The "down low almost under" place where it obviously should be has been used as a toilet. Dnf, even after digging around with a stick.
Found quickly as it was lying openly on the ground, but still in fine condition. I replaced where I thought it should have been.
25 years ago I used to come out this way for work. Back in the mountains today and thought we would come and check out this area, this was a nice easy find after going to the gates at Kedumba Pass.

Found while out and about with Geoson on a moist, foggy day. A place with a sad but interesting history. GZ appears to be a toilet site for some. Used plenty of sanitizer. Tftc
I did find this a few weeks ago but forgot to log! Parenting duties called....Easy find. I must admit i would love to explore the old hospital grounds.....shame about the abestos. TFTC!
Beautiful day for caching in the mountains. Nice area to explore! Quick easy find ️

As the ladies went shopping, the boys went caching, well really trigging this morning. Five trig points out here, without a huge amount of walking kept the team enthused. We did freeze though, 6 degree air temp, with a very brisk wind gave a zero-ish wind chill, so we were glad of generally quick finds, but did wish I'd bought my gloves!
Good coords put us right at the hide, no problems, and the interior nice and dry too. We never did spot the old hospital! TFTC!

Passed by this one last night during the UTA100 race but decided I didn’t need to add any extra meters to the total. Back again today checking out the area in daylight so decided to make a smiley of it.
Parked beside it and spotted quickly.

Easy little park and grab this time as it our second attempt. The cache is in good condition, signed and replaced. Thanks for replacing the cache
A familiar spot as a starting point for some running events I’ve done. Nice spot sprinkled with lots of rubbish. Replaced camo.

Cache replaced. Unsure of whether it is on private property. If so, will move later.
Based on last logs we weren’t too hopeful. Area around is indeed full of inconsiderate muggles.
Maybe not there, but we set off cameras and a caretaker came to tell us we were on private property!
We spent a considerable time on this one and think that it may now be missing. Even phoned Geobrother who has claimed the cache in the past. Judging by the amount of tiolet paper lying about, the area is inhabited by inconsiderate people some of whom may be muggles. Suggest a check by CO to see if it's still okay.
First time we visited, couldn’t see it anywhere! Months later came back to pick mushrooms and my daughter saw it. Thanks
Stopped by to look for this one as I was walking right by it on my way to McMahons Lookout.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Found this one before starting a walk to pick up "Jamison Traverse", "Kedumba" and "Hospital Pass".

I was heading bush for the weekend to refresh my soul. Only three potential caches to collect enroute, this being the first. An easy find to get me going.

Beautiful Blue Mountains day for caching. Found with Cckabbabs. Thanks for the history. Have always wanted to know more about the Queen Victoria hospital.
In Katoomba to walk from Jenolan to Katoomba along the six foot track. A day early so completing a few caches around the area before getting a bus to Jenolan. TFTC.
We had come out to the Blue Mountains for a day drive to explore a bit. On the way in we got sidetracked for a bit when we saw a market on in Lawson. I just love those car boot / flea markets where there are all sorts of treasures to be found.
Eventually we were on the King's Tableland track down to McMahons Viewpoint. I had loaded the caches in the area, but this time I had done it via my laptop, and for some reason this cache was not appearing on my GPSr. Fortunately, I could find it on my phone so I added it for the return journey.
At the lookout we spent quite some time just admiring the views. While we were staring down at the lake I heard the sound of a plastic bottle as it hit the rocks to my right: a miscreant behind me had decided to throw her empty drink bottle into the bush! I'm not usually very vocal in my complaints, but today I just couldn't help letting rip about taking one's rubbish home and disposing of it properly. I don't think the person understood much English, but I think she got the message from my tone and glare. What is it with people who think it's ok to mess up the environment with their junk!
When we eventually got back to the cache area near the old hospital we noticed the lovely spot where one could chill out a bit. Several cyclists were packing up their bikes after a morning on the trails. Fortunately, they were closer to the road and preoccupied with their bikes, so it was easy to search for the container. It didn't take long to locate the box. I completed the signing duties and added one of my signature small wire dogs before returning the cache and adding camo to conceal it well.
We had originally planned on visiting the Ingar day- and campsite where we could have our picnic. However, we were thwarted by a large gate/fence at the end of the tar road before even hitting the trail. Seems there is some private development going on and this trail crosses this private land now. How disappointing.
Thus, we returned to the cache area and had our picnic under the pine trees. What a lovely place, even if it was and ad hoc second prize in our plans for the day. Afterwards, we decided to drive past the hospital on the Kedumba Valley Road. It's rather eerie seeing these closed down hospitals, all derelict, like something out of a horror movie. Just think of the irony: sending TB patients to convalesce in this beautiful environment, and inadvertently killing them with asbestos instead.
We parked outside the Bonanza-style gates and had a quick look at the signboards from where various hikes into the valley start. I think I'd like to do a hike across the valley sometime, but I think perhaps next year in the autumn or spring.
While I was reading some information, I struck up a conversation with a lone hiker who had just completed a hike from Katoomba over two days. He was engrossed looking at the map of the area, and when I asked him whether he needed a lift back to civilisation, he gladly accepted. It would have been a walk of several kilometres back to town.
Turns out the chap was a locum doctor, specialising in emergency medicine. We had a great chat all the way back to Parramatta where we dropped him off at the train station so he could get back to Sydney.
All in all a great day out, even if I picked up only a single cache for the entire trip.
