Day three of the road trip to Coober PedyLeft Woomera and headed north for the main aim of the trip, Coober Pedy. Found six traditionals and did an Earthcache before arriving in the opal town. Checked into a nice underground accommodation then headed out to cache. Wasn't expecting to, but managed to completely clear the area in, and just out of, Coober Pedy of all unfound caches for us both. Which, as neither of us have been to Coober Pedy before, was all of them. A great day of caching in a very unique area with a lot of interesting history. Celebrated by dining out then returning to the unique and interesting dugout to put our feet up.A quick find for me while the Rat was looking elsewhere. Thanks to The Noodler for adding to the playing field with this cache.Smilie #15150.*This log composed and published using GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife).*

Quick find while exploring this interesting area. Wet today but amazing colours coming out. Thanks for putting a cache here.
Another rainy day. frmen1 and I on the road, heading north for nicer weather. A quick find. Heeded the warning signs. TFTC
Today we are in Cooper Pedy and spent sometime visiting various sites and caches. Most were found easily and in all cases log signed. It turned out to be a great tour of the area. A short walk from our vehicle had this in hand. TFTC
After doing a few caches in cooperpedy, I have to say they have all been easy to find. Thank you to the placements and upkeep to allow us to cache in such areas . An easy find TFTC
Hello The Nobler, we visited these ones this morning before coming to see you. Danger everywhere with these mines but the landscape is interesting and soft in colours.Thank you for the placement!Greetings - pilot03 #4534

Velk cesta do Ocenie - Coober Pedy, South Australia - Erldunda, Northern Territory (480 km)Hwy to Hell ! No prost nestoj to za nic. Today was only permanent hell. It was about 45C and sunny all day. I drive from Coober Pedy to Erldunda in Northern territory. If I had known how monotonous the journey would be, I would have flown by plane. There are no views of the countryside, just low bushes everywhere and terrible heat. Neither animals are to be seen, nor is civilization here. I stopped by some caches on the way. Thanks for all caches I visited and greetings from Czech republic.
Out exploring. Having a good day *Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
Found by The Empire + HOur journey into Coober Pedy began with a drive through the stark and unforgiving terrain of the outback. The red earth seemed to stretch endlessly, occasionally broken by clusters of spiky desert vegetation. As we approached the town, the first thing that caught our eye was the peculiar mounds of earth that dotted the landscape. These are also known as "rangeland" or "mullock" mines. In these operations, the miners excavate the surface layer of the earth to reach the opal-bearing layer. You'll see large, open pits that have been dug into the ground. The exposed layers of earth and rock are often colourful and can contain opal.As the tires of our vehicle met the unpaved tracks, the terrain became progressively rougher. The fine red dust that billowed around us soon covered every surface, creating a layer of the outback's signature hue on the car's exterior. It was a visual reminder that we were far from the well-manicured roads of the city. The tracks meandered through the lunar-like landscape, revealing an ever-changing array of geological wonders. We passed rocky outcrops and strange formations, some of which seemed like sculptures created by nature's hand. The colors of the earth shifted from deep reds to muted browns, with occasional hints of green where hardy desert plants managed to thrive. The isolation of the outback was tangible. The silence was broken only by the hum of our vehicle's engine and the occasional breeze that swept across the open plains. It was a stark contrast to the constant noise and bustle of urban life, and it brought a profound sense of serenity. Thanks for the cache The Noodler.- M
Travelling with iluvtrekking up the WA coast to NT and down through the Centre to SA then home across the Nullabor. Coober Pedy is certainly a very unique place. Thanks for the hide.
Travelling with richlink from Perth to Darwin along the west coast and home again through the centre and the Nullarbor, picking up caches along our route. This is our first day in Coober Pedy taking in the sights. TFTC.

Thanks for the cache, all looks to be in good condition with this one, Thanks for the hide.
Blown away by the wind, but not blasted by the explosives! We found the decoys and located the cache. Updated one of the decoys with a new message and released Feral-9 traceable to continue his military adventures.
A 'It does exactly what it says on the tin' sort of a cache, and that's no bad thing. TNLN-TFTC!

TFTC, be mindful the road to this cache is a private road. Not suitable for a caravan.
Day 5 week 1 of 5 weeks off.
Rockhampton to Coober Pedy and sundry other places.
20 degrees, almost feels like home……
Having only half a day left here, we are trying to get as much caching in that we can as well as all the sights we have yet to see.
Quite a lot really
After an amazing tea at the Big Winch watching the sun go down, we are doing these at night (no wandering around seemingly empty desert places for us) with great success.
I have finally found a home for a trackable I have held onto for a while, mainly because he has been too large to fit in other caches.
Treat him well. He’s been a good companion in my car for a while now.
As we find the cache, Buttons warns me that the fence is electric, which I am sceptical of and show her that it isn’t (by grabbing her hand and then the fence ).
Weirdly tho the sign is making a kinda thrumming noise when you hold your head next to it.
Ah well. Aliens…..
Log signed and left the trackable that was already in it left alone as Buttons said no.
I told her she couldn’t have a cow (running joke for many years between us) but left it there.

The three of us spent a couple of days in Coober Pedy, and had a fantastic time exploring underground and mining attractions.
Embarrassingly Mr Tardis found both the decoy caches until finding the real one, where we should have looked.
Signed the log. Thanks for the cache The Noodler.

With some time on our hands in the afternoon, we scouted around town for a number of finds in interesting locations. Thanks for the hide.
Sir_spectre and I went on a long overdue holiday to the Northern Territory. We had some great experiences and saw some amazing natural wonders. Not all went to plan - covid closures, flood effected roads, renovations, hot weather, some car troubles and not forgetting the huge jump in fuel costs
Any caches that needed repairs were fixed and numeous logs were replaced or added too.
Thanks to The Noodler from mogni

Missed this one on the way up because we took a different road out of cooper pedy, so got this one on the return home 9 days later. quick find.
Mogni and myself went to the Northern Territory for a 10 day holiday. We drove 5478 km's in those 10 days. The plan was to go up the Sturt highway and then go via Ayers Rock, King's Canyon and then through to Alice Springs stopping at the gorges/chasm/gaps along the way. As you can expect nothing goes to plan. Day 1 Adelaide to Cooper Pedy, made it just before the Roxby Downs turn off and blow the side wall on the tire of the 4x4, 193 km detour just to get a tire and even then it was the second tire place that had the tire the correct size. We had camels come in to the campsite in Erldunda Roadhouse, they even left hoof prints 1/2 a foot from the tent, at King's Canyon we had dingo's come through the camp ground both nights we where there and at Alice springs we had a mouse move in under the tent in their campground. Some of the aboriginal towns we passed where in lock down because of covid 19 so no going in to get fuel there, that changed some plans. The floods where way worse up in Northern Territory than i realized. Some creeks/rivers i could see the debris over 2 meters from the river bed and down one 4x4 track it washed the road away completely, the hole was 3/4 the length of the 4x4 and over 6 foot deep. The temp was 33 to 36 for 9 of the 10 days and finally cooled down for the drive home. We got 7 different caches types in the N.T. plus every different cache size. It was a good trip but not the one we planned. To many of the roads in the N.T. where damaged and not repaired ( still closed ) so that cancelled plan A but that's just a excuse to come back isn't it. Come back and see what you missed last time when the roads are fixed. We came with 19 regular " geocaching size " containers and a milk crate of small containers by day 7 all the regulars where used as replaced caches and by day 8 the smalls where gone. It was the UV rays a lot more than the floods that killed the caches and almost all the log books where saved, the micro containers seemed to have constantly full log sheets so they where replaced too.

Left Cunnamulla after QOGM 2021 heading to Sth Australia, stopped in Mount Isa for a little spell and to catch up with new friends drrnrchr and attack all the caches here. Then WA then back to Cairns June 2022. 23 October 2021 3:52 pm Tyfc The Noodler total caches now 2927
Silly me thought I knew where it was so left the phone in the car. Found the 2 NOT geocaches before grabbing my phone and finding the real one. Thanks
Found at 9:01. I had been working in the area this week, and fortuitously had an unscheduled free day. A muggle colleague Chris joined me for the morning find all but one of the local caches. We stopped, we avoided danger, we found the cache.
There must be many mine shafts dotted through the landscape when you look at all the little mountains of mining leftovers here. This cache did not pose any danger and was found speedily.
My first time to this area, and at this point I didn’t even know what noodling was. TFTC Noodler.
I was convinced I already had this one until I found it and it was different from the one I remembered. Happy to have taken the time to make the stop this cold morning. TFTC

Off for a northern tour with Purrfect Di and Jack...
somehow we ended up at your cache ! ! !
First one we found after getting bogged on a nearby road. Seemed oddly appropriate
Thank you The Noodler for another cool yellow smiley on our SA geomap
Today we had some fun. Got bogged on the way to a cache and being tourists, after much muddy maxxtraxing we managed to move on. All in all ok, as Di really enjoyed me unbogging the car LOL.
"A cache a day keeps the doctor away" - all part of my messy dodgy health care plan

2020 won. it's not over yet!

Keep away from the nasty bugs ( except travel bugs of course )
- keep a distance from people as much as you can, they spread the nasty bugs! [:o)]
- go out and find or place some new caches in our regional areas where it's safer away from bugs!!

Three weeks on the road for a family holiday to Alice Springs, Ayers Rock and Kings Canyon amongst other cool destinations had us traveling all over the place. We had a great time and the weather was extremely hot with bushfires that actually prevented us from going to some destinations.
We stayed in Coober Pedy for the night before continuing on our journey back home. I got up early this morning and Coop, Ty and I headed out to explore a bit more of this amazing town and to find some more of the caches that were around. This was one of them.
Thanks for the cache.

TFTC. Such a desolate place. Clouds of mining dust in the distance so somebody is hopeful
