaching event on otherwise all these cars would be tucked up at home in bed! I met the Coffees as I was arriving near the gate so we had our own quick mini event before going onto the real event. Nice to meet some cachers new and old and to congratulate Adriaan on his milestones. Ended up congregating around the heater until ahomburg decided that enough was enough. I became the light bearer for the heater removalists and left after having a cold but great time.
Thanks for the event ahomburg and congratulations.

I think it is testament to the esteem with which you are held by the geocaching community that around 40 people braved the cold, rain, wind, hail and finally snow to attend this event and help you celebrate your 366th consecutive day of caching and your 4,000th find overall. Congratulations and well done.
Thank-you for organising this event. It was great to meet some very new cachers and to be able to dispense answers to some questions. Always good to meet familiar faces too.

What an exciting day for KenneallyKrew and myself. After meeting the newest member of our teams we rugged up in our warmest winter woollies (geodaughter6 took some convincing as she likes to get around in summer gear all year) we snuggled into the car to head to GZ for our first event cache. The allure of the August challenge was our incentive to brave the icy, foggy and all round miserable weather. That and the chance to meet some fellow geocachers. The drive up Churchill was a little hairy when only one cats eye was visible ahead of the car headlights. We saw someone else alighting there vehicle who confirmed we were in the right spot so parked and bundled out of the car. Frustratingly the geogremlins removed our torches from their usual spot so and with one source of illumination we traipsed up to the well lit goal. Funnily enough we were followed by Rusty's who was the first fellow cacher KKrew met not long after starting the sport. It was really lovely to meet a few of those who we follow in our adventures. A huge thanks to ahomburg for a well planned event and congrats on your achievement. Sorry we had to log and dash but with the geokids and now geopup in tow most of our caching jaunts are about speed and this was no exception.
After recently completing my second loop of the DT matrix, I have spent quite a bit of time away from the family on long drives all over the countryside. Finally, the good muggle wife said to me that I needed to pull back a bit and spend time with the kids (kids? I have kids?, oh yes that's right, I do!) So she proposed that August be a caching free month. Further negotiations ensured and ultimately August will be a caching free month for me except for this event, the Banana event at the end of the month and any FTF opportunities that might pop up.
BernieH and I decided to meet an hour before hand at the base of the infamous Lyrebird track and relive our Trailwalker anguish to arrive at the event. Wasn't as bad as I remembered and was quite a deal easier in the cold. We arrived very early, but ahomburgh was already there and sausage cooking was in full swing.
It was a cold night, not too windy, but rain and plenty of fog, didn't see any snow. Caught up with some old friends and met some new ones. A great mix of people with some VERY experienced cachers mixing well with some of the newer amongst us. There was the usual talk of puzzle solving, evil hides and "WOW, you so have to do this cache!"
I first met ahomburgh at Starruby's 366 day event, which was 2 years and 2 days ago, back then he was just shy of 2000 finds, whilst I hadn't even broken 100 at the time. That was my first event! Ahomburg was also the first cacher I ever went caching with, in January 2013, prior to that I had always cached solo. Since then we have been on some crazy adventures!
So congratulations ahomburg on a fine achievement, both for the 366 day and the 4000 finds. Great effort! The great turn out of attendance in such inclement weather is a real tribute to the esteem you are held in within our community.
Oh, and thanks for all the hides too!

Ongoing weather reports were being given out and with only 10 people nominating attendance at this event during the last update the bananas needed to add strength to thar arm. A small detour on the way tested the "Wetgear" that B1 was wearing.
Driving through inches of hail, sleet, melting snow and fog put the task in perspective.
But I overdressed and to top it off, won a prize hat. That was promptly passed onto a small new inductee to the sport.
What was impressive was in these unfavorable conditions all sorts of challenges with attitude were discussed and set.
Adrian has set many fine treasures out in the bush and deserves completion on many of these challenges that have been taken on.
When so few finds are able to be found it is great to have events like this to look forward to, attend and think about in hindsight.
Thank you for your wonderful contributions to the sport.

CONGRATULATIONS Adriaan on both your milestones. A fantastic achievement!!!!!!
A big thank you for putting on this event, we thoroughly enjoyed catching up with some we had met before and lots of new ones too. It's always a shame that you never get to meet everyone. To have such a turn out given the weather was amazing. A true testament to how well you are regarded in this game.
Being well rugged up I really enjoyed the weather conditions. There is nothing better than a walk in the fog and to do it in the dark is even better.
Thanks ahomburg for this event and hope there are more to come.

It was cold, it was wet, but it was ahomburg's event!
After originally persuading the hubby to come along, it was he who kept us coming...
I had almost decided it was too frosty for me, but no, go we must.
We arrived and wandered towards the light, which was Ahomburg himself cooking snags in the rain! Then to the shelter, which at one stage I didn't think was going to fit anymore people!
Considering I was starting to not be able to feel my toes and fingers, this was a great event with a great turnout! So glad I came, and so glad it was held!
Congratulations on your milestones! Here is to many more!

After a bit of a scary drive through the very thick fog up the hill we finally reached our destination and was amazed at the amount of people braving the cold tonight. A nice hot coffee was enjoyed ( thank you ) and it was great to meet some familiar faces as well as new.
Thanks ahomburg for organising the event and a big congratulations on your very impressive milestones.

Our first event, chance to meet some diehard cachers, learnt that 5 in a day is just not even close to brag worthy at least as far as geopeople are concerned...thanks Adrian well done on your achivements!
Mr Homburg. Thanks for the event. Congrats on the stats. Keep smiling pal. See you soon.

Attended with Winniethebear. Tried to get to our first event as soon as we could, but unfortunately arrived pretty late and it was dark and no food left. Arrived a few minutes before the log was taken for names to the prizes. Luckily we both won prizes! Met some nice cachers, and got a few clues from SirJ-Oz, met sharkiefan, day1976 and Mark&Kelly.
Thanks ahomburg for holding the event.
Hopefully we will get a chance to do another meetup event which is a bit warmer and also during the day, so we can put more faces to handles.

I was determined to make this event whatever the weather, and JMelb not being keen. As I approached it did not look too bad until I got up the mountain a bit and ran into the fog. Eventually I arrived and was surprised by the full to overflowing car park and even fuller to overflowing shelter.
Great event Adrian, nice to catch up with you in your "native habitat". Shared many caching experiences and now have many more puzzles to solve, caches to find and trees to climb thanks to other cachers suggestions.
Thanks Adrian, Gary (GJMMelb, or part of)

Attended this event from 8:00pm, find # 3473.
CONGRATULATIONS Adriaan on both your milestones, being 366 days in a row and your 4000th cache find,
I'm a little bit behind you at the moment.
It was great to mark this occasion with a great event on this, dark, wet, cold, icy, stormy night, so it was great to see so many people attend, it was also great to catch up with friends and have a chat to some new members of this great game.
I first met Adriaan at my 365th cache find on the 14th of August 2010 and we crossed paths and communicated many times since that day.
Thanks to ahomburg for hosting this event.

Congratulations ahomburg on an excellent achievement, but one that will live for a short time only as I am sure that 5000 will be forthcoming in a very short while.
When I found out where this event was to be held I could think of no more fitting way to arrive than by foot, a pleasant Dandenong Meander, and so it was that Day and I decided our travel mode.
The weather reports were shaping up to be similar to our Oxfam walk, storms including hail and or snowfalls. During Oxfam the storms hardly eventuated but not last night, the walk up was encouraging as it was only cold and raining and foggy. The walk down 2 hours later was not quite as easy as a moderate amount of light hail was also encountered although thoughts of a nice warm house drawing nearer made the task bearable.
Thanks for organising the event Adriaan, it was good to catch up with many other cachers again.

I can't make the event, but congratulations, Adriaan - that's really a great achievement (and dedication!)
hoping to attend, hopefully the roads will not be closed by vic roads due to the likelihood of storms, snow or hail.
Hoping to make it but expecting a new addition to our household and team so will decide if he can come out after he gets here.
Hoping to attend but expecting a new edition to the kenneallykrew, a rescue geokelpie!

Despite the freezing conditions, I'd like to drop by and say hello before retreating inside my igloo! Cheers!
Looks like it may be a cool night, make sure you bring your winter woollies, the show must go on .
I (Or a helper) will be cooking up some sausages so anyone that is hungry can get a sausage in bread .
I have managed to borrow a Gas heater, so there will be some warmth about.
There will be a random number generated prize draw.

I'm planning on attending because it's not about the numbers, it's about celebrating the numbers.
Was hoping to attend a hopefully white xmas in Aug but a school concert will keep me at bay.
Great effort on the successive days and well done for the 4,000.

I would love to go there for 7 Souvenirs of August but I cant make as It's my regular playing Darts Friday night.
Thanks for the invite but a leg injury has put me in a brace and out of action. Have a great time.
We'll try and make this event as it will mark 366 days of continuous caching too
It would be great to be able to attend as I am local to the area and have found a few of everyone's caches and would be great to put some faces to some names, but alas some of us work afternoons to keep the world moving so I will be unable to attend.
We're newbies that have done a lot of your caches as we live close by. Looking forward to meeting you. Congratulations!
I'll be there with bell's on. Actually no ... no bells. I don't do comedy.
Awesome effort mate, I look forward to the celebrations.
