What an interesting site. We took the most awkward track to the cache but found a more gentle slope going back to the car. LumpyJ left retrieving the cache to Lumpy R as the thorns looked really big! Tftc.

Couldn't find It, had too walk through thorns got attacked by magpies and saw a snake.

Out and about exploring new areas...again. Had to jump the gate to get access, but with the gate locked up and no sign saying I couldn't enter...all seemed ok. However that was as good as it got for me.Found the item in relation to hint, however there was no cache there. If it has fallen to the ground, or is on the ground, I'll need a machete to get to it. And wow, those bushes are spikey. Thanks anyway Fergzter, but it's a DNF for me...might be back one day, but with reinforcements...

My bravery extends beyond huntsman spiders into venturing out alone in the wilderness with ilukaperi. But spikey plants do hurt.

21-Nov-21
On a caching and camping trip with day1976, he put together the list of caches, and I worked out we could camp near Mt Beckworth.
After camping and caching around Beckworth, we started up towards Talbot.
I found this cache, but as I pulled the rocks off the top and grabbed the cache, I yelled out and dropped it! There was a bit huntsman spider on the cache! Luckily I have the very brave day1976 as my caching partner, and he braved the spider and retrieved the cache.
The rock had fallen into the very very spiky plants though, and he stabbed his finger trying to get that back too!

09-Nov-21
We decided to do a day trip from Talbot to Clunes and this cache was on the way. We found it quickly an easily.

Found by Rebel Acts

With two Events in Avoca, I decided a three day trip would be great, That would give Me time to explore the area and do a handful of the many caches on offer in this region. The weather was fantastic with nice sunny days but the nights sure were chilly with ice on the windscreen each morning. I saw many places and learnt a lot of history on the trip. The Main towns I visited were Avoca, Maryborough, Talbot, Clunes and Creswick.

Today I headed to Creswick where i visited several old mining sites, so much history in this area to learn.

This was one of the caches I found in My travels.

Thanks Fergzter for the cache.

*Found on the 22 May 2021 @ 5:08 pm.*
*Cache find # 11782.*

With my tours of Avoca and Talbot now completed, I was now on the way home but of course there is always another cache to find.
As I was going passed this one, I stopped for a look.
I headed up the rocky path to GZ and was able to make a quick find in the obvious spot.

**Thanks to Fergzter for placing this cache.**

Really cool spot and a nice bit of history. Plus theres an old volcano nearby which is always a plus! Its possible to climb to the top if you go through the gate on the right of the parking area. I highly recommend it as the views from the top are amazing. Awesome spot for a cache, tftc.

03-Feb-20
Man the hint here threw us off. So many rocks to check! Everywhere! Who would do this!

Ohhhh...the rocks not on the ground!

A really cool little area here to check out, but damn that hill behind it looks good. Any way to get up top?

02-Feb-20
Oh man is this a D1.5 or a D4?! Lol definitely a D1.5. We over thought that big time due to the hint! A really interesting area to check out. Enjoyed sailing through hanging onto the side of Jacko83s 4WD and having the wind breeze through me. A great day adventuring. TFTC

Up this way from Melbourne to do some Goldfields area exploring and caching.

At this cache to avenge a previous DNF - where we were defeated by threatening Bulls on our last try.

This time no Bulls initially but plenty of evidence everywhere that they had been here recently! Had to carefully watch our step not for mine holes but for cow pats!

My brother had a block of land in Talbot since his early twenties so at least 25 years ago. Sometime back he built a little weekender on it but recently he sold it. We did a drive by to see how it is going.

It's a lovely old town Talbot with plenty of historic buildings. We are going to make an effort to come back and see the museum one day - we were about an hour too late today.

Thanks for the cache Fergzter... great to finally put our name in the log. After signing we made a quick departure.. we saw some cows and maybe Bulls running down the hill - time to skedaddle!

It was an early start for us as Neville_devil, AusFox; and I headed to Ballarat for a morning event before heading a bit further on to Maryborough for another event and caching the rest of the day in the area.
Our last cache for the day and we were happy to find the unlocked gate so we could drive to the parking coordinates. The because darkness was now upon us the torches were also out. we clambered up the hard way as Ausfox; ended up walking straight past as I spotted the hide. We found an easier way down but that always seems to be the way.

Thank you Fregzter for the diversion on the way home

I teamed up with Simsfamily and Neville Devil to visit our Friends in the North around Maryborough and Ballarat on ANZAC Day, and their many caches, some ANZAC related and events.
It was time to get the torches out so we could take in the veiws, but the cache was quickly located.
Log signed and replaced as found.

Thanks for the cache Fergzter

Find #1991 for me. Found at 10:30 am while on an early morning trip to the area from Bendigo, taking advantage of being child-free to find some caches that required a bit of a walk. This was my eighth find for the day out of 10 target caches. Well, I could probably have driven a lot closer to this had I taken the car through the gate, but I'd parked it in a shady place off the main road and walked the short distance to GZ. My GPS initially pointed to a very prickly area, so rather than dive briar patch (so to speak) I checked the hint. Glad I did that! Another quick find after that! By now the day was warming up quickly but I only had 2 more on my list to go... Thanks for bringing me to yet another interesting location today Fergzter and thanks for the cache!

01-Jan-19
The day was heating up so was pleased that this was a quick easy find. These are the sorts of places that we like calling into and seeing what happened here in times gone by. It is a bonus when there is a smile to be found as well. Thanks for the cache.

On our way home from attending the White Night in Ballarat on Saturday night. Found the gate and parking spot ok. Then headed off to find the cache. Found it quite quickly. Great view from up here. SL. TFTC. Left a geo rock that we picked up in Swan Hill to send on its way, hope it has great travels. Thanks for putting a cache at this mine site and making us stop. Thats what we love about geocaching. Cheers.

After a morning in Maryborough visiting the Sunday Market and finding a few caches in the area, family Perpetuallylost stopped by here on our way home. Was a bit of a relief to make an easy find as i spotted the likely hide from some distance away.
I would like to know how many caches there are in Australia that mark points on the Major Mitchell Trail as i have come across a few now both here in Western Victoria and in New South Wales. Thx Fergzter for showing off another one and for highlighting the mining history of this site too. Tftc

15-Feb-18
TFTC. We do not know how many times we have driven past this location over the years. I was running early for a ukelele jam session and decided to stop at the gate and walk in. Love the history of places like this cache or no cache. Well maybe a stretch about the caches. Great views from GZ.

23-Nov-17
In the area heading home from my long weekend away and called in here to have a look.
Another place I would normally drive by with out stopping.
Read all the info and I keep coming across areas that Major Mitchell travelled.
Coords all good and soon had the cache in hand.
I just beat the rain as well.
Thanks Fergzter TFTC

What an interesting place this is. It must have been a busy place when the mine was a going concern. I marvel at the extent of Major Mitchell's hike. TFTC fergzter

I've been meaning to stop here for as long as I've been driving between Melbourne and Maryborough. Thanks for the incentive.
