Previous activity records very helpful, as my cell phone put GZ sixmeters from where the cache was. A lovely patch of TFTC
This nearly had us stumped but once we moved on from the large red herring, the rest was easy. Tftc
Found with Cympull. Spent a bit of time looking round wrong stump then bingo found it. TFC
Thanks for your amazing cache cartertonic. I really appreciate the time you took to set up and maintain your caches. Wow... That log shows 2014. Inserted a small wp log. Was almost full. Found with Fisha1288 Cheers, Cympull.
Turangi was our chosen destination for Easter this year and despite the weather forecast the cycle trails and local event were on the to do list.ROS headed out with other cachers who were also staying in the NZMCA camp.Today the river trail was on the list after the event.Initially looked at the incorrect hint item and later located nearby TFTC.
After today's Easter at Turangi event, rattll and I, along with rosmar, came for a cycle along the river trail, picking up trads and completing the adlab as we went. Most were quick finds, some took a little longer. Signed, and returned as found. Tftc!
Enjoyed hiking the River Trail today together with Gandalf der Groe. Cache was easily found. TFTC
Well that took longer than it should have. I followed my brain rather than the compass. Studied the wrong one for too long. TFTC
Currently staying in turangi and enjoying mountain biking and bush walking and geocaching. We were biking the Tongariro trail again today and picking up caches that we skipped yesterday. Not the obvious one but still found fairly quickly, TFTC
No rainbows today until later when we crossed the Desert Road Thanks again cartertonic for hiding caches along this trail. We completed the 15km loop in about 3hours with a bit of jogging between some caches Found on a wet and humid day so glad the logs were all waterproof! TNLNSL TFTC
14th find for the day. Mr PorknPuha was looking for it in the wrong place. So, Mrs Porknpuha eagle eyes found it.TFTC
A beautiful afternoon to knock off the geocaches along this section of the Tongariro River trail. Cache is in good order, Cheers
Headed down to Taupo for a long weekend to attend the Possum Night Trail run on Saturday. Left Auckland early on Friday, getting stuck in the traffic on the way to Fielddays at Mystery Creek. Soon left the State Highway to travel down to Turangi.
On Friday I decided to complete the Tongariro River Trail. I completed the 14.75km circular route in 4 hours of caching. I parked on SH1 near the bridge into Turangi and headed up the steep route to start the walk.
I didn't let the last DNF put me off, but I just used my geo-sense and extended the search a little bit more to a more appropriate hint item.

Although it was raining quite steadily I enjoyed my walk along the river trail this afternoon. I started at the Red Hut Bridge and walked north for about 3 Km before retracing my steps. TFTC
I decided to walk the loop track between the two swing bridges on the Tongariro River. Up the Eastern side side and down the Western. There was an AdLab cache, with a bonus, and several Trads. The full loop took me about 4.5 hours and was 11km long. I found 5 AdLab locations and 15 Trads in total. Not a bad haul.
I read the previous cacher's log to help me.
Cheers for the cache, cartertonic.

Saw a really big item that fitted the clue, but after a short search realised it was too good to be true. Found a smaller candidate that was truly good.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Beautiful day today collecting caches along the Tongariro river. It’s so much fun, but has been ages since I last rode a bike, so I am sure I will be very sore. Looking at the smileys on the map though makes it all feel worth it. Thanks for the cache!
After a fairly lengthy search at the previous stop, it was back to business with a quick find here. I correctly identified the hint object and then even guessed right about exactly where the cache would be. I think it was about this time that we were enjoying a respite from the rain.
Also checked the obvious wrong spot first before looking a little further afield. GPS had me almost 10 meters away, but easy find once at the right hint, TFTC
After searching in a us wrong place for a while due to gps inaccuracy finally found it
Over from Australia for a couple weeks and picking up some NZ caches, lots of new opportunities

Some great views down to the swollen rushing river and plenty of nice track to traverse. All good here after stepping off the path to locate this cache.
Day 1 was getting there and catching up so left at a decent time across the Desert Road in pouring rain and wind-chill assisted chills. Managed a few finds before Liv turned up, then an easy orientation time for the first afternoon/evening.
A 3 day trip to Turangi is the plan for the weekend, but the weather is not looking likely to be all that favorable with lots of rain forecast. My youngest daughter is driving down for the weekend from Auckland to hang with Dad, so looking forward to that as I haven't seen here for a little while now. We stayed in the work's bach for the weekend and that was all good with sound amenities and a nice amount of caches were located. Also managed a soak in the Tokaanu hot pools, finished off 4 different Lab Cache series, and a couple of Geotour caches too. Thanks to all COs for their caches this weekend.

Another good spot. No rainbows currently but got the drizzle so it must only be a matter of time!

No rainbows were spotted, bit wet underfoot but luckily the rain held off on my jog along the trail.
quickly located and on to the next one.

Been in Turangi area for two nights, time for a bike along river to find some caches before heading home to Palmerston North. Thanks CartertoniC for the cache.
This one had us a bit stumped until I read some past logs and discovered there was another stump lol. Only took a few seconds to find it then.

Spending a week in Taupo, so a good excuse to pick a few caches along the way.

Had to go off piste for this one and trust the gps to get me near. Got a bit damp as undergrowth quite wet but found the poor thing. Cheers.
Staying in Tūrangi for the night before setting off to walk the Tongariro Northern Circuit. Having checked in to my accommodation there was plenty of time for a loop around the river walk and to pick off some caches on the way.
I gave up on this caches namesake over the river as the people there today seemed disinclined to help me find my way to the hatchery.
I wondered if this cache might be way up high but it was not to be. A quick find.
Thanks CartertoniC

Staying in Turangi for the night on our way south. Headed off early on the bike to explore the riverside trails. Great to be on two wheels in such stunning surroundings and finding caches as a bonus. Thanks cartertonic for setting this series. Loved the detailed hints. Cache and log all fine. Thanks for the smiley.
A nice quick find thanks.
Ms_KR and I are off on a wee tour of the North Island. It was a great weather most of today, well not wet and not windy! We were based around Turangi and mixed up the day with a bit af walking, biking and driving.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

sorry for a repeat post. But I had a great afternoon biking 10k of this trail with the 2 little whiches, got to love our pre teens hahaha Thank goodness for geocaching it's the only thing that motivates them to keep going so thanks for the cache.
Sent the girls hunting for this one GPS was jumping and there were 2 lickly choices so they had a race lol

March has been such a busy month, but not so much with getting out and about to indulge in finding some caches for myself. So what better way to remedy this than have a few days away in an area not previously cached out?
Cue a weekend of touring around the Tongariro National Park in good company. Exactly what I needed, and a weekend that would see me find over a hundred caches, including getting my 4000th, as well as grabbing some of the new PWGT caches.
I have often driven by this trail and thought I ought to walk it, so today my mate and I did just that. The rain threatened to perhaps cut our walking short, but it turned out to be an empty threat and we were able to complete it in 2 parts. No rainbows were seen today though. The cache itself was a nice and quick find at GZ, and encountering no issues with the container or the contents, the log was quickly signed and the whole thing replaced exactly as found.
Thanks for setting up and maintaining this cache, and sorry for the late logging.

I think this was a lesson that sometimes the answer is the obvious, but sometimes it is not. This one took a while because it turned out we needed to consider the less obvious. Very satisfying to find. TFTC and a fav awarded for the lesson.
It's early in the morning, I'm staying with caching friends not too far away. I'm caching while they're still asleep. I have my 9000th milestone coming up in a few hours and I need a few close by trads to get me the numbers to rustynz's community event this morning at 10am on Mnt Ruapehu.
Heading gradually back on my-ebike I decided to add this to my numbers. Cache 8998.

Found while spending several days in the Turangi area with the Hutt Valley Tramping Club including livingk and gpetone walking and cycling some of the local trails. TFTC
Have been checking finds on my aging Montana 650 and have discovered finds from 18 months ago that I hadnt logged before. Walking some trails with Tramper Ted. Great hiding place for the cache.
Quick find while doing the south part of the river trail. Turning into a beautiful day. Tftc
Good find, got busted in the bushes by a bike rider, he'll be wondering what i was up to
After spending the night in Ohakune, we were heading home and stopped in Turangi for a bike ride to explore the area. After parking in the trout centre carpark we headed in a clockwise direction along the trail. Once we found the correct stump we soon had the cache in hand.
Found it on my holidays here in Turangi. Rented a bike and did the trail around the river. Tftc and a Happy New Year!
Found it while doing Tongariro River Track with PeanutButterBaby on the bikes while staying in Turangi for New Year's. All good at GZ. TFTC
Almost about to give up until I read the comments and saw there was a second stump. Yay found. Here's a pic of my Geo sidekick on the wrong stump

Located this one while cycling the trail. The stump by the trail made a great place to have a quick snack too!
Happy again after previous disappointment of DNFs on our 17.5km round trip from our lodging to complete the southern circuit of the river trail. The beautiful Autumn colours were a delight and Turangi will certainly be somewhere we come to again. Thanks CartertoniC for bringing us here.
Find number 4635. Enjoying my circuit on the Turangi River Trail. A few options here but took the easy route and came up with cache straight away. Thank you for the placement.
No rainbows today just sunshine.

The Central North Island, Day 4: Taupo - National Park
Today’s weather started of particularly wet but that tapered off a little in the afternoon before a light drizzle returned later on. Oddly enough, I didn’t really need to use a raincoat, just a windbreaker sufficed for most part. Some very unique landscapes along the way, and had a lot of fun exploring the Lake, Desert and Mountains of the region. A surprisingly very productive day for caching, too! A great Christmas Eve all round!
The following are the specific log for each cache:
Manage to “sneak” into the Centre without paying the fee. I felt a little naughty doing that, I must admit. The cache was found by following the compass and the instructions, and I was glad I dropped by, as the cache was a nice and big one. TFTC, and enjoyed the peek at some trout, big and small!

Heute nutzten wir das schöne Wetter, um eine kleine Runde mit den Mountainbike zu drehen. Hierbei haben wir uns in dieses Logbuch eingetragen. T4TC from Germany
#10,529. We returned for some more walking in Waiotaka Valley this morning in between the showers. But we did not see any rainbows though. The track was not too busy, coming across a dog walker and two cyclists along the way. GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. A little bit of searching and then we widened the area to find the cache nicely hidden about 5 metres away. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Enjoying the weekend in Whakapapa Village to get some hiking training in for my upcoming big hike of the Green Gully Track in OZ. Today I enjoyed another stunning day exploring Lake Rotopounamu and Tongariro River Trail. TFTC
A quick find. Came in from the south & decided to turn around here and get the rest from the north. tftc
