Today was a numbers run over to the Wairarapa to mainly boost my finds for May, as they've been sorely lacking. I had a couple of missions I wanted to achieve - finding the remaining 250 finds in a month caches (even the ones I haven't yet qualified for), and to attempt to get Skindo's 1000th. I also wanted to visit some locations in the Wairarapa that I've never been to before (even before geocaching). In 12 hours I managed to find 53 caches, including 25 traditionals, 24 puzzles and 2 multis. I also signed 5 challenges, pending future qualification.
After failing to spot any spiders (but not worth logging a DNF) I came by to try this one. After spotting a hidey-hole without anything in it I figured the cache was indeed missing, but after a bit more investigation I found the logsheet tucked away. Signed and replaced. All good here. TFTC+FP

not sure how the previous person got a find when the cache was muggled but today the cache is missing
Cache has been muggled. Messaged the owner for maintenance. Such a shame this is a great cache and it gets fav points from me
My GPSr had me out by the road but I knew that must be wrong. Took me a while to find the hiding spot but got there in the end. TFTC
A nice easy find while walking around the town. on a warm sunny day. Thanks CO for the cache.
After the 2018 WENZ Mega event
mr and mrs went on a Wairarapa tiki tour, and...
struggled to find this hide this afternoon
Found an empty likely hide, and messaged CO

MEGA TRIP 2018.
As usual with the annual MEGA event, we partook in our annual MEGA Trip. However this year was a little different from others, with much more sleep and a little less time caching than usual, but just as much fun being had along the way.
The general goal for the trip was to focus on all the new Virtual caches published over the last year, visiting Cape Palliser (for the Southern most cache in the NI), and Castle Point, along with spending time at the MEGA Event. With this in mind hiring a campervan from Hamilton and seemed like the best way to tackle this goal, plus sleeping in a car with four people, would just be too cramped!
The trip was a great success, and our goals were achieved. A big thanks to all CO's for there hides.
LEG 3: Mega, Cape Palliser and Castle Point: Todays plan was to spend some time this morning at the Mega Event before heading off to Cape Palliser and then working our way North to Castle Point. Two places that have been on the to visit list for a while now.
On the way from visiting Cape Palliser Lighthouse to Castle point and finding a few caches along the way. A quick find here.

Well it's the WENZ Mega Weekend and a plan was hatched to motorhome (as we thought it would make a difference from sleeping in a car which is our normal accommodation method) down here in the company of HKCB, 11HPG11 & Alpenmilch80 and head for a few caches along the way.
As time was of the essence and we had planned to spend bugger all time at the actual mega but rather head for specific caches that we would otherwise not collect.
The record keeping for this trip was a total of 1750kms, (fuel = $450) and less than 100 caches, plenty of Beer & Wine and I still call it a complete success as we got what we came for.
After an amazing trip along the south coast it was time to cache back up to Castlepoint the next point on our itinary and enjoy the Waiarapa countryside.
thanks to all the CO's for whoom without this trip would not ahve been possible.
thanks for the placement

During lunch time on Friday I flew into Wellington from Auckland to meet up with some crazy Hamilton’s (11HPG11, Cats&Dragons & HKCB) to spend some time at the 2018 WENZ Mega and then driving the huge campervan back to the Tron.
After the night spend with a hearty meal and good drinks we refreshed ourselves before moving in the direction of the mega. Afterwards we left the Hutt to drive out to Cape Palliser. And now we are on our way to Castle Point collecting geocaches on the way. TFTC

It's Mega time! This year we decided to hire a motorhome and travel down in relative luxury, very different to the last few years. Our team this year consisted of Cats&Dragons, HKCB and later on Alpenmilch80, and myself, logs were signed as MEGAHOAC. We went on a bit of a whirlwind trip round the lower half of the north island, chasing virtuals, earthcaches and anything a little bit different.
I've never been to Martinbourgh, and now I can say I have. Even if it were only for a half hour or so! Thanks for the cache

Last time I was here, it was raining and I couldn't seem to make anything work.. today I had it in minutes.. the log book is _very_ open to the elements, but nice work otherwise

We spent the night at the campsite around the corner. Before leaving for new adventures in the morning we stopped at GZ. After a quick search I had the logbook in my hands and signed my name. My first cache in NZ!
Thank you for this cache.
Thank you for this cache.
Nice cache, although a bit wet... Leaving the top 10 park this morning to enjoy cape pallisser in the afternoon.
Woo hoo!! Tight. Caching with Sidewaze. My apologies for late logging, my thanks to CO for taking the time to place the cache and giving us the challenge of finding it. TFTC
Love it. We found out when we arrived why this cache had the name that it did. Thanks for the hide .
Followed coordinates and looked in every possible tight spot we could see but nothing. Wondering if it has been moved?
This cache could be very tricky but thanks to good coords we soon made the find. A well deserved favourite point
Just found it on the floor with the log out of its hiding place (and very soggy) so it needs a new paper and some kind of plastic protection for it. Put it back in its rightful place.
Tight spot alright! Great hiding spot. Log is really damp so signature not very legible. May need some maintenance; either dry the log out or replace but TFCT!
First stop on the way home from a fish-and-chips lunch, and a walk in the sunshine at Lake Ferry.
Nicely camoflaged cache although I surprised myself at how quickly I spotted it. Another log among many others today that was almost too wet and soggy to write on - where florists' paper would be more suitable.

Boy this one could be a huge challenge, i lucked out a bit given its placement. TFTC!
Found while in Martinborough for a weekend of cycling around town on Saturday morning and then driving out to Lake Ferry in the afternoon for some sightseeing. This was the second visit by me and the first by Pat. Her fresh eyes made all the difference, a really nice hide. TFTC
Ha! Excellent spot. I'm out doing some caching before the rain hits later tonight. TFTC
We came by here, me and rebel and rusty to see this cache while in this little town. we found the cache open and saw the log exposed, we guessed that it hadn't been returned properly, so finding it was no problem. So after signing ourselves in, we made sure it was hidden the way it was supposed to be. Nice bit of work here wascox, I'm willing to give this one a FP.
Travelling with a group of Westies on a 3 day caching adventure filled with fun and memories: rustynz, rebel98 and gorby
This is probably the favourite find so far! loved the workmanship and thought that went into creating this hide. Well done! loved the find, and we were soon finding the log. Thanks wascox for another hide in Martinburough

Nice easy find on a lovely day out. Was easy to get out but not easy to get back in but all good
Found it. But the missing logs in 2018 are strange.

We are staying in the adjacent top ten park so this was an easy find shortly after arrival. A stormy night is forecast before our winery tour tomorrow! TFTC
Second attempt at finding this log but knew where to look so it was a quick easy find. A great spot! Tftc!
This was a tricky hide. We searched a while but finally we were lucky. We are wondering that there no log of 2018 at the log sheet.
I took my youngest son up to Wellington in the camper van. I dropped him off at his friend's house where he will stay. Meanwhile I get to geocache and be on standby.
I stayed in Martinburough last night and will slowly head to a walk and back looking for geocaches.
It is so good for it to be cool enough to walk. I am staying at the campground nearby. A clever hide.

Didn't find it in the dark but got it the next day after widening my search area
After nine days of our Summer holiday road trip we found a laundry here in Martinborough and went for a walk while it was happening. After grabbing Arachnophobia this was the next nearest. Extra pleased to find a swimming pool here. And it’s free! TFTC and clever hide
We are staying in Martinborough for a night or two and took a stroll from the camping ground into town for a meal this evening. This cache was very near the start of our walk. It was soon spotted as it had been replaced the wrong way round. We left it as it should have been - looking much more natural. A good hide. SL. TFTC.
Nice quick grab on our evening stroll....
Down here from Auckland with walking buddies .
Thanks wascox .

We headed off to the Wairarapa today on a caching expedition - the terrific trio of haydn.seek, PJMacNZ and geodatum. Primarily we aimed to sign in for all the 100 and 250 per month Challenge series, but, of course, would collect as much else as we could along the way. We checked out about 75 caches and had very few failures. We left home at 6.30 am and returned at 9.30 pm. The weather was good - sunny and warm, if a little chilly in windy spots, and dry underfoot. We were good company and our team worked together efficiently. So, in all, a very successful day.
We found this quite quickly, although our GPSrs put it about 7m away. It was actually somewhat loose, so we suspect it has been forced and is a bit broken. CO may wish to check it. TFTC

Nicely prepared cache but i feel it now needs a little up keep to restor it to its former glory.
A serious geo caching day! Not so much about numbers but a dedicated pre planned set of caches covering a fairly large area and many of the caches were puzzle caches we had solved or had qualified for. . We travelled 400km, found about 70 caches and were out on the trail for 15hours, so it was a big serious day.
We left about 6.30am from Palmerston North and travelled thro to Masterton where were picked up out first puzzle cache. And then travelled down the back road towards Martinborough locating the 100 and 250 caches for a month -our main objective!. We stopped at Kokotau reserve for a late morning tea cum lunch but the cache here eluded us even with three searchers and a double look before and again after lunch. We replaced several skindo caches along the route with either new containers or water proof logs as so often they were soaking wet. We side tracked up several side roads for caches and we visited Stonehenge on the way. and then headed into Martinborough to initally look for the cache in the town square which had stumped geodatum earlier. As always PJMacNZ solved the retrieval of this cache and we then headed to the pub for a much earned break and tea with Devonshire scones Yummy! We then continued on our way towards home locating other caches in Martin borough and then on the back route up to Greytown to locate the Cobblestone museum cache which I have searched for on numerous occasions. PJM was able to find the Virtual cache there which was a plus for him. By the time we left Masterton it was starting to darken so we gave away the idea of locating the newer Eketahuna caches. They will wait for another day!.
It was a great day and combined effort by all three of us. Thank you to my partners and the Cos for these caches. Lots of smiley faces and project GC points to boot!!

Thanks. Found on a trip here for Andy’s birthday. Lovely sunny day. First find for ages!
After a tandem bike ride round the vineyards we needed a bit of food to soak it all up, found this sneaky fella on the way back to the camp site TFTC
I love how your brain works! A favourite point from us, and I think this is my favourite wascox find so far. The rest of the family was getting grumpy about our long drive so they stayed in the car while I jumped out to find this one. I found GZ, then had a really good look at the possibilities. Almost the first thing I touched turned out to be the hide, which was very cleverly done. I signed the log and returned everything to their correct places.
Thank you for making the search such fun!

Wandering back to Top 10 from dinner at hotel. Thought “bet there’s a cache at graveyard”. Nope! But one not so much further. Really enjoyed your clever hide. Fav for us. No pen so took photo. Won’t post photo to avoid giving anything away. NINO TFTC
Greetings from Australia, we were visiting some really good friends who we hadn't seen for 3 years, and also visiting the area to see if we could add some smiles we managed to try a few in the area, even though we didn't manage all the local caches we do hope to return to add more smiles soon, log signed and replaced as found Thanks for the cache and the fun
Out with Red Roaming as we tour the globe but spending most time here in this beautiful country. another lovely day. Cache log signed with our full names or DD & RR, depending upon space and time. On our way from Martinborough and going back past Wellington to Plimmerton and doing some caching on the way. I had solved a 'few' caches prior to coming to NZ and this was one of them. TFTC and the puzzle. apologies for the cut and paste logs and the lateness of logging.
what a lovely camp site that was. this is just outside the gates and RR soon was signing the log.

Cache soon found and log signed having stayed overnight in one of the cabins in the very recommended camping site very nearby! Many thanks

Found with jockthekiwi. Definitely needed a lever. The logbook bag is not worse for wear
Another clever cache. Enjoyed this one whilst out biking around Martinborough today. TFTC
#3870. Another big day out planned in the Wairarapa. This time it was Easter Saturday and Infoferret came along with me on a mission to find 50+ caches for another qualifying day for the DGSC challenge bulk find elective. After a short stop at Featherston, it was time to head over to Martinborough. We parked nearby, avoiding going too far onto the wet and slippery grass. A short stroll to the GZ and we both spied something familiar. But still took a bit of effort to reveal the cache. Well done IF on getting it out of that spot. Signed the log and replaced the cache where found. Thanks for another well constructed cache wascox.
Nice hide. Alas Cyclone Cook has down some serious damage here - the rain has swelled the cache slightly making it slightly hard to extract. Then I had trouble putting it back. At least I think that counts as serious damage, it hadn't done peanuts further south. Still, after the thunderous rainfall last night (and thuderous it was) the cache was in pretty good nick. Left a path tag for the next cacher to enjoy.
We have been on holiday in party of 25 campervans with the Caravan Club from England and have tried to find at least one geocache in each place we have stopped - had a fair amount of luck and the map of New Zealand should show our journey. Thanks to you all for leaving them for us to find.
Great to get this crafty cache after a DNF a couple of years back on our previous visit. Nice hide, TFTC
Went for an early morning walk while on a girlie weekend away in Martinborough to find some caches. This was the first, found quite easily but as previous logs state no log there. Great hide, nearly got blocked! TFTC
Found the cache holder but the actual cache is missing. Nice hide but needs new cache
Found the location and clever hide but no cache. Had someone with me who has previous found the cache and confirmed we had the correct location.
Lovely evening stroll from campsite. Took us a while to search. Also many passing muggles about. Very clever camo indeed. TFTC.
Nearest possible hidey hole to GZ on my i-phone was improbable so widened the search and then quickly foubd it. Nice.
Took us two attempts but got there in the end. Very good camo. Merry Christmas! (p.s swimming in earwigs)
