Pleasant stroll after finding other caches in the area. This area contains a massive population of Roos. Thanks Clever Monkey. [^]

A nice little walk down from the top of the dam, getting back up wasn't too bad. This is an interesting area with the spill way and power generation buildings and nature surrounding you. Thanks Clever Monkey.

While Team Frogger was spending the school holidays with the grand-tadpoles nearby, we went shopping in Eildon and detoured to do this cache afterwards. On the way to and from GZ, the tadpoles were amazed when they saw more kangaroos than they had ever seen before. Easy find for the tadpoles, took Carabiner, left frog. TFTC

Hi there Clever Monkey. We found your cache "A Lost Picnic" at 2:04:00 PM today. This cache makes our find count 10477.
[Blue]
This is our last day on the Geo-tour, so please forgive our boilerplate logs, hopefully they won't detract from the great caches we found today.

As we only had three "tour" caches to attempt - and as we didn't plan to drive long distances, we thought that we could sleep in for a little longer this morning.

Of course we also had to collect all the other caches that were on our route as well, so thank you for making the day so interesting.
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking. Wink
Cache Condition: The container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Today we explored Eildon and surrounds using geocaching as a guide.

A nice walk from the parking area.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

how to spend valentines day, a walk in steamy weather after last nights rain. a very neglected picnic area, but plenty of interesting junk to scrounge thru. tftc

We continued on from our previous find - not my idea of a picnic spot but the spiders seem to like it. As we headed back to the vehicle we startled a large male deer with a fine set of antlers. As we ascended we could still see him bolting across the terraced walls to the other side of the dam road.

With the publication of the February L.E.G. Event it was a wakeup call to us to come back to this diverse part of Victoria. Our mission today was to complete the Geo Tour and be able to submit all our data prior to the cut-off date. With our mission accomplished we were able to find the lost picnic spot and then saw the kangaroos playing on the lost oval.

Our thanks to Clever Monkey for the hunt.

After the exhiliaration of completing the Lake Eildon GeoTour caches, we decided to finish off the Eildon caches and take the walk down to this secluded area. Looks like it would have been a beautiful picnic area in its day, and we hope that the local council will look to cleaning it up and bringing it back to what it used to be, so that people can one day drive down here and enjoy this fabulous spot. We thank you for bringing us here anyway, and we enjoyed our long walk.

Found with Liz & Bruce. A lost picnic alright - you almost have to be lost to find it! a shame about the detrious around the place but I dare say it is a good spot for a cache!

Day three of our Lake Eildon Geotour and we started from Mansfield this morning having stayed in a cabin at the caravan park last night. Got up pretty early, poor Alansee was eating his cereal well before he would have been if he had been home Surprised. It was already threatening to be a hot day so the early start was doubly good. We enjoyed doing the caches on the rail trail around Mansfield and then the drive up to the Paps had white knuckles for me as on clung on having been designated to the back seat of the Landcruiser. The view from the top was fabulous. What a morning, we had not even attempted one of the geotour caches but had participated in both the Boob Tree and Papal Menagerie and soared to heights only birds get to enjoy. We went at it all day, loving the scenery and the hides and as we got closer to the elusive number 20 and though we were hot and sweaty our enthusiasm was not waning. So as the sun was setting we were finally able to say "yes we've done it". A master achievement by the organizers and for all the other caches nearby that added cream to the whole experience. Big GrinBig Grin Thanks to Clever Monkey for placing this cache and allowing us the privilege of visiting your beautiful area.

Travelling from Melbourne to Goughs Bay for the weekend with a detour through Eildon to finish of the GeoTour and grab a few additional caches on the way.
Nice walk down the hill into what should be a very nice park area, it's such a pity that some people treat it like a tip.
Great views of the river/discharge, not quite sure which. Love the big old tree.
Cache in good order.
Thanks for placing this cache Clever Monkey

Find #4449

Well, my annual leave was about to come to an end, but I have enough days left to finish off the Lake Eildon Geotour and hopefully a stop at Lake mountain on the way home to pick up a cache or two for the Victorian LGA Polygon Challenge. It goes without saying I would also grab the other caches along the way.

This was an amazing spot that has pretty much been deserted and used as a dump site by everyone. I think access to the area has limited visitors as well.

Thanks to Rallywrxwagon for placing this cache. TNLN

We are Touring Australia but had heard about the GeoTour. So we moved our caravan to Brooks Cutting and today was our second day exploring the region. So much fabulous scenery and sites to visit.

In the area so Mr Felix headed off for a jaunt, a few rain drips around but not enough to disturb him. He did however take a direct Wink route back to the car making it a 5* terrain return. Wink

#1215 A nice stroll in the early evening following today's fantastic event. Like all finders before us we spotted a kangaroo or 100. When we arrived at gz we were relieved to see no one was having a picnic so we could grab the cache Razz Thanks again Clever Monkey.

A lovely walk down to this cache, not so lovely walking back up to the car! Stopped to watch a large group of kangaroos bound along in front of us before heading on to GZ. As usual, the cache was in manzie's hands before I reached GZ, lol. TFTC!

The start of a couple of days around Eildon with BettyBoo3747. We started caching near Bonnie Doon, and finished after dinner at Eildon. A lovely day for wandering around grabbing a few caches.
Thanks very much for the detailed instructions on where to park and how to start the walk, they helped a lot.
Late in the afternoon was a good time to do this walk, but it did mean we didn't take a picnic with us.
An interesting collection of junk near GZ, we were hoping it wasn't going to be on one of these.
It looks like it has been a while since this was used for a picnic.
Thanks, Robmc.

# 6807. As I haven't visited this area in a good many years I thought it might be nice to have a couple of nights at Eildon and gather several caches around the area. Robmc and I started our caching run at Bonnie Doon and finished at Eildon with a few after dinner finds.

I am not a keen walker at all and when Rob suggested a long walk down to this one I was not impressed. It was getting later in the afternoon and I was getting tired. As we got to the lower levels we disturbed a huge mob of kangaroos who were grazing in the distance. They decided it was time to go so it was an impressive sight watching them bound away.

We continued on and came across the very run-down picnic table. Didn't look at all inviting, even if it was near the water. What a pity we had to pass the local dumping area to get here. A quick find was made and soon our names were added and we were on our way out of there. It's a pity that the geocoin still hasn't been logged out of this cache. I gather it has been missing since at least early July.

Thanks Clever Monkey

Spent the day introducing my dad to geocaching around Eildon and we decided to tackle this walk as it was one of the few in Eildon I hadn't done. We saw so many kangaroos! A great walk down to the cache, and we enjoyed the view of the pondage not to far away. I can see myself coming back here in summer for a picnic. TFTC

What a great location. Had no idea this was publicly accessible until now. I had a pleasant walk in while it gently rained. The geocoin wasn't in the cache but there was an entry in the logbook from a few days ago that wasn't online yet. TFTC!

Found it. Great location and cache. Enjoyed kangaroos and flora. This is a public reserve, though many do not know it is. Loved it.

A little familiar with this area when B1 took his boys and others for a boys weekend involving walking Cathedral Mountains followed by a paddle in Lake Eildon. That was before this game we played today was part of our lives.
The suggestion involved a simple walk around the picnic area that everyone could see.
Arrival today scared this simple hide away and as mentioned previously today without any abseiling gear, a traverse of the wall was done from the opposite end of the dam wall to the recommended viewing area. On arrival it looked like the treasure was hidden in the Mary Celeste which seems in perfect condition but just abandoned.

Did take this most amazing surveying pin (Did you know a surveyors GPS is not accurate to 3 meters but to 20mm horizontal and 50mm vertically. This accuracy would kill geocaching overnight) but left behind a nice path tag.

Thanks Rallywrxwagon for this wonderful exercise.
And mark down another first to find for the bananas.
