Tftc easy find
Out doing a loop with mumandme.
Great sunny day out to be caching.

A lovely area to walk and look for caches, also a new area for Talla64 and I. The cache was a nice quick find - co-ords spot on. Thank you for the cache, Barnarbys Travels, and for bringing us to an area we have not been before.
Out and about with Flowerydaze on a lovely walking track. Phew is an apt description for this one. We turned around after this one and retraced our steps down the hill with the gunfire from the rifle range ringing in our ears. TFTC BarnabysTravels
Found a phew with 2 bulbars as we visit this area.

This is a great park and we love riding the Mt bike around here

Last time I was here the cache was buried under a pile of spoil resulting from clearing a nearby slip Reasonably easy find this time It's still hosing down so I'm off home! At least the ride down past the Gliding Club to the carpark will be quick and easy - it was! TFTC
# 1172 Happened to be out this way finding the final for a cache in the welly climbs series. This was an easy find on the way back from that. I was amazed at the water proof ness of this kind of container, it was bone dry inside! Seems to be far better than the sistemas that people seem to persevere with, and then only to be found full of water.
Thanks for the micro rest on the way back to the car.

Well did not expect to be out here today. Yesterday was a miserable day with so much rain and cold wind. Today was suppose to be the same, but when we woke up and the weather was clear Gr33nslime decided we should head out for a couple of caches that she had eyed up. So in the end DangerSAM, Gr33snlime and I headed up the valley to do some caches on an unexpectedly great morning. As we neared parking for the trails, we were going to fossick around however we saw an unusual amount of cars piled up, ‘oh no the walk is on’ Gr33nslime stated. And sure enough we were surrounded by hundreds of keen runner and walkers looking to chew up the trails in eagerness. So this was not necessarily a problem for us give we wee going to explore some side trails, but it was however an issue getting anywhere near an easy car park so that DangerSAM did not have to walk for miles. In the end we succeeded in parking the car (who knew that would be the first challenge) and set out on foot to do our own trail walking (after dodging the helpful volunteers who kept trying to rope us in (literary) to the event).
Happy to come along and find this one today. It was nice and dry as Gr33nslime states and worth a visit. Thanks for placing a cache here.

I think at this point I was actually walking, rather than being carried. I demanded i be shown where the cache was hidden... and then we started walking again and i kept saying another geocache, another geocache!
Nice day for a bike ride after the rain. Easy find and thanks for the incentive to come here.

Tried to dig out the original cache that had been buried, but it was too deep, so soon gave up. Have repositioned a new container at an undisturbed hiding spot near to the original location.
Cache has been buried...just. Would need a spade to dig it out. Disabling it until I can move a new container to a nearby suitable hiding place.
Looks like this one has been buried The road has been cleared of a slip on the opposite bank and the spoil dumped on the cache Will send CO a photo
We really enjoyed the caches we did in this area today.
Expected the track to be in much worse condition, but it has a good surface and is nice and wide. Another good find here - SL TFTC

#5433. Good Friday holiday and its a glorious fine, sunny, calm day. Time to go geocaching in the Rimutakas. I decided today was going to be a walk up some of the cycle tracks and pick up caches all the way up to the incline. A very popular place to be today for many muggles. Time to head uphill again and find the next cache. In fact this one proved to be the high point of the day as there was quite a lot of downhill to come. The cache should have been easier to find if I knew the Latin name for a certain weed. I only know it by the common name but I am now better informed. I did know the native plant so after wandering around for a few minutes I spied one that fitted well with the nearby plants and soon found the cache. Signed the logbook and returned the cache as found. Thanks for the cache BarnabysTravels. Claiming 209m altitude gain for the DGSC challenge.
On my last visit to this area I bypassed this cache due to time constraints. However I was surprised to find the cache in relatively quick time just because I was in no hurry. The outer container was quite full of water but the inner one kept the log dry. TFTC.
Thanks to Infoferret for replacing the log, which is now inside a small pill container within the cache. Have moved the cache back to where it was supposed to be so that its location once more matches the hint: it seems to have been moved a bit over the years, only a metre or so, but it would have made it a bit harder to find.
On an outing with BarefootGuru, TharnThe Harkan, The Wandering Dragons and the Leprechaun we managed 6 caches. The walk up to the start of the track was relatively easy and then the going got tough. From 6ft high gorse bushes and cutty grass along with a 600m ascent it took us a good few hours to the summit. Goat tracks and bush bashing there and back were part and parcel of this series. T4TC. Once we got back down we went to find this one which was burried under leaf litter and soaking wet. We replaced the cache container.
Found with Barefootguru, Infoferret and CrystalFairy after doing Goat Rock and Tunnel Summit. Replaced log as it was completely saturated and slimy. Tftc.
Found after the Goat Rock and Summit Epic trek with Tharn the Harkan and Barefoot Guru and Chrystal Fairy. Took us longer than it should have to locate - I blame tired legs and brains. As the Logbook was no longer useable, we replaced it with a dry one. TFTC.
Took a while with 4 of us searching before CrystalFairy finally unearthed the well buried cache. We sorted the slimy log before continuing our return. Thanks BarnabysTravels!
Took me a while to find it had a good covering of "Mulch" despite not being found all that long ago. Probably would have taken longer without the good hint. Thanks for that. TFTC
Cache # 3,577 - this one was, by FAR, the hardest to find of the day. It might have been easier to find when first placed, but time has taken its toll on the area and the cache was well buried, and the descriptive coverage was mostly decayed. Very happy to find it and not have a sad face on the day! TNLNSL. All well in the cache once unearthed. TFTC.
Found during a misty drizzly mountain bike ride from tunnel gully around the hills to meet up with the Rimutaka incline and then back again.
Hardest one of the day as lots of hint objects around and had to Google the tree names to see what was going on. Was worried we might get a DNF on this one but patience (not mine) won through on the day.

#2080 Maintaining a long streak is proving to be rather a dark activity at this time of year. It was closing on dark as I arrived home from work and I still needed a cache today to keep the Leprechaun streak alive. I became very familiar with this area earlier in the week whilst out chasing a nearby new cache with another cacher and then placing one nearby around midnight in the storm. I often find myself passing caches so I can return another day to keep that streak alive and this cache was another fitting that bill. Today is the day to return!
All good at GZ tonight. A dry night compared to earlier this week so no risk of getting water in to the nice dry container. The log book is also dry and there is plenty of space for others to make the relatively short trip up to GZ. A pleasant evening walk followed by a lovely visit to CO before coming hom for dinner.
All in all another great geocaching experienc which earns a favourite point for this cache. I expect to be back up this way again sometime soon for another cache nearby.

I was lying in bed this morning contemplating a walk and geocache when I spotted this "phew" series on my phone app. My mother (also a keen cacher) and I have a little cache phrase "lovely phew!" When we get to the top of steep hills so I decided this was the walk for me today! There are certainly some lovely phews from up here. This one took me a while to find. In the end I found it helpful to read the hint carefully to avoid any more thrashing around in the bushes and being poked in the face. TFTC!
Isn't it amazing just how far you can go in 183m spurts haha was only going for bang bang today now look where I am. Might as well head to the gliding club now. Probably a shorter distance back than turning around. Tftc
This was the first of the lower altitude caches at the homeward end of a tramp from Tunnel Gully up to Goat Rock and down the old road to join the forestry track near this cache.
After bashing down through head-high gorse and toi toi, the going was easy from here and the cache was a fairly quick find too.
Co-ordinates were good and the cache was secure and dry.

#6554. A nice hike in Rimutaka Hill today. The weather was cloudy with light rain, but nothing like the deluge we had a couple of days ago. Did not come across anyone else on the tracks until we got down to the Rimutaka Rail Trail. All quiet at GZ. Quick find. The cache was in excellent condition. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log. Thanks for the cache.
I decided it was time to check on the well-being of one of my caches so I was delighted a good number of caches has been placed in this area since my last visit to this area. My GPSr wasn't that helpful (maybe due to cloud cover) but I used the parts of the hint that I could understand and geocaching intuition to work out the likely hiding place. I was surprised to be able to see the cache from a few metres away so I covered it up a bit better.
We have had our eye on this area for a time now. So, pleased to be able to make a visit today.
Walked up from below the airstrip.
Cache find was straightforward.
All in order; log signed, safely re-hidden.
One of 5 caches found on today's expedition in the area.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

It was a great afternoon for a bike ride so loaded the bike in the back of the vehicle and headed off to find the four new caches in this area. Came up past the gliding club and on to this one after having diverted to get "Phew! too". I know quite a few botanical names but not the one mentioned in the hint; however fortunately there was good cellphone reception so a quick Google search got me what I wanted. Having identified it I recognised the plant immediately. A very good detailed hint and a consequent very quick find. Signed log, TFTC!
A quickish find on my way down from Goat Rock and Tunnel Summit. Like most caches I found today, had to use the hint. TFTC!
Stopped to search for cache while walking a loop from the loop parking area to the incline back past the gun club and go-cart track to the loop parking area. Found cache after a small search. Uplifted TB 4K4762 Signed log and replaced as found sky getting a little on the dark side and a few spots of hail falling, so then off to find the cache at Phew!

Wahoo! FTF @ 8:00am today. Surprised to see the logs for this one still empty when I got up this morning. Weather looking "changeable", but knowing exactly what awaited me decided it was worth the effort for a quick pre-work cycle. Phew! Hasn't got any easier than the last time I was here!
A quick find, sign and addition of a trackable, then on to it's sister cache further up the trail.
Took about 20 minutes to collect both caches (and about 5 mins to return to the car!!! Just love that downhill on a MTB .
TFTC!
