Logs
Good to see the original logbook. I poured a bit of water out of the container but the logbook is soft but IK thanks to the double-plastic-bagging. TFTC. Too cold and damp to venture down to the tunnel today - another time.
Now this was worth the detour. A good view of the old railway. Would love to get to see the tunnel one day. The recommended parking spot is a signposted angler access to the river.
A couple of days with big Sis (Raylnz) out in the country before having to hibernate again. TFTC
Day one caching and seeing the sights of Otago and a bit of Southland with raylnz (big Sis from CH-Ch.) Brilliant day on the coast. Good to be out and about before our next self-imposed home detention. tftc
Out of a day sightseeing and caching with gdkja. Easy find but a bit damp and smelly.
I'm heading sou'east from Gore in my cachemobile trying to locate and sign off caches in that direction.
I love ghost railways.
Cheers for the cache.

Cache 570 another Dot day another quick park and grab I’m having to travel further and further out from town frequently now to keep my 365 day going luckily still a few out this way to go, cache was a bit wet inside but thanks to the white baggy the log and swag was dry T4TC
Found on our South Island roadtrip. A quick cache and dash here in Wonderfully green countryside. All is well with the cache. Log signed. TFTC
Had a great day down in the Deep South Caching 870km traveled in 16hr's many thanks to all the cache owner's, still have heaps to do. Thanks Bitsprayer
Having just been through the Catlins I can see why this was in the ultimate plan. Best made plans and all that! Little did they know way back then that they were paving the way for a cache placement. Good on them! TFTC # 12,006
A nice finded on our way past on a beautiful day out and about picking g up cache or two.

On the road before 8 this morning to see how close I can get to my goal of 2000 by the end of the year.
Found while taking part in the virtual Leith Cup. Saw no point in retracing more road than I needed to. Now back for the weigh-in.
Unintentionally followed the instructions, doing a u turn before coming back to the paper road. Enjoy finding g out about things like this. Might have to look up the annual event.
Thanks for the smilie.

A quick easy find near the obvious route the railway used to follow, and an interesting relative. TFTC
Attended the Family Walk through the Glenham Tunnel nearby and did some caching on our way back home. TFTC.
First geocache fi d on our way home from Maple Glen gardens. Easy find thank you!
Quick find after a good day of caching. Weather dried out enough to allow us to find this last one in the sun. TFTC
Coords had me a wee way off, but Searchwisely had searched wisely and soon had it in hand.
A quick find while cruising around Southland today. Could easily see the cutting across the road where the railway used to run. All in order. TFTC
Quick park and grab for my last cache of the day. Was time to head on with my journey. TFTC.
One of a few boxes grabbed on run back to Wyndham. Stopped in a side road and walked back to the GZ. Box found in good hide but it's a little wet mate. Wrapped things up with something we had in the truck which might make do. SL tftc
Quick find first of the 5 planned for the afternoon. On way home from a walk in Maple Glenn with wife and mother. Got herded while strolling at Maple Glen by a swan. It did not want me and mun walking in a particular place. No hissing but real bent neck and strutting close. I kept my bag between it and me and retreated. Here is a photo of the bird. It was also terrorizing the ducks on the water. TFTC.
A church friend that used to live on Coal Pit Road has talked about going through the tunnel in her early years.

My mission is my first 3 day tramp on Stewart Island. The Seagnoid has Xmas off so we are off on an epic adventure with Zara around the South Island. The Seagnoid is navigator and scribe, Zara and I have teamed up and Im cache logger. Its The Catlins to Bluff today, so lets get going!
Just had to stop here as the Seagnoid loves railway stations and has many of his own caches at them. Thanks for the great write up about this station. That tunnel walk sounds interesting. Another quick snag and grab. Cheers

TaybeeDragon and I are off for a three day walk on Stewart Island. But we have a camper, so once you add in getting there and back, it's a three week trip. Day 9: Catlins to Bluff.
I love railway caches - having placed 40 of my own at railway stations in the Manawatu (most of those stations no longer exist - heck, in most of then neither does the rail line!).
Dropped in an emerald, a smiley and a favourite.

Quick find. Never seen the railway line even though we have been down this road many times
Take a road less travelled (by us) and enjoying the views over the green country side. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
We parked further along the road where it felt safer to park and walked along to to make a quick find. found with debsnz
Heading back to Dunedin after a weekend in Bluff. Decided to take a detour and mark off a few more off the main highway. Nice quick find in the dark by K. TFTC
Thanks to an initiative taken by Pipedream we were able not only to find the cache, but also to walk through the tunnel. With permission we tacked on behind" rear end Charlie" in the annual mtb/walk/run Glenham school fundraiser, and even got a lift in a 4wheeler drawn sheep trailer down to the tunnel entrance. We walked through the tunnel and then climbed back up to the cache mobile. An altogether fun day.You have to spare a thought for the workers who made this tunnel, all with pick& shovel and probably horse or bullock drawn contraptions to transport the material away. The farmer said that the huge number of bricks were all made locally. They seem to be lasting incredibly well. There was a bit of water on the floor of the tunnel but the base was solid and stony,so no problem.Took a few snaps.TFTC
I drove straight past - so parked up opposite Wilson Rd, and walked back towards the cache site. Was a quick easy find, and such a quiet road!
200 yeah! Significant find on a lovely calm day. Took a pic for my sister, not the tunnel she was looking for but a means to an end. TFTC
Second time looking for this one and better luck this time. Good days caching even if the weather was bitterly cold. Tftc
Found with Mr Potty, AW Harding and Mumander on our wintery drive around Southland. Noticed glasses in cache, guess someone found them nearby and put them in in case they belonged to a cacher.
The lonesome whistle of an approaching train can no longer can be heard in these valleys and no hobos are to be seen hitching a ride any more. Sadly that is progress.
Definitely a nod to U.N.C.L.E for this one. It was getting dark so a quick find and then onwards to Wyndham. Thanks for the history lesson stegan.
It would be awesome to go through the tunnel, not enough time today, it's nearly dark and we are starving - we are heading to Gore for a very late dinner!! TFTC
Another cool cache in a spot that would probably be missed by most passing through. A good size container as well with a lot of booty in it for the junior cacher to rummage through. We dropped a TB and GC here so they could continue their travels. TFTC [^]
On a caching trip today with some fellow cachers. Called into cache on a round circuit from wyndham, mataura and hedgehope. tftc
On our way home from a trip around the coast between balcultha and waihola and thought we would take the side trip to log the find, tftc!
Found with Chosen1978 on way home from a day trip up the east coast. A quick detour and the cache soon found and log signed. TFTC

Thanks for the cache stegan
