Thanks for a nice visit to this great lookout. Late in the evening and the weather is cooling a bit and not too many people around. What a lovely place to visit. Thanks Moneybox

What a brilliant geological feature is the Hammersley range. We could have spent a week exploring the area but sadly could only spend two days based at Tom Price. Earns a favourite point from us. Big thanks to Moneybox for placing this earth cache. Cache number 9747 on October 3, 2024

Found on a trip to Western Australia from Adelaide with FeatherWaite. We camped between Tom Price and Karijini National Park last night then headed into the park for a couple of days. What a fantastic park! I was here around 35 years ago but things were very different then. Its now so much easier to get around with sealed roads, constructed tracks and steel ladders down into the gorges - and a lot more people about as a result. Thanks Moneybox for another interesting earthcache.

Found with e.gregory1 on a trip from Adelaide to north-western Western Australia for four or so weeks. After camping out along the road between Tom Price and Karijini, we traveled out to spend the next two nights at Karijini National Park. We spent the day visiting the sights around this amazing landscape, hiking the gorges, sightseeing the scenic lookouts and finding a few caches along the way. Thanks for the very scenic earthcache Moneybox!

What a sensational adventure! We walked the gorges and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Thank you, Moneybox for this cache.

We decided to check out these two gorges today. We first went down to Hancock Gorge as we heard it could get busy. Liked the spider walk and swimming I Kermits pool which we had to ourselves for a while. We then headed out to check out the other walks in the area. We then went for a swim at the Handrail pool. We enjoyed going a bit further where the gorge got narrow and had some overhangs. It's amazing to see all the gorges from oxer lookout. We then headed back down Hancock Gorge for another look. Thanks for the earthcache

Lucky us are staying out for 6 days so plenty of time to wander here at different times of the day - love the magic of Karijini. We are 3500 + kms from home base so it’s totally stunning to be here in this ancient landscape. TFTEC! A fave for location and fun down there!

We began our day with a short walk to the Oxer Lookout, admiring the different gorges come together here and their rock formations. Then we took the class 5 hike down to Hancock Gorge and further to Kermits Pool. Looking back to our 3-month travel in Australia this hike was my favorite experience of the whole journey and I will keep it in my memory for ever. Our answers were only sent to the owner on October 7th, but we log this cache on the day of our visit. Thanks for the Earthcache and regards from Switzerland.

Collected the relevant information at the stunning visitor centre before visiting several gorges and the Oxer Lookout. Today our tour - which began in Perth, WA , and led us thru Western, Northern and Southern Australia back to Perth, was simply visiting the Karijini NP.

On the way we came to some interesting locations. Here we searched, found and logged this Tradi-Cache.

Weather was good in the morning and it should even get better during the day.

Thanks to 'Moneybox' for showing us this location, for the fun we had with 'Hamersley is Hot' and the smiley. The search here and today for the correct answers didn't take too much time, fortunately.

Greetings from Germany and we hope to see you soon in the forest, prairie, desert or outback .

Unfortunately we were only at Karijini for one day, we have a dog and had to leave her in Tom Price, so it was a hurried visit. We managed to complete the three earth caches and left with the promise that we will be back. Thanks for the cache moneybox, answers have been sent.

Well, believe it or not, I am finally tackling some long overdue logging of earthcaches that have been sitting at the top of my Drafts list for way too long. This one was among them, so I fished out the photos and notes that I took on the day I visited. By the way, I have seen much of Western Australia, but Karijini was a part that I hadn't seen up until my visit this time, and I must say I was blown away by its beauty and fully intend to return there another time for further exploration. Anyway, better late than never in claiming my smiley on this earthcache. Thankyou for the knowledge I gained in answering the questions you posed Moneybox.

Thanks for the cache

This a a late log due the photos being stuck on a phone that died on the trip. This was a long awaited trip with our kids, who we took out of school for three months. We did a similar trip same time in 2005. We loved this trip that had so many memories. We loved the swimming exploring and clambering here. Stunning scenery. We did struggle getting pegs into the ground so had to use our water jerry cans and National park posts for the annexe. Thanks for bringing us here.

We very much enjoyed the view from here of the four gorges. We watched people having fun on tubes riding through the gorges. TFTC

Today's main purpose was visiting Weano Gorge and Hemersly Gorge, But unfortunately we couldn't reach the gorge of Hamersley with a 2W drive, wich was quite a dissapointment. So plans were changed and we decided to drive to Dales Gorge which was normally planned for tomorow. The 2 pools in Dale Gorge were amazing! Even more exiting than Weano Gorge, We even saw a lot of sleeping bats in trees in the jungle part of the gorge! It was quite a hot day as usual so I jumped in the Fern pool to cool off!

Thanks for placing these caches on wonderfull places and greetings from Belgium!

Well, I've been here before and found the trad nearby but since it's my first trip back to the Pilbara in quite a while, I had to make a return trip. Not that it took much arm twisting Smile
I had a muggle with me so used the excuse of showing him this great land to come to the lookout.
We went for a wander, whilst I took some happy snaps and made some notes for my email.

Thanks heaps for putting the earthcache out here Moneybox. I have attached a last minute photo to my log, nearly forgot on the way out Smile

A fav point here for bringing me back.

On the way home after the most excellent Red Centre Experience Event at Alice Springs.
We are greatly enjoying our stay in Karajini, plus the extra experience and learning that the Earthcaches have given us.
The scenery here is breathakingly grandiose! And we were lucky to have time at the Lookout on our own to quietly appreciate nature's work over 1,000 of million years.
Answers will be sent at the same time as this log, courtesy of the wifi at the Visitor Centre.
Thanks for this Earthcache Moneybox, a favourite!

I visited Oxer Lookout nearly 14 months ago (February 2016) but the Visitor Centre in the park was closed so could not go scouting for answers then. I was back in the park in April 2017 and the VC was open so did some research while there. Then went to Oxer Lookout again for another look to get an answer for Q4. I made another trip down through Weano Gorge to get to Kermit's Pool, my favourite place in Karijini (and found The Amphitheatre cache which I could not find last time I was there). Thanks for the cache Moneybox. I'll send the answers now.

Day seven and eight of Barnzy12 and Cravo10 adventure to the Northwest of WA, filling out boots with LGAs, rare DT, old caches, and good old fashioned red dirt!

Day 7 saw us travelling from the our furthest point north on the trip in Port Hedland to Karijini National Park via Munjina, Tom Price and then back to Karijini.

We collected most caches between Port Hedland and karjini drive which we used as a turnoff into Karijini and ultimately Tom Price, which is my former home. We cached about, with me giving Cravo a guided tour of the lovely and picturesque town that has had a large number of upgrades since I last came through.

We found most of the caches in Tom Price before heading out to Karijini, which was our home for the next two nights, we checked in after grabbing a couple of caches along karjini drive including an archived cache.

We checked into our accomodation and had an hour to spare before dinner so I convinced Cravo that we should head to Oxers lookout and get some great snaps there, after grabbing both the traditional and the earth cache there I coaxed him down to weano George and ultimately the amphitheatre to grab a T5 cache by ZH before running back to the top of the gorge for dinner. We completed the gorge walk in 40 mins, including finding the cache, the recommended time on the signpost was 3hrs!!

We stayed at the Eco Retreat that night in one of their purpose built Eco tents which are highly recommend, a truly brilliant experience.

The next morning day 8 we explored the gorges as best we could picking up as many caches as available with a couple of them being unavailable due to road upgrades and some fires that have ripped through parts of Karijini. Highlight of the day was a huge swim at fortescue falls which left the both of us with some severe sunburn.

We completed the other t5 cache at Knox gorge which was a big walk down and a bigger walk back up. I was amazed at the upgrades that they had made to the stairs at fortescue falls, it used to be climbing down rocks.

Tomorow sees us heading towards the mining town of Newman, and with the obligatory detours on the way there!

Well this took two trips, one for the traditional Geocache and one for the earthcache, both very well worth it! Love Oxers lookout at the junction of the gorges and looking down to junction pool, reminding me of my Pilbara days where I took a local guided tour through the bottom of these gorges, where things are only more stunning!

Add fav for location and EC

We stayed at the Eco Retreat that night in one of their purpose built Eco tents which are highly recommend, a truly brilliant experience. they do get really warm during the day however cool down nicely once the sun sets and make for a great sleep out in the wilderness

Highlight of the day was a huge swim at fortescue falls which left the both of us with some severe sunburn steve more than I!
we may have introduced our selves to some German Backpackers that were a great laugh and good company giving them the one luxury that they were missing during there times travelling OZ - "Cold water"it may not of lasted long but was a absolute treat for them as a bag of ice to buy in the are was $6.50 minimum and out of there price range

We completed the other t5 cache at Knox gorge which was a big walk down and a bigger walk back up.

Tomorow sees us heading towards the mining town of Newman, and with the obligatory detours on the way there!

Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin F T F Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin

This was a real accident...Big Grin heading off to the Weano Gorge after a freezing cold night on the campground of Eco Retreat we've noticed that there is new Earthcache at Weano Gorge Lookout Cool. To answer question 4 we've of course studied the gorges at Oxer Lookout very intensively, produced a theory and also took some pictures Cool. Unfortunately we were heading towards Tom Price and because of that didn't have a chance to go back to the visitor center...[B)] big mistake...Twisted We thought we will find the answers to questions 1-3 in the www as well [:o)], which turned out to become a nightmare...Surprised Trying to get some answers to those questions on a slow internet connection in the hotel room at night, was not quite as easy as we thought and understanding the information we got in a reasonable amount of time in a (for us) foreign language didn't make it easier Twisted [B)]. Thanks to the CO for the patience with us Wink[^]. But finally we got log approval and here we go...Big Grin

Two more things to mention:
1. We recommend and strongly encourage everybody else trying to log this E-Cache, to first go to the visitor center and get the necessary information for Q1-3 there, it saves you and the CO some headaches Wink.
2. Nevertheless was the research for information very interesting for us and we've learned a lot about Pilbara and the Hamersley Range we would probably never have learned without this E-Cache [^].

Thanks to Moneybox for this E-Cache, we've really enjoyed it [^]
