Logs
Found it and my fingers weren't long enough. Bring pliars or tweezers (or have extraordinarly long fingers!). TFTC.
A great hide! This one took quite a bit of searching, but once I looked in just the right place at just the right angle, I spotted something out of place enough, and sure enough, we had the cache in hand. Getting the log out was also no small feat, glad to have some TOTT with us today. A nice little spot out of the sun, TFTC!
Needed some help with finding this one after failed attempts on February/March.
With a little tip, I found it and realized I had only missed it by this

Nope. Had a good look before giving the night trail a crack but no luck tonight.
Met up with our Puzzlers group (YetiNZ, TwigNZ, RogerW1nz, GB Leader, Ethness, the Seagnoid, and JustLookingOO) for some night caching fun. I won't write up a full synopsis as I believe my fellow cachers have pretty much covered the shenanigans of the evening aptly. I've got to hand it to Ethness for making the final discovery, you really nailed it!!
I've joined a local puzzle solving group and as well as the occasional remote get together to sort out some puzzles we do the occasional live get together to sort out some actual finds.
Okay, okay, this is only the second of those. Came out Friday night (because Friday night is not a school night) and headed this way for some night caching.
After a bit of debate about which side of the stream to follow, we headed up the path to here. A slightly tricky find in the dark but with seven of us it didn't take long. And then another search to find the log that had dropped on the ground .
Signed as team puzzles who are me (the Seagnoid) ,TwigNZ, YetiNZ, TrinityNZ, Ll113, and... and... and two more. And more more, but they could not make it tonight.

#2029. The second night caching expedition of Team Puzzlers: Ethness, GB leader, JustlookingOO, LL113, the Seagnoid, TwigNZ, YetiNZ and me.
We rendezvous’d close to this cache, before heading up the hill for the night cache & a challenge cache. This one didn’t take too long - Ethness spotted it by torchlight while we others floundered about. Then the fun began!
Nice hide. Nice cache.

About a month ago I held an event in Wellington, during which I was approached to find out if I'd be interested in joining forces with a few others to pool our brains to work our way through a few local (and not so local) Mystery Caches. That turned out to be a great idea, and in such a short time has morphed/expanded into a friendly and enthusiastic band of Solvers, Educators and Intrepid Explorers.
This evening some of us ventured out after dark on a Twig's Tour excursion to have a bit of an adventure with a night cache and a few others nearby. When out caching we have sort of adopted the generic name of Team Puzzlers rather than fill log books with individual names (although some of us still like to have their individual caching name in the logbook too).
Tonight's Puzzlers were (in no particular order) RogerW1nz, GB Leader, JustlookingOO, LL113, Ethness, YetiNZ, the Seagnoid, and myself.
Two of our party tonight had previously found this cache, so were happy to stand back and watch 6 other cachers flounder around in the dark. I wish I could report that we were a well-honed and efficient team, but it would be fairer to say that we were all just having fun milling around shining our torches into the tree of interest, and often into each other's faces, before Ethness eventually made the discovery.
Even then she wasn't really sure exactly what she had found. She couldn't quite put her finger on it until the digital nature of the container was pointed out
The log itself was a bit damp, but I managed to get "Team Puzzlers" onto it before the whole thing was replaced.
Thank you for setting this one up. I am fast running out of FPs to give out since moving down to the Wellington region but this deserves one

I missed the first night caching expedition of Team Puzzlers but am with them tonight as part of the newly formed tour company called ‘Twig’s Tours’. Them/us being: RogerW1nz, GB leader, JustlookingOO, LL113, the Seagnoid, TwigNZ, YetiNZ and me.
We met close by and headed up the hill and into the bush for fun, laughter, confusion and to find 3 caches. The one thing we didn’t do was get lost - phew. I spotted and retrieved the cache while the others were looking else where. I didn’t realise what the cache container was until I was told to look at it properly!!! Onwards and upwards for more fun.

A magnificent Wellington day today, and with a RDO (random day off) I decided to walk the trail here and grab the caches along the way. No problem getting my finger on this one and extracting the log. Paper was a little damp but otherwise OK. TFTC
Had wobbly phone readings so quite a few hint objects were checked. Then bingo phone suddenly settled at 1m, easily seen from the right angle! What a surprise at a quiet ghoulish twilight hour!
You may like to take an extraction tool, or if you are like me and use the flicking technique ... note to self watch where it lands (heh, heh) - had another search to do, good grief!!!

Didn't take too long to find this one, great placement. Loved the container although the log was pretty fiddly to get out of the inner one, tools made it easier! Will have to come back in the darkness to do the intriguing looking night cache! Thanks for the hide
nice bush walk with the family today in this very pretty area, took a while to locate the cache, the kids liked the cache container, TFTC
I came by here to attempt the Yellow Eyes in the Dark cache, but thought to start off with this one. As I've never been to this track before and it was dark I was unsure of where the track started but once I got to the embankment I soon found my way. I got quite confused when the GPS read zero and I was sure I handn't counted a second bridge - even the first one was quite obscured by cut grass. But now that I've read some of the earlier logs I see that recent works in the area have removed one of them.
After a bit of hunting around I eventually made the grisly discovery and soon I was signing the log (once I extracted it). All good here, and onwards into the dark! TFTC+FP

On a long trip down to the mega with Lis's crew. So for me it good for numbers and favorites caches. With several stops and a lot of caches and several souvenirs up for grabs the trip was the perfect opportunity to get my numbers up and get some challenges that I have qualified for.
After a fun and a little confusing night cache we found this we bonus . Awesome.
We just finished the night cache with our new friends from Christchurch. We're staying in Tetahi Bay so I was pleased it wasn't too far to go after this cache as it had been a long day. This one was a quick find, thanks
Found after doing the nearby night cache. It was a bit tricky to get the container out of thehide, but persistence paid off

Day two. Part two. I decided to take two extra days off work for WENZ weekend. Bbear arrived last night and we are staying in Upper Hutt. After dinner at the motel we headed to the event. This cache was fun to find in the dark. Thanks for hiding and maintaining your geocache.
Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au
Thanks for hiding this geocache.

Thanks for hiding this geocache.
Quick find in the most obvious tree. Strangely enough, we wondered how a plastic chiili related to the various logs and it was only after finding the "lost something?" cache that we realised what it really was!
Needed our needle nosed pliers to wrangle the log holder out of the cache .Log was totally saturated so replaced with a new waterproof log.

'Beautiful walk, thick bush'… and revolting cache Quick find, supplied tweezers definitely needed. Cheers WaffleKitties!
Spent a good few hours with The Wandering Dragons (doing a maintenance run), BruceWWNZ and TharnTheHulkan today starting from Rangituhi up to Colonial knob and down again to near Farm Road. Some of the areas were pretty treacherous and others were really dry. Thanks for all the caches.. This cache was a great one with a pretty unique container.
Out on a mission today to tidy up the few remaining caches I haven't yet found on Colonial Knob. It turned out to be quite a lengthy, in depth examination of quite a few bait trails! Had to keep stepping aside during the ascent to make way for the Iron Man contestants who were running up here today.
An interesting cache container here.

A nice easy find a short walk from the road. Repairs to the stream bank here have obliterated the second bridge but GPS was good and got me to GZ. Supplied removal tool is intact, and required.

Aaargh! No wait, it's a geocache. Great hide which was made slightly difficult by GPS accuracy in the forest. Got there with sufficient searchng. This cache has been lonely for quite a while but it's still there in good shape.
First of four on this afternoon’s bush walk. Had difficulty finding the start of the track - rather overgrown! See my photo attached. Took a few minutes to locate the cache. Worth the effort! #997. TFTC.
A quick find as I headed on up the track, an interesting hide whose significance was yet to be revealed.

This one took quite a few minutes to track down, and gave me a chuckle when I found it. Thanks heaps for the cache.
A quick find, thanks to a glint from the tweezers. A bit of a surprise when I pulled them out and saw what they were attached to. TFTC.
Disappointed that we didn't find this one, even after 20mins of searching and making friends with a few beefy looking spiders! Path is a little overrun by the stream in places, likely due to the heavy rain on Friday. Still muddy like GSEL's photo shows! We'll be back!
#842. Glad I chose today to visit and not yesterday. The mud and debris covering the boardwalk shows it would have been very tricky to get here yesterday. The GPS reading was spot on and I saw a rather worrying object resting on the tree. Hope its not a sign of what happens to those who attempt the nightcache up these parts! Closer inspection and with help from the handy tweezers I soon had a logbook. All dry inside despite the downpour yesterday. A well crafted container. Deserves a favourite. Hopefully will remember to give it one later. Well done WaffleKitties on Hide #1.
spotted casually hiding in place! wonder if it's related to the cache further up the line
Another nice quick find, and spotted reasonably quickly by Dr_Bogan. Think I know who this belongs to!!! Coooooool!

I took the opportunity to look for this cache after completing the nearby night cache. It took a lot of hunting for in the dark as the GPS on the phone was more than a little patchy. Pulled out the real GPS and soon had found the hiding spot as well as a huge number of decent sized bush spiders - yuck! I was tentatively trying to check that there were no spiders on or around the cache itself when I suddenly realised what I was tugging on! Needless to say I did let out an involuntary squeak!!!
TFTC and the very clever container deserves a favourite point from me.

#6266. Parked at Rangituhi Crescent to have a little walk. Several kids were playing on the crescent, but the walkway was all quiet today. Quick find. Very thoughtful placement and cache. We particularly appreciated the accompanying tweezers provided. Cache was in “excellent” condition. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log. Thanks for the cache.
What a fun container. We had lots of fun. Thank you for providing us with necessary tool. Extra fun was tgat we picked up the cache at dast. Wooooo. TFTC
On arrival at ground zero, I had a quick look around and saw nothing. I consulted my GPSr for more information and had a closer look at the object that earlier interested me. I then spotted what I believed was the hiding place which was empty. Another look around revealed the very interesting cache container at a much different height to what I was expecting; I don't know how it ended up there. I am pretty confident I put things back as the cache owner intended them to be.
Had to play eenie meenie with the trees to find this one, but got there in the end, and loved the container! TFTC
I took advantage of a nice afternoon to go for a stroll in the bush. My GPS was a little out but no problems using the given info. Cheers and TFTC
Found this awesome cache at the start of the new nightcache track. Kjwx and I initially struggled to get to the log book, but some dexterous digital manipulation got us there in the end. Nice one! TFTC
Was on the way to the night cache so picked this up as well. Nice cache container - TFTC !
Also found this one. Also weird but could have been combined in a scary multi with the other one up the stream. TFTC. Sherlock Hood.
Find No 2 for tonight's geo-outing with JardisLikeTardis. We'd come here specifically to attack the new night cache here but couldn't resist grabbing what we presumed would be a standard trad at the entranceway. However, it was actually a fine body of work, though we briefly struggled with the tool provided.
Very cool hide. Imaginative indeed! Found this one before heading up the stream. A good walk out and back today. TFTC
Cache # 2,032 - a quick find and a clever hide. This this today with Astro Hunter. TFTC!
Found today with The Wandering Dragons. Always like walking this pathway. Thanks for another reason to bring us here.

#1429 A nice, albeit windy, afternoon to grab a cache in a new [to us] reserve. Took our dinner and ate on the grass in the sunshine after tracking down the cleverly crafted cache. Very cool hide TFTC. We'll have to come back another day to explore the reserve and find the other caches in the area.
Nice sunny day, schools out. What better way to spend it than doing a spot of geocaching. First find for the day with JamJar.

Appreciated the tweezers here, thanks for including them. Quick find after cachers eye noticed the faint geotrail leading to the hiding spot. Ha! liked the cache . Cheers
Was expecting a muddy approach after reading previous logs. A few days of fine Wellington weather has made all the difference. A little bit of a search around but container found successfully. All in order. TFTC
Came for here to make this my cache of the day. A familiar spot, I had been in here a few years ago to find the cache a bit further up the track, and the ground was just as sodden and muddy today as I remembered it last time. The coordinates were about 7 metres out for me once the GPSr settled but I wouldn't bother changing them, the instructions ensured a fast find. Appreciated the tweezers too! A nicely done cache container, the first I have seen like that. Signed log, congratulations on an excellent first cache!
So what do you do when you have a spare Sunday? You go and find WaffleKitties' first cache, of course. Ground very muddy on the approach to GZ. Had some idea what I was looking for based on previous logs.. turned out I was completely wrong! But sure was the sort of thing I would expect from you WaffleKitties... great container. TFTTweezers and TFTC. Looking forward to finding more of your caches

3TF. Mel0n and I squelched our way across the reserve to the start of the boardwalk, and then the GPS decided to have a sulk and swing around randomly under the tree cover. Found it by investigating all the likely locations. "Interesting" cache container, is probably the best comment (Mel0n liked it though), and I really appreciated the provided Tweezers - a very nice touch. No room for trackables - so glad I'd left them at home. TFTC.
YAY FIRST TO FIND! haha i love the container! didnt take to much looking around! after a quick look around and there it is! awesome cache thanks
and it is my first, first to find!
and it is my first, first to find!
2TF - Was in the area when the alert came through. Jumped in the car and headed up to GZ. Another car was parked up on arrival ... bugger. Trek to GZ muddy and pitch black. Just as I arrived near GZ LCBuilder was heading out having achieved a FTF. Cache located fairly quickly considering I am terrible at night caching and only had the light of my iphone. Container gave me a bit of a scare, especially in the dark. Tweezers required to extract log ... bugger. Improvised and log signed and returned to it's hiding place. Congrats on your first placement WaffleKitties. I enjoyed your cache. TFTC
