My daughter came with me on this road trip. Our qualifying finds were

Fermanagh - Deer Oh Dear GC5PCXM
Antrim - Lower Bann Bridges, Carlisle Bridge GC53G3F
Tyrone - The Longest Street GC28Q4Y
Londonderry - Ring Around GC1MYD7
Armagh - Wheely Good No1 GC2PEEN
Down - Clelands Estate GC56M58

It didn't take as long as we thought. We started in Bangor around 845am and made it to Orangefield Park for 330pm with a long stop for lunch at Dungannon. A great day out. Thanks for the idea and the cache.

Well today was the day myself and Yee Haw Got One undertook the FATLAD challenge. I had spied this cache a good while ago and had instantly wanted to complete it.

We started out leaving Londonderry at around 10.15am with visibillity reduced to 10 to 15 meteres as a result of dense fog. We made slow progress on the roads but manged to nab the first two counties, Londonderry and Tyrone very quickly once at GZ.

The fog cleared around lunch time as we were passing through Omagh. And for the rest of our trip we had a glorious day of sunshine and clear skies a perfect Autum day for a Geocaching road trip!

I picked a somewhat odd route compared to some of the cachers have done as they scouted Lough Neagh as it is bordered by a couple of the counties for easy access, but I wanted ones that had been found recently in the last week to be precise to make the task somewhat easier.

We completed all the caches to qualify and then turned our attention to finding this cache also. We found GZ very quickly and soon had the cache retrieved, signed and returned to its hiding hole.

A great days caching and one I would recommend anyone completing! TFTC

A phone call from Peacockealot on Friday 16th saying what plans have you got for tomorrow started us on the FATLAD challenge.

He had already done the research and had kindly kept my dodgy knee in mind and had picked "cache and dash" type caches near to the roads to minimise the distances I had to walk.

We had arranged to meet up at 9.30 am to start our epic journey but in view of the foggy conditions left it until 10.15 hoping that the fog would lift as it had done on the previous couple of days.

Our first cache the shoal art sculpture east was one I had attempted before but was unable to complete due to a muggle sitting there reading her book so I had a good idea where it would be and we quickly found it. On my previous attempt there was a beautiful view up the river Foyle but not on this occasion due to the fog.

The fog cleared as we were passing through Omagh. And for the rest of our trip we had a glorious day of sunshine, warm temperatures (for October) and even had a nice lunch in a small café in Caledon a place I had never visited before. I would recommend taking a flask of tea or coffee with you for this one as by now my caffeine levels were definitely in need of a top up.

When we completed all the caches to qualify we then shot back to find this cache in the hope we would not have a DNF. At this point the GPS signal was bouncing about a bit but thanks to the clue we quickly had the cache found and the log signed.

All in all a great days caching with wonderful scenery and although we covered a large mileage I would recommend this challenge to you all.

Thanks to Peacockealot for his wonderful planning and for doing all the driving.

we hadn't realised that the six counties had to be visited in the one day - we've been to all 6 albeit the only cache we've found in Fermanagh - Fermanagh's First is now archived... not planning to do them all in one day so our signature will only be a find if we lost the plot entirely!
