WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 9 - Whyalla to Cleve via Cowell. I have reached my first area with new counties to be tackled, but it was mostly a roadside day of caching with a side trip into Cowell and an afternoon on Cleve where I am spending the night at the show grounds. The silo art in Cowell was amazing and the trip out to the jetty for one of the Labs was very bouncy on the scooter. I even managed to large metalwork caches without any dramas. As ever, a bit of history thrown in during the day and a few random spots to keep it all interesting. One of serval roadside caches done today without any problems. The bike trail was a bit unexpected. I even saw some people using it.Thanks for the cache TheKellyGang46580.19 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2007 Compass Rose Silver A#75**Albida**
TFTC TheKellyGang your cache Cuppa Time cleve that we found today. Camped in Cowell. Nice fishing today, Strong Wind Warning issued. After a nice sleep in we ventured out to Cleve. A new LGA for us. Called it a day but we had collected 19 caches and the Adventure Lab.Find Count: 17617

We did a few caches along the road today, where we found it suitable to pull over with a caravan on.
Drove around Cowell looking at the highlights of the town
Have now settled into the amazing camping area at Cleve.
Washing done, we cached around the town area & one AL completed.
Some great cahes found in some interesting areas.
Thankyou to the CO's for placing these caches.

Took off to the North West a bit with Purrfect Di to avoid the rains back home.
Turned out this worked quite well as we only had a couple of showers for the whole weekend and saw some great scenery and found the odd cache or two!
Always nice to find a Kelly Cuppa. Cheers, and hi to our friend Turd
Many thanks to TheKellyGang for placing and maintaining this cache on our SA geo-map

Travelling around - searching, spotting and signing cache logs using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S21u, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just a guyess or plain old dumb luck
Plenty of that luck stuff actually !!!
*All the online logs are composed and published with GSAK of course.*

Beware! Caching is a very hazardous activity!
Look out for sand, mud, snakes, surprise cliffs, roos, wombats, things falling from trees, bulldust, and floods, and sharp rocks in your tyres
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall off your ladder...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- and do watch out for germs and bugs !!! . [xx(]
Make Travel Bugs the Only bugs you share and pass on
Keep your distance - cache the countryside
Really fantastic of all those placing quality caches out and about around the country areas,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game safe, fun, and interesting
Thanks so much for reading all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, apparently! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Maybe if I worked out where I could do it and go back to normal logs again !

Made my way to this aptly named cache. Parked in safest place nearby and walked in the short distance. OK so I chose the more difficult of terrains to get to cache. Of course the exit was via the easier terrain but, hey, I got to explore just a fraction more than I needed to!! Cache is sitting nicely in a dry area with no signs of damage and plenty of room under for drainage even if it does get wet underfoot. Log has plenty of room and is safe and dry. TYFTC SL TNLN
We are finally able to travel interstate without heaps of loops to jump through. We thought we would take it easy and have a look around South Australia and grab a few more LGA's while we were here.
Out for a morning run on a windy and damp morning while camping at the wier. It was a quick find here.
This was find number 2 for the day.

Out for some more caching fun around Cleve this morning along with ilook4geo. We had a good run and enjoyed the country roads as well as the town hides. This was an easy cache to find and all was done to keep the paperwork in order. Thank you to TheKellyGang for placing this cache which we were happy to find and be able to claim the smiley.
Went out hunting for more caching treasure today with goingplaces2 while staying in Cleve. Had a good day and enjoyed most of the finds. Name was added to each log and all was replaced as found. TFTC.

This weekend, I joined gridge98 on a trip to Eyre Peninsula, primarily visiting Port Lincoln and its surroundings. We saw its famous marina full of trawlers, and we also ended up visiting Coffin Bay and enjoyed fresh oysters. A nice weekend with weather, and certainly a great vicinity to see.
Today leaving Whyalla, we headed down the Lincoln Highway, passing through Cowell, Cleve, Arno Bay, Port Neill, and Tumby Bay. Just prior to lunch, we also completed the *Cleve Cleaver* geoart trail. A rather long day of geocaching numbers, but the inland and coastal towns were enjoyable to visit, along with the various picturesque beaches along the way.
We parked on the main road, and I walked down to this cache. Luckily, I managed to see the cache upon approach, and found the cache about 5 m from GZ (so close enough ok). The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks TheKellyGang for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Today davidwazza and I made our way from Whyalla to Port Lincoln as part of a weekend away to clean up as much as we could. Today was filled with some good and bad times, plus a few car issues along the way but all in all a great day out and 105 caches found in total.
Thanks for the cache

A planned day trip in the Cleve area concentrating on the cleaver geo art, then some of the others in the area while we still had daylight before heading back to our accomadation, this was one of the extras we had planned to collect, how can one not stop and have a cuppa, cache was found in good order and cache style we have come to expect with this series, while signing the log a particular truck brand went past and wondered if the CO was at the wheel.

Thanks for the cache TKG.

We were close to the end of our day caching when we stopped for this cache. We had to chose our path down carefully as the bank was quiet unstable. We were certainly ready for a cuppa when we reached the hidding spot. Container and contents were in good condituon.
Thanks to TheKellyGang for this cache hide - an excellent piece of recycling.

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.
Currently in Cleve, camped out by the weir. Weather today is not very nice, cold and bleak, and it is Sunday, so Cleve is closed! What else is there to do? Go caching again of course.
Nice walk to retrieve this one before going back to the van for lunch. Thanks The KellyGang

Found during a tour of the Gawler Ranges and Eyre Peninsula for the week, on a route that saw us traveling to Kimba, Streaky Bay, Tumby Bay, Cleve and Whyalla and camping out near Secret Rocks, Kolay Hut (Gawler Ranges), Pildappa Rock, Port Kenny and Yeldulknie Weir (Cleve), all the while finding caches along the way. Thanks for the cache TheKellyGang!
After caching around Tumby Bay and Arno Bay in the freezing cold, we made this a quick drive by on the way back to Cleve. Thanks TheKellyGang
Day 2. heading in the direction of Port Lincoln for some 4 x 4 caches in the national parks and the kayak caches down there. Also targeting letterbox and earth caches on route plus the odd multi. Stopped for the trads if they where bigger than a micro in size along this road. quick find.

Have been working in the area and it was time to head home as the work was done. Saw this was on the way and just had to stop and finish my own cuppa while finding this cache. Quick find, sign the log and replaced. Back on the road home.

This one would have been a lot easier to access if we'd ridden this wonderful bike trail here but no, we did it from the road.
Mr Beetle waited in the van while I crossed the road to look for this one. As usual I chose the hardest way to get to it and probably went down the steepest part of the bank. Mind you at this end of a long caching day I'll take any risk to get there the shortest way possible!!!
The telltale sign of a cache hide was soon spotted.
Now a cuppa would have been okay but at this stage of the day happy hour was a more appealing thought.
Thanks, a nice container that is protecting its contents very well and ties in with the cache name beautifully.

Day 4 of BarnZy and Cravo’s trip from Perth to Adelaide.
Today we travelled from Elliston on the Eyre Peninsula to Whyalla.
We kicked off relatively early, just before sun up and in some intense fog before starting our journey to Whyalla.
We travelled along the Birdseye Highway for the most part of the day, which was a fitting name as we needed an eagle eye to find some of the caches today.
Caching along the highway was good with a great variety of cache containers found, before heading into Lock, which was a very quaint small town, albeit we had little success finding the caches in town.
We moved along the he Cleve Cleaver series which was a great bunch of relatively quick finds, taking just under 2 minutes per cache as we started to get the rhythm of the caches along these parts. Great small power trail which kept us interested with some nice hiding spots.
Continuing along the highway we caches through Cleve, grabbing a few of the nifty letterbox hybrid hides which were most fun, were trying to collect more letterboxes which makes these caches really valuable.
After leaving Cleve we continued along the highway to Cowell, where we enjoyed a nice hot beef roll from the bakery for lunch before continuing up the Lincoln Highway towards Whyalla.
We arrived in Whyalla a little earlier than planned which was good as we had planned to complete the August series trail by torchlight. Before we completed the August series we eyed off a D5 cache Honeymoon Hilton which was an absolutely brilliant cache at a well staged ground zero and a brilliant hide, thankfully we didn’t have to resort to phoning the CO.
We then turned our attention to the August series and loved the quick finds of well setup containers. I thoroughly enjoyed the series.
We then cached around town and managed to pickup the 5/5 Schoolies Challenge, which we had managed to qualify quite some time ago.
We finished up with a great dinner at the camp kitchen at the caravan park we’re staying at.
Great day out and can’t wait to tackle the other Whyalla power trail tomorow.

Day 4 of the Perth to Adelaide trip where we started in Elliston and ended in Whyalla.
Today was about finding as many caches as possible and starting / warming up to the larger power trails that bought is over here.
We completed the cleve clever series with a find every 2 minutes, and the August series with around 2 finds a minute.
The day started with a slight sleep in as the travell today was considerably less all up after the 4th day 2900km travelled.
During the morning we would of done most of it through thick fog yet again for the rest half hour despite a later start to
Anyway we made more tracks to Cleve, Cowell and many more in between.
The day also included B12 getting his 11000th cache on cache “August 11” and a total find tally of 112 caches.
TheKellyGang I found your cache Cuppa Time cleve thanks for placing this hide for myself and others to find.
Dunsborough is where it’s all at this year check it out at GC7GXQA October 13th + 14th. Hope to see you all there at WA Goes Big 2018.

A nice quick find as we make our way to port Lincoln to do a couple of days caching, a familiar style of hide and we haven't had our morning coffee yet. TFTC
Found this with CherryRose after the South Australian Rural Women's Gathering in Cleve.

Hi there TheKellyGang.
We found your cache **"Cuppa Time cleve"** at 11:35:00 AM today. This cache makes our find count 13899.
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip around the local area today. We usually start the day off by nominating a cache some distance away from our camp site and then take a route mainly determined by the next closest cache according to our GPS. Todays plan was an attempt to "clean out" Clever before heading back to camp at Cowell.
We ended up finding 20 & DNFing 0 caches today.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache around two metres from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

My GPS was playing tricks and we could only get to around 25 metres of cache.
Lucky a member of 5 Grains was also searching and after a look around it was retrieved.
Could have done with a cup of tea after looking for this one!

Hahaha.....this made me smile when we found the cache!!
Found whilst on a fabulous Easter long weekend caching trip with CPwanderer travelling from Adelaide to the Eyre Peninsula.
Today has been filled with much of the same as yesterday - fun, laughter and lots of crazy caching adventures [^] ....as well as flies (that were very friendly and seemed to like riding in the air conditioned car with us), HUGE and hungry ants (ouch!), a large nest of spiky caterpillars, cute little kangaroos and even having a close call with a DEATH ADDER SNAKE - keep in mind I was with CP!!
Thanks for the cache TheKellyGang

Off on a caching adventure with GoodLook on the Easter long weekend!! We had perfect weather and, for the route we were taking, surprisingly little traffic! Our target was the Cleve Cowell area althouth we started way before this. Our biggest challenge was the lack of anything open, apart from roadhouses, on the Friday and Saturday!!
Certainly a watertight container!!!

Found by Mary & David, in company with pprass (signed as m & p), at 1530. Stayed at Cowell last night. Today, we made our way across to Cleve to do the local caches, then back to Cowell again. Very clever. We would love a hot cuppa right now as it is freezing. Our thanks to TheKellyGang.
Found at 3:31 PM GAFF1 in the company of maccamob. We signed the log book as "M&P".
Didn't expect to see that sort of a cache hide, but then when we read the name of the cache it all made sense. However the ladies were starting to get anxious now and really did want a cuppa. So an express trip back to Cowell was in order.
Thanks TheKellyGang.

Starting out for the drive over to the Qld. Mega for the second time after some repairs to the vehicle caused the first attempt to fail making me lose two and a half days of the trip that was planned.
Now heading east again after spending a day in and around Cleve and called in to find this cache. Found without problems and the log signed.
