Hint seems out of date. A better one would be maybe "do not disturb the penguins".

Came as a night cache as staying at the NZMCA site for a few days. If I had known there was a penguin breeding colony here I would not have done so. You do not need to go past the barrier. Please do not do so. I heard the penguins in the distance but none near gz though there are nest boxes. Should really be moved a few meters back away.

Day 19 of three weeks winter motorhoming in the upper half of the South Island. Moved on from Pakawau in Golden Bay today via Collingwood (Adventure Lab time) to Takaka and on to Port Tarakohe for the night. Picked up a number of caches along the way despite quite a bit of rain at times.

After making it to our nearby base for the night I checked to see what caches were in the vicinity. Quite a few actually! As we were fast running out of daylight I decided to go after just this one. Fortunately it was a quick find, although I’m still not quite sure how the hint applies! #4224. TFTC.

A quick find by SJT_NZ while I was still reading the description, we're in the area geocaching on a two day jolly. Got here early and even still because of the good weather a lot of people getting their boats ready and a few fisherman. Thanks Juicy Fruits for the cache.

A quick find with Tregearp on a caching weekend over the hill. All quiet just after 7:00 a.m. but certainly a bit cool. We watched the an out rigger with a crew of about 8 head out for their morning training run. All in good order, thanks Juicy Fruits for the cache.

Day 6 of a 9 day caching holiday in the Tasman region with GB Leader. After heading over the Takaka Hill yesterday, today we explored the area around our eco accommodation in Wainui Bay, almost as far as the road goes. Then off to Takaka to explore and cache. Just here there are lots of blue penguin boxes, and I didn’t feel comfortable fossicking about. Also, there is a lot of recent earthworks in the area. So recording a DNF.

#8528. I am over in the Takaka region on a work trip. After spending a couple of nights in the back country it was time to return to civilisation. After a debriefing of our field trip in the office I had a few hours spare before dinner to go and find some local caches. I parked near the clubrooms and headed out along the breakwater to GZ. Found a place that looked suitable for hiding a cache and was pleased to spy the container immediately. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache where found. Thanks Juicy Fruits for hiding it here. I wondered where the cache title came from and now I know.

A lovely day to visit this spot and after parking our campervan we strolled to find the cache. No muggles whatsoever to hinder us.

A favourite point given for the sturdy container and location and also for the history behind it, marking such an incredible achievement for a 16 year old.

Over here for the weekend staying at the NZMCA park. Had at great morning watching a barge getting loaded full of rocks by a digger. Then it was time to take the dogs for a short walk in between showers of rain. Grabbed the GPS and off we go. Nice spot for the cache right where i thought as we were out yesterday walking the dogs and spotted this spot and thought it was a good cache sight. Cheers for the cache.

17-Jun-17
Taking a winter birthday break at Pohara Top 10 Holiday Park. Wandered out for a walk while waiting for barge loading to start. Port Tarakohe a great deal busier than last year with the rock being trucked in and barged to Wellington, apparently for the Transmission Gully motorway. TFTC.

We are keen geocachers on holiday from Tauranga, gathering a few smileys as we go. We overthought the clue at first, then spotted a likely geocaching spot and so it was. Cache is all good, carefully replaced. Very quiet around here this afternoon, saw some manta rays cruising along in the shallows, but not much else, TFTC

Hello from Juneau, Alaska. I walked over from Ligar Bay on a beautiful morning. Several fisherman throwing their casts nearby. They didn't pay much attention to me. I looked in the wrong places first, then I made the discovery. I tried to make it too hard! #3797

Walked from the optimist cache and watched different techniques of launching boats ( smoothiest and quickest launch was by a young couple and SHE was driving the 4wd yay for girls lol ) wandered past the cache to start with but soon back tracked and had cache - signed the log and wandered to the end - Thanks for the cache Smile

03-Dec-16
This weekend us capperz are over the hill to Golden Bay and celebrating. It's our wedding anniversary on Friday followed by my 50th birthday on the Saturday. So we looked around for a decent place to go for the weekend and the potential of this beautiful area won out (this time). Only grabbed the one cache on the Friday night (there was much drizzly rain and poor visibility) trip over the hill(s) so there was much anticipation for what was next. Both the Saturday of my half-century milestone and the Sunday were bathed in golden sunshine and the temperature was perfect; neither too hot nor too cold.
Was aiming to get both the caches on the arms of what looks like a stag beetle (on maps) but had to settle for just the one. There were a couple of people around but managed to stealth in for the find

A lovely stroll on a sunny winter day and great reminder of this young woman's epic achievement!! TFTC:-)

18-Jul-16
This is our last cache for the day as the sun has gone and night is quickly falling. At least it was a nice simple find.

19-Jun-16
What a fantastic achievement - Laura Dekker's that is, not my finding the cache.

I have learned to sail, but never truly got to grips with that, so prefer the kayak and paddle option.

Neither forms of transport were needed today, just some common sense and patience.

I overlooked the hiding place on my first pass around, but spotted the likely place on my second lap.

Best get back to the bach now before our guests arrive.

Thanks.

There was a very cold wind blowing as we walked to this cache so thankfully it didn't take too long to find. Also thankfully Hazedarus had the foresight to look where I had already but my excuse is that his arm is longer.
Thank you Juicy Fruits.

NZDi and I have been planning a long weekend in Golden Bay for a month or so and today these plans came into fruition. Of course a long weekend out of town would not be complete without the odd cache thrown in and so a few caches were planned along the way. The weather back in Blenheim had been crap all week and the forecast for the weekend was not that flash either, however as soon as we got across the Whangamoa's we could see this part of the country was bathed in sunshine.

This is day three of our Golden Bay caching weekend and the plan was to visit The Grove, Rawhiti Cave, The Labyrinths and the Milnthorpe Park with a few random cache to link them all together.

After getting Tarakohe Harbour, it was only natural that we should go for this one. The last time I used the launch ramp here was to launch my jet ski back in December 2013, at that time some careless driver put a ding in my geomobile and didn't own up to it, so I don't have fond memories of this place. This time I got a smiley face for my efforts, a much better outcome.
