Deputy D0g I found your cache Bunya - Fig Tree on 10/10/2024, 1:45pm. This is my find 7118 and find # 11 today. Found it away from the muggles. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
Found it but would have liked some warning about the massive amount of antsSo many ants
Needing numbers for the Solstice Challenge, targeted a hopefully simple agenda on my way home from visiting family over the weekend. While recent logs complained about not being able to open or sign the cache, after the find, easily pried off the rusty and broken lid, shook out the ants and found a spot to scratch my name on the log that desperately needs some attention. At least it gave me a smiley.
After a lovely morning strolling through Sydney Zoo, I made my way over to look for this cache. Thankfully, unlike last time there were no muggles today and it was a quick find. Unfortunately the log book is a mess and I was unable to sign (can send picture to CO if required). This is a magnificent old tree - one wonders what stories it would tell of the things it has seen in its lifetime, if only it could. TFTC!
Found but couldn't sign the log book as it is completely soaked. Cache container was on the ground. TFTC. The 4Rods.
DNF avenged, yes it is there; just a bit buried and not very magnetic anymore and yes being protected by some bitey critters
Find #: 2,731
Companions: None
Muggles: None
Weather: Pleasant summer morning
Cache condition: Ant-infested
After running the nearby parkrun I explored the local geocaches. I started off looking in the wrong area until I spotted the more likely hiding spot. I needed to dig around a bit to find the container, and while rummaging something bit me on the leg, sigh. TNLNSL TFTC

Ah dear, pretty sure I knew where it was meant to be and have a bad feeling it’s gone
Bummer - being nice weather and a PH, there's quite a few muggles about. Lovely location though!

After completing the AL in Nurrugingy Reserve, I drove over to another part of the parklands for some more caches.
Luckily no tree climbing but a bit more down to earth.

It's time for MavEtJu and ziggiau to raid the area. Second lot, between Blacktown Olympic Park and Bunya - TFTC!

Some good and succesfull caching in the Parklands and Quakers Hill area. Had solved a lot of puzzles in preparation and also prepared myself for a lot of bike riding. Just had not counted on the weather not playing. Although mostly cloudy and only a few drops here and there, it was the heavens opening up about half way through the day, only 400 meters from the car but enough to get soaking wet!!

OCW young morty8888 picking up a batch of caches around the Western Sydney Parklands that have bobbed up recently. This one had me beat but fortunately not morty8888 who was onto it like a flash. TFTC Deputy DOg.
OCW Oldmorty around the Western parklands on a warm day. Arrived to find a family enjoying the facilities so we admired the tree whilst realising there can only be one place for a hide with perfect coords. TFTC!
Found the obvious spot, did not find it at first due to the hint. Read a few logs and found the cache. Magnificent fig tree. TFTC

OCW Sensible Shoes and Shoes Junior. Quick find by Shoes Junior. Signed as Shoes x3. TFTC
Nicely placed. A quick find due to good coords and a straightforward hint. The CO was too nice to us. TFTC
Easy find. Just had to look down. No Magnet now but still hidden behind something metal.
It’s not in the tree!
Thanks for the hide.

The primary school I went to in Townsville had Moreton Bay Figs so large we played hide and seek (or catch and kiss) amongst their roots. One of my fondest childhood memories.
I had hoped that the cache would be secreted away in this natural wonder but it was not to be. Cache was located nearby; container is full of ants! Aaarrrggghhh!!!! I really don't like ants so I hurriedly signed before replacing and swiftly returning to my car!

Since November 5th I study Englisch at ILSC for 1 month. On this day I went to the Featherdale wildlife park. After visiting the park I was looking for some caches. Here I found the box quickly.

CACHE #120
Found at 20:00hrs, 6 of 6 located today.
This area is usually pretty busy during the day, given GZ it located at a popular and well used park. Today I drove past at dusk, only to find the nearby seating packed with muggles. Subsequently I went for a drive and return 30 minutes later.
Under the cover of darkness (and the street thankfully empty), I took my TOTT and flushed the container out of its hiding place.
CIH, I signed log and replaced exactly as found. TFTC

We came down to Bungarribee Park to do a reccy of the facilities prior to my DIL’s baby shower. We decided to make an afternoon of it and did a large loop of the surrounding parkland tracks.
Rainbow Bears had CIH when we arrived here. We closed our eyes and they rehid it so we could make the find ourselves.

Very easy find which was good after a loooong time spent at the horses! Nice little park and lovely grand tree! TFTC
This GC find was close to where I was GA dinosaur hunting for the spring racing event.
Per the previous finder not magnetic but still hidden where it should be. Replaced as found after signing the log. tftc

Definitely a child friendly cache. Geokid made the find with a small amount of prompting. Magnetism seems to have disappeared, but cache still hidden out of sight.

After finding Bunya - The Race I walked across the oval towards an enormous tree. Ficus macrophylla - great shade trees.
Sadly I can remember the fights to save them in the North Sydney/Kirribilli area when they put the Warringah Freeway through. None survived. Now they are being removed in Hyde Park too.
The information about the trees says they grow along the east coast of Australia. This would have to be one of the furthest west specimens.
There were two muggles enjoying the shade of the tree, reading and having lunch. Luckily both were absorbed in their books and after the previous find I knew what to look for so it was a quick grab, log signing and replacement.
My lunch was calling too so I made this my final cache for the day. 9/9 finds.

#3377 - Nice find, even though a family parked right next to it and proceeded to slow get all their gear out the car. Big tree this MBy fig. Really stands out in this park. Many thanks to the CO Deputy D0g for establishing and maintaining another local cache.

Found this one after "the race" nice and easy - only a small family of muggles at GZ, I just pretended l was photographing the beautiful fig tree. TFTC
I enjoy these fig trees very very much, they grow so big, but the one I saw 2 weeks back when I was caching in a park in Woollahra/Bondi Junction (GC433EA Wobbly) was probably twice the size.
There is a large fig tree near where I live & there used to be a cache there but its gone now. I would like to put one there but there is a lot vandalism around that tree so need to think hard how to place it.
TFTC DD.

Out for the morning for a couple of puzzles and some we had missed on past runs. Quick find TFTC
What an amazing night and story!
We were just at 'Three Pillars' when we could hear a very obvious party in the background.
After searching for that cache for ages, fireworks started going off and then we realised that they were i the very park we were about to head to to find this cache.
We found 'three pillars' and decided to walk over here instead of driving over so we could enjoy the fireworks (we got so close).
The GeoKids were loving it and went over to the pay equipment whilst I descended on GZ to make the quick cheeky find.
It was quite easy as I used GZ in the dark with the light of my headlamp to pretend I was interested in the info, signed it, took the GeoWife and kids down to show where it was and as cover to replace it as the nearby party was now over and there were heaps of Muggles.
Thank you so much Deputy D0g.

Hot day, didn't feel like much geocaching, so grabbed this one to keep a streak going. Cache was full of ants, so tried to persuade them to relocate.
We found it but the whole thing was full of ants. Might want to check up on it.
#422 Sixth of seventeen finds on a day's caching around Blacktown and Quakers Hill. Nice quick and easy find. TFTC
Well I thought to myself I need a break from everything. So I packed my bags and headed out the door and headed for nsw/Canberra. And the goal was to find some caches along the way so here we are. Thanks for taking me to this location. TFTC.
No. 627
I parked near the tree, and admired the size of it. I did a full walk-around just to admire it before even looking for the cache. What a beauty. The cache itself was found without any trouble, especially with the hint. Thanks very much for the hide, a great spot.

Decided while the wife was having a girls day I would take time to do some caching.
Once I got to GZ I was able to quickly find the case with no issue. Signed the log. Thanks for the cache

Just before dusk. There were a few people out and about but I was able to find and sign the cache and return it to its spot without incident. TFTC.
Another day at work, another cache on the way home. Parked opposite GZ but had to wait a while before a family with children left the nearby playground.
