Logs
Enjoying our walk along the river this evening. When we arrived at the GZ we noticed it certainly lived up to its title. Again we had problems with our GPS and we searched in many locations before reading some previous logs that help to guide us to this find.

I cant believe this series of caches are nearly 9 years old and its only today we managed to make it here, finally took the bike with us and had time enough to tick them off, took a little expanding to find but within the acceptable range
thanks for the placements!

Neat spot! There was a post lying on the ground and I thought it must be around there but after giving that idea up I quickly found it nearby
This took a little hunting but got there in the end. Thanks for placing your cache.
Ms_KR and I are off on our annual pilgrimage to Auckland to visit family. Today we cruised around the Hamilton area for a bit. The thunder rattled occaissionally and the rain teemed down at one stage.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. .

Run/walk/cache day today from Fonterra to the perry bridge. Wet and humid! Found it ok. A slug has taken up residence within the canister so we did not write on the log sheet as we could not extract the sheet without dislodging the slug. Slug-1, cachers-0.
Day out along the Te Awa on our bikes with TEAM SEAC after a prior rained-out mission. Lovely day hanging with fab friends and finding some caches along the way. TFTC
Today we set out as a Team SEAC group to bike the Te Awa riverside bike trail on a lovely Saturday morning. After getting rained out on a previous attempt to do this ride we finally got a sunny spring day to do the Ngaruwahia to Hamilton Gardens leg. It took us about 5 hours to do approx. 34km with plenty of geocaching and lunch along the way. TFTC!
A group of like minded people had been motivated by Mrs NZTravellers to cycle the river trail from Ngaruawahia to The Hamilton Gardens...it had been postponed before and today was the day, and the weather looked good to support a fun day full of adventure and crazyness......
Dropped bikes and gear at Ngaruawahia and headed down to the gardens where we were to drop off a car for the return drive, and then headed back....
We were met by others, which meant we were ready to set off.
Found this one a little ways away from given co-ordinates....
Signed in as SEAC to save logbook space and onto the next.....
TFTC.

Was out with Team SEAC on another adventure. Riding this route was in the making for a while but due to weather conditions, we had to put it off another month, till today!
A little while ago Mrs NZTravellers suggested we have a day out to ride this trail...unfortunately the original date that was planned had really rough weather so this was the alternative date. A group of around 12 of us turned up and off we went. It was a usual Team SEAC outing with adventure, laughter and a few mishaps along the way!
This one was probably the hardest of the day and actually it wasn't too hard after all...a few searching with no luck then B4Dawn stepped in and it was suddenly located...yay!
Thanks for the cache.

A sizeable group of Team SEAC had decided to bike the first stage of the Te Awa Bike Ride from Ngaruawahia to the Botanical Gardens in Hamilton. This was our second attempt, as some particularly nasty weather thwarted our previous attempt before we even got started. Luckily, today the weather played ball and we enjoyed a pleasant day's bike ride along the mighty Waikato River.
Sorry that I am not able to post my usual stories about each and every cache that we came across, but I am too buggered after the ride. So generic logs it is this time. We still appreciate all the work that goes into the caches that we found, and thank the COs for planting the caches along this lovely track. We really enjoyed the bike ride and the caching.
The log was signed as Team SEAC, or just SEAC to preserve log space.

Out with members of Team SEAC cycling the Te Awa Bike trail. Awesome day out and a total of 34kms! Thanks for placing this cache and getting outside on our bikes
A few months ago Mrs NZT suggested a cycle ride from Ngaruawahia to the Hamilton Gardens. Our first attempt was postponed due to bad weather. So today a group of us from Team SEAC finally got to do the planned outing. It ended up being 34kms, taking nearly 5 hours, involved lots of laughs, and getting a good number of caches along the way. Lots of possible locations here. We started at GZ with no luck and expanded until it was spotted a several meters from the posted co-ords. Log signed Team SEAC to save space on the log. TFTC.
I wanted to sign this one but I could not get the lid off, so I have taken a picture of the cache. Travelling light so had no tools to help. Might need a new container?
Anyhow happy to have found it, loving the Te Awa cycle trail, on my way to Cambridge from Ngāruawāhia.
Thanks for the hide kiwiteachernz

Whilst cycling from the Hamilton Gardens to Ngarawhaia and back, we stopped to collect a few caches along the way. A quick find once we had the right post. Took a bit of effort (and an almost broken finger nail) to open this cache. TFTC
Out riding the Ngaruawahia / Hamilton trail today. Soon located the right hint item and had the cache located. TFTC
This eas the turnaround point for our walk today. Took longer to spot than it should have but it was in a logical place. Will have to come back for a longer walk or ride. The last visitor jammed the log in so hard we couldn't get it out. TFTC!!!
Found this with FMZ while out walking this evening. This was as far as we went today. TYFTC!
After a couple of DNFs this made my geocache buddy happy and ready to find the last one for the day
Found at base of a post in the pines, in the pines, where the sun don't ever shine
Found the post no problem....with an appropriate hole.
Disturbed a poor slater with my tweezers....I suspect the medi tube has fallen out?
Did not have one in my geo bag so added some paper as a temporary measure.

Found while on a cycle ride down the river today.
We have been forced to stay with relatives as there is an Akld lockdown due to Covid 19.
We hope to be on our way North again soon.QEF here. TFTC

Day 31 of my TA adventure and a casual walk into the city grabbing a few along the way..
Took longer to get the top off than it did to find tftc

Found it during a bike ride along the river. Replaced the log sheet that was wet for a waterproof one.
Nice early walk on a cool morning. Straight forward find. Log book soddened but managed to sign it. TFTC
Found on our te araroa thru-hike. Really enjoying the shade, breeze, and all the informative signs along this section!
People passing produced pressure. Perseverance plus patience prevailed. Pleasant place. Perfect placement.
Got it, I would have found it faster but the children claimed to check the spot ... but hadn’t. Easy find in the end.
I'm slowly chipping away at these Hamilton caches and anytime is a good time for another raid - even in the rain! Mc Jandals was the only one crazy enough to join me as I plowed through a fairly specific bunch of trads, multis and solved puzzles. A neat little walk here to help pump up our step count. This cache was found quickly and in good condition thanks to a straight forward hint and placement. Cheers kiwiteachernz & TFTC
On another Waikato mission. What better way to spend a rainy day. I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these caches. Many Thanks for bringing us here. Cheers
I was over for the weekend visiting family and managed to persuade my sister in law to vary her early morning dog walking route so that we could go together and pick up some caches along the way.
This area has certainly changed a lot since I lived in Hamilton 28 years ago.
We parked up near by and this was the first cache along the way.
I over shot GZ initially, so back tracked a little. It took a few attempts before laying my hands on the prize.
Thanks for another smiley. I'm loving this new track

Have been meaning to bicycle this way again for a long time, since I saw the track grow longer and gain a bridge. Finally did. And found this. Unlike the first time. TFTC.
#522. Mr Northwood had to get up early to drop one of the junior Northwoods at a friend's house for a sports trip. So he decided to make good use of the early start (and avoid the heat later).
Pleased to have made the first find for the morning, I set back toward the car hopeful of securing the others. Successful at this spot, all in good order. TFTH.

A beautiful stretch along the Waikato River with enough caches to keep the kids walking and engaged.
The Freezer Mice strike again!!!
Took the kids out for a bike along the river path, and coaxed them into it with the promise of some caching along the way.

GPS was a bit changeable here, but located the cache after checking several spots. TFTC
Decided to get the bike out and head over to do some bike trails and few other caches in the northern area. The weather was beautiful and I loved the nice path and great bridges. Thanks to the COs for some great cache placements. TFTC
Pazza2 invited me to join them and start off the New Year with a cycle ride on this very cool cycle way. This one didn't take too long to find
As we put some push and puff into those peddles, pretty soon we can clock up the numbers. tftc kiwiteachernz.
Last cache of the day, and with it getting late, I pondered whether to go for one last cache, but as this was close to the others, I felt why not. It turned out to be a bad decision as when I arrived at GZ, I was greeted with lots of posts and pines. Some guidance on whether it is a post or pine would be a good start. After 15 minutes of looking, I had to call it a day. With expecting 5 or 6 caches on the walk, and only getting 3 plus lots of extra search time, it does affect your caching mojo, like the 18 DNFs with only 33 finds today.
Now this one something did happen. I finish finding the cache...nice easy find. Carried on up the path to the next. Then I notice a tree starting to move. Slowly and silently. As it moved the roots started to appear. Then swoosh and crash into the river. WOW!! So cool. Lol.! Never seen a tree fall over before. So loud when it hit the ground. Tftc
I suddenly had a "What's the date? " moment and was worried I'd been signing the wrong date all day. It's getting to that time in the day. TFTC.
