Starting the afternoon off down this track to gather some caches. Quick find. TFTC
Grabbed another as we got closer to the Wax Gardens. Convenient find, and doesn't look like it was fire affected in any way. TFTC FUF009.
Our second full day at St Arnaud so with no real plans we tackled a few challenge caches, ad labs, fire track series plus many others. Impressed with all caches found today. Love the area and know now our visit here will be too short.Arrived at GZ and soon had the cache in hand - all good here.TFTC FUF009#9534
We have spent a delightful day meandering in the bush around St Arnaud. We began with this series this morning before it was too hot. With just one car, Mrs Domsky was dropped at the start of the the series and gradually walked along the fire firetrail, while Mr Domsky drove to the end, and gradually made his way back in the car, stopping to search from the other end. It was a lot of fun walking along the fire Trail, and taking short detours into the bushland to find this series. After completing the first group, and having collected numbers and letters along the way, we sat in the cool of the air-conditioned car to put the numbers together for the final. This series was so much fun and we say a big thank you to FUF009 for the adventure today Domsky
TFTC! 30 September 2023 10:11:13 am 6041Thanks for the cache! Another quick find!
Went for a drive out around Fire Break Track (FBT) to do routine maintenance on caches in the series.
Replaced wet log book and dried cache out.

Another run around the area, this time on the Fire Break Series. Once again some great containers with lots work going into them, so few fav points to be added.

A quick find along this trail here today.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks for placing this geocache here for us to find today, for without those who like to hide geocaches, there would be nothing around for those who like to find geocaches.

Unfortunately this one wasn't closed in the bag, full of water. Unable to sign. Needs a new log book. And no puzzle piece
My plan of attack today for these caches was the Combo walk drive to get the best of both worlds with the van easy find beautiful morning nice bushland.
We spent a about 10 days on the road with aqau caching around St Arnaud, Ballarat and Daylesford areas.

Catching up on logging. We spent a week in Adelaide catching up with family and then headed to St Arnaud via the Silos south of the Mallee Highway arriving in St Arnaud last night. So today we are off to explore the street art and caches around the town. We have been aiming to get back here since the Mega in 2019 where we were able to catch a few of the trails but of course not all. After lunch we set off to this trail here. The plan was to do No 8 then cross over the road and do 7-1. However when we got here the road was closed for 7-1!! We did No 8 then drove around to the other end to see if it was accessible and if so how far we could get before finding the blockage from the other side. It was still open at this end so we continued on. This was also a nice easy find and completed this section of the trail. Just after where we parked for this one we could see an area that a couple of days earlier would not have been passable by our 2WD, the remains of the puddle was passable but you could see where it had been much bigger and hence the road closure.

I found GC5A53G FBT07 - Fire Tower on 20 Sept 2022 at 11:01 am and it is find number 1,911 for me. I enjoyed finding this nice traditional cache as part of my tour of the St Arnaud area.
I apologise for this generic log today but i have set myself a twenty four hour challenge to see how many caches I can log and time is of the essence. This is the first time i have challenged myself this way and it will be interesting to see how I go and how far I get. My first targets are the St Arnaud star geoart mystery series which i have had solved and waiting for some time. it will be nice to see a bunch of smiley stars on my map. Once I have completed logging those I intend to find traditional caches along the numerous trails in and around St Arnaud itself. Depending on how far I get I may then need to find caches slightly further afield. There's are certainly plenty to choose from in the area.
Alternatively I may decide its all too much and have a snooze in my tent instead. Wish me luck and thanks to all the owners for the lovely caches I am finding today.
Thanks for FBT07 - Fire Tower and for the fun FUF009.

TFTC. Today Algae and I decided to go for a drive to St Arnaud from Ballarat to grab some caches on our day off together. We managed to miss the rain, and only drove back home in the rain. We had lunch in town which was nummy. We decided we going to have to come back for the night to grab some of the night caches in the area. Some great quality caches out here.
Taking a break from our junket westwards to stroll agglomeration this track to find some caches

A Winter Saturday is always a good time to grab a few caches. LittleBoss2 and I headed from Bendigo today so I could reach a milestone and I couldn't think of a better area than St Arnaud to get some quality caching done.

Wow, this town sure has some wonderful caches on offer and so pleased we made the decision to come here whilst on our journey to SA.
Almost all caches were in great order and were a pleasure to find. Appreciate all the hard work that the CO's have put in placing these hides.

Found this series with tassie expat. Thanks for all of the work you put into hiding them. I hope you don't mind if I use a generic log. It gave us the opportunity to explore an area we wouldn't have done if not for you seeding this trail. Well done.
With the summer quickly coming to an end, the decision was made to have at least on good caching day, and were else to go than to the fabulous caching fields of St. Arnaud. Many thanks to all once again for these wonderful trails. Oh yeah the wing dings and chips at the roadhouse deserve a mention also.

Started yet another good StA series by the legendary T&C team. Thanks for the hide!
With travel plans disrupted due to border closures there was an opportunity to plan a country Victoria caching trip and having been unable to attend the St Arnaud mega last year it was decided to explore this area.

We headed out to enjoy a lovely day out and a picnic, we found ourselves in this area and set out to explore. The youngest team member has added his minecraft name "MightyScoobMan" (or MSM as it became) as well as our caching name to some of the logs, lol, Thanks for bringing us through here and only hearing the odd dirt bike in the distance we had the place to ourselves. TFTC and all the fun
This morning 80 degrees are on their own as ian&penny had appointments to attend to. So back to the fire break track which we did a few off last year. Most were easy to find and a couple of favourites as well.TFTC
On our way through to SA but found time to stop to do some caching. Some great creative hides. We wish we had more time to spend in the area but with the border block to take place from tomorrow we need to keep moving. We will return to cache around here at another time. Our thanks to FUF009 for placing this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
#4116 Fully sick! Where is the local fire tower, perhaps we will bump into as we continue caching the area? A quick find here and we have now finished the southern section of this trail. TFTC FUF009.

Day 6 Leaving St Arnaud area B and B to St Arnaud Campground
So far today we have done the pipe series, black range road series, and the bush wander series plus some stray trads and a couple of multis and puzzles as we passed. Now it's time to complete this series.
The idea was to leave the B and B then head to Beckwood Nature Park for the challenge trail there and spend the night camping. It turns out i got " side tracked " and cleared every trail in St Arnuad forest out instead. Plus a good number of stray caches on route. It would have been more but i staked a tyre around dusk. quick find.
Came over to the 2019 mega in St Arnaud with Mogni. We where joined by jj52, Aussie M and M plus others at different times over the mega weekend. Many caches where found over the course of the 8 day trip. Targeting multi's on the way there and back plus the challenge trail in Mount Beckworth reserve. The creative trails around St Arnaud where the highlight of the trip.

The crowds have thinned out and my caching buddy has returned home so today I decided to go and get the caches on the Fire Break Track. [^]
I had a fun time driving and walking in the bush that was very quiet today and found some more great well constructed caches in this series.
Thanks for the cache FUF009.

In St Arnaud to attend the Melbourne mega event, and this afternoon, I joined Big Matt to knock over a few local caches. This was a great little series to do, which had a few nice hides to go with it. Haven’t enjoyed so many caches in one spot for quite a while.

Repetitive Generic Bit: Thank you to all the CO’s and organisers and sponsors of the MEGA Event 2019! We managed to find so many quality caches over the weekend, and our numbers jumped extraordinarily high. We felt warmly welcomed in St. Arnaud; from small businesses, to the farmers along the roads, to townsfolk and of course our fellow caching visitors (the bull ants wanted to come home with us though). We also feel we really explored the peaceful town and surrounds thoroughly.
Now we have several hundred logs to fill out, and it will be very satisfying to see all those smileys appear on the map. We also have quite a few left undone- and we will return here again for sure.
The Repetitive Bit Pertaining to this series: Our last day here and the weather was a bit warmer today, which really took it out of us. All the caches were pretty fast finds, but super, super amazing creations! And we appreciated the tons of SWAG found in each cache too; pity the kids weren't with us.
Thank you so much for all the hard work gone into the placement- we found them all to be well maintained, and fun to find!

Out and about caching as Capital Crunchers with Joolay, barb2e and Kittykatch during the St Arnaud Mega event. This morning we decided to target the FBT and BW trails but gathered some along the way, this being one of them Thanks for hiding and maintaining this cache for us to enjoy. SL
Our Sunday geocaching was in two parts. Firstly a run around the town and the nearby fire tracks punctuated by the GIFF event and finished off with a few more on the highway towards Ballarat before making a freeway run for home. Another great day and some wonderful caches. Thanks from D & HA B-A.
19,498. Found with minniek during our epic visit to the St. Arnaud region for the 2019 Victorian Mega Event.
Day 2 - We headed out after breakfast for what we knew would be a great days caching. After the GIFF Event we continued on caching. The drive around the area was a lot of fun today. We only had time to complete one full series out this way so we picked the FB series. Quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, and we headed off to the next one.
Thanks FUF009 !!

We teamed up with Rapidlywild and headed down from Canberra for another Geocaching Victoria Mega. We arrived at our accommodation in Bendigo on Friday afternoon / evening and checked out a few caches in the area before retiring for the evening. On Saturday morning, we had a pleasant drive across to St Arnaud, arriving at the event as the opening ceremony was wrapping up, and the lab caches were released, so we joined the frenzy with the masses solving the cleverly constructed lab caches.
Sunday, day two of our mega weekend we headed over to St Arnaud to tackle some of the fire trails, and what ever else we came across along the way.
An enjoyable trail, a few others around today with the same idea. Some interesting containers, and well thought out, well maintained, and lots of fun in the dirt.

In St Arnaud for the Mega event but of course also to tackle as many of the surrounding trails as I can manage.
This was the last half day before driving back to Adelaide. To make the most of it I was up early to pack up the tent so I could hit the trails.
I finished around midday and then headed back to the Showgrounds for lunch and to say my goodbyes.
All caches were found and all were in great condition.

Heading back to the Mega HQ for the closing event I realized I had time for just one (or ten ) more caches. Considering the number of bushfires raging around Australia at the moment this series seemed quite topical.
I followed a geotrail to the fire tower. After a weekend like this some of these geotrails are almost whole new fire breaks!
Thanks FUF009.

Highlights of the Mega were attending all the weekend's social events, finding all 50 challenge caches in under 1 hour, finding all 40 lab caches, all 6 wherigos, and doing all 7 night caches in one night. No DNFs. Finding 11 cache types in 1 day. And of course making a start on the impressively creative constructions that FUF and TnC have made St Arnaud renowned for over the years.

It's that time of the year again, Victorian Mega time, so its off to St Arnaud for myself and the ladies of FurfacesLL. A long road trip ahead, heading off Friday morning and getting home late Monday night and a fun filled weekend. We found many caches of all kinds of variety.. Trads, Multis, Puzzles, EC's, Virtuals, Letterboxes, Wherigos, Events, Cito's and of course, the Mega itself. We enjoyed the weekend and there sure are some unique caches here in St Arnaud, we still have plenty left to collect, so may need to coordinate another trip this way some time.
Sunday is here, after a massive day yesterday doing the StARS trails, the Challenge trails, the CITO, Events and Lab caches. Today we decided to head out to try some of the Fire Trail trails and we were not disappointed.
Time to hit the FBT series [^] Quite enjoy the tracks around here, I can see why there are so many fire trail series placed in this area!
Thanks for the hide FUF009 And thanks to the FFLL ladies for another amazing trip away
