Day 2
With the COVID19 restrictions lifting, we decided to head to the Bathurst area this long weekend on a Geomission with Rapidlywild. Our intention was to attack the TRLT trail and others around the area.
We had a great four days, only a few DNF’s but mostly smiley's, and have left plenty for another adventure. Lovely area to cache in and we look forward to coming back for some more fun and laughs.
Picked this one up along our journey as well.
Thanks for the hide alnic39 Lachnic62 Zobo66 and thanks Rapidlywild for another great weekend away.

With COVID19 locking everyone down for so long, a MUCH overdue geocaching mission was welcomed. FurfacesLL #1 and myself decided to head towards Bathurst and attack some of the TRLT caches and see how far we can go. Spoke to a few of the CO's prior to heading up to see if we could assist with any maintenance that was required, so we went prepared with some camo containers and some fresh log books. We had a wonderful weekend stretching the legs and enjoying the country side.
The locals were taking advantage of the eased COVID restrictions with a nice fire at the front of the pub and all had coldies in their hands. No issues locating the cache after a small search. Signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for the hide alnic39 And thanks to the FFLL ladies for another fun weekend out and about the TRLT trails and others

OCW frazerdaze and marj01. House sitting at White Rock for a week has provided an opportunity to do some geocaching runs around Bathurst - mainly TRLT series indispersed with a number of trads and puzzle caches. During the day we saw lovely scenery, lots of sheep and cattle, a few foxes and one deer in the forestry area. We even encountered fire persons doing a burn off which included two of the caches we were chasing. Please excuse the generic logs and thanks to all the CO's for placing the caches and adding to our enjoyment. For expediency all logs were signed OMF.
TFTC nice hide had to come back and get this one as last time there was to many muggles around
We are house sitting at Bocoble for a week so it gave us a chance to do a Geocaching run around Windeyer.

Mudgee trip for The Road Less Traveled series. Day 3. Sofala to Mudgee via Hill End and lots more back roads. The main focus of this trip was more of the TRLT series, so it was good to get back to work on the main goal. A short detour into Windeyer was well worth it.
Thanks.

We are staying at the Mudgee showgrounds and with this extreme heat we headed out early and got back to the caravan by mid afternoon and the comfort of the aircon. We enjoy these rural locations and this was one of the caches we targetted and found. We appreciated the extra effort put into some of the caches to provide a more creative hide. Thanks to alnic39 for placement of this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
On a two day caching trip with GeodudeAU to cover more of TRLT series and others from Carcalgong-Mudgee-Gulgong-Ilford-Capertee-Lithgow. We had 90 finds and only a few DNFs for our efforts. A great couple of days exploring the Central Tablelands seeing some amazing places we wouldn't normally visit. We even survived the mini-hurricane that swept through our campsite along the Cudgegong River at TSR (Cullenbone)! Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these caches. Most were in good order and easily found with the help of handy hints to get CIH.
Of course, we went to the wrong plum trees at first! Then saw what we needed to find just as the hint said. TFTC

Out with Brewmaker for a 2 day trip finding caches along The Road Less Travelled series and other nearby ones. On this day 1 we started around Carcalgong and then headed north through Windeyer, Grattai and Erudgere before finally camping overnight at Mudgee.
It was an enjoyable journey through the countryside seeing farm and native animals along the way. There was only a little bit of light rain at times today, which didn't cause a problem.
We found all of the caches very easily (with just one providing a longer search). Most of the caches were in good order, so all in all it was a good day's caching. Thanks to all of the COs for providing this trail

After a pleasant night at the Old Bara camp site, we set out for another day of caching along The Road Less Travelled. This time we headed south, starting from where we had started but headed north the day before.
Another cache not in the TRLT series.
We hardly believed our eyes spotting the nearby hotel, in the middle of nowhere. We were just hungry and wanted something to eat, but first we had to find the nearby cache. A couple of people over at the hotel stretched their neck to see what we were doing, but nobody commented or asked once we approached the hotel after having logged the cache.

1/10/17. 3:18 PM. Cache #5372.
36th of 71 finds today.
Day 2 of the long weekend for which I have come up to plunder caches in the Mid West Regional council. Now on to the main leg of the day, The Road Less Travelled; I followed the trail up though Pyramul, Carcalgong, Windeyer, Grattai, Collingwood, Erudgere and Piambong - 62 caches in 6 hours including a handful of non-TRLT caches. TFTC to all the COs involved.
Sorry it's mostly going to be a copy/paste affair, but there will be the occasional extra commentary where anything of note happened...
} : )
This was one of the non-TRLT caches; most of them were around Windeyer. It was nice to have a little town caching to break up the monotony of the roadside ones. I even had to wait out some muggles at this one, who were heading into the nearby establishment...

TFTC Thank you for going to the effort of hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity. An interesting looking location.
Found as part of a weekend away with Hoojar. We headed up towards Gulgong the first night and camped near the start/ end of TRLT (@ -5 degrees ). The next day we made it through some nice historic places and great rolling countryside to finish up at Sunny Corner after a feed in Bathurst. The next day a few more finds before we headed home. Plenty of roadkill spotted, not many cars and not too much trouble at each cache. Thanks to all those cache hiders .
We stopped here in 'town' for a break and a nice cold drink.

The opportunity finally arose that Steeba and I both had a free weekend to go caching. We quickly settled upon the northern half of The Road Less Traveled series. We drove to Gulgong via Mudgee after work on Friday, camping just before midnight at the suggested TSR nearby.
Saturday we made our way via the caching trail, and the odd additional cache, to Bathurst for dinner, then back onto the trail to Sunny Corner where we again camped for the evening.
Sunday we turned our heads for home, via a few additional cache stops in Portland and Wallerawang.
A fantastic weekend away, with excellent country to be seen and company to be had. We enjoyed the caches that we found.
Thank you to all of the cache owners, and sorry for the boiler-plate logs!
Stopped for morning tea, cold drink and a chocolate bar.
Cheers

14149. Found during a run through the Bathurst to Mudgee region this long weekend.
Having completed the southern part of TRLT series last month I had the northern part of the series on my radar for this long weekend - plus as many extras as there are along the way. Leaving home this morning I was caching before lunch on the outskirts of Bathurst heading north. All but two of today's caches were found and all were nicely hidden with good sized containers. This was the next find for the day. Getting dark now so out came the torch. Quick find at GZ . Log signed, cache replaced, and I headed off to the next one.
Thanks to all the COs for their caches - it was a great run up through this area.

2/5/17 Found with muppet95. Muppet95 mentioned to me that he was keen to hit up The Road Less Travelled series and we decided to take a few days off to go on a bit of a road trip. I wanted to shoot for a goal of finding at least 200 caches in a 24 hours period and we made plans accordingly. We drove up to Gulgong on the first day and arrived in the early afternoon. We started The Road Less Travelled series there and headed south towards Mudgee, picking up approximately 30 geocaches on the way. We spent the night camping on the outskirts of Mudgee and had an early night, with the expectation of an early start to have the best chance of reaching our goal of 200 caches the next day. At the crack of dawn on day 2, we packed up camp and set out on the trail, finding our first for the day at 7 AM. We then spent the next 14 hours travelling The Road Less Travelled, caching the series and picking up some additional caches along the way. We powered on well after the light of day had disappeared, because we were on a mission and were resolute in our efforts to achieve our goal for the day. We reached a point, down near Gurnang in the pine forest, where the area a cache in the series was supposed to be had been logged and we could not continue, without backtracking and going the long way around. We made the decision to turn around and head back to Oberon, where we would pick up the last remaining few to reach our target number. I am very sad to say that on the way out of the pine forest, a wombat ran out as we were driving past and was struck by the underside of the car. We stopped immediately and I rushed over to its aid. The poor thing was in not in a good way and I did what I could to provide some comfort but it faded away within a matter of minutes. The accident is very distressing and upsetting, and it put a real dampener on a long and tiring day. There was nothing we could do at that point, so we continued on our way back to Oberon, picking up some more caches in town. We reached our campsite and setup, keen to rest up and have a deserved sleep in. It was another cold night, definitely dropping below zero degrees. We woke in the morning and, after packing up, we made our way back to the big smoke. Thanks For The Caches to the respective Cache Owners, and for putting this series together, which takes us on a different route along the Road Less Travelled. We will have to come back at another point in the future to try and finish off the series, and hope that one day the series may be extended further for everyone’s enjoyment.
On the way through with TRLT Series. This was one of the extras we picked up on the trail. Thanks for the cache!

ghost town today. I was planning on lunch here but no even on a Friday that's not a possibility. why, if I like caching in the back of beyond do I NEVER remember to pack some food?? I'd gone through all the car snacks and didn't feel like another packet of chips. anyway easy enough find as no one was around to wonder what I was doing.

Last time we were in town here, the cache across the road had been given a haircut and was gone. This was an easy find today, grabbed some drinks from the pub, the teenagers went to the caravan park shop and grabbed some things from there. The track we wanted to take to get to the next cache said no through road, so we had to back track a bit.
On a caching adventure to Mudgee with pprass we set out to see some country side and some interesting caches.
A little quite town, didn't see many humans walking around apart from one man that was eye balling us while searching for the cache, and another person checking their mail- thats it, no one else. nothing wrong with a small quite town i guess.
Thanks for the cache, alnic39, Lachnic62 and Zobo66

Day four of our five day geocaching trip from Brisbane to Canberra for Easter. Today we cached from Gulgong to Sofala, on the road not so often traveled, working for our 100-in-a-day challenge.
We are caching for 100 or more: that is our aim, so nice quick finds are the order of the day. So these logs will be rather generic - written up after the trip is well and truly over.
The country we traversed was wonderfully varied - a few Ks of sealed road but the majority was gravel - easily handled by our GeoFalcon, although we laughed several times at how the white dust (in sharp contrast to the usual brown and red of Queensland) made it look like a ghost car.
We crossed many causeways, traversed valleys and crossed mountain ridges. Scenery was magnificent. All in all we have only two DNFs in the total trail, so that was a bonus.
Would we recommend this trail? An unequivocal YES!
We weren't expecting plumb trees - nor the quaint pub next door.
Found at 12.55pm on 23rd March 2016. TFTC.

We discovered all those many a couple of days ago.
We have solved all the interesting mysteries before we started our trip to the Mid Western Region of NSW.
Day 1
We started the day in Meadow Flat, followed by Sunny Corner and Dark Corner past Palmers Oakley.
We loved the hilly nature along many peaceful Gravel roads. Many smilies were forming on our map.
We finished the day in Bathurst.
Day 2
We started all fresh again in the morning. Leaving Bathurst, we were able to get going about faster along the sealed road.
We reached Sofala at around lunch time. We couldn't believe that about 40,000 used to live here. It really seemed that the city stopped developing in around the 1850's..
We continued towards Hills End and Windeyer through dry grassy land in 47 degrees heat.
We spend such a beautiful night here in Windeyer in the caravan park. We booked one of the train accomodation where you got to stay in the train back in time. What a great experience. We really liked Windeyer as it seemed so far away from all the city rush. Te locals were very welcoming and were happy to see us in the pub next door for dinner.
What a great community living were it seems like everyone knows everyone.
Day 3
We left Windeyer after a big breakfast. We travelled along Hills End Road until we reached the turn towards another Gravel road. There wer many animals to watch and it got even hotter and hotter.
This day ended in Mudgee.
Day 4
We took a look at Mudgee city today were we searched for a couple of caches and ten continued towards Rylstone.
After we continued to the Wollemi National Park which a good friend recommended us to go. Here we climbed on the top of the mountain and simply enjoyed the stunning view and the tranquil nature.
After, we traveled towards Kandos, Capertee, Cullen Bullen, Portland and Wallerawang back home to Sydney.
We hereby would like to thank all owners for this great interesting tour. We got to see many historical places and sometimes felt like as if we were living back in the the 1850's, which is a good thing.
Thanks

An early start this morning with the hopes of achieving 100+ caches in a day. Headed north from Mudgee to start a large loop heading back south and west. Loving this drive - lots of livestock and other wildlife including Roos, foxes, rabbits, birds, goanna, sleepy lizards, dragons, you name it. A long day with roughly 12 hours of adventures.

I spend a fair bit of time at the nearby Windeyer Hotel which has always made locating this particular cache difficult. My muggle friends have always interrupted me while I was poking around the plum tree. Today I told the caravan park owner all about geocaching and it was her that actually discovered this great little cache. DNSL but thank you for a great hide. For those who follow.... Have a cold beverage at the pub, you are always welcome. A personal favourite for this one!

Today was our second day of caching the TRLT trail. We started the day off from Gulgong Showground and we were off and running. We ended up logging 50 caches (and DNFing 0) before rain stopped play. Hopefully the weather will be better tomorrow.
Please excuse our boilerplate logs. It's not really a good excuse, but we find it really difficult to craft individual logs after attempting so many similar caches in a day.
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
Cache Condition: The container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt,
Regards
Ian & Penny.[font=Verdana]

This as an easy cache to find but the area inside the fence was quite busy as it was being attended to by a lawn mowing muggle. Quick retrieval, signing and replacement was the order of the day. TFTC.
Today was the day to complete my biggest cache run to date. From Mudgee to Gulgong and then follow The Road Less Traveled series and the surrounding caches. I started nice and early at 7:30am, and didn't finish until 11 at night! On the way I saw plenty of lizards, the first snake of the season and smelt many rotting road kill during the day, and at night I had the live kangaroos, wombats, possums and probably all the flying insects banging into my head when I had the torch on.
Over all the experience was worth it and great big thank you to the CO's who put all of the caches out there.

Headed south down The Thin Back Line south to Sydney then west out towards Lithgow, Meadow Flat and Sofala then Mudgee intending to pick up some of the TRLT Series and others of opportunity. Found on the second day of the grand tour. Thanks for bringing me here. What a great series thus far. Well done

Found on the second day of the grand tour. Thanks for bringing me here. What a great series thus far. Well done
Thanks for the great cache and adventure alnic39
Reperio!
As I was staying at Mount Victoria for the weekend, I had one day free to do a spot of caching. It was suggested by more than one person (my wife included) that I should visit the TRLT series...so I made a plan to try and find as many of them as I could today. I started out in the very early hours of the morning with Andromeda, and managed to get through each of the caches before the sun went down with approximately 160 finds and only one or two DNF's for the day.
As I arrived at GZ quite early in the morning, I was a little conscious of who might be watching me. Fortunately I was able to park right next to GZ, where the cache was quickly in hand.
Gratias alnic39.

With Rats and the mini rats wanting to use the upcoming Mega as a significant milestone we were starting to look around for some quick numbers when this powertrail popped up. The timing couldn’t have been better and plans were soon hatched for a trip out west.
Teaming up with Mizmaz we had a comfortable 2 day drive through some spectacular countryside and under perfect weather we found this cache and many of the other caches that neighbour this new powertrail.
Thanks for the cache

The mini rats have officially completed our first powertrail. Helping Mizmaz and the Rats we went in search of some quick numbers. We had a lot of fun finding the caches and camping along the way, except for the cold overnight temps in Sofala.
We didn’t sign all the logs as we are using the Melbourne Mega as our 1000th find, but we did enjoy the experience and the beautiful country side. Thanks for the caches and to everyone that hid them.

Find No: 4739. Visiting from Newcastle, staying for the weekend in Mudgee, enjoying immensely the variety of hides in the district, travelled almost 200km again today, found 52, thanks for the cache alnic39!!
This is the start of our day, were headed for Mudgee,we will starting the TRLT series and the extras along the way.
The weather was kind to us, we completed more than we had expected, we only had 2 DNF on the day. Some of the caches were straight forward finds and others were a bit sneaky.Lovely countryside, on roads we had not been on before. By night fall we were at the destination and ready for a hot shower.
Thanks to all the CO for the effort that has gone into these caches.

[Blue]# 13141[/Blue] Found on the way back from our 2015 Winter escape to Qld.
Another perfect spring day for a drive around more of the TRLT trail with lgoody.
Not many muggles around again and some nice scenery, roos, goats and water crossings.
A very good trail so far that seems to take a lot longer than you would think.
We even managed 8 F T F's along the way today, including 2 multis.
Cheers from 2 Wagga Wagga teams on our respective travels around the countryside.
Thanks for this cache alnic39,

We had a more rushed trip to this little town than I had originally planned, but at least we made it! Nice little spot, we enjoyed it.
Thanks

This is a pretty little country town I would never have visited except that our local cacher, Alnic39 placed some caches out here. We parked next to a piece of country art, a man pushing a wheelbarrow full of various items, and walked over to make a quick find, easily concealed from the nearby muggles enjoying their afternoon. Thanks
Pulled up very close and enjoyed a cuppa in the shade. Nicely hidden cache in a very quiet place. Thanks alnic39.
This can be terrain 1 - I had no trouble getting to the cache and retrieving it in my wheelchair. This is the first time we have travelled this way and it is worth it to find such a peaceful place. Thanks alnic39.

The original cache went missing. This is a replacement in a spot across the road from the original. Read the clues and look at the pics. My caches are MEANT to be found and enjoyed by the family.

A fellow cacher has said that this one is not where it should be. Will get out there this coming long weekend to check/replace it.
if it was where I suspect it was, I doubt it is still there, this tree has just had some serious trimming done.
