An easy enough find following the ridgeline up from the falls to gz although after a year since it was last disturbed the cache was well blended with the surroundings. The undergrowth was thick on the ridge so be prepared to bush bash a little. The nearby forest, creek and falls are gems well worth visiting. TFTC

Geochold couldn't bate more spikes spent 10min at gz

28-Jun-23
Be prepared to bush bash but GPS was pretty spot on.

Quick find after making my way to GZ. TFTC

Found it.. after talking to the rangers who said second track was open we proceeded down down down down then the small Up to the cache site. Some bounce in the gps and signs of wild bore (pigs) meant we didn’t want to stay too long. Not looking forward to the walk up

16-Jan-22
Not much of a water fall but there is water in it.
The old school walk complete with turnstile was quite good, a proper path with rocks either side.
However the ridiculous view point platform took away the enjoyment. Even if the water was running well the old meet new does not make any sense. In fact both myself and husband had a laugh at it.
Husband mentioned this section of forest is like Canada or USA.
Cross the creek to gz, and a quick find was made.
Not much of a view from gz, just a small glimpse through the trees....
Left a few small animals.
Took a jingle bell type of bracelet.

Been here before but didn’t realise there was a cache! Nice little find on today’s hike with my brother. Still very overgrown though

19-Jun-21
3 of us have been looking for 15 to 20 minutes and no luck. The area is rather overgrown because if the recent rain. This could be a drought cache.

Last chance to rest before the long uphill trek to Fisher lookout. Sadly, the falls are as dry as a Baptist picnic today. Still, it was a nice little stroll down (it's always down Sad) from the main track. I was somewhat concerned about where I was headed when I saw how far GZ was from the top of the falls, but quickly found a footpad that led me to within a few metres. It's not an easy one to find, but find it I did and signed the log.

A hot walk on the last day of spring. Awesome area. TFTC

Took a tentative walk past the falls site, looking for a gum tree haha. Found the right one.

Staying at the Bunya mountains for the weekend to see the fireflies. Amazing at sunset last night! We hadn't walked in this part before & as it was so hot, decided to leave a car at both ends of the track since we had 2 available to avoid the hot walk back along the road.
Despite there being no signs indicating a walk in the vicinity, we headed off downhill along the newly concreted winding track from Fisher's lookout at 0830h - early start for us, hoping it might be cooler. The track soon disappeared once we hit the forest and we had to look for faint signs of where it used to be - obviously, this walk is rarely attempted. We have never seen the forest up here so dry. After a few wrong turns & step retracing through the bunya & hoop forest, we came across the back of a sign.... a very permanent "track closed" sign. This was for the benefit of those starting at the other end of the walk only - there was really no reason for it to be closed.. probably should just be "track unfinished" instead, but it wasn't too hard to follow really.
We wandered supposedly towards Cunjevoi falls, where we found neither cunjevoi nor a waterfall, just a drop off and an expansive view to the west. We scrambled uphill a bit from here, as the sun was starting to beat down unpleasantly & soon found the cache a little away from its hint but safe & sound.

Last day at Bunya Mountains and wanted to hike out to the falls. A bit disappointed as no water running today. Lovely views, John found the cache while I keep telling him not to fall off the cliff. Thanks for bringing us to such a great place that we would never of found except for geocaching.

Out and about in the Bunya Mtn's finding the last 8 caches I have left. Big Grin
All up I hiked very close to 20km. Surprised
Clear sky, very warm temps, and great views west were the name of the game today. [^] Then back to the car for more water and onto the next one. Cool
A not so gentle walk out to this cache from the main picnic area, then onto the nearby one and straight up to the road and the lookout there and finally down the road back to the car made for the longest and toughest walk of the day. Surprised
Unfortunately the waterfall was not flowing as I was hoping for a cool down from the spray. Twisted
Both caches were dry and in good condition. Smile
Thanks for the cache.

Up in the Bunyas for a few days and seeing how many caches we can get while out on the trails...this was the 2nd...TFTC!

24-Jun-17
Stunning stunning stunning! Nice bit of water flowing in the falls and a perfect mix of sunshine and breeze for this walk today. Which has ended up being longer and a bit harder than i expected but thats fine as the views and walk itself are glorious. I havent seen anyone in the nearly two hours I've been out on these various tracks, which means I've gotten to see lots of the neat yet shy birds and things. Totally loving life today! TFTC, signed the log and all is in good order.Smile

Quick easy find. Nice views. No snakes seen.

TFTC, saw 2 snakes en route to this cache, I was a little spooked out

Having a particularly snakey day today with a red bellied black and a long tree snake encountered between the previous cache and here. happy that they were both content to move on without any trouble for us Wink as such menstrietash was a little wary of going from the falls to GZ but the grass wasn't too long and no more wildlife was encountered. a great place to see the view to the plains. We were in the majestic Bunya Mountains for New Years along with a group of friends, celebrating the new year in style! Today we headed out along with catscatscats22 and Captain Terror and this one was first up on the list for us Smile We enjoyed the walk out towards GZ, especially as it was basically down hill all the way and soon popped out at the Falls Smile We even spotted The Hancock Clan along the way Smile After a quick splash with the tadpoles we headed up towards GZ and soon spotted the cache and added our names to the logbook [^] Off to grab the next one now!

For how it feels, Russell Park could well be part of the Bunya Mountains National Park. There just is no difference to be seen as you drive past. And I think that is pretty darn cool! Such magnificent areas do deserve to be protected as much as possible and I wonder if in the future, this place will be annexed to the National Park. As such though, I couldn't find walking track maps, but did find some helpful guides courtesy of the Bunya Mountains Accommodation Centre.

Today the Gazziest half of Gaz'n'Kab, Catscatscats22 and I embarked on the circuit track to take in Cunjevoi Falls, Little Mowbullan and Chute Number 3. A smaller group than I had expected after a chat this morning among the bunch of geocachers we were staying with, but I'm going regardless. These are the last unfound geocaches for me in these mountains. We started off by parking at Fishers Lookout and kitting up. I was sporting my 3 litre camelback which turned out helpful and with GPSr's at the ready, we set off.

This mostly downhill leg was not too strenuous at all, even if the track is that which is less travelled. Advertising for the Bunya Mountains always boasts how it is colder here than wherever else, but I was feeling every degree on this walk - especially in the exposed, less forested areas of direct sunlight. And being in holiday mode, we'd had a late start and it was now the hottest part of the day.

I recall we made a quick stop at the signpost for a seat before the last 170 metres to the falls and however farther on to the geocache. Flash forward a little and the waterfall I am sure is spectacular in the wet but today was little more than a dribble. It was, however enough to support several dozen tadpoles of, I believe, Great Barred Frogs.. or similar. They really are massive tadpoles, helped along by the fact these guys were starting to sprout legs. I suggested a couple of them would make a hearty dinner.

Once we'd admired the tadpoles feeding and swimming around and waiting to become frogs, it was up towards the co-ordinates. With the difficulty and terrain ratings in mind, I had some pessimistic thoughts, but we really had no drama getting there and then I nearly kicked the container. There were some spiky and stingy plants though. Ouchy.

Everything here was in top condition, the logbook was signed and everything replaced as found. The view from here is certainly a bit better than down at the railing across the falls. Someone spotted an animal track back down which made the return a bit quicker. One last look at another group of tadpoles and we're back up to the signpost. Another rest there and we're off to Little Mowbullan. Thanks for this geocache, Storkers Smile

Unfortunately not much of a waterfall today, although it was still a very enjoyable journey. We found the cache with ease although I scared off a few cows nearby GZ before I made the find.

Another weekend caching adventure with Swellerfungus, Crookedpete and TCC, this time we were headed off to the Bunya Mountains. After camping overnight at Dundabah, Swellerfungus and I headed out to grab a couple of caches previously found by Crookedpete. After catching up on their beauty sleep, Crookedpete and TCC joined us on a few walks that they had not already done. A quick car shuffle and a short drive back to the jumping off point and we were off on our way. We were impressed by the quality of the trails and in no time we arrived close to GZ. Alas the waterfall was not in very good form today so we quickly moved on to GZ proper where Swellerfungus had already made the find. Enjoyed the great views while signig the log. TFTC.

29-Aug-15
This cache was found on a weekend caching adventure with a lot of laughs and some good long walks at the Bunya's with SeffnJarah, SwellerFungus and my son, Tom (TCC).

After a cool night, and with a forecast for rain later in the day, we were keen to get some walks done early. Having ambled down to Carbines chute, a longer circuit was called for next.

After a steep downhill section, soon enough we arrived at the water fall. Only a dribble today. I wondered why the cache wasn't hidden at the watefall. However, on arrival at GZ, and spying the view, I knew why. This is an aptly named cache.

Many thanks, Storkers

We set off for our second group hike of the morning, and soon made our way to this delightful little spot. As the rest of the group headed to the waterfall, I made my way over to the cache. I did indeed give a silent 'WOW' to myself as I took in the view while waiting for the others. A tremendous spot.
I left a travel bug - but can't remember which one. If I can't work out which one can the next finder could please retrieve it from me that would be appreciated.

With a day off work today, we decided to head to Bunya Mountains for a couple of caches we were not able to get the last time we were here.

This was the first one on our list, and it was a must do for us today.

With no other cars around, we set off and enjoyed our walk along the way.

After a little rock hop, we arrived at GZ and found the container out in the open Sad

Signed the log and replaced with some cover just as it started to rain [:o]

We had a short stop to admire the view, before we hot footed out of there and made our way to the other nearby cache, hoping the dark clouds would pass as quickly as they came Smile

Thanks for bringing us here Storkers Big Grin

Second visit to the Bunyas this week with Eskies5 hoping to turn all the green dots in this area to smileys. There were 5 caches to find between us and 5 walks to get there. Some short , some a little longer. Some down hill and some very great flat walks. One thing they all shared was great views!

This was the first one for the morning and after leaving home at 430am we were on the track by 630am. It was nice and foggy and comfortable cool. We were quickly worried about the return journey as the steps continued going down steeply. Arriving at GZ there were a few WOWs shared between us before we began the search. We searched in a few wrong spots until Eskies5 came up with the find. Great hide and TFTC Storkers

Kestal and I were here during the week to get some of the old caches. Wow & Little Mow were on the list but by early afternoon we decided to leave them for another day. On the way home we decided to grab one more and were surprised to discover it was a little unloved - not having been found for more than six months. Later that night I received a message from Kestal saying Wow & Little Mow were also unloved and as she is trying to complete the unloved challenge we thought it a good idea to return asap . So while we planned to come back, we didn't plan on it being a few days later.

Leaving home at 4:30am we arrived on the hill to a breezy, damp, foggy morning. Our trip down the hill was made with tentative steps as the damp had made a hazard of every slippery tree root and rock. The creek is a pretty little spot but not much of a view through the trees. As we made our way up to GZ a gap in the trees, the fog lifting slightly and the sun straining to make an appearance brought unintentional exclamations of "Wow!" followed by laughter at the apt name. We had a bit of trouble zeroing in on a GZ but I eventually found it in a bit of an uncomfortable spot for me Wink, but I got the necessary signing done. Thanks Storkers for bringing us here.

Found at 10.27hrs. Nice walk down hill to the falls and then to the cache. It was a bit cool out of the sun but the walk back up hill soon warmed me up.
THERE IS NO PEN IN THIS CACHE and I didn't want to leave the only pen I had.

Parked at suggested spot and walked towards GZ. 1.1Klm down the track came to the "T" intersection with a very colourful sign and a seat. Went down to the falls and bush bashed to the GZ and on the way out followed the track I should have followed on the way in.

The pen does not work and I did not have a spare with me. TNLNSL TFTC. Good views from here. Now to go and find the other close by one and head back to the car. total walk distance less than 4K and took less than 1.5hours. That uphill walk back to the car really tested my fitness level.

Found with stairman1. We headed up from Brisbane as we didn't really have much to do today. The temperature was certainly way colder than we would have liked. We arrived at the car park to find another muggle family heading the same direction as us. We beat them down the track and after a little river crossing headed up to GZ. The pigs must have certainly been looking for something up here. We found a heap of feathers on the ground from some poor bird. We eventually arrived at GZ and after a quick look found the container. Glad to see our names were second in the book. Hid the container and then headed up to the nearby unfound cache. Thanks Storkers
