Logs
Checked CAW #1 out today - perfectly in place, waiting for the next person to find it.
I come to Mangrove Mountain once a year, and today's the day.I know I have the correct co-ordinates, checked with the CO some years ago and a recent finder who gave no clues on where to look or what to look for. I spent 30 minutes searching at GZ but couldn't find anything. Very disappointed.
While working up in the CC, venturing west for a few caches.I honestly had a different GZ and this was why the no find. Quite a distance from my gz but we had CIH, thanks shockers
Spent an hour in the bush, no checker, idk if I had the correct coords now. Anyway enjoyed the shortish walk off the fire trail
Maybe it was the hangover, maybe it was my calcs, couldn't make this one work today
We solved this puzzle a while ago, and today we had a chance to stop by and search for the cache.
The first few places we looked at based on the hint yielded nothing so we moved slightly further afield and spotted the hide on our approach. A quick check and we soon had our names in the logbook.
Thanks for the Cache.

Well I was not the best Altar Boy ever, so I wasn’t surprised when my solved coords didn’t result in a find. Mystery caches without a checker always make me nervous. So I just got my logic on and using the clue and CO maintenance logs I was able to make the find. TFTC!
Solved the puzzle years ago. Today was the day to find it.
There was water inside de container and logbook was totally wet, so the previous finders disappeared, if there was any on it. I dried the container while the logbook was drying on the hot surface of my car. With today’s weather it was pretty quick! I prepared a piece of plastic to put before the lid, but it was yellow...., it would stand out, so I just placed with the lid up to minimize the chance to get wet inside again.
Thanks Shockers for placing CAW #1!

Been nearly 2 years since i DNF this one. Back in the area, with the main intention of clearing my 30K radius, which, most of these along this road, are on the extremity. TFTC.
We've replaced the container with one which is, hopefully, more waterproof. A new log has also been added. Please replace the container as found - thank you.
Not too hard to find and clearly there has been some burning around here. Unfortunately though the new log was already quite moist, which is a shame as I wouldn't have thought moisture could have gotten inside so easy. But I did my best to add my name in the driest part of the log, and then replaced as found. TFTC!
The original location for this cache was burnt when the fire brigades put containment lines in to prevent the spread of the mega fire (Gospers Mountain Fire and the Three Mile Fire) during December 2019.
We have now put in a replacement cache which we hope you will enjoy.
We have now put in a replacement cache which we hope you will enjoy.
Unfortunately the fires and back-burns in this area have caused the demise of quite a few caches. CAW #1 is but one of them.
We will reinstate this cache as soon as the threat of bushfires in our region is over.

Did the numbers ages ago and found with MummyPenny on the way home from a bit of climbing around Spencer today. Thanks Shockers.
I always like caches using this ingredient, thanks Shockers.
A good ending to a lovely sunny drive around Spencer.

Had solved this one with Trodectus a few days ago, as we were haeding past to get to camping ground, we dtoured and parked near GZ and then walked to co-ords. After a bit of searching, we came up with the find. Log signed and returned. TFTC
Solved and found with Coybear2000. We had a look at this one a week ago, knowing we'd be in the area this weekend. We took a short detour to get to this one, we parked nearby, walked to GZ and started our search. After a short while, C read the hint and we spotted the hide. Log signed and all replaced and we got back on our way. TFTC.
Solved on my way up to Central Mangrove with my son for a walk in Dubbo Gully. Made a quick find on the way home this afternoon.

The support structure is broken. Cache is still retrievable but might be worth a check.
Was in the area today to attend a workshop on Planting Linear Corridors run by the Local Land Services.
Our second DNF heading home. Both Unknowns.
I did all the searching last night, but with no checker, I was a little wary when I searched the new co-ords with google earth. We had a little trip into the surrounding bush, but the trail petered out pretty quick, and didn't think we would have to bush bash through that.
Is that a house right there? There were quite a few cars in the car park, and we did not want to answer questions about what we were doing, so we bugged out. Will need to revisit co-ords, and might PAF.
Thanks anyway.
Did not find with madrabbitoh.

Travelling to Sydney from Brisbane and having stayed in Cessnock last night, I was looking forward to today's caches. What a great concept for this cache - wasn't expecting that! Giving a FP for the idea of the setup. TFTC Shockers
We had solved this one a long while ago. As we were in the area we decided to go looking for the cache. Spotted it from the right angle after a few minutes of circling around.

Solved the puzzle ages ago and again before I left to be sure. Had a bit of a walk around but nothing grabbed my eye. I don’t understand the clue so may go back out when the muggles aren’t around.
Worked out coords before I left Sydney this morning. Took me straight to GZ where I unhooked the catch/cache. Nice little puzzle taking me to a nice little church. And 12 months unloved too! TFTC
We took the opportunity of a beautiful sunny autumn day to carry out some maintenance on our CAW series today.
The log has been replaced, ready for the next clever cacher.

Solve this a long ago took the time today to collect it while giving son a driving lesson

Found with BillHill531 on a day trip geocaching. Recently I found a challenge cache requiring difficulty two terrain four caches, but I was a couple short of logging it, so today's trip was to rectify that. We ended up finding three of these combinations, as well as a new unique placed month and a bunch of other bonus ones. It was a fairly warm day, but somehow we did more driving then walking, so managed to stay fairly cool. We found all eight caches we looked for.
This was our sixth stop. I had solved this one a while back. It was a little trickier then I expected. BillHill pulled up the car 130m BEFORE the cache, so we got to do a bush walk, like all real caches should. Doesn't matter we popped out in the open, we made this a real cache! The container itself actually took a little while to spot. But we got there.
Thanks for the nice bush walk, little puzzle and cache!

Found with TOMBI!, he is trying to get his numbers up on D2T4 caches for the d24t Challenge so we headed to Calga and worked our way up to Wollomby and managed about 8 caches of which 3 where D2T4. TOMBI! had solved the puzzle, and managed to pull up before the GZ, We walked through the bush track to GZ, and thanks for the hint, I found the cache. TFTC

Meeting a friend for lunch in Umina so took the morning to explore around the Mangrove area. This was the fifth find for the day. I had done the calculations some time ago probably with the help of my friend Mr G. Arrived today to find myself parked a little further away than I would have liked but made a quick find to make up for it.

This was a nice easy puzzle to solve as we have the book which holds all the answers and so there was no problem finding the correct numbers. The cache itself was a quick find and was also quickly retrieved. Thank you to the Shockers for placing a cache that needed a bit of easy research.
Worked this one out a couple of weeks ago but never got around to finding it then. Today we returned to the area and found several caches that we missed last time, this being one of them. TFTC!

On my way home after finding some nearby caches . I had solved the puzzle last night and after reading some previous logs, I had a pretty good idea of what I was looking for . I found the cache without to much walking and didn't have anytrouble with retrieval. Thanks for the clever cache Shockers tnln sl
30/4/16. 3:53 PM. Cache #3801.
2nd of 5 finds (+ 3 DNFs) today - Cowan, Somersby, Mangrove Mountain.
I had finally got my first smiley for the day at "Whether the Weather ..." and then was going to continue caching south from there. I checked this and saw that I had solved the GZ coordinates some time ago (can't remember when) and had stored the waypoint. This was just as well because the phone reception required for googling the answers up here wasn't crash hot.
I made my way to GZ and instantly saw what I had been expecting to see, thanks to the hint. A bit of stretching and pushing and then I had cache in hand. The log was damp, but signable - I could manage a basic "KRS". After replacing as found, I continued on to "CAW #2". TFTC.

Solved this one ages ago and finally got around to claiming it today. A clever hide which I walked past twice before I saw it. TNLN TFTC
The owner encouraged me to solve this one when I checked the coordinates for the one closer to home. That was just after publication. I finally made the tricky hide thanks to accurate coordinates.

We spent the day in the area finding more of the nearby Classic Motorbike series after visiting the Wollimbi Markets on this lovely and sunny public holiday. This was one of the thirty-three that we found.
We worked out the coordinates last night. It was a quickish find once we spotted something...the log book is very wet.

A puzzle (for once) which was a really quick solve. On hot sunny day mrnoo17 and I decided to go camping and stopped off to find this one on the way.
A very clever hide. Thanks
A very clever hide. Thanks
An excellent little hide which proved to be much more satisfying than our dnf at #11. A little nudge and we had the CIH. TFTC!!!!
We must have made a big boo boo with our calculations. We had no idea where it could be. We did however spot a cute furry creature in a hollow log.
With a break in weather today we decided to try our luck with a number of caches we were yet to find in the mangrove mountain area, it also gave us an opportunity to test a new gps we had purchased thanks for the cache shockers and a good series which takes you to all the places you might never see or know where even there SLTNLN
Common sense says to double check everything when you do an unknown/puzzle....but the thing about common sense is, it really isn't that common....luckily for me though, Opa-Bob suggested an outing in the area, and including this on the hit-list giving me another crack at it. I'd already done the puzzle, so all was good in the world....but then the voices told me to do the puzzle again. And so I did. And low and behold, with much more thoroughness given to the process this time round, I found myself with new coordinates....today we arrived on site - 2 ladies were chatting outside the church, so we pulled up on the far side and set the devices to go - OpaBob had the same coords I did on my previous search, so it was time to see whose answers were correct - I went one way, he went the other, and in not too much time at all I spotted what I had been expecting to find all along! Score! Thanks for the challenge, cache and hide Shockers - Good one

After a brief respite while I did a couple of Shockers' other nearby hides, MUmma-Kel and I resumed our CAW mission at this one.
I had worked out the puzzle and got coords for GZ last night, as had Mumma-Kel, and I was surprised when I saw her heading off in a different direction to me. As I walked in the direction of the church from where we parked, two women came out forcing me to dally (smartphones really are handy GPS and dallying devices) while they chatted. Meanwhile, Mumma-Kel had disappeared into the bush and soon, before I even had a chance to check my area, I heard a cry of huckle buckle. Heading over to her, I quickly spied the cache and we set to work pulling in the catch. Once in hand, logging duties were performed and the "fish" were thrown back ready for someone else to try their hand at fly fishing.
Thanks, Shockers, for a great hide that was just a little different to the norm and which I thoroughly enjoyed. It's my favourite one, thus far.

I wandered around GZ chasing the GPS when MrsFish spotted something different. Retrieval was not easy with previous finders making things difficult, but all seems OK now. Thanks to Shockers for a really good hide, this was a bit different and a lot of fun with a bit of a challenge for the coordinates.
Found it. nearly gave up after the GPS wasn't getting a good read.
Nice hide. Thanks

Found it with one half of hens and roosters.
sorry Mr&MrsFish, I'm sure we put it back pretty much as we found it.

Back working in the area again today, I managed to grab this one from the series after work.
Its been a real eye-opener for myself as to how many religious places there are up here on the mountain. Not exactly confident about GZ, and having the light fading fast I bee-lined for the hide. Hmmm around and around we go....
Almost about to run for the flash light and I spotted the container.
My favorite of the series, glad I did it last and not first.
Having already driven past most of them it's been great to fill in the places that I didn't know about.

Solved the puzzle easily enough, but walked around and around in circles here for around 20min before giving up hope, with no cache found....as I drove away it dawned on me what I probably should have been looking for, so I will be back again for this one. Thanks for the hunt Shockers.
