Logs
Found the log, sans container. Looks like the log is full and maybe want a new container. Thanks for this.
Found today with Crystal Fairy, Astro Hunter, MycroMan and The Wandering Dragons. Quick find! Thanks.

Cache # 3,897 - Found today with Crystal Fairy, Astro Hunter, MycroMan and Violet Butterfly. By the time Astro Hunter and I rolled up the walkway Crystal Fairy was already signing the log. All good. TNLNSL. TFTC!
Quickly spotted the cache. Nice and dry still in it's hiding spot. Did with Wandering Dragons, Violet Butterfly, Astro Hunter and Mycro Man (and his brother). T4TC
I always have a squizz to see if this cache is still there when I run past, been a while but ran past today & noticed the log book in there without it's bison tube.
Surprised that this is unavailable as found it today. However, did spot the log lying on the ground but replaced in the likely spot. Still room for some more signatures.
Nice spot. Quick find. Cleaver hide. Log is full so signed on blank line in 2015. A cover to the location may keep the rain out. All good here. TFTC
After a morning doing chores around the house, I was itching to get out and find some caches. Pleasant walk along the river path and not too many muggles about as the weather is a bit drizzly today. Cache was quickly in hand, well a log book was, the actual cache CO trainer appears to have gone awol. Tftc
I found the logsheet without the container. Its in excellent nick. Cheers and TFTC
Thanks to the Seagnoid for the detailed log - will check on that! Yes there is supposed to be a container... We will endeavour to find another suitable for the spot ASAP. Glad the log has survived though. CO
Up in Palmy north for a birthday party. Alas, I am really tight on time so only managed to visit one other of my friends here. I'll be back in October, hope to have some more time sorted then. Today I have two spare hours while waiting for the bus back to Wellington, so time to squeeze in a few caches.
And while waiting for the ferry I made a couple of calls. This flying fox is one of a number, for example there is another on the other end of the Manawatu Gorge, that one with a person platform attached. Alas the person I needed to talk to at Horizonds was not there, but the staff I did get knew that these flying foxes are used for hydrology. Not river height, as that is easily measured from shore at the blue pillar nearby. Our guess is to suspend ultrasonic equipment so that river speed can be measured and various points along the river's width, thus measuring the total water flow. . Possibly also for turbidity (clarity) measurements as well. The pipe at the far end under Anzac Park I am not sure on - equipment storage does not seem likely, the winch assembly would be better at this end. Maybe it is simply to provide a strong anchor for the cable. I will leave it to the CO to call back and confirm just what the pipe is for.
The cache itself... well, I saw who the cache owner was and so promptly assumed the cache is harder that it is. Turns out it was way easier. The container is missing (did it ever have one?) but the Rite in the Rain paper is still good.

Nice find for us beginners. First time there were too many muggles around. Came back after reading more logs and quickly found it.TFTC
Awesome hide I let my friend Ella find it but no luck for her so I walked around for a while and then I found it it took about five minutes to find
Had a good look around, but couldn't find it. Spent about half an hour looking. A little guttered.
GPS was a bit out but using the "geo-nose" we soon had the cache in hand. No special tool needed - just a stick found on the ground. TFTC.
#400 Out for an evening stroll with Greenslime to stretch after we had both been for bit of a run that day. Didnt realise you needed a tool and was luck to spy some useful items nearby that i could use to get the cache. Greenslime spotted it. Nice little cache in a good spot. Dont know why but when we were there the whole walk way was all put free of muggles. TFTC.
#764 Taking a lovely evening walking along the river with the husband, with plans to knock off some more caches for my southern assault on Palmy from Linton. Had unsuccessfully spent about half an hour trying to find 'in the pipeline' and were hoping for an easy win here. JimmyNZ had it, just and i had jumped the fence for a closer inspection on some spots. Nice container and well hidden. JimmyNZ fabricated some tools from some nearby wire. Go Bear Grylis. TFTC!
The last day of holidays used to find some caches along the Manawhatu river.
This one was quick spotted but it took us some time to get to the log book.
Thanks for the cache!

Arrived with hyjynx as people were waking up and started doing there walking thing.
Spotted something a tad suss, but gave the place a good once over as extraction with so many peoples could prove difficult.
Once there was a decent gap in muggle patrols, Extraction was completed and we took it to a nice grassy area in the sun to complete formalities.
Cheers

After noticing the previous cachers log (I'm sure it wasn't there when we attempted it!) we went back for another look, sure where it was this time. And sure enough with the right tools we got our hands straight away. We even attempted this before, but I guess we didn't give a good enough go at getting to it and presumed it couldn't have been anything worth looking at! Very sneaky!
We took a detour from our cycle route home from work to have a go at finding it. We had a good look around for this one but unfortunately we didn't manage to find it this time! We'll be back for it!!
We were in Palmerston North for a weekend of cycling and biked along part of the River Trail on Friday evening for a look. Found, but much frustration in not being able to retrieve the cache. Returned next day with a trusty Swiss Army knife and gently retrieved it. Nice one and TFTC
After a visit to the nearby "esplanade," we took a little walk along the muddy river. Found this one without a problem. Thanks.
The flying fox is used by Horizons council employees to measure the hydraulic geometry (I think it was this was the term I was told, lost the paper I wrote it down on) of the Manawatu river.
#6946. A short stroll on the Manawatu Riverside Walkway. Quite a few people on the walkway today, but GZ itself was all quiet when we arrived. Interesting to see the flying fox, but not sure why it leads to a spot midway down the cliff below Anzac Park on the other side of the Manawatu River. Looks like a tunnel leading into underneath the park? Found after a short search. Well hidden. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Nice quick find on our ride along the river thus afternoon. Had a great day out caching in sunny Palmerston .
Found cache ages ago but didn't have a pen. Only managed to return today! Overheard someone saying the zip line was used to measure the flow of the river.
A beautiful but chilly day for a wander along the river bank before heading to the gorge track for a run.
No problems making the find. Thanks Z1mbos

Clever little hide-away and a nice spot to stop and observe the very swollen river after recent rains. Laughed at the greetings left for me on the log by the most recent finder. Obviously let my stealth mode down for a bit and they knew what I was up to!
Nice & easy...when you know where it is! Waiting for library to open so it made sense to grab a cache or two. River quite high after the rain. TFTC
So clever! Found after reading log and finding a handy stick. Also found a weta hiding with it!! Freak out!! Haha
Nabbing a few caches while out on a family outing around the Manawatu.

Took a bit of searching, found with the aid of a handy stick. Leaning your bike against it is a good hint. Found with doggydoo12
Looked everywhere for this one and could not find it covered in scratches and no geocache haha, still enjoyed the hunt though.... Let's hope no one has moved it!
Quick find while being entertained by the music from the nearby relay for life. TFTC
quick find during my lunch break.
I had an appropriate tool with me in my pocket
Another dot-day ticked off, far too many still to go...
(and not many local caches remaining...)

Up here for a week on work commitments, any spear time was caching with Geco72.
