Whilst the unwanted residents have moved on after recent flooding, the site is no longer a suitable location for a cache, so sadly this guy needs to be archived. If you are in the area however, keep an eye out for bunyips. You never know where they might pop up...
Unfortunately, those who took up residence near GZ are still present. The cache is still in place, but I can't guarantee the type of reception cachers may receive if the "residents" are home.
Still hoping that the unwanted guest has moved on. I believe the cache is still in place and intact, however will need to check and see if anyone is still around.
Yes, there are people living at GZ. I crept up to GZ on the outskirts of the camp but I didn't feel comfortable searching for too long. CO may have to reconsider placement of this one.
Hoping that those who are "living" near GZ move on soon as by all accounts they are making a huge mess. Will disable for now and see what happens.
Went down here today but couldnt get close to the cache due to what looks like a semi-permant muggle setup down here, but they did have good music playing tho
Will come back at a later date

Lots of stomping - to intimidate any snakes! This was fun and a little scary
Forgot to write log online but found awhile ago. Interesting area. Bit of rubbish around. Thanks for cache
Today we set out on a leisurely bike ride along the Barwon river.
We dropped past this cache after reading about it as we were riding along the other side.
We decided to take a break here and look for the cache.
After negotiating the long grass (and keeping an eye our for Jake Blake!!!) we arrived at the cache.
Hehe i thought as i found the Bunyips Nest.
Watch out for the nearby squatter, he might have been home when i was there (there was a pretty good looking push-bike in the clearing (disc brakes and all!)
However I didn't see them.
Thanks Buckleysbabe for the cache!

Evidence of someone "sleeping rough" at approach to cache. Decided discretion was best ...
#868 Buckleysbabe is always creative with her hides and this one is no exception. Gets a favourite from me too! It is also another day ticked of in September. Thanks for the cache here Buckleysbabe and none of the bunyips have hatched yet.
Note : Looks like someone is living it tough nearby, so it may be better to approach GZ and enter from the SE side. May only be temporary??

This was a little more out of the way than I expected, had never been here before, well hidden, great cache, even saw some colorful birds on the walk. TFTC
Since I was so close today I decided to check out the bunyip with all the favourite points. As I approached GZ I noticed that there was a tent erected on the grass. Stood still, thought and decided since there was no activity the camper must have been at work?? ?? Wrong!!
Quietly found the cache and signed the log turned around and just as I was leaving the camper returned. He yelled abuse at me and told me to get out of there quick smart or I would suffer. Of course I reassured him I was leaving straight away and I high tailed it out of there pretty smart. With my heart pounding I made it back to the car park and sat and had a drink in the company of other human beings.
Sure hope that this abusive and obviously illegal camper has moved on before the next person ventures into that spot.
Thanks for that adventure Buckleysbabe and a favourite point coming your way for the rather inventive cache.

Loved this cache, found with the geofamily for our 99th find!! Thanks for this great cache!
Out for a days caching with yorsys in the Geelong and Lara area to check out some of the local caches and to notch up my 4000th find.
Enjoyed the stroll along the river bank to the vicinity of this cache before heading bush for the prize. Nice hide.
Thanks for placing this cache Buckleysbabe

Found on another caching adventure with Trailrunning, The long weekend meant more time for caching so we headed to Geelong for most of the finds,. Thanks Buckleysbabe for the cache.
Another public holiday on a Monday can only mean one thing, a day of caching with Rebel Acts. We have so many puzzles solved for the Geelong area that we thought a trip that way would be in order. The overcast day meant that the GPS's were playing up a little, pointing us here then there. Very difficult when we were searching for so many micro caches shoved in bushes. A few outstanding caches were found. Thanks for the fun. Nice cache!
A bit reluctant to walk through the long grass initially but this soon cleared to a surprising clear patch of grass. We enjoyed the info about Bunyips. TFTC Buckleysbabe.

Got fortunate and found a pretty easy way in, locating proved trickier but got there in the end. Brilliant cache!
Found @ 5:14 pm, find # 4246.
I wasn't too far away from this one so I decided to have a look.
It took me a little while but I finally found my way through the maze and found GZ and then the cache.
After signing the log and returning everything to its place, I turned around and started to head back out when I had some company, we stared at each other and then the Fox turned and went back the other way but he didn't go too far, he was keeping his eye on me and when I stopped, he came back to see where I was. This little game went on for a little while before we both went our separate ways.
Thanks to Buckleysbabe for placing this cache.

In Geelong for a weekend of fun and geocaching. Having traveled from over the border with brisal5 and locus cache I knew it would a big weekend. Lucky for us a local geocaching legend adopted us and took us to some of his favourite hides and was there to assist us as required.
We have bunyip in South Australia too.... they must travel around a lot.
Thanks

How do you fill in a long weekend[?]
Head to Geelong with Mogni and Brisal5 for an event and a few days caching!
All up, I found 141 caches , attended 1 event and had 6 DNFs
We did a few series and enjoyed them, we met Bushfire and enjoyed learning about his considerable knowledge of Geelong's caches and we met Team Autumn and several other interstate teams while having a blast during the Geelong-Opoly 2015 event! [^]
All in all, a fantastic weekend.
By now we were safely ensconced in Bushfire's geovehicle and our guided tour of Geelong's great caches had commenced
What cute camo! [^]
We have a Bunyip at Murray Bridge in SA and yet it took me travelling to another state before I finally got to see a Bunyip's nest

In Geelong for the weekend with Mogni and Locus Cache. Yesterday we had participated in Geelong-opoly 2015 where we became known as 'that SA mob' - we hope that was a term of endearment. Having completed the event to commemorate this series we decided to do the series....and any caches we were passing. Having annoyed Bushfire all morning he decided to join us for the afternoon. After traversing the outskirts of the Bunyip's lair we had seen no less than 2 pair of bras and a pair of knickers. We didn't want to disturb Mrs. Bunyip who was obviously doing a bit of nude sunbathing today and had left the nest unguarded. Lucky us, we were able to sign the log and get away undetected. Thanks Buckleysbabe for the adventure.
Just follow the bunyip trail through to the clearing and theŕes the nest. So many things ive learnt about bunyips. How wide they must be to bash the trail. How long legged they need to be to wade through the brush. The fact they are layers and the colour of the ova. Great sdventure. Sure fav. TNLN TFTC.
Having done the sport drop-off, there was some time to kill before the first heat not to mention the opening of brekky places so I decided to take a journey back in time to where Martians once roamed to have a look for this one.
After negotiating myriad spider webs, I finally arrived at GZ to find evidence of the mythical Aussie beast at 07:05. In days of yore, I must have retrieved many a foul ball from around here blissfully unaware of the potential danger that awaited me in the reeds. While we saw bears, tigers, saints, cubs and any number of other varied creatures nearby over the years, we never did spot a bunyip or traces of one until today. For that, you've gained a fave point.
TNLNSL although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks Buckleysbabe.

In the area and felt like caching. There was a comment about not bush bashing, we found some paths to achieve light bashing and GeoKid found the nest quickly. I need to visit my optometrist again as I thought there was a bunyip jawbone nearby, upon moving closer it turned out to be knickers & bra opps, moving along nothing to see here. Thanks Jo
So cool!!!! Fav. Point. Tried to make it an 8 terrain for self but geodad spotted a path. Tftc Buckleysbabe best cache yet.
A very creative cache that usually you/I would be able to walk up to with the gps , spot it , sign log and go . . Yeah! good luck with that . The fun begins following the Bunyip trails , its like walking through a maze . Then you find it and back you go through the Bunyip trails . Tn left a small compass for the next cacher . Then on the way out of the car park ( 150 mtrs ) I seen an approach that may have been more efficient but . Thanks Buckleysbabe for the fun cache .
Found 18/01/2015.
Have had this on our saved to do list for a while, today seemed like the perfect opportunity. After a bit of bush bashing (the track Google maps said was there was a bit overgrown) we managed to walk around and around in little circles for 10 minutes while waiting for my phone to decide where it wanted to send us. Some clown (me) left the perfectly good gps in the car oops! Eventually we spotted the cache and signed the log. Luckily, we didn't see any bunyips today or any other animals of the slithery kind.
Thanks Buckleysbabe for the great cache.

We picked this cache up at 8:44pm. We visited this cache today as it has been nominated for the 2014 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards. It was a bit of a battle to get to the cache, and as usual we found a much easier was back to the car. We were both really impressed with the cache when we found it, great job
SirJ-Oz and I had fantastic (long) day down in Geelong and surrounds today. We picked up the Puzzle Time series and some of the cache nominated for the upcoming 2014 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards. We missed dinner (good food places were such and we were stuck with HJ's) and I was dropped home at 2am. It was a great day. Thanks for the cache Buckleysbabe.

Find #1676. Found @ 20:44 with LouiseAnn.
Today, LouiseAnn and I had a plan. Venture towards the Greater Geelong area and find caches which have been nominated for the 2014 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards (GC5H8AF). We also found a few others along the way.
This was find 32 of 34 for the day. We had quite a bot of problem accessing this location, firstly just getting to the general area in the car (we are not locals, and Google lady was less than coorperative). Eventually we retraced our steps because we were at the nearby letterbox cache earlier in the day.
Once we were in the area we chose the completely wrong way to get to GZ, but eventually ended up there. This was a very cool hide. I can see why it has been nominated. Here, have a favourite point.
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache Buckleysbabe

We came past here in the warm weather on a bike ride but the heat and the chance of snakes made us wait for a cooler day. Today was the day and we decided to go Bunyip hunting. We had heard about some Bunyip Country in Eastern Park and stopped there first. Then we came to find the nest. The clouds overhead made us more confident moving along the skinny tracks and we soon had the cache(s) in hand. TFTC Buckleysbabe, a fav point from us
Taking the Geodaughter for a bike ride on the new Santa bike, this cache made for a nice destination along the river.
The cache was a perfect find for a 6yo.
Thanks Jo'

Spent a while looking for the wrong type of hide, and was thinking of giving up when I spotted something I was not expecting. Loved it, no Bunyips to be seen. TFTC
We had seen this one sitting here for a while now, so we thought we will turn it into a smiley today, after a walk along the river we were soon getting closer to GZ, but it was still way out of reach. After negotiating our way in from all weird directions we were soon getting closer and closer, and then bingo we were soon at GZ. This is definitely one cool hide, it got us by surprise, luckily we did not see any Bunyip's here today or we would not be able to log this cache. Thanks to Buckleysbabe for the hunt and cache, a favourite from us for this one
We took the wrong path to GZ so had to bash a little to get to the clearing. Thanks for a clever hide Buckleysbabe.
Out in Geelong for a few days caching with Western Australia's own KB! Doing a bit of a random sweep today and following our noses around town with Geodog Rosie along for the ride as well.
Wasn't sure how to get in to this GZ but after a bit of a search I finally found a way in. Once there it was a quick find. The container had water in it but the log was dry.

Me-thinks the Bunyip must be astir as there are what are clearly bunyip trails leading through the scrub.. Had Mrs P keep a close watch as it is well known that Bunyips love to eat Platapus whenever they get the chance.
Really enjoyed this cache and its nice ending. A fav point Buckleysbabe.

Thanks for this cache, cool cache. A favourite from me as it was tricky to get to.
Caching today with McLookers, Tomstache and the Rehfisch Clan. We came down from Ballarat today with the aim to fulfil all of the requirements for the August Challenge. This one had us going around in circles for a while until we finally settled on the best approach. We lost a couple of our group on the way to GZ but they eventually bush bashed their way through the overgrowth only to find a much easier path! Thanks for the hide Buckleysbabe.
Geocaching today with Glanville Girls, McLookers, Tomstache in Geelong. Morning tea time as soon as we found this one we said to the kids... well it took a bit longer than we thought after geomum got stuck in the thick bushes. Finally geokid made the find with Glanville girls. Thanks a favourite for us. Cheers.
Well, this was quite a bush bashing adventure today. Glanville Girls and two Rehfisch Clan Geokids were smart and chose the worn path. Unfortunately, the rest of us really bush bashed. It certainly is bunyip territory. I am sure we would have disturbed their sleep today! We found GZ with great co-ords and what a fantastic camo and theme. Thanks for the adventure and the cache Buckleysbabe. Now for some well earned morning tea!
We have been wanting to check out the breeding habits of bunyips ever since this cache was published. As always, we deliberately did not read the cache notes or the logs of previous finders before we came here this morning. Well, on this occasion it would have been beneficial to read the CO's valuable description and the comment on the access route Following what we thought was the geotrail, we ended up at some "dead ends", turned round, and told the resident legless reptiles and the bunyips to get out of the way while we were bushbashing. In the end, with a few starts and restarts, we got there and soon found the nursery. Wow, what a pleasant view! Wonder what it will look like when they hatch.
We found the log at first attempt, signed and drained it as much as we could.
As happens so often, we then found a very simple way back to the car - except that the sticks in our shoes and socks were giving us a hard time. Reading through the logs tonight, we note that we are not the first team that were so silly. Maybe we will learn one day?
A favourite point for this fantastic idea and its realisation!

What a treat - when you can go to Geelong to complete some business and have time to put a couple of caches in the bag on the way home! The only animal we saw was a black dog and he was so totally absorbed in a very fast game of fetch to even think about being dangerous! Generally we end up approaching this type of cache from the wrong direction and suffer all sorts of prickle damage - not today. The geo-gods must have been shining with the winter sun, making it delightful to be walking by the river. Kids would really love the story and the adventure - well done.
TNLN .. . . . SL . . Thanks to Buckleysbabe for the hunt.

While enjoying the last few days before uni goes back I was checking my facebook when a message popped up, asking if there was anyone free to go caching. After a bit of a discussion it was set an afternoon caching adventure with Roads75 and myself. We had a great time collecting several caches on this fine winters afternoon.
Brilliant!!! What a great location and awesome cache concept. This is a highlight cache for me. Absolutely wonderful. TFTC

As it was a clear night I set out to find the elusive Bunyip, using only the moon light as there was a curious person close by. Once near GZ I let the GPS guide me in, wasn't sure what I was looking for but with a quick search this great hide was found.
Thanks for a well thought out Cache Buckleysbabe

On a sunny winters day I swung by here on the way back to town, intrigued by the story behind it all. A casual stroll down the barwon river and I diverted off the path into secluded pine areas, caches trails and high grass. After a breif search soon had the prize in hand.
This cache had it all for me- superb location, great story and creative cache. Just when I thought I had visited all the great spots I came here- fantastic little adventure on a Tuesday morning. Well researched and gz had a strong point to it- it all tied together so nicely! Well deserved fave point. Dry log, tftc

Dropped past today to change the camo/container as the recent rain has proven too much for the original. The cache container is now a little smaller - although there is still room for small swaps. The pen appears to have gone AWOL and I didn't have spare with me so the cache is now BYOP.
Otherwise, all is in good condition and ready to be found.
Once again, please ensure that the cache container/camo is completely covered when you leave.

An early morning trek before work had me chasing the elusive Bunyip. No-one else this morning, so I enjoyed a muggle free hunt. Wish I wasn't wearing shorts here, the foliage is a bit rough on the old legs. After a few twists and turns the nest was soon spotted. Luckily I always carry a pen with me Retrieved TB's and signed log. Thanks for a successful hunt. TFTC Buckleysbabe.
The Bunyip is not mythical - I know, because I saw one in South Australia earlier this year!
After striking gold nearby, I headed to this area which I'm very familiar with.
I was ready to hunt these creatures - if they were around today.
When I started wandering off-track, I was wondering if a bunyip lay in wait... Fortunately all was quiet and I managed to find Bunyip's Nest without being ambushed.
I really enjoyed the location, which was very appropriate. The cache was indeed well covered, as it should be.
I left a TB which I brought from African shores, where bunyip's cousin "the tokoloshe" lives !!!!
Awesome, awesome cache, Buckleysbabe!

This was good bit of fun. We started on the path near the river and decided to keep going past the cache to find a good access point. We were on high alert, keeping an eye out for any rustling in the bushes and with lots of stealth and a couple attempts at a David Attenborough-style commentary, we came across the nest. Must have just missed Bushfire. Left the trackables for the next cacher. Thanks for the adventure and the wonderful sense of fun you give your caches.
I was out with the legendary Bushfire as he mopped up a few outstanding caches. We trudged through the sodden turf to GZ only to find the cache rather exposed and a bit water logged. Cache contents were nice and dry though. Signed the log and dropped off 2x TB's. We rehid the cache more than a little better than how we found it. Thanks and well done to Buckleysbabe for this well researched and executed cache.
A week with no cache finds and after the rough day yesterday and more to come ozbob and the ageing Bushfire decided to find this guy and then a few down in Queenscliff to give me a all smiley cache page.
I have driven just about to the Bunyips Nest on a previous occasion and tried to do again today but alas the gate was locked so in by foot.
Everything is very damp down this way but very quickly located a path into the area where we thought a Bunyip would build a nest and we were dismayed to see that maybe a predictor had discovered the nest before our arrival and attacked the lovely large blue egg and had gorged themselves on the delicious breakfast and only left the hard bits and some pieces of blue mangled shell.
I am glad to report that the travellers were still untouched as was the container and log book still nice and dry.
As we have come to expect the cache notes have been very well researched and written and very good images.
We were saddened to see that the egg had been attacked and wondered how Mother Bunyip was feeling as she had departed the area and maybe looking for another secure location for the next nest as I am sure that will happen.
Another favourite point added and sad to be the bearer of the bad news. We were happy not to come across Mr Bunyip as I think he would be very angry, so we retreated very quickly.

Was alerted that there was a problem with the camo on this cache, so have done a little maintenance. Regardless, the cache container is intact and the log and contents are safe and dry despite the recent rain. Will see how it goes and look at reinventing the camo soon, but have sorted it for now.
Hopefully the bunyips won't notice!!
Please be sure to put everything back as you found it and cover it completely.

Well really wanted to do this one. I was about to head to Colac on a caching trip with DBelco and Frog_lady when we all said we wanted to do this one and hadn't so we made a quick detour to find a smile. As we approached to GZ it was dark so the torches came out. We walked along the path that was a little eerie the further you went along. We realised we had walked to far so walked back a little to find and entrance (well we thought it was the entrance but turns out it was prob the wrong one). We followed a track that lead us to a bit of a flat area but we were still a distance away. We then spotted what we thought was a bit of a path but it turned out we had to do a bit of bush bashing. Dont think this was a wise one to do in the dark. We finally made our way til we were within 2 metres and we all started searching. OH what is that in there. Is it really? OOOOHHHHHHH how clever is that. Nice little touch at Gz for the hide. This one will get a fav for me due to the clever construction at this location. Some thought and planning has gone into this one for sure. We signed the log and replaced. As we looked for a way out we found a bit of an easier exit back to the path. Prob should have done this in the day tho. Thanks Buckleysbabe for the smile

Took the scenic route to hopefully fool the bunyip I was going another way! It seemed to have worked as when I arrived at GZ only the tell-tale signs were there. Left my mark and got out of there alive to write my log!
Saw this published while I was on the other side of Melbourne so had to settle for 4th to find on this cache this morning. Well worth the wait! Another cleverly themed and constructed cache and a favourite point form me. Keep 'em comin'!
Thanks Buckleysbabe for the cache.
Log signed & replaced. TFTC & smiley face

Just about finished work and had time to check my emails and well whatayaknow new cache listing maybe only 5 minutes from where I was, looking good for FTF then a gas leak on the forklift had me at work for another half hour or so but decided seen as its close and new and maybe just maybe still not found I headed over for a look, drove into the suggested park spot that was busy with trail riders so decided to see if i could get a closer park maybe saved 30 meters by parking at the reserve and walking straight along side the oval and well pretty much walked straight into the hide by following my phones directions . A quick search revealed an interesting hide (nice work) opened it up and found out I got a second to find by only 10 minutes ... if I had taken the path I'm sure I would have bumped into a grinning fellow cacher Tftc
Found! Bronze for me on this cache. The Geelong area must have been quite after the FTF went off
Well the CO wanted a log on this one after spending time with them at a night cache watching our back in the woods of Drysdale. Why should I deny them that....
This was a late night adventure that I wasn't planning I parked at the suggested co-ords and made the walk to GC. After reading the notes, I wasn't about to start stomping but the lair of the Bunyip started to suck me in lol I followed what I thought was a geo track but noooo the trap had be made, like a spider putting out its web to catch a fly, well thats what I felt like. I lost a shoe at one stage, had little twigs in my other and I was standing at 3m and nothing. Argh HELP ME! The bunyip has me!!!! No help was coming so I made my way out of this swamp of sticks with both shoes and my geo equipment. Then OMG there is a clearing. Ha, just had to do it the hard way didn't I. The bunyip was uncovered and WOW!!!! A great, well made one it was. Brilliant Discovered the TB that was hiding in it's guts and off I went quite proud that I had made it out alive. I emptied my shoes which were full of tiny little sticks once I made it back to the geomobile.
Thanks for the adventure on this one A massive favourite from me! TNLN

Find #1124
FTF SUSCOE
Found at 11:56 hours on a beaut morning, just perfect for a FTF.
Well we headed off in search of Bunyips when the alarm went off, and we took our best tools to deal with what ever we encountered at GZ.
Red lights at every intersection slowed the trip somewhat but eventually we arrived at the parking location and the walk began.
No familiar vehicles and no walkers on the path suggested that we might be the first to arrive.
So a delightful walk in the still and sunny morning brought us close to where we needed to be and with our ears ready for a bunyip growl we headed into the depths of the lair in pursuit of the treasure.
With very accurate co-ordinates, we arrived at the spot fairly quickly and, ready for an encounter, we proceeded to remove the impressive camo and open the cache.
Thankfully two things happened, the log was blank and the sleeping bunyips remained asleep.
A big thank you to buckleysbabe for this impressive caching experience, a delightful cache page and a terrific adventure into the depths of bunyip danger. And thanks for the fiver!!!!
A favourite from Suscoe!!!
