Not here today. Second visit and no closer to CIH. Lots of rubbish has been dumped
Was partially buried. Magnet wasnt attached to hiding spot but still with cache
Find #: 3,547Companions: NoneMuggles: NoneWeather: Pleasant autumn afternoonCache condition: GoodI had hoped to visit the nearby National Park, but it was closed on weekdays. I decided to console myself with some caches, and this was very close. I realised when I got to GZ that I had been here before, when I was last in the area, but it was too dark for a good search. Today I had more look and soon had CIH, although had to wait for the local critter to vacate the premises first yeech - TNLNSL, thanks for this memorial to this tragedy.
Found this cache while doing an AL stage, I couldn't quite work out what the hint meant, but I used my geo senses at GZ and found it very quickly.
Thank you for bringing geocachers to this overlooked memorial. Some of us do know about the tragic rail deaths, just no idea that such a memorial does exist. TFTC
Took a bit to decipher, unfortunately cache container is missing, lid is there with the log mashed into it
Well, what a wonderfully lovely (yes it needed 2 superlatives) day... brought about by the generosity of two of the most generous geocachers I know... Dan & Sue from SueDan83... your kindness has given me some fantastic geocaching memories and I thank you.
Stopped for this one after finishing visiting "The Red Hands Cave". A sad moment in history. The find was quick... with a lot of help from Dan... but my new phone had logged me out and I couldn't remember my old login password... so with a bit of whipping around various sites, a new password was made and I was able to log... phew!... gotta love technology. Thanks

Surely this is a new cache. We have looked for this on 3 occasions and finally made the find this time in less than a minute. TFTC
How sad that the memorial is so hidden away. It deserves to be on show. But well done Bobby for placing a cache here so that some will see it. Thanks.
An excellent place to put a cache. We really liked the container as well. Many thanks for bringing us here and for the cache.
OCW SueDan83 today in Glenbrook National Park. Having hiked out to the Red Hands Cave and then to Glenbrook Creek - Blue Pool caches, we had just enough time left to stop here for what would hopefully be a quick park and grab. However the sneaky little cache took a few more minutes to spot than anticipated. I made the mistake of assuming a certain kind of attachment, which led to cache blindness. A moment later, previous finder Dan managed to spot it in a place I'd already looked at - just not from the right angle.
Funnily enough, I'd been in this exact spot a month or so ago to complete an AL stages but hadn't realised there was actual physical cache here. Both times I couldn't help but feel that it is somewhat sad that this memorial though very lovely is so tucked away and obscure. I'd never know it was here if not for geocaching and adventure labbing. I'm glad that the cache does bring some awareness to it. I still very much remember the sad events of that day all those years ago. What struck me at the time and has never left me was the poor little 5 year old boy and his mum who were killed that day. Such a tragedy, may they all rest in peace.
Thank you the cache and for bringing me here today.

Quick find while adlabbing in the area, would’ve missed it if it weren’t for the GPS telling us that there was a cache here…
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache steveb95

We’re chasing some DTs we want today, grabbing others along the way as well….
Walk-in off after doing the AL location, noted the GPS was telling us to go back…

Couldn't find geocache. Very wet and overgrown terrain. Hopefully better luck with the next one
Ducked up the hill this morning while visiting friends in Penrith to tackle the new-ish AL up here ... and also to grab a few other random caches that I came across nearby ... like this one that was right at a waypoint.
Thanks for placing a cache to mark a sad event that we should remember.

Not sure why I missed this cache on a previous occasion, but today while doing an AL I spotted the cheeky little bison.
TFTC Bobby.

I was incidentally here for the AL and I’d driven so far down the road I thought I better check for other caches nearby. Sure enough I’d just been standing right next to it !

The owner of this cache has not been active since September 2018.
I thought that if there was no cache or log to sign, that was a DNF or at least a “Write Note”, and not a find.
Cachers appear to be following previous logs and logging a find on the basis that there was once a cache or there may be a piece of it still there.
Without a log you have nothing to sign.
How can that be a find?
Oh well. Each to their own I guess.

Love the Hint which makes sense. Problem is that the cache is not all there. Needs maintenance/repair/replacement. Like most recent cachers, logging because of what was found, not what should have been there to be found. TFTC Bobby
Found the magnet that’s suppose to hold the geochache, but looks like it’s missing
Found half of it.... unfortunately ( as per pic I messaged you) the log part is missing. I’m glad you placed this - I wouldn’t have visited this memorial otherwise. Tftc
we looked at a place it should be. There was afeature that looks like it should fit the cache. Nothing is there so unfortunately we think someone has stolen it
Either we couldn’t find it, or the weekends weather event has effected it.
Found with Ris768 thanks Bobby for placing this cache, replaced the container & log with a new one as they were beyond repair

Found with Deep_99 to keep the streak going. Found remnants of the old cache and decided to do some maintenance, hint is now magnetic. SL #4818 on streak day #3149 TFTC
Found but in dire need of some maintenance. Needs a new container and a log. A little sad memorial in such a peaceful place.

I never knew this was here. Good to share some history with the kids. Log needs maintenance.
Good find but log was soaked so was not able to sign the log but left an alien in there. Tftc!!
Fantastic hide. Loved the clue
Cache needs maintenance log is completely wet could bot write on it.
Sorry didn’t have anything to replace it with ️

A hidden little memorial. Was reluctant to poke around but found the cache very quickly. The log is sodden, but we made our mark. TFTC and showing us this place. xo
Felt a little rude looking around a memorial site, but found and had a lovely chat with a neighbour. Tftc
After spending some time trying to figure the hint out. I’ve done it and it’s actually a good hint. Very creative
The container reminds me of my childhood
Hanging them in to clatter in the wind
Pretty whack

My last cache before entering the National Park. So surprised to hear of a rail accident in such recent times. Remembered those people here today.
I found the cache out in the open, and the lid on the floor. I signed the log, put the lid back on and hid it under a stone. No maintenance required. TFTC.

### Welcome to Blue Mountains ###

We took a day trip to Penrith, Lapstone and Glenbrook today.
We walked along the tram way and the zig zag way and have enjoyed many other nice beautiful spots
Nice landscape to explore.
We’ve also stopped multiple times along the way and solved some multi caches.
We’ve also found a virtual cache in Glenbrook Park.
Thank you all the owners for the nice caches

Very sad. Great to have a memorial. Quickly spotted but container needs attention. Tftc
I remember when this accident happened; my babe was just 3 months old and the September 11 attacks happened shortly before his birth. It was a real awakening to me that you just never do know what's going to happen next an we could lose everything at any given moment. For all the time I've spent up here I either didn't know about this memorial or had forgotten about it.
I have no idea what that clue was about?
Container is badly damaged, lid permanently removed, however logs intact and dry. TFTC.

After trying to decipher for 15 minutes and looking around, geomrs found the cache, then we realised how to determine the hint....
Geocache No: 647
Time: 14:07
Condition: Good
Experience: This was our 3rd Geocache for the day. We had stopped caching for a long time and decided we really wanted to get back to it and start hitting the find count that we really should be at.
This cache was easily accessible.
The GeoSon came up with the cache straight away. She did the signing on her find.
We didn't come up with much of a disturbance and we replaced the cache as found.
Thank you for the cache.
