Archving the event - I have a photo of the signed log book if anyone that attended wanted a copy of it.

A lovely morning for an event and a goodly gathering of cachers here today too. As ever it was nice to catch up with people as well as enjoy a coffee around the corner afterwards.

Many thanks to The Monkey King for organising it.

As I approached my 10,000th find I started to look at which cache I would make my milestone find on. The event here today was perfect, not too far from home and an early morning event as well. The problem was I was still 21 caches short to make this number 10,000 so at around 1:00am I started my mission to find those elusive 21 caches. By 4:15 am I had accomplished my mission and when I crawled into bed I was siting on 9,999 finds.

My alarm went off all too soon but I was very excited all the same. Slamming down some toast and juice I soon hit the road, heading for Langy. I parked the car and headed to the the event site and soon discovered I was the only one there. Dam - did I read the date wrong and a quick check showed I was here, at least on the correct date. I needn't have worried as shortly afterwards fellow cachers started to turn up, more and more until there was quite a gathering.

A big congrats to the Monkey King on his first event and the turn out was very impressive with quite a few managing to fulfill their 7 souvenirs of August (including myself) challenge as well. It was great to catch up with and meet so many cachers, regulars and newbies, and some that had even traveled from quite afar.

A big thanks to the Monkey King and it was great to meet and chat with you.

Yes we made it! It was quite an effort however we managed to get there after a two hour drive. It was nice to meet new as well as "old" geocaching teams despite the time we had being brief. Thanks Monkey King for your organisation and the enjoyment of the meet.

Having attended another event at the other end of this month I already had my august souvenir however Romp62 Had not and with conflicting work schedules and other commitments it turned out that this was the just about the only event he could get to. I had agreed to attend with him however with my wife at work I had my two daughters tagging along. So it worked out good that the change of venue moved us beside a playground as it helped to keep the kids busy so I could mingle a little. While I didn't get to meet everyone it was good to put some more faces to names plus catch up with some cachers I'd met previously. Thanks the monkey king it was great to meet you!

Even tho I had already obtained all my "7 Souvenirs of August" a couple of weeks back, an event is always fun, so I logged the "Will attend" anyway. It was great to see so many people early on a saturday morning, both newbies and regulars.

Thanks to the Monkey King for the event and for the Bison Tube. Big Grin

I arrived at the event a few minutes early, and there were already a couple of other cachers there, but no host. It brought back memories of an event that the host didn't attend, some years ago. Fortunately, this time, he did arrive, and the proceedings got under way. It was good to meet some new cachers, and to catch up with some old ones. It was a great launcing place to go caching afterwards.

Thanks to the Monkey King for organising your first event.

I'm happy for Laker63 to complete her 7 Souvenirs of August which I already last week.
Good to see everyone in the morning.
After that we go to Red Hill trails.
Thanks for the bison and event.

Being my first time to host an event and to attend an event I was a bit nervous, but the weather was lovely for a late winters day, and it was great to finally meet some geocachers!

It was awesome to be able to discuss the hobby with others that don't stare at you blankly when you mention geocaching.

Many thanks to all that attended, and hopefully I can learn a few things from my first hosting to improve on an event next time.

My first ever Event! Was nice to meet you all. Very good turn out of nice friendly people! Even scored a bison tube! Thanks for helping me finish off my Souvenirs!

We were not sure if we would be able to attend an event this early as it was Marks 60th birthday party last night and our heads were a bit on the tender side. Glad we did make it, the weather was perfect, it was good to catch up with old friends and it always great meet some newer players so as to put faces to names we have seen around the place.
You certainly went the extra mile with the gifts for those who logged a will attend, should be more new caches coming out soon. Smile
Many thanks The Monkey King for organising this event and the great weather to boot, which we made the most of it and spent the rest of the day caching with Alansee, Muzza and The Coffees.

Big thanks to Monkey King for hosting the event today. An awesome turnout with fantastic weather. This was my first event and it was great to meet and enjoy the tales of others. I don't think I got around to everyone this time, but hopefully next event! Thanks to those that were able to pass on some tips and suggest some great hides to try.

Thanks heaps the Monkey King for the event.

It was a spur of the moment for us attending, we knew the event was on, but we were very doubtful we could attend.
But all The Planets aligned & we were Good to go.
Glad we made it to your first ever event, a good turn out in a foggy Melbourne morning.

11-Aug-14
Sounds too good to be true Smile
So you are saying that those who attend will obtain all 7 souvenir, how does it work?

11-Aug-14
@mymonster - no, you need to obtain the five other souvenirs still. An evencache will give you one of the six you need to claim the 7th.

Most people with have five out of six before attending this event, and by attending this event they will get the 6th and then the 7th at the same time by logging this one.

So if you haven't chased up the other five souvenirs by the 30th, please do Smile

11-Aug-14
Please note the change of co-ords for this event and the updated description and the addition of a waypoint.

11-Aug-14
Coordinates changed from:
S 38° 08.490 E 145° 12.479

Coordinates changed to:
S 38° 08.433 E 145° 12.425

Distance from original: 432.2 feet or 131.7 meters.
As I didn't except so many to turn up, I have had to move the event location a hundred metres or so to a park behind the original location to accommodate every one indicating they will attend, and to not upset the local store owners and shoppers.

The original co-ords are now a waypoint for cachers to buy coffee or breakfast before taking a short walk to the rear of the shopping centre where there is a park with seats.

I also have a event trackable for people to find at the event.

10-Aug-14
Planning on being there to get all seven for August. Thanks for organising.

10-Aug-14
thanks

09-Aug-14
Thanks for organising this event. Looking forward to it.

03-Aug-14
Will be there and hope to bring along two others

03-Aug-14
Great!! Thanks for holding this, especially at the end of Aug so we can collect all our souvenirs!

03-Aug-14
I think I will be able to get to this one.

02-Aug-14
I have a cache container to give away on the day - a 'first aid kit box' that I purchased from Daiso in Melbourne.

I am not sure how I will determine the winner yet, but I am thinking of putting each person's name that attends in a bison tube and drawing one from the box.

The box can be seen in the gallery for the event, and it is 15 x 9cm x 6 cm

I am also thinking of giving a bison tube to each person attending the event, up to the first twenty to log a 'will attend' on the unlikely chance that more than twenty come along.

29-Jul-14
I will attend Smile
Awesome a local event!!!!!
Just hope the boys baseball doesn't get in the way, may have to drop him off and then come to show my ugly face...... Hehe
