Answers have been sent to the CO via geocaching message centre. A photo taken at WP2 is attached. Our first trip to Launceston. Went for a nice stroll along the rivers (Esk and Tamar), in the light rain and taking in the signs and earthcache lesson along the way. Well curated and a good way to learn about the areas hydrology. Reviewed the signs afterwards to compile our answers, combining information with our observations of the river while at the earthcache coordinates. Thanks for bringing us here and the reason to stop, think and take it all in --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their long lasting, and ongoing connections to land, sea and community. We (the pants people) pay our respects to Traditional Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
Lovely spot here. Nice to read the information about the river and area. I can see why they build on the sides of the hills. Answers sent to CO.Tasmania trip 2024 with Kittykatch. Working to get all states and Territories in a year and counties. First visit to Tassie so excited to experience everything. Thanks for getting me out and about Ryan00
The Answers have been sent to C O .I was in Launceston for a few days travelling either by foot or by the free tiger buses and after walking back down from the cataract i then walked along this are and completed the earth cache before catchinthe free bus again back into centre of town , They are very useful buses ! thank you for this interesting Earth cache .
On a very low tide you could certainly see the sediment/mud at the Marina today (see pic)Thanks for the Earth Cache
A while back, jetstar had flights to Launceston from Brisbane for $150 return. What a great opportunity to grab a new state, some new caches and meet some new people. Oh there was one other purpose, North Tassie. My caching buddy feels the cold so was a little sceptical to the timing and had second thoughts to the idea when I mentioned it, however flights were booked and the weekend finally arrived. Off the plane and over to get the car, all sorted and straight up to North Tassie. Job done I can relax now, that cache has just filled my Jasmer and my Ausmer. It was a nice walk in those grass plants are pretty thich. I was so happy to get this one. even got a pic for the occassion. Then it was time to grab a couple more before checking into the room and then off to tonight's event.THis earth cache was one that we stopped off for. A very interesting location and I am not sure what the wall will do as the water can still get in around it but what do I know I have just arrived here. I enjoyed this cache it was in a nice spot. Thanks, answers were sent by team leader, Triple turmoil.
Six months ago on a very warm Brisbane day, Chamad found cheap return flights to Launceston. So with little thought, but 6 months to plan, the flights were booked - for a whirlwind 3 day weekend (travel time included). This was day one with the arrival in Launceston about 3pm. Enough time to get some caches before an event dinner and then get some more caches until late into the night. Thank you for giving me a reason to actually take the time to learn about the area, rather than walking quickly past.
After returning from our travel group's outing, I was able to get three more finds in Launceston during the afternoon. Answers to the questions posed were sent to CO.
2nd earthcache found and one that has been on my list for a while, this was quite interesting and has shown me a few things i didnt know before.TFTC
Well, I was an interesting little virtual that had me on a nice walk along the deck. Thanks for the fun and info on this really cool location.
I have sent my answers to the CO, hopefully I will get a pass mark. It was lovely walking along the waterfront collecting the info for this cache. TFTC

One of two caches found today while in Launceston. Answers collected and sent to the CO. An interesting EC. We were surprised by the amount of muggles here.
Thanks for the EarthCache Ryan00!

After doing some work locally and before heading south, I grabbed a couple of caches to fill in a spot on my calendar.
Enjoyed the walk around as I gathered the information required, and as a result, was able to grab the other nearby cache without having to backtrack.

We have been in Tasmania for the last week as part of a group of 11 New Zealand cachers. Today we are leaving Launceston and heading north for another week, while the rest of the group goes back to Hobart, and are flying home tomorrow. After checking out of our hotel we spent some time doing a few more local caches including this earthcache. We enjoyed the wander to, and between the waypoints observing the estuary and the flood protection levees. One of the photos on the cache page illustrates how important this infrastructure is. Thanks for an interesting and informative earthcache. Adding a favourite point.
A group of us (TrinityNZ, kiwicouple, G-2, Pagenz, NZ_B, Jude_E, GraciesGPSfun, supernanny, Net61 and myself Gorby = 11 human beings) from New Zealand have come over to cache in Tasmania, stayed at Hadley Orient Hotel in Hobart for the last 3 nights. Stayed our first night last night here Launceston. This is our 5th day here. I have G-2 (driver) and Pagenz with me in our rental.
Me and Pagenz walked the meters to get this one, loved the info here and at the the other WP. New Zealand has fallen victim to floods of recent, we had a storm that killed well over a 1000 homes then topped off with cyclone gabriella, anyway I don't thinks that's the end of it, I suspect more will be on the way. My home managed to dodge a bullet - mostly.
Thanks for the EC Ryan00, answers have been sent to you on our behalf.

On the way back from Bay of Fires and decided on one more Earthcache for the day, this was it. A nice walk along the boardwalk gathering answers, will send the answers shortly.
Day 5 and our outing from Launceston had us heading over to the aptly named Bay Of Fires. There were a couple of sets of roadworks which caught us out and we detoured via Deedle Dim Road. Called in to a closed trout fishing river hoping to spot a trout and saw a second (for this trip) platypus so that was a good start to the day. More great stuff seen, thanks Tasmania.
We had a weeks holiday booked in Tasmania as a way of celebrating mrs capperz's 60th birthday. What can I say but WOW. What an awesome state and was everything we'd seen and heard about this gem of a place. My main PQ had only Earthcaches and Virtuals and aside from an old cache for my missing month stats I only turned the GPS on when we were stopping somewhere anyway, what a great way to tour a place. Managed one complete set of Ad Labs at the airport, and started another 6 adventures with no intention to complete. Over 50 'real' caches were completed and left behind a couple of trackables to continue their journeys.
I will upload the associated pictures and answers over the next few days or so, need to start to make a dent in my finds backlog.
Oh, and thanks to all COs for their hides, much appreciated for this New Zealander.

Answers sent to CO after a lovely wander up and down the area before our little cruise up the Gorge. Really interesting facts about the water and the flooding in the area…such a beautiful town and looking forward to our couple of nights here. Tftc
Thanks for the cache we really enjoyed finding the answers while walking along the tamar and north esk rivers.
We found Flooding and Sedimentation while out and about on a glorious spring day.
An energetic walk along the river, with the chill off the river making our ears tingle, led us to both waypoints where we gathered the neccesary answers
Thanks Ryan00 for hiding this cache so that we could come and enjoy ourselves

For the last couple of nights we have been close to this EarthCache in all directions. Unfortunately it was wet, cold and miserable and not the kind of weather to be out having a phat time. Today was sunny and hot (and by hot I mean cold, just not super-freezing).
It was also our chance to head over the bridge we saw last night from the restaurant but there is only so much body heat to go round when tour dunk and freezing.
Luckily we were on a wine tour yesterday where our guide knew all about the floods, silt and the local protest for cleaning the area up. Like I said, we were on a wine tour and so forgot everything he said so luckily we had this EC to remind us. tftc

We enjoyed a cool rainy walk along the Tamar River today. What an interesting spot!

GrimRaider and are exploring Tasmania for a couple of days. We took a boat ride on the Tamar River today and I had just enough time to find the answers for this cache before stepping aboard. It was great to learn more about the river before taking the Discovery Cruise. Thanks for the hide Ryan00

We took the 50 minute cruise today, but before we went we learned about the sediment in the river Tamar. TFTC

Heading on to dusk I stopped to pick up my third earth cache for the day

Found answers at wp this afternoon and sent to CO. Had a great stroll along here before we headed for the playground. Great to read the history, my great grandparents lived in Invermay during the 1929 flood which had water at roof level. Tftc.
Very interesting read. Thanks for making read these sign that I mostly just walk past.
Getting away for a mountain biking trip with friends, we had planned on a holiday to Derby during 8-13/02/2022. For the most part, we spent our days MTB-ing Blue Derby (Black Stumps) trails, as well as riding Blue Tier Forest Reserve's trails, such as the upper section of Bay of Fires, Blue Tier and Atlas. There was an opportunity to find a few geocaches in Launceston before driving to Derby, and on our final day with our flight departure in the evening, we travelled back via Scottsdale and Lilydale, and visited a few spots around Launceston such as Cataract Gorge and Trevallyn Dam.
Today, the rest of our group were flying into Launceston, and then it was largely a travel day to Derby via Scottsdale. We did have some time in the morning to see Launceston, so after our breakfast, we headed into the CBD/mall where we met the local Tasmanian Devils, and then walked around Royal Park to admire the views across the River Tamar.
This was an enjoyable EarthCache to complete whilst walking around Royal Park. The photos in the description showing the floods that have occurred in recent times were interesting. We made our way around and collected the answers at both Waypoint 1 and Waypoint 2 (I do think Question 5 could be clearer that that answer is at Waypoint 2), and I've messaged those to the CO for EarthCache validation. I also think that is nothing is completely flood proof, and that rains and floods are just a part of Mother Nature that we need to accept sometimes in extreme circumstances. Thanks Ryan00 for the EarthCache placement and organisation.

Did the hard yards on this earth cache on 25th Jan, and yet to receive a response from C.O., so we are taking the liberty of logging this one anyway. Enjoyed the stroll along the river front, which was somewhat cluttered with Mona Foma equipment for "Midnight Oil" and other performances. Just the usual local foot traffic about when we collected the data. TFTEC Ryan00. We learnt a bit from this exercise.
Had a pleasant walk along the shoreline if the estuary, learning new geological knowledge and some specifics about Tamar River. Thanks for making an earth cache from this.
Trying to avoid the centre of town but had to come and collect the answers to this one. TFTC Ryan00
Last night in Tasmania so went for a walk after dinner.
Lovely place for a walk popular with dog walkers too.
It took a little bit for me to find one of the signs but after a bit of a hunt I found it.
Thanks for making me stop and smell the roses Ryan00

Down in Tassie for a break before Christmas and continuing our travels around the country, wow the countryside is absolutely glorious. Happy to say we came up trumps here and walked away with a smiley TFTC
After taming a tiger in the mall, drove down to the Tamar waterfront to check the flood level. Beautiful accommodation around this area and was interesting to see the Rugby Union club.
Quite a bit of foam supposedly caused by the excess water churning upstream around the gorge area. Great to see the black swans and ducks enjoying their water playground. Thanks to Ryan00 for highlighting this spot for a visit.

Headed down to the waterfront to seek the information for this Earthcache. The water was very foamy, we asked a local exercising muggle if it’s always like this, but she assured us that it was from the rainfall and it coming down the hills. Answers sent.
Down in the Apple Isle with JACS and TeamARF for a week or so to hunt some caches and traipse about having adventures. Fab puzzles and wonderful countryside. Awesome caches all round! We are thoroughly enjoying this adventure and grabbing some very well maintained oldies awesome locations. The aim was Tassies oldest and visiting some cute towns today plus some tricky maths!!! And of course for my benefit a cemetery or two! Tftc
TFTC found for international earthcache day, the only reason to find one.
Found on our Launceston holiday. What a lovely walk along the water to grab the answers. Loved the mini Berlin Wall of sorts too! A local at WP1 told us about how muddy it gets when the tide is lower; wow! TFTC Ryan00!
An evening run. Catching the sunset over the water after a run through the gorge. Beautiful day out exploring. Great to learn about the history here. I visited the power station yesterday. Thanks
Collecting a few geocache around Launceston today in between meetings to finish off improving our stats for May.
This was the last one for the day. This earth cache has been on our radar for a long time but it was just one of those that we kept thinking we would get to later and well until today we had not. Parked up and took a nice longer stroll to the first way point and retrieved all relevant info then continued the lovely brisk walk to second way point. Answers sent to CO. TFTEC

Hello, We found your cache on day #10 of our Lap year trip.
Selling up our hobby farm in South Gippsland and putting everything in storage we are now living on the road full time in our caravan and ‘doing a lap’.
Sorry for the generic log, time, data and reception are all factors in the decision to use a copy and paste log, we will always endeavour to leave a photo or two with each log and always leave a favourite point and unique comment(S) where applicable for the truly outstanding caches.
Earth, Virtual, letterbox handmade and Gadget caches are always at the top of the list for us to find.
Thank you for being one of the CO’s who supplied us with a cache to find today.
Cache in good condition.

Out for a morning stroll along the river and to pick up the answers for this EC. My muggle family and I enjoyed the walk and soon had everything we needed. I noticed a few signs from locals that they aren’t too happy about the mud.

This is my first Earthcache visited in Tasmania. [^]
Having arrived in Tassie with Cybergran V and her MuggleHubby just yesterday, we were being chauffeured around by my brother and his wife who were as keen to show off their new home to us and we were to show off geocaching to them.
It didnt take long to glean the info needed from both waypoints and our answers have been submitted for scrutiny by the Earthcache Gurus at the other end of the messenger service.
TFTEarthcache Ryan00. It was a great day for our family to be walking the waters edge.

dalerious and I enjoyed gathering the information for this Earth-cache whilst the Muggle members of the family busied themselves taking photos.
Logging in anticipation of the answers we submitted tonight being approved.

On a lazy day around town we stopped by here and had a look at the wharf area around this EC. We walked around and gathered all the info required without any dramas. Also found a couple of nearby traditionals at the same time.
It was really interesting for us looking at the water and surrounds today because we were also here in 2016 when the river flooded then. We remember seeing the volume of water coming down the gorge and how high the water reached, that was amazing but devastating at the same time.
Thanks for setting up the EC and educating us on the area.

Interesting information and a beautiful walk along the river - what more could anyone want from an earth cache. Thanks for placing it - answers messaged to CO
While we were in Launceston recently we gathered the information required to complete this Earthcache. My grandmother and great grandmother with my father in a pram watched the Perth Bridge at Perth get swept away in the 1929 floods which also inundated this area as well. The forces of water can be terrifying. Thanks for showing me the information boards as it has been a long time since we walked along the Tamar River here. It is a lovely area now. TFTEC
Thank you for your earthcache which i found tonight. I have messaged you the answers. I have seen firat hand a few floods in the area. My grandfathers childhood home was in Hope St and waa flooded above the door handles.
I had the chance to see flooding ypstream today. At GZ it was a high tide a short time ago, with lots od dwbris and foam. Water above the usual high tide mark.

During our journey through Australia (from Darwin to Melbourne through the outback, one week on Tasmania and back from Sydney to Cairns) I found this cache.

With a bit of time off and a chance to get away from Sydney was what I needed TeamMerlin was also free at the time. So Tasmania seemed to be a good place to spend about a week. It has been a while since I last went when I was there for photography and before I knew about Geocaching. We found a lot of nice caches including one of the oldest caches which was a Hide month I was missing. A lot of puzzles had been solved either before we went down or the night before between us. While here we also visited a lot of EarthCache and learnt a lot more about what makes up Tasmania
TeamMerlin sent the answers in and approval was given. Thanks for bringing me to the area and thanks for the lesson and the EarthCache Ryan00

We are in Tessie for a few days based on Hobart. Our friend their had to relocate a coach back to Launceston so we hitched a lift with him and then had 3 hours on this lovely Sunday morning for some caching.
We did a big loop walk and found 11 caches, enjoyed a coffee and an ice cream and then ready for pick up and back to Hobart.
Hoping for a scallop pie on the way back to town.
We’ve been to Launceston before but it was BC so was nice to revisit a few spots including seeing the monkeys again.
This was our first cache for the morning. Collected the info and will send answers when back in Hobart. Very interesting info on the boards. TFTC

We did the first half of this earthcache before the river cruise and the second half afterwards. I was surprised to hear on the trip how low the tide went when it was out. There was plenty of information on the cruise and it was interesting to hear about the flooding and see the steps that feature in your photo. Answers sent. Thanks for setting this earthcache.
We are holidaying in Tasmania at the moment and today saw us in Launceston enjoying lunch on the waterfront followed by a cruise on the Tamar River this afternoon. We heard all about sedimentation in and flooding of the Tamar as well as a whole lot more from our skipper, so I probably could have completed the logging requirements for this earthcache without visiting the 2 waypoints ... but to make sure I got things right, I made a quick photo stop at each of the waypoints after we hopped off the boat.
I enjoyed learning about what has been done to mitigate the problems of sedimentation and flooding in the Tamar, so thanks for expanding my understanding of such issues Ryan00.
