Thanks a stupendous view from here. Awesome track up. Quick park and grab.

Thanks Paul -the-hippy for bringing us to this amazing view. The guy in the tower said a lightning strike had caused a fire two days ago so he was keeping an eye out. TFTC

I have had my eye on this for several years, but never had the chance to attack it before. Now, spending a couple of days with our daughter and her family at Bemm River, our son-in-law drove me up here in his 4wd. We searched for a while, using the latest info from previous logs, but to no avail. A call to the CO had us moving inside the building, and we soon had it located. What fantastic views. A favourite point coming your way. Thanks for bringing us here, Paul.

Making our way from Pambula to Lakes Entrance after attending the Mega in Canberra over the weekend. Lucky we were in the 4wd as it was a pretty steep climb. A great view at the top making the trip to the cache well worth it. Took a bit of looking before referring to a previous maintenance log sending us in the right direction. TFTC!

Found It!This was a fun drive up the hill. Not much of a view unfortunately since I was well into the clouds once I got to the top. It was raining too, so no action in the fire tower today.TFTC

Fantastic getting here and being here. Views are awesome. Took a while to find the cache. Was very glad when I did. Now for the trip down.

Stayed here the night. The silence, the silence. That 'aint no magnetic.

Don't attempt in 2WD. Excellent access but very soft in parts & 4WD essential even for peace of mind

Woke up this morning at Bemm River to another windy day so no getting the kayak out for a fish so decided to drive up to Mt Bemm for the view as the sky was pretty well clear of clouds.
Mt Bemm can be seen from Bemm River and it promised to be a good view from the top..
Whilst we didn't need to put the Hilux into 4wd, it is quite steep.
Once at the top the view didn't disappoint as we could see in all directions. Everything seemed so much closer from up there!
Right now to find a cache, a quick search and we found what we were looking for.
TFTC and for highlighting another great place to visit

What a relief it was to find this one, didn't pick our days as it was blowing gale and raining so we didn't have get to enjoy the view tftc

14-May-21
We decided to make a significant detour from our direction of travel today, to give this cache a try. The descriptions of the view were too good to ignore!
As it turned out, the views were not as good as they could have been because of all the moisture in the air, and it was blowing a gale so it was not too pleasant. However, Mr Winglen made the find before we had to phone the owner!! The drive was very enjoyable, the track was in good condition despite all the recent rain, and the absolute stand out highlight was all the stunning epacris impressa flowering along the track. The Victorian Pink Heath by its common name. Gorgeous. Definitely a favourite point from us here. Thanks for the hide.

Taking a road trip to Lakes Entrance with GrimRaider. We headed up the trail in our AWD SUV and had no trouble with the track. We had a good long search for the cache but ended up calling the CO. We still couldn't find it despite a thorough search we replaced the container with the CO permission.

Such wonderful 360 degree views! And a trig as well ️

Condition Report:. Replaced - no longer magnetic
Log Book: lots of room

Thanks for hiding this cache Paul_the_Hippy

This Firetower has been on our list for quite sometime, but we just never got around to getting there, for some reason. Our plan was made for an early start this morning, so off we went, collecting some food at Bruthen Bakery, for lunch later in the day. We turned off the highway at Poddy Creek Road, dodging a few wallabies as we made our way to the tower. Being keen Native plant enthusiasts, we made a few stops to look at plants in flower. The last 1km or so of the track to the tower was pretty ordinary, but being in a 4WD didn't slow us. Interesting to see this tower wasn't as tall as the others scattered throughout East Gippsland, but the elevation here was great, with terrific views.
The GPS put us outside the car garage, but we concentrated on the metal work at the back end, but in the end sent a PAF message for assistance, thanks mate. The log was quickly found and a few more photos, before we headed back to the highway. Track is a bit unkept, but still suitable for a 2Wd vehicle, plus log is in very good condition.

Thanks Paul the Hippy for your Firetower cache placements that we've managed so far, we love them all, plus all your other caches too.

After spending 10 minutes admiring the view and sorting out the Trig Point.
I started to look for the Cache.
I spent about 30- 40 minutes looking, looking and looking.
I ended relenting and rang the CO.
I had a doh moment, I had actually touched it druing my search. Thanks Paul.

Scrat visited your cache whilst on his Great Aussie Adventure.

Headed down to Lakes Entrance for Aussie day long weekend with Genghicat and decided to detour for a view. Rang the CO while up here to make sure we didn't miss the find. Would never have found it otherwise. There is potentially an amazing view from up here, but today the mist has hung around limiting us to 25km or so visability. Had a quick chat with the ranger and back on our way.

Not sure what is happening with the roading in the area. Poddy Creek Rd from the Princess hwy is closed for an unknown length of time at this date. I know the fire tower has been active this summer so I guess they are taking an alternative route via Old Coast Rd that runs between Cape Conran and Cann River. It is a 2wd accessible track. It is a sandy surface with puddles that can be large and regular tree routes, so its not a fast drive but its a nice drive. I will try to find out whats happening with Poddy Creek Rd.

Second attempt at this one. Sadly due to a road closure this one only accessible via a LOOOOOOONNNGGGG walk. Maybe next time. Not a dnf but a dns

thanks anyway to Paul_the_Hippy for the cache.

A long weekend in Victoria can only mean one thing.... CAMPING!!!
The plan was hatched, we would take our camper trailer and rough it for a few nights with TeamThommo.. Arriving at Corringle Slips we were greeted with absolute beach front camping spots. It was beautiful!

This cache was a must do.. It didnt take much to convince the Thommo's of the same. Off we go, ooops, wrong turn! Doing a Uturn and getting on the right tack made for a nice easy drive up the dirt roads to GZ. Hopping out of the car, looking high, looking low, exhausting all options, resorting to the hint.... Nope... PAF option. The cache was located and signed!

Wow what a view. Absolutely worth the drive up here Smile:)

Thanks to Paul the Hippy for placing this cache Smile:)

So after the disappointment of not being able to find tackle_heads Bring Ya Rod #8 we started to head back to camp, MS- enchantress had suggested we do this one and TT thought it looked like an interesting place to go.
We came up from Bemm river so took dirt roads all the way in for about 15km, it was a nice easy drive for the most of the way but we knew coming down especially at the start would require a little concentration.

Woweee Upon arrival at the tower we marvelled at its size of the tower and the view.
There was a ute parked in the car port so we figured there was a fire tower man on duty. MS E and Mrs TT started the search, while Mr T and Mr MS E took photos and chatted.

The coords were not playing nice and kept suggesting we needed to be inside the car port, Mrs TT started to feel awkward we didn't want the fire tower man to wonder what we were doing near his car.
So Mrs T yelled out a BiG 'Hello'
Soon after the man came out and started talking to us, he said he had no ideas about what I was talking about but as long as I didn't steal his firewood I was ok to poke around, he did tell us that a few days ago a man had left a small white box in the tree but he wasn't sure if it was there....I don't know what that box was as I didn't find it and I now know that's not where the CO put the cache.
The boys continued to chart with him and he gave them some insightful information about his days in the tower.
Still feeling awkward and frustrated we resorted to the hint, hmm attached to the hint we saw the CO's kind offer to call. So we did, explicit instructions were soon given and the cache was in hand.. Had the fire man and his car not been there I reckon we would have found it but it was a really awkward feeling today.
TFTC paul_the_hippy this deserves a Fav point for location. SL TNLN TBV - thanks again for you hint!

Found at 4:38 PM GAFF3 - although .
We had planned to do this cache while working out our trip a couple of months ago as it is one of the D/T combinations that we need to finish off our grid - for the 4th time [^]
We had the van on, so we travelled up the track for a few kms until we found a nice flat area on the side to leave our van there. Then a fast 9.5 kms to the top as the track was just about perfect to drive on - smooth and firm. A 2wd could easily do it at present.
When we arrived at the top it was just wonderful. There was not a breath of air and even the weather vane thingy wasn't rotating. It was a bit hazy all around so we didn't see the the surrounding mountains or sea clearly, but it was still beautiful.
Then came the search - a nano in all of this [B)] We made a pass of the area and then started to feel a bit of anxiety as we could only find cob webs and hundreds of possible hiding spots. We then took a deep breath - stepped back and thought where a really safe spot would be. Saw a very likely spot - headed over, put hand in and what do you know - a nano [^] We were so elated and relieved and suddenly in high spirits. Zoomed back down, hitched our van and we were off to Genoa.
Thanks Paul_the_Hippy.

Well they must have fixed the road up since the last cacher was here (I guess in preparation for the fire season). Little disappointing for me! I wanted to 4wd up here! Once up the top I had a good look about for the cache and then proceeded to make my way up the tower. Finding it unlocked, I went inside for a little sticky beak, but primarily to spend a quiet hour looking at all the topo maps! I just love them! A little upset that no ranger came to show me how everything works up in the tower, I left about an hour later! TFTC!!!!

Wow those views are spectacular. The road up was definitely 4 we'd only , I think recent weather has really trashed the track, some of the furrows would swallow a mini. Had good laugh as an angry lyrebird chased along side us for some metres. No dogs chasing Utes just lyrebirds lol. Cache found reasonably quickly thankfully. Thanks for bringing us to this location.

***FTF*** for the Greynomads.

We had been to this location in November 2010 to log a FTF of the Trig Point here. Foolishly that time, we set off in our motorhome and the track got steeper and rougher. We made it to the top - just - but vowed never to try again.

Today, we set off in our 4WD Suzuki Grand Vitara. The drive was much easier and we reached to top without even needing to engage 4WD. There has been some work going on here with new fencing and a concrete pad. We started the search using two GPS devices and after half an hour we had come up with nothing. Our search area increased out to 20m when suddenly the cry came out - Found It !!!

Something was odd, this cache container was a 200ml sistema and looked old. The contents revealed a blank log book and a note saying the cache name was "I came here, so Cann you ..." The code was GC443QM and it was placed 9th January 2013 by Hiker3. We signed the log as an FTF but knew this was not what we were looking for and after some thought picked it up. We continued to search to no avail, so resorted to contacting the cache owner. Paul graciously supplied a small hint as I sat on the only available seat for miles. Thanks Paul for the adventure and giving us a reason to visit this beautiful spot again.

We are trying to find out what happened to Hiker3 and will place his cache container in another spot.

When the cache was placed, woodchipping was occurring along Poddy Creek Road. I have waited to I expect it has finished. If not delays are possible. To the best of my knowledge there are no gazetted road closures in the area, so you are free to go through, but if loggers are around, ask first.
