Recently slashed area has made this cache potentially dangerous to look around for. Not one to take the littlies to find. Potential for them to fall. Thanks anyway!

#7474 (1 of 2 today)

Up on the Central coast today for Christmas with friends, but let's be honest, I can't pass up the chance to grab a few caches up here...
I was also after a few calendar finds today, so decided I'd sneak away during that post-lunch lethargy that often descends after a good feed, and grab two finds.

Had three possible candidates, and once I was unsure of one during my drive-past, I had my two targets.
Got both. HUZZAH!
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
Well, found the parking spot easily enough, so started by trying the direct approach. Had too much trouble getting solid footing with the leaf litter, so checked the listing... There's stairs?!

Found them easily and was soon in the right area to start searching. My, those cars are going past so fast!
Circled a bit and spotted nothing. Then noticed something that looked a bit like the rubbish that unfortunately finds it's way here. But it also looks a bit cachey... Better check it.

That's it!
Probably lucky I found it now as it seemed ready to travel down to the Old Tuggerah Road level in the next bit of rain. It's certainly not where it should be.

Completed signing duties and replaced in the spot I expect it should be. Added some camo, and back to the Geowife's Mugglemobile.

One down, one to go.

Today I headed up to the Wyong racecourse for the annual Central Coast Amateur (HAM) Radio Field Day. And after a fun filled day of HAM radio activities it was now time to head back to Sydney, but I couldn’t resist grabbing a few caches before leaving the Wyong area. This was the 2nd of 7 finds, and 1 DNF, for the afternoon.

This one was next, parking the geomobile at the tunnel's eastern entrance and then walking up the stairs to GZ. Not sure why others have had trouble locating the stairs, as they seemed very obvious to me today, but maybe the vegetation has changed recently with the drought.

At GZ the cache was a reasonably quick find, after first discounting the most obvious feature. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. The container interior & log are very wet, but I still managed to leave my mark on the wet & slimy parchment. TFTC GeoKrew.

Reperio at 1445.

After spending the morning attending the nearby GCNSW walking event, we decided to take the kids to find another cache, and a tunnel seemed like a good spot. We parked and decided to take the stairs up to GZ where we were greeted by a lot of rubbish. Fortunately the cache was in a usual looking spot as it would have been easily mixed up with the rubbish, but while the container contained a little bit of water inside, the two zip locked bags kept the log book dry.

That was an effort on the way home from work...!
I was given a hint as where to look but told if I want the smiley for my profile I needed to get up there and earn it...!
The camo is starting to get a little thin but otherwise in good shape, except it could do with a log bag...!

29-Dec-16
I stopped by thinking it might be in the tunnel but a quick appraisal deemed that unlikely. So up the steps I went. But all I found was a couple of pipes with tape at the end, it didn't appear to be the cache.

10-Dec-16
Steps? What steps, I didn't see any, just clambered up the hill towards GZ. I went right to the top and watched the traffic flying past. Next time I'm up here, well heading back home I'll have to slow down and have a look at this spot!
Anyway I looked around and quickly spotted something suspect. Checked it out and had CIH. I sat down and signed the log then returned the cache where I found it.
I then checked the equipment alongside the M1 assuming there must be a way for service guys to access it, must be those illusive steps, but couldn't see anything so returned down the hill I'd come up all the time hoping I wouldn't slip and fly off the top of the tunnel onto the road below. Could have happened but obviously didn't or I wouldn't be posting this log!

TFTC and another geocaching adventure, kept my streak going!

A nice day for a drive to collect a smiley or two. Had only 50% success rate today. This was a good find although I thought it may have been muggled when I found some PVC tube with duct tape on it. With good coords the real cache was quickly found. TNSL. Left a penny. Cache in good order. THanks GeoKrew

What's the purpose of the stairs around this tunnel? I have no clue. They were certainly fun to walk up though, and then I spent a good fifteen minutes burrowing around and investigating assorted pieces of PVC pipe before turning to my GPS, which revealed that I'd been in the wrong area entirely to find the cache. Once I started to trust in the GPS a little more I found the cache almost immediately. I must have looked like a complete madman to the cars passing by, covered as I was in twigs and leaves and dirt!

29-Feb-16
Nice quick find on the way to work with Jonignite. A nice peaceful spot to get the cache. The school traffic made it hard to get back on the main road, this one would be a breeze at a different time of day or while weekend caching. Thanks for the cache GeoKrew.

Nice hide bit of a scramble but fun first thing in the morning
Thanks Geo Krew for the hide

07-Feb-16
Trying to fill another hole in the geocaching calendar we were passing near here and decided to try for this one.
We used the stairs, located the obligatory PVC pipe which seems to be mandatory now, then Mr Shifter was at the right elevation to locate the cache. Some of the camo is coming off making the container more obvious.
Thanks The GeoKrew.

27-Dec-15
Sadly this isn't the first time I've recorded a DNF on a D1 cache and no doubt won't be the last. There were a couple of pieces of empty PVC tubing, one looking like it'd been intentionally hidden under a piece of wood, but given previous logs mentioning a well-constructed camo, I was pretty sure neither were ever part of the cache. Apart from that, all I found was discarded freeway litter strewn amongst patches of overgrown weeds, and after half an hour of fruitless searching while feeling overexposed to traffic passing through the tunnel, decided to move on.

04-Dec-15
First find for the day. Stocked the cache up full of swaps as it was empty. Tftc.

Fifth of the morning out for some caching with the geokids for the first time in years. Needless to say the kids are excited.

This was a quick and easy find, the camouflage gave it away. Mini chef was excited to find it on his own.

I took the stairs as my footwear wasn't very grippy, and after a short search the cache was located.

BillHill531 and I set out early on our way to the Pi event and stopped for some caches. This was the first of ten today. We decided to take the scenic route and went past this one. We stopped, it was wet, I climbed up, I found the cache and slid back down. Then we found the easy way up.
Thanks for the nice camo and decent sized cache!

Found 8:17 pm with SkyPirate~. After doing another cache over near westfields and after watching a movie. I decided to travel the back way home and grab another couple of caches. When we arrived we had to work out exactly where we were supposed to go and the reference to steps helped. We headed up and made our way to GZ we saw a couple of items which we thought may have been the cache in tatters. But we kept looking and then it was spotted hiding, camouflaged quite well. We signed the log and then replaced the cache as found. Thanks for the cache. It was a bit a strange being next to the freeway with cars whizzing past as I used the torch to see what we were doing. I wonder what the drivers thought.

This was the first cache of the weekend that could fit the couple of TB's that I had, and a nicely cammoed one at that. Thanks GeoKrew and cheers from Browngang

This was so much harder than it had to be. GeoHubby went up, searched and searched, gave up, GeoWife went up, searched and searched, gave up and then GeoHubby went up again.

Found it in the end off the back of previous logs. Might need a hint for some more inexperienced cachers?

Anyways, awesome hide The GeoKrew.

Cool cache! Was a bit worried that I hadn't brought my torch, but not a problem. The cache is a good size and I really liked the camo. Took the VW TB and squeezed a new TB in, and left some stickers. Looking at the photoes for the cache I liked DOC WHO's pic from the odd angle Smile TFTC Mr GeoKrew, good one!

First cache for the day with Dirtsquirter. Up the stairs, Dirtsquirter soon had cache in hand. Love the camo. The freeway was busy (as always) but no concern to us. Logged and off to the next one. TFTC The GeoKrew

This proved trickier than I ever imagined. There was more traffic than I anticipated and I felt very exposed whilst on the hunt. GZ was moving around a bit, and then a crew of tree loppers decide to park in the little layby just before the tunnel. They seem to be watching me, and I am thinking they could be cachers too, then some more turn up. At least they seem to have forgotten about me now. I widen the search and 10 minutes of searching results in a bingo!. Very impressive container in a great hide. The men in orange trucks are not visible so I secretly take the container, sign log, note TB then return to its hide. By the time they saw me again I was driving off. Thanks for the adventure this afternoon.. Day 26/31 5/6 total 727. TFTC The GeoKrew

15-Sep-14
Oops I forgot to log this one! I remember thinking that I was going to do it later that night, but apparently that mustn't have happened. I think I may have found it on the 15/9? Anyway this was not what I expected! I had a preconceived idea of what and where this could be but boy was I wrong!

I pulled up to the site and a Coles delivery truck was in the parking bay across the road. He must have been killing some time before heading back to the depot. I snuck up the trail and was surpised at where it ended. It seems pretty well built for what it is.

I had a look around the spots that I thought for sure the cache would be. I mean there are only a few spots here to search aren't there? I too felt a little uneasy standing next to the freeway searching. I wasn't worried about being hit by anything, more worried that people were wondering what I was doing there. I couldn't think of any good reason to explain my presence there and was worried that the police might send along someone to talk me down from the side of the highway!

I searched, and searched, and searched, and walked away, and came back, and searched some more. I finally spotted something! I'm very impressed with this hide indeed! I don't want to give too much away with this one, but it is very well built! Well played Mr GeoKrew!! Favourite point awarded!!

TFTC cheers

Grabbing a couple of quick caches while passing thru to today's target, I was keen to see another of Mr GeoKrews constructions (of those ive found, I really like them - Mr GeoKrew is quite clever)...anyway I spotted the stairs and seemingly the obvious way up so that's where OpaBob and I went...with trucks whizzing we honed in quickly - and Mr GeoKrews camo'd container certainly didn't dissapoint - loved it, and bonus, the big rig I was carrying fit Smile

Called in for a cuppa with Mumma-Kel after attending a Father's Day breakfast at the grandkids' school and she suggested I come along on her quest to find a suitable home for a VIP traveller (or is that a travelling key?) she had found. Along the way, we saw this nearby GeoKrews hide so dropped in for a visit. After climbing the steps (that really did seem to be the better ascent) and heading to GZ, I quickly spotted something suspicious and the cache was in hand. Logging duties performed, I headed back to the stairs and turned back to Kel, only to see her descending the other way. To my surprise, she made it to the bottom on her feet rather than on other parts of her anatomy!

Thanks for an interesting cache, GeoKrew.

I was elected to find this one while MrsFish and our dog watched from the car. You could just have well called this cache The Stairway to Nowhere, why on earth is such a new construction there at all? The excellent camo was spotted only very close to GZ, another Mr GeoKrew masterpiece. Thanks for a great hide, but luckily our dog didn't get upset so close to her Holiday Resort just up the road.

Well I was still out and about anyway so why not...?
Stopped a little away from the big tube so I could close in slowly to work out which side I should approach from...! After awhile I had an idea of where I needed to be so made my way to where the numbers were smallest, searching until I got that, "There is something not quite right about that" feeling, Yay CIH and again Great coords on this one. Another 2TF @ 18:26pm and this time I remembered to Date the log not just give the time!!!
As the Doc said, great job on the cache camo, could easily be over looked.
Even with 2 x 2TF's for the day, I'm still not feeling great and am going home to bed.
