#18664 - 12:16:00 PM; Day 40 of the European Road Trip and our last day in London, before we take to the skies and head for Singapore this evening. After visiting some of the old buildings in the City of London, we stopped off to gather the required information for this cache, which was on my "to do" list, having already visited the needle in New York some years ago. Interesting history and a fave as well! Answers have been sent to the CO to get the OK.Greetings from Australia and TFTE Heidi Seekers Cool

Tackled this Earthcache with the_second_noel yesterday in between laps of the Tour of Britain cycling race that we were watching next to the needle. Thanks for setting such an interesting Earthcache. I've certainly learnt a lot more about Cleopatra's Needle than I knew before! Answers sent to CO and confirmed as correct. As promised, here is a (close up!) photo of Mark Cavendish from the race to go with the one of Sir Wiggo below! TFTEC!

Waled along the riverside to the needle and started to note things. Another busy place but no problems working out what I thought were the answers. E-mail sent off and response with the all clear received.

Another interesting site in London and on I'm glad we took the effort to walk to after seeing it from the bus.

Thanks for another Heidi Seekers....another fav point as well.

Well done footymadgill for getting a picture of Sir Bradley Wiggins whilst simultaneously completing the cache tasks. If we could we would award a fav point for the picture!

We were in London to watch the final stage of the Tour of Britain cycle race, and it was very interesting to learn about the obelisk, having walked unthinkingly past it many times before. To add to the photos of Cav and Wiggo in previous posts; we'll add one of the afternoon stage race, with the Tour winner Dylan van Baarle in yellow, with Mark Cavendish also in the picture (2nd to last rider in the pic). Thanks for a very informative cache!

This must have been one of the most logged caches in London today.
We too were watching cyclists rushing past and decided to wander up and grab a photo and look for the answers to the questions so here we are..a photo and the answers sent to the CO...fave point for an earthcache...thanks!

Just to be different I wasn't in the area for the Tour of England and Wales. Having arrived at Euston in mid-afternoon I was passing though en route to another earthcache as the barriers were being taken down and soon ascertained the reason.

My late mother took me to most of the major London attractions including Cleopatra's Needle when I was a kid but it's always amazing how earthcaches make me see things in a new light. I enjoyed gathering the information and my email is winging its way to the CO. The picture comes courtesy of a passing English speaking Brit making it easier to explain that my GPSr needed to be in shot Wink.

Thanks for setting this, maybe I'll get to its sister earthcache one day Cool.

Lovely day for a wander around London, impressive structure and caching is certainly making me look more closely at things that I look at but dont really see.

Gathered the information and quickly got ok from the CO.
Here comes the picture (and yes, most likely the orientation is not the correct one - I'll see to that later).

I've been here many times before, but I'd either not noticed the bomb damage before or just forgotten about it. Thanks for bringing me back here and making me look in a different way.

This was our first earthcache, and I think we were much more successful at it than the nearby traditional cache.

Was nice to stop and appreciate the monument, and also the damage which had been done in the war. When back at home and checking that I'd got the right answers I came across a photograph taken just after the bomb had hit which really made me stop and think.

Found with alxndr, on a day out in London with a muggle friend.

A great site in which you can just stop and appreciate the history, design and architecture.
Thanks for bringing us along here

I was visiting London today on a trip where I planned to collect my 8000th cache and several special, rare (and old) caches too. This was a very interesting Earthcache which brought me somewhere I wouldn't otherwise have visited and showed me something I might otherwise have ignored. Just what the game is all about. Back home, I sent the info to the CO and received a prompt reply with permission to log. TFTEC.
