A pleasant meander with Baktrak.Signage informative and not a mossy in sight.Answers sent and pic below. Thanks FreeRangeKelly
Visited with MummyPenny on this overcast afternoon. I'd been here a few years ago and the signs were barely readable then, being grimy and faded. They're in better condition now and there are 5, including the summary sign at the viewing platform, all quite informative. Answers sent. Thanks for the lesson FreeRangeKelly.
We travelled by train to Gosford and enjoyed a walk around the CBD and the waterfront and this wetlands boardwalk. A nice Earthcache with straightforward questions. TFTEC FreeRangeKelly
We have explored this boardwalk many times but spending the time to read and learn about such h an important part of our local ecosystem was great. The mini cacher enjoyed learning about why mangroves are important The mangroves look healthy is some spots but a lot of them look to have some sort of black spot disease
What an interesting area! I really liked walking around the boardwalk and learning about the mangroves, something I have yet to come across as Im actually visiting from Canberra and (to my knowledge) I dont think we have many mangroves as, well, we dont have a lot of ocean This was my first Earthcache, and it was a nice, educational activity as well as a nice walk. Thanks for the cache!
In the area today, completing an AL, when we noticed an Earthcache. We had a walk along the boardwalk, not a lot of rubbish in the water. Wazza9 has sent the answers into the CO. Thank you for bring us here to learn about the area's mangroves
TFTC,We came to the area so that I could chat to the Panel Beater who is going to undertakethe next stage of my vehicle restoration and to have lunch with a friend. After completing these activities we did an Adventure Lab that delivered us to this location where we finished the AL, got the information for the EarthCache and finished a Traditional. Left the AL Bonus for another time.Visited trackables.
Didnt know this existed. Was a nice stroll. Car park unavailable so we went to the local adcock park sports field to start the short walk. TFTC
Nice to come back to this area, and to learn more about the area plus the reasons for mangrove impact. Have sent answers to the CO. The mangroves at GZ don't look very healthy, although further along the boardwalk there are lots of mangrove babies coming along, and the adults look in better condition than their neighbours.Parking: the Council is doing works, and has taken up the area at the posted parking coords. There is room for maybe one car by the road here, but plenty more parking next to the sportsground nearby, at S 33 25.707 E 151 19.742. TFTC!
Ended up in the mangroves during the Waterfront Wander AL and decided to complete this while I was here. The mangroves are so nice and cool compared to the temps on the footpath. To my untrained eyes, the mangrove looks healthy except for a bit of scum washing in from the waterfront.
Passing through Gosford whilst working up at Terrigal, Parked at the sport fields and noticed all the upgrade works. Dressed in construction gear, hi vis helped as I slid passed the fences.
Out to grab an AL waypoint, was able to snap a photo for the cache album before losing the day’s sunlight.
Really nice place to visit, thanks for showing me this place

On the last day of 2022 my boyfriend and I decided to grab some lunch and eat it at a park. We saw the green patch here and assumed it was a park, we weren't expecting a mangrove habitat!
After scoffing down our food we meandered and looked at the interesting trees here, including the mangroves and all the twisting vines. They seemed mostly healthy but there were a couple of spots where we could see oil on the surface of the soil which was sad.
It was fun working out which species of mangrove we were looking at by observing their leaf formation.
Thanks for a great earth cache and for the interesting information!

Visited this lovely location while heading home today. Collected info and sent to CO. TFTC.
I spent a week on the central coast back in January. I gathered the information needed back then for the earth cache with the hope of logging it when I got home.. oops it was put on the backburner.

We are on a five day holiday to the Central Coast, staying at the NRMA/Big4 Ocean Beach Holiday Resort (caravan Park) in Umina Beach. Looking to do some of the many Central Coast Adventure Labs, visit some previously solved Puzzle/Mystery cache GZs, and to collect any other caches we come across during our daily travels. Photos will be uploaded to logs on our return to home base.
Today we visited Gosford, Koolewong, Woy Woy, Booker Bay, Ettalong Beach, Umina Beach, and the headland above Pearl Beach. Completed two Adventure Labs , and partly completed another (4 of 5 stages), and collected a variety of other caches, including an EarthCache, two previously solved Mystery/Puzzle caches, one AL Bonus cache, and numerous Traditional caches. This was the 7th of 21 finds for the day (day 4), and 62nd find of the holiday.
After completing the "Gosford Waterfront Wander" adventure Lab, which ended right here on the Mangrove Boardwalk, we next turned our attention to this EarthCache. We continued our "meander through the mangroves" along the raised boardwalk, gathering information from the many signboards as we strolled around, and ended our meander with a team photo near the end of the boardwalk.
Our answers to the questions were sent to the CO, and have now been approved. TFTEC Mumma-Kel, it was an enjoyable and informative experience.

In the area visiting family, when we found oursleves at this vantage completing a nearby LAB adventure. An interesting spot with lots of ecosystems working alongside one another.
The mangroves appeared to be in a good healthy state and I couldnt see any signs of the old oil spill.

We used to walk along these boardwalks as part of school sport back in the day, so it was good to bring the kids along this nice easy walk. Not too much rubbish here today and the tide was relatively high so it wasn't even too smelly, which the kids were happy about. The sign at the end of the boardwalk has been upgraded with a nice colourful replacement. not sure why they didn't upgrade all the signs at the same time.
The area affected by the oil spill is noticeably less dense and the trees seem a bit smaller than the other areas nearby, although to be honest, I'm not sure if we would have picked up on it without the heads up.
Thanks for another fun and informative EarthCache!

Did this with GeoIan, enjoyed the boardwalk and the mangroves. They look healthy and lots of little fish! Thanks for the Earthcache and information about same.
I walked the boardwalk a couple of times today, and only saw a couple of pieces of rubbish. The mangroves seem to be doing OK, and multplying, as there are new seedlings everywere. Water was clear, and i saw a lot of fish activity. Thanks for the Earthcache, and informative text.
My physio told me not to go climbing trees or rock-hopping or anything but walking on flat surfaces. At least for a few weeks, while I work on building some strength into some dodgy glutes. So today I designed an agenda that involved lots of walking on flat surfaces, two train trips, 15 ALs, and one earth cache. It all went according to plan except when the heavens opened about 500 metres from this earth cache. I was on top of the bridge over the rail line, on foot, and I got a drenching. My flimsy rain-jacket didn't cope, and a bit of water got into my phone's charger port as well. I should have been better prepared.
After the rain eased off, I made it to the boardwalk and did some research for this earthcache. I took a photo or two, and I'll upload one for this log when I get organised.
As for rubbish in the mangroves, I saw a bike just a few metres off the boardwalk, propped up in the trees. The tyres were still pumped up, from what I could tell, so I'm guessing it hasn't been there long. This would be a nice place to have a CITO event one day.
Thanks for the EC, Mumma-Kel.

Answers sent. Nice walk. Many smaller growths suggest recovery is proceeding, but a bit of trash especially near the shore. TftEC.
Great little stroll on a grey very humid Jan. Day . Will send answers to cache owner ; photo shows a corner with the tide out. Tftc
I visited the Central Coast on my way back from Newcastle and the Hunter Valley where I spent Christmas with family, followed by a tour around the Dogs Head Trail with a few geofriends from Sydney. This Earthcache, along with some Adventure Labs, was icing on my Christmas cake on the way home. (Answers sent to the CO). Loved the Mangrove boardwalk. TFTEC Mumma-Kel
OCW diddyhonda from Germany. We came across this EC while we were attempting a stage of an AL.
We walked along the boardwalk (not under it) and took notice of the information. Such a shame about the oil spill, but hopefully the mangroves have recovered over time. It was vey peaceful looking over the water today.
Answers sent for both diddyhonda and Brewmaker. TFTEC

Thank you for a wonderful wander! This earthcache has given me an idea for setting one up so thank you - I don’t recall seeing one in mangroves before.
We have sent through our answers via the message Centre.
In relation to the oil spill it wasn’t until reading the sign that we could see secondary evidence of the oil spill, in fungus and borer activity. Also when away from the site we noticed the baby mangroves seemed to be in better condition.
Thanks for bringing us here!

Wandered through here while doing some daily exercise. Nice chance to learn a bit more about the mangroves.

The family and I found ourselves in the area this weekend, so before it was time to go and grab some lunch, we took a lovely little wander through the mangroves! The kids being kids loved running along the boardwalk while we set about grabbing the required information. We all enjoyed this nice experience.

Enjoyed the nice stroll through the mangroves, and appreciated the opportunity to learn a bit more about why they are important. Too bad my 5 month old wasn't enjoying it as much as I was.
We’re here for a wedding week end and took the opportunity to grab some caches also.
Today been a humid day that we’re not custom to it.
We walked around the loop and been low tide we spotted a bit of rubbish in one par of the mangrove and another looked very healthy.
Didn’t see any animals but seen a lot of bush turkey today.

Found with Shaneo58 on this rainy sort of day hope we are heading the right way to stay dry. On the way home from attending an event, we came on the board walk for a AL and discovered that there is a Earth cache, answers sent to CO. Learning a little in the process.

Happy earth cache day! Lovely mangroves here. Saw and heard birds chirping;)
Mrs Oz KEG and myself are visiting the central coast for the weekend. Our focus was lab, virtual, letterbox and earth caches to get some of my stats up for some other caches. We really enjoyed our visit and the escape from the much cooler weather in the Canberra area. Answers have been sent but have not had a response from the CO. Logging the find assuming my answers are ok. Thanks Mumma-Kel.
Nice wander, and thanks to all previous cachers who have removed rubbish previously. I did not see a single piece of litter today. Pat yourselves on the back.

Well...
I'm after some finds today - those calendar finds don't just go up by themselves. But what to do?
I've been stuck on 49 Large finds for a while, and of course there's a Challenge Cache I've been eyeing that requires 50. But unfound Large caches near home aren't in any sort of supply.
I've also noted that the most different cache sizes found in a day is five. That leaves two to increase that stat by, and again there are Challenge caches around...
After a look outside the Sydney Basin I worked out that if I head up to Gosford I can actually grab all seven sizes, which will, of course, include that 50th Large find.
Sounds like a plan!
But making sure I get the seven meant that I ended up backtracking a bit, and snagged a few extras just before heading home, close to where I started.

Parked in the more easily accessible car park, but still only had a short walk to the start of the boardwalk.
Got info from the signs but I must admit I had trouble getting an answer for question 2. Ended up walking back and forth a bit but could only spot five signs here. Hmmm.
A few groups of muggles here today, parent with small kids, dog walkers and a jogger.
Nice small area. Great view from the end platform.
I did notice signs of the oil spill - especially near the pollution sign. There were a few areas devoid of mangroves - nothing has grown back, and a number of mangroves where a trunk or a branch are dead and / or rotting - more in a small area than I noticed anywhere else. No actual sign of oil, though.
I'll send my answers to the CO shortly.

On Friday I departed Brisbane on my way south to spend Christmas with some relatives in Vincentia, NSW. I had allowed myself a few days of relaxed travel, which gave me plenty of time to do some caching along the way. Having camped in my car on the outskirts of Newcastle overnight, I was up at daybreak to continue the journey south. I was on a deadline on a couple of caches due to tides and location closing times, but with those now completed I was able to be a bit more relaxed with the rest of the day's caching. This was an ideal location to take a breather, as I was the only one here strolling along the boardwalk. A very peaceful location. TFTC
TFTEC. I love wetlands and the ecology that goes with it. Thanks for bringing me to a place I didn’t know existed. I’m visiting from Newcastle NSW.
Did the walk a few weeks ago with GeoJess, TaylaPearce3 and Muggle Wife.
Mangroves were in pristine condition.
I had no idea Pluvers were waterbirds! Bin Chickens were nowhere to be seen.
TFTC Mumma-Kel !

Nice walk through the mangroves, no sign of any oil. Unfortunately however there was a bit of rubbish thrown around and damage to some of the trees and foliage. My first earthcache so i had a good time nonetheless
Today after a great days bird watching in the mangrove regions of the Central Coast I thought it was appropriate to make this my cache for the day.
I left the geomobile in the nearby parking and was pleased to see several muggles walking in the area enjoying this great habitat which is so important to sustaining our planet.
It was high tide so I didn't see any crustaceans but there was some bird life. I noted Brown Gerygone and Grey Teal while I walked along the boardwalk.
Today there is no evidence of the past oil spill many years ago.
The mangroves are very healthy with plenty of pneumotaphores visible amongst the plants. There are also vibrant green new shoots on the plants and small buds which will eventually produce new buds and then seeds.
I've noticed over the years that the often unpleasant smell that was associated with mangrove areas no longer exists.
Did you know that you can test the saltiness of the mangrove area?
Take a leaf and lick it, its not poisonous, and will taste salty!

On our drive from Sydney to Brisbane, we stopped for an overnight visit in Gosford. We loved meandering through this area, which is not a place we have explored before. Our motel was very close to this earthcache, so with the geo-nieces in tow, we wandered to GZ along a beautiful boardwalk pathway, with the 2 little ones collecting information from the plaques along the way.
We have emailed CO with answers to the questions.
Thanks Mumma-Kel for taking time to put this earthcache together,

I was staying in Gosford overnight and decided to take an early morning walk and collect this Earthcache. It is a nice spot and also took some photos at the posted coordinates, not quite early enough for the sunrise though. I took a look at the signs and hopefully collected the right information, which I have messaged to the CO. I must say I did learn a little something about the way mangroves work and the environment that encourages them with this Earthcache.
I without knowing about he environmental issues of he past I would have said the mangroves were healthy. They actually look to be flourishing with plenty of new growth.

We spent the day caching our way through Gosford and Erina today, to find some new D:T combos, and some other special caches. We can't drive past an EarthCache without stopping, so did.
I like these boardwalks, Samuel isn't such a fan, although he was happier once learning the water is not very deep alongside.... the mangroves seem in good condition apart from various bits of rubbish seen floating about. TTFE Mumma-Kel (answers have been emailed)

Hubby and I had a beautiful run through the mangroves and along the foreshore with the intention of securing the earthcache souvenir. Beautiful spot Mumma Kel
Up the coast with Team Merlin for a wedding staying overnight nearby decided to make a find of a few local caches in the morning before heading home. As today was International EarthCache Day 2016 we had our eye on the Earthcache Meander through the Mangroves by Mumma-Kel to earn our souvenir for the day.
Parking near by we walked towards GZ finding a boardwalk to follow amongst the mangroves. Along the meandering mangroves we located all the information needed to answer the questions.
Answers to the questions have been emailed to the CO on behalf of both teams.

Being in the area attending a wedding with JJCC so we set about finding our target earthcache for the day along with a few other caches by the CO.
Parking closeby we walked over to the boardwalk and proceeded to collect all of the needed information in order to answer the questions. Fantastic to see all of the new mangrove growth coming through. Had a little bit of issue finding the answer to question one due to some vandalism, but otherwise all good. JJCC submitted a joint email with the answers collected to the CO.
The following TBs came through for the mileage: Bob geoMinion, Dave geoMinion, Evil geoMinion, Jerry geoMinion, Larry geoMinion, Stuart geoMinion, teamMerlin's 7 Deadly Ducks Tag (Lust) and Vanlith The Youngling.

After successful property hunting in Gosford, it was time for a cache before heading back to Sydney.
I had this cache in my mind, as for whatever stupid reason I thought today was International Earth Cache day.
After parking the car it was on to the board walk. The meandering through the mangroves was pleasant and educational and I was at the end of the board walk much earlier than I wanted.
Many thanks for the cache.

I am on my way to an event and I have plenty of time to find a few caches on the way.
An enjoyable walk along the boardwalk.
Thanks for the cache.

Found this beautiful spot on a Sunday afternoon. We had come to the area for a different reason and ended up caching instead. Thanks for bringing us here.
We are late logging this one. We took photos of the signs and are now just getting to answering the questions. It was a beautiful walk through here and we were able to teach the kids why wetlands/mangroves are important and why we need to look after them. TFTC.
A very pleasant stoll around the boardwalk and all the information was discovered.
Not much wildlife out today.............I didn't even see a crab!

After picking up a few mystery caches between Tuggerah and Gosford with YGAT we decided on a change so we stopped to do this earthcache. I’d been along this boardwalk before this cache was placed so it was nice to have this excuse to return.
I have sent our joint answers to the CO.
Thanks Mumma-Kel for setting up an earthcache in such a stunning place.

I enjoyed strolling along the boardwalk gathering the information. It was so peaceful despite the busy road nearby. Mr MR has sent our answers to the CO. Thanks Mumma-Kel.
After finding a silent place in the middle of nature, I walked to this place to find the answers for the Earthcache. Thanks for showing!
We visited the nice reptile Park in Somersby which was great. A lot of informative and illustrative keeper talks.
After the visit there we stopped at some nice caches in the region.
Thank you to all the owners

Maintenance not required. Hopefully keys were returned to their rightful owner.
We found something but I am not sure it was right - 4 Gosford little athletics key rings were found (in boxes and gaffer taped up) - no log was found in the boxes. It was in exactly the right area (under the platform right corner near the sign). Please check if it has been muggled or swapped perhaps?
Nice walk through here, except the mozzies were getting hungry. Got the info and continued on listening for cuckoos will send through info when on the desktop pc at home.

Awesome place. Saw a lot of animals creeping away from us as we approached; lizards, crabs, birds. Very interesting area. TFTC

We were in the area finding as many of the COTY nominated caches that we could in C4 territory and a few others along the way. We didn't choose the best day weatherwise as it rained on and off all day, sometimes rather heavily!
The heavy rain made for a rather interesting stroll along the boardwalk - we had to take it slowly as the wood was very slippery in places. Lucky we had an umbrella in the boot and one of Mr C's hi-vis work jackets or we'd be soaked! What an interesting spot, always love an Earthcache.

Today was out with ratchet69. She had already done this cache but came back for me to complete. Had a lovely walk through the mangroves. Thanks for bringing me to this area. TFTC
Out for breakfast with my muggle sister and brother-in-law and I brought them over here for a walk. Unfortunately they had to wait in the carpark as they had their dog with them so I had to try to be quick. I did get a couple of nice photos of the lilies growing here, will upload them when I find my phone cord.
Happy Earthcache Day! Family and I stopped in town specifically for this cache. We loved how family friendly it was. Even the 2 year old wandered the lap... Twice! Answers to be forwarded shortly. Thanks for the walk and the cache.
