Heading out for a lovely family day out exploring some of the area, made our way here, TFTC and the fun
Im on another adventure and this year Im going to have Christmas on an island, Tasmania . Ive visited the island in the cooler months and now its time to explore it in the warmer months.Time out, its been a big drive from Adelaide and now its bedtime. My home away from home is in the back of the Ute, my reliable sway, so tonight I get to stargaze, smell the sweet smell of freshly cut straw and listen to the hum of the headers in the distance before nodding off. TFTC Tyred n CrankyKeep smiling
Our last full day in St Arnaud for this trip so we decided to go for a quick run west to look at some silo art and collect a few caches along the way. This one was a quick find with good coordinates. TFTC
Found by Aussie Train Driver 17/07/2023.
This should have been a quick find but I missed the cache the first time I looked at the hiding spot. The cache blended in very well and I think I was a bit distracted by the family of wolf spiders I had just disturbed
After scouring the surrounding area I had another look in the first spot and spotted the cache, along with a large red back spider!
Cache was extracted safely with a stick. The log book was wet but I was still able to sign.
Thanks for the opportunity to break up the drive!

On our way to the Mega with shop in tow. After an overnight stop in Marnoo where we narrowly escaped a rather large Fallen branch just in front of the car (That would have made a fair noise but we didn't hear it!...There's a joke in there somewhere,,) we made our way to St Arnaud for a spot of Breakky and found a few on the way..A Thankfully quick find amongst the insane amount of mozzies!! TFTC
We are on our maiden voyage in our caravan but have stayed close to home and the dealer in case we have any teething problems.
Had to make a trip from St Arnaud to Horsham today to purchase a new mask for my CPAP. A Sunday repair job with super glue and gorilla tape just didn't do the job.
We took time out now the weather has cleared to find your cache

The other car headed out the moment I arrived and so I had the place to myself. Cache was quickly found and TBs were swapped. No water in the Avon today. Thanks for getting me to stop here T&C.
We took some time out to find this one. A little out of the way but hey, we found it. A good rest spot. I did not break into verse...

Found during a trip to St Arnaud to attend the 2019 Victorian Mega event. The weekend was spent primarily with e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo, and gridge98 as we geocached around the vicinity of St Arnaud. All of the events and CITOs were attended, we completed the available adventure labs and lab caches available at the showgrounds, many of the creative trails were gasped at their construction, and interesting puzzles were solved and collected during the weekend.
We all left on Thursday in two separate cars, and met up at the evening event, before finding a camp spot for the night in a very CITO location. On Friday, we targeted the StARS (St Arnaud Ramble Series) and the higher quality, well-constructed geocaches that were famous here in St Arnaud, and got lucky with the 2019 published series that we managed to snag FTFs on. Sunday had us continuing to find the other sets of high-quality caches around the neighbouring town parks, the challenge series, before spending a few hours at geocaching HQ participating in the labs that had been published. The event was also great to see some of the South Australians honoured with geocaching life awards (in amongst everyone on the list). Our final day, Sunday, had us do a big loop finishing off our geocache collection, driving all the way out to Kooreh and around via Stuart Mill, walking the conservation park at Mount Gowar, and finishing off at the GIFF event. A massive weekend that turned out to be a great mega! Thanks to all those who organised the Mega and the associated events. The variety between the local high-quality caches, the new series placed by the mega team, and those who needed to be around for the labs and main centre fielding questions was appreciated immensely.
Today with our final day in St Arnaud, we went east and south focusing on some of the *Original Road* series, and the various geocaches that were placed along these routes. Once we did a loop through Stuart Mill, we did a final drive around the town vicinity, performed a hike around Mount Gowar, and then attended the final GIFF event. From there, we went separate ways from e.gregory1 and FeatherWaite, and made our way towards Horsham for the evening. This cache was found along the way as we detoured through the back roads. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Tyred n Cranky for placing and maintaining this cache.

Today we completed our letterbox bingo and gathered all bar one of the remaining far and wide bingo but a mistake was made in obtaining the information and this caused the miss if only well it was all good in the end with a win for the team with the FAR and Wide Bingo thanks to all those caches for placing caches large enough for placing the stamps in.
Impression 23 this was a great spot however we had no time for a time out today as the day was ticking on by and it was a realization that the final cache location was incorrect and we would not have time to collect all 25 impressions however this would be our 2nd last impression and it was very enjoyable to make the find at GZ
Thanks Tyred n Cranky for another great spot to collect a smiley.

Here in St Arnaud for the Mega event we had a great day caching and exploring the roads less travelled.
Cache and contents were in good condition.

After St Arnuad, Freddo, Davidwazza and myself took off for Horsham, we stopped at some caches along the way, all the caches were quick finds and in good order
What a big trip this was! I headed over to St Arnaud for the 2019 Victorian mega with e.gregory1, Davidwazza, Featherwaite and Freddo for the long weekend.
The weekend was filled with a lot of finds ranging in puzzles, a few events and some very well constructed hides around the area.
Day 1: I headed over with e.gregory1 and featherwaite, with the aim to collect some unfound LGAs for the guys, with only a 500km drive to the mega from home we added an extra 450km to the trip by going over to Bendigo and further south exploring some regional towns, overall we added an extra 6 LGAs with only 18 finds for the day. Was great to see some of the interesting little towns and what they had to offer for future visits.
Day 2: As a group we hit the trails in St Arnaud as a group signing the logbooks as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Freddo, featherwaite and gridge98) to save a lot of room in the logbook. We started off with the geoart Stars and thought it would take most of the day, as we finished it in 2.5 hours we were a bit surprised so hit the well constructed caches in the south of the town in the bush throwing a CITO in the mix. All the caches were amazing and something you don’t see anywhere else. Adding in 15 FTFs along the way with: everlasting, crank1 and Pwola. The evening settled in and we headed into town for a buffet dinner and a catch up with some familiar faces.
Day 3:
After attending the GV2020 event for the morning we set off to hit the last of the trails left in town of the metal containers, followed by the challenges for the mega as well as quite a few trads around the back roads. We ended the day by having a go at the lab caches at the mega then off to the CITO. I don't think I have ever seen so mant people at a tip before. Topped off the day with an evening event.
Day 4: By today the town was almost cleaned out and only a few caches to find, so we did the last few caches within a rough 15km radius driving around finding the odd cache here and there. The GIFF was finished off the mega so we decided to head to Horsham for the evening.
Day 5: After leaving our camp site for the morning, we cached for the morning around Horsham collecting a few grads and a well earned swim. Then made the long drive back home to Adelaide.
Thanks to all the COs for their cache placements and the Geocaching Victoria crew for organising a fantastic weekend away.

There was a lot of water laying around the area when we arrived. However that did not pose any difficulties getting to the cache. Accurate coordinates and a logical hide led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Tyred n Cranky for the cache.
After completing the StARS series with Robmc PCprass and Betty Boo we took the long road home and collected a few more
A lovely spot and still looking a bit soggy after all the rain.

#16287. Day 3 in St Arnaud for Robmc and me and today it's time to add smilies to the StARS puzzles. We have been joined by The Morris and pprass. As we travelled around the countryside we gathered a few more smiles along the way. An extra 13 caches in fact. As mentioned over the past few days it is so nice to see lush green paddocks and roadsides as we drive the roads less travelled.
A quick find here and a walk of the dog and we continued on our way.

Day three at St Arnaud with BettyBoo3747. Today we were joined by The Morris and pprass.
We started the morning with a trip to the Bakery for much need coffee and pastries.
This allowed the temperature to more than double! (from 3 to 7 degrees)
We started the day with the StARS series.
By lunchtime it had hit a scorching 11 degrees, and was a lovely day.
We spent the afternoon doing other caches around the area.
A really nice picnic area by the river.
I wish we had come here for lunch.
Thanks, Robmc.

Driving around checking on some of our caches and dropping off a few trackables.
Found on our weekend to St Arnaud to attend the local events. After having found the new series it was time to head out of town a bit to collect some finds that we had not done in previous years. We took some time out to do some rank amateur photography of some nearby flowers. TFTC Tyred n Cranky
Day 4 of my latest road trip through undiscovered regions in Vic and SA. Started a wet morning in Swanhill but the clouds dispersed and made way for blue skies and sunshine for most of the day until I reached Horsham where the rain started again, off and on to St Arnaud where I lay my head for the night.
A total of 27 trads today.
#20 A quick find here and pleasantly surprised to find a couple of TB's in residence. Signed log and swapped 2 of mine for the 2 found inside.
Thanks Tyred n Cranky

Since moving from New Zealand in 2016 I have been enjoying the area, exploring and finding caches.
So far I’ve knocked off 4 of the states. VIC, SA, NSW and A.C.T all multiple times.
No two areas are the same here and almost every place I go to is stunning. The beauty of caching is that it takes you to so many places you would never usually find.
Thank you to all the cachers out there for hiding and maintaining their caches. Especially to those who put so much effort into creating unique and fun hides.
I enjoy finding well maintained caches in fun and unique cache containers. No one likes finding a mint tin – but a find is a find after all.
Well she was an American girl
Raised on promises
She couldn't help thinkin' that there
Was a little more to life
Somewhere else
After all it was a great big world
With lots of places to run to
Yeah, an d if she had to die
Tryin' she had one little promise
She was gonna keep
Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl
It was kind of cold that night
She stood alone on her balcony
She could the cars roll by
Out on 441
Like waves crashin' in the beach
And for one desperate moment there
He crept back in her memory
God it's so painful
Something that's so close
And still so far out of reach
Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night

Left St Arnaud earlish to get a few find up while the road traffic would be quieter. Found this cache and others on todays run. All caches well in working condition when found. TFTC.
This morning I awoke and decided I needed to get out and about. The Silo Art Trail sounded like a plan in the making. Departing from home at 1030, I grabbed a few on the way up to Rupanyip and after a total of 650 kms and 10 hours I had amassed a grand total of 18 cache finds for the day. Not a good ratio of caches to kms but it was a fabulous day out.
I really enjoyed viewing the silo art and would recommend it to all as a must do.
Thanks Tyred n Cranky for placing this cache.

After two days of caching with pprass he had to head back to Melbourne for Family commitments, I decided to do a couple more days caching in the area this was day three of my caching tour of the area, today I did a fare amount of driving as I wanted to pick up a few caches to finish an LGA polygon challenge cache. Thanks Tyred n Cranky for the cache.

Here on our annual pilgrimage to the St Arnaud event weekend. We arrived yesterday and this morning we decided to explore to the south west and west of town.
After a lunch break at Marnoo, we started heading back towards town. When we pulled into this lovely little stopover spot, there was a muggle enjoying his time out. We thought we might not be able to look for this cache today so instead we walked over to look at the Avon River and to note how high it rose in last week's floods. By the time we had done this, the muggle got back in his car and drove away, so we were able to find the cache unhindered. Left a Relay For Life trophy travelbug. TFTC Tyred N Cranky.

We took a quick stop to stretch our legs and grab this one. A lovely little spot, even in the late afternoon winter sun. Dropped a TB that we've had far too long. Thanks for the hide.

Driving home involves a long drive and lots of caches and all up, between the first cache find at 8.38am and the last cache find at 00.36am the following day I found 36 caches and only had 1 DNF at a cache that we already presumed to be missing
We had a blast finding caches by The Old Blokes around the area and vowed that we Must come back to find more, they are so good! [^]
Muggle partner kindly drove up to meet GoodLook and I at the bottom of the freeway at about 2.30am so that she didn't have to drive for another 2 hours in order to get me home [^]
Unless mentioned otherwise, please know that your cache and log book was in good condition.
Time out from driving sounded like a great idea especially when there is a cache to find
It was lovely taking time out and caching with Mrs Tyred n Cranky over the weekend too [^]

I loved your caches first time I was in this part of the country (a month ago), and this one was no different.
One of many stops whilst on a road trip from Adelaide to Heathcote, Victoria. The aim of our trip was to complete the Dad's Mt. Disappointment Driving Lessons power trail, attend a couple of events across the border and reach my 1000th caching milestone with friends. It was an early start and a long drive but we ate awesome food, drank amazing wine, engaged in scintillating conversations - there was plenty of laughter and lots of fun!! [^]
PLEASE NOTE: given the size of our group and our time constraints, in some logs we just put our caching initials (eg. GL).
Thanks for the cache Tyred n Cranky

Found on a 3 days tour of Victoria.
The team had a great time finding all but 5 of the caches we attempted.
A great time was had by us and thanks to all who placed caches/
Apologies for the generic logs.

Lunchtime caching. My favourite.
This cache was found using a Garmin GPSr, Montana 650t, Oregon 550 or Dakota 20. Waypoints and paperless geocaching downloaded via GSAK 8.

Off with the frog and friends for a weekend's caching in Victoria.
This was one of our many stops along the way.
