the park was overruneverywhere, every direction, were folk of all ages and shapes and sizes decked out head-to-toe in yellowcaps, t-shirts, badges, jumperssigns, banners, carsall a sunny shade of daffodil yellow weaving through the yellow throng, we looked positively paleeven our red kayak looked drabbutthat is fine with us we were not here to stand out we were here to slip into the water like platypi and disappear across the lake on the plus sidethe yellow folk had their own entertainment we heard every word and every acoustic guitar strum halfway across the lake nothing like a soothing soundtrack to a paddle and even more on the plus side they had a food truck with mighty fine souvlakissothanks for the adventure thanks for the paddle and, above all, thanks for the souvlakis

Lady membsec is in a local large medical centre participating in trials which gave me the opportunity to walk the lake on a fine morning. Plenty of work still going on with hundreds of workers dismantling the Grand Prix structures. As a walked I reflected on the incredible waste of money when so much is required for basic needs. Solved quickly enough but now will need a boat to get it. Maybe next time!!!! Nice lunch close by after walk completed.

Love it love it love it. I had completely forgot about the Grand Prix coming up so that made my trip not so straight forward but the boating car park was open. I also turned up bang on sunrise so the parking was free too. Perfect conditions for it. Gps coords had me 5m out but something caught my eye. Thanks for the adventure.

Well I'd solved this one many orbits of the sun previously.Today I thought would be a good day to put a smiley on it.Hey maybe even have a paddle too.So at 6am on flat waters I was soon dodging many a swan and water bird.Thought I'd even lap the island out here. Then before I new it I was skimming reeds and back on dry land.Oh did i mention I signed a rather dry log book too.Fav for the fun.TFTC Smile

Well, what an adventure this was.We passed by the plaque to obtain our numbers and had a pretty good idea of where we were headed! Some plans hatched in advance meant that a couple of vessels had been brought along today - some of which were ostensibly more seaworthy than others...We started with Kristysadventures' blow-up dinghy which MAY have resulted in a couple of problems.MAYBE the two of us exceeded its recommended weight limit and MAYBE the structural integrity (or lack thereof) of the inflatable component was making me fold in on myself and MAYBE we started to take on water. We simply can't verify any of these claims. It's not as though there are photos or anything.Luckily, Snips and Co had a brand-new kayak waiting to go, which was probably a more reliable place to have started!Having only been kayaking the other week, this was a familiar process that went far more smoothly. Before long, I was gliding along the lake with a simply stunning paddle enjoyed on a fabulous morning! It was pretty cool to pass by so many birds on the way to gz where I looked back and called Snips and Co, LetThemEatCache and spiffy- from my waterproof phone pouch to check if Kristy was going to make it over as it certainly didn't seem as though she'd covered much ground!I was given the all-clear to retrieve the cache which I was fortunate to spot from a short distance away.Seems like a pretty simple exercise: paddle the kayak up so it's parallel, then grab the container! As I slowly maneuvered my way in, I noticed a factor that it seems nobody else has mentioned in their logs; a whole hoard of weirdly lanky water spiders descended from the lower branches and rudely boarded my vessel!I was now far too concerned with flicking them off the kayak to bother making an actual attempt at grabbing the cache, so I retreated towards the open water and took a few minutes to ensure I was definitely spiderless. The cache was right there... but I couldn't let my trusty crew down!I ventured back in, executed the greatest water-based parallel park known to history, yoinked the cache, and got the hell out of Dodge! Two more travellers had joined me in the process, and they were duly thrown overboard.I tried to open the cache but found it a little difficult whilst also trying to remain afloat, so I decided to chuck it between my feet and return to shore where the other three keenly awaited. The necessary logging duties were completed with the benefit of dry land to provide a sturdier location for doing such things! From there, Kristy bravely volunteered to return the cache to its spot after my brief on the dangers that awaited her.Her journey on the kayak was flawless, proving that her earlier issues very much lay with her vessel rather than its captain!Quite the experience was had with this cache - plenty of fun, lots of laughs and all in a very pretty location - not much more you could ask for on a Saturday, I reckon! Thanks to ohbeeone for placing this multi here! Smile

The sun was out, we were near the lake, Kristy had her new toy and the air was full of anticipation! To find out the full story, please read KristysAdventures and LetThemEatCaches logs they have done a fine job of regaling the adventure. For me, it was my new kayak King Georges first outing albeit without me Smile King George travelled smoothly and led Brain safely to the cache. I was there in spirit and having fun. Thanks ohbeeone, a great day and a fun cache

**Acrospire II, 27th Jan 2024**Ive never laughed so hard in my life. I mean, who looks at the weight limit of an inflatable raft, then goes nah, were only 35kg over (give or take). ITLL BE FINE???But I had to contain my laughter lest I be made to paddle out to no mans island myself. So I watched the antics of the Frankston Line crew do their best, going in circles and not making much progress towards the island. Next it was [@Kristysadventures](https://coord.info/PRXNC6Z) turn, but somehow she was sitting the wrong way in her newly launched blow-up dinghy. Or was it the oars were in the wrong way? No mind, she came back to shore when [@Snips and Co](https://coord.info/PR2TFBV) offered up her new snap-together kayak. Then Captain [@Brain](https://coord.info/PRD1CBH) (of Return Fire fame) came to rescue. He paddled out to the island and bravely (once the spiders had been swept aside) grabbed the container and brought it back to shore. Signing duties done, Kristy this time made better headway than before and swiftly returned the container without capsizing. Thanks ohbeeone for this fun hide. Cache on *Throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Explore. Dream. Discover.* **Mark Twain**-The **Ballarat GeoTour** ends on 4 March 2024! This cache was an epic adventure from the night it was first mentioned to it's eventual retrieval and return. An inner city T5 geocache seemed illusive and it was the talk of the town or at least the Frankston line crew at the Feast and Fizz welcome 2024 event. A plan was hatched to target this cache and a week or so later, I strangely found myself setting an alarm on a Saturday morning to go to the coffee with Albert event and meet my fellow sailors.. Just like Acrospire II, we caused quite a stir. Firstly amongst the swans enjoying the boat ramp, then the dog walking families and later with a real yachtsman who had no idea why I was yelling, whilst trying to paddle and stay afloat in the water, that yes, indeed I am heading over *that* way instead of tacking.. the stir was unlike how I imagine the reception for Joe White's boat was. I did not enlist an experienced yachtbuilder like Charlie Peel and instead my fine vessel was created by Mrs Kmart and a lot of 'hot air' from Mr [@spiffy-](https://coord.info/PR6VBPJ).... [@Snips and Co](https://coord.info/PR2TFBV) and [@LetThemEatCache](https://coord.info/PRWP5X4) surprisingly did not have any champagne to smash for the maiden voyage but they wished Brain and I a ton of luck. Their cheering led to success and we expertly traversed the mountains of swan poo and *elegantly* boarded my magnificent ship (AKA an inflatable raft). Our journey was short lived; with each row my craft was making too fine an acquaintance with the water coming on board... If at first you don't succeed, try try try again.... the crew had amazing patience and Snips and Co was incredibly kind to go and get her brand new still-in-the-plastic snappy kayak. Brain set out on the new kayak and I ventured back on the raft...but the teeny oars were not up to the task, and eventually the white flag was raised and Snips and Co rescued me back to shore. As I sat sadly stranded on the shore, we received word that Brain had bravely traversed the lake and battled spiders to retrieve the cache. Brain kindly brought the cache back with him, so we could experience the opening together Wink Our names were entered in the log, and the cache was securely fastened on the back of the beautiful new kayak. I paddled the cache homeward bound, and defied the odds to avoid capsizing or dropping the cache! Thanks ohbeeone for this fabulous adventure.

I bought a boat to get to Herring Island, so why not use it for this adventure as wellCheck!

For the cache, thank you ohbeeone! Had this worked out a while ago & waited for a ‘quiet’ calm day to paddle out on the geo-sup….. got that part correct, forgot about the excitement of younger sailors still out there!
Such an excellent size cache here in the city. The many layers of water proof we’re doing their job. Happy to sign the dry original log & leave the fresh new one for when needed.
Such a gem & privilege to bag this one.

A Saturday evening trip into the the city with Crustyvarmint to catch up with Ronice88 for a trip on the lake in Crustyvarmint's yacht. Of course we picked a night when traffic around the CBD was horrendous. Of course there was an event at the MCG - Billy Joel! The boat ride was quite relaxing and we soon had the cache and the log signed. A favourite point and thanks to oohbeeone for the cache.

10-Dec-22
Noice! Crustyvarmint, Lynjoh and I came here late in the day, after negotiating crazy Melbs Saturday arvo thick traffic. The lake was quiet, with only a few quackers and sleek swans in the distance to keep us company. Captain Crusty brought his faithful small tinnie, so the cache was easily found after a short row. Thank you ohbeeone. A favourite point from me!.

10-Dec-22
Ronice88, Lynjoh and I came here late in the day, after fighting our way through extremely dense traffic. The lake was nice and quiet, with only a few ducks and swans to keep us company.
We had brought a small tinnie with us, so the cache was easily found after a short row.
Thank you ohbeeone. A favourite point coming your way.

04-Dec-22
Staying close by so thought I would do a circuit of the lake with Arramagong. At the posted coordinates, we solved the final coordinates but definitely don't have the equipment or capacity to get there. Will leave for another time.

31-Jul-22
Found the first stage today, but I should have given it a go yesterday when I had my wetsuit and sailing dinghy with me! I’ll be back

28-May-22
Good one! I have meant to do this one ever since I started caching! Thanks for the pen!

24-Mar-22
It was a beautiful autumn afternoon and the T5 caches were calling. There were two on my list, and this was the first (the second, at Herring Isand, was unfortunately a DNF).

The area almost looked inaccessible amongst the business of setting up for the Grand Prix, but there was still a way through.

I checked off the numbers and planned my route on my trusty surfmat. In front of the yacht club, the water was busy with small yachts, noisy kids and a supervising speed boat. Thankfully, just around the point at the next boat ramp things were much quieter. So I dropped into the water and paddled off.

The swans honked hello and the city looked amazing from the water.

I made good progress, the coords were spot on, and I was very happy to spot the cache straight away, even from 30m out (thanks to the previous finder(s)).

TFTC ohbeeone, the geoforce felt strong today! Smile

13-Mar-22
Dalerious and I had just paddled Werribee River, and you would be right if you guessed that that would be it for the day. Nah, this cache was too important, too special and too god to pass by. So many times I watched the formula 1 cars drive around this circuit on tv. I would never have believed that I would one day not only drive on the same road, but launch a kayak into Albert Park Lake. The water was clear as the finest crystal. Storm clouds were brewing but we stayed safe and dry and took in the beauty of this place.
I have packed in so much adventure in the last 12 months. How can I ever show my gratitude to this wonderful man, my man, dalerious Smile.
Thank you ohbeeone for this superb multi. Top marks for a top spot. Favourite given.

13-Mar-22
Having spent most of the day kayaking down the Werribee river, catnap777 and I calculated we had just enough time left for one more T5 cache before booking into our overnight accomodation in anticipation of attending the Pi Day Event at BlackRock (the other side of the bay) the next morning. Cool
As there are not too many T5 Multi caches out there that don't require abseiling rope, this one had been placed high on our wish list some time ago and this was our chance to go for it. Razz
I can honestly say that this cache certainly granted us a very unique view of the city, and with the whole area too ourselves this late in the day, a serenity few would get to enjoy. [^]
Thanks for a surprisingly romantic cache ohbeeone. You see, this long weekend cat' and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary of sharing adventures together. We met through geocaching and have been inseparable ever since, and this is exactly the kind of thing we love doing most. [:X] [:X]
My last fav given. Big Grin

Found at 2:33 pm.
Fleabag- has been talking about getting the kayak cache on Albert Park Lake for some time so today was the day. It was super quiet today with only a couple of cars in the car park. Kayak was setup and away we went. I thought this might be difficult to spot but saw if from 10 metres away.
We signed the log and headed back to the other shore and stopped on the ramp amongst the swans and a fisherman not far away.
Thanks ohbeeone for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

06-Jan-22
Spiffy- is currently on leave and not far from my office so I packed the kayak this morning for a cache tonight. Finished work early and picked him up. GZ launch was quiet so we set-up the kayak and headed out. Quite a shallow lake. Spotted cache instantly and back through the swans to land. Great fun.

Thanks to ohbeeone for the placement and fun.

I had this solved for about 2 years but never had the means to get it. But I recently got a geoyak for my birthday and I thought this was a good place to try it (within 10km and finally amazing weather). It was a bit tricky to get to the exact location with low hanging sticks, but thankfully was easy to find and grab. Thanks for the cache and the adventure! Photo with swans

I have a feeling I know where it is, but will need to come back. The terrain is 5, so I’m assuming I need to maybe get on someone’s shoulders. I’ll be back!!

Found it super good spot!

23-Dec-19
Had a crack at this one but realised I was missing an important item to retrieve the cache, I was going to ask someone to help but I'll leave it for another day.

13-Sep-19
Serves me right for not reading the terrain rating before solving the coords I’ve sailed on this lake many times as a teenager with Sea Scouts, but alas no vessel today.

26-Dec-18
I have been waiting for a quiet day like Boxing Day morning to pop down here with my yak.
Nice day on the water, only one about really. Made my way through the ducks swans and water weed to your cache.
Second cache that I have found here.
Thanks ohbeeone

After our Parisian trip in the first week of the Easter holidays, we (i and my husband Voske1967) went for 3 weeks to the other side of the world to enjoy the friendly atmosphere, food, landscapes and culture of Australia. Of course, geocaches were also searched for and found in Perth, Monkey Mia, Denham, Newman, Port Hedland, Darwin, Alice Springs, Sydney, Tasmania, Canberra, Melbourne ... . This trip downunder will stay with us for a long time! It was pretty hot in Australia for the autumn season

17-Feb-18
I have had my eyes on this cache for a while. I collected the required information a couple of years ago but for one reason or another I have not gotten around to getting the actual cache.

Today I was determined to grab it. I loaded up the car with the kayak and bike last night so that I could make an early start. When I got to the lake there was a fair bit of sailing activity and also weed clearing.

I got the yak into the water and soon made it to the GZ where I could easily find the cache. With all signed and returned I decided I would have a bit of a paddle before returning to shore and start the next part of the day on my bike. TNLN. TFTC.

What do you do on 37 degree day?
Go T5 adventure caching, of course. Jacko, buhfuhguh and I started off with some tree climbs and then headed to the waters to cool down a little.
After St Kilda beach we headed for Albert Park Lake.
I'd been wanting to paddle here for several years. With the incentive of a cache here I finally got to the 'island'.
Thanks for the multi, ohbeeone.

T5 caching day in Melbourne!

Arrived here with Buhfuhguh and Pacman and the sun was absolutely belting down - 40degrees the car said. A quick simple bit of maths and soon enough I was in the water paddling amongst Geese, Swans and Ducks towards the island.
I kept getting distracted by the awesome views of the city - always cool to do an urban paddle!
Made my way back to the boat ramp, swapped yaks with BuhFuhGuh and smashed a can of coke. Hot day - however awesome fun! Thanks to the CO for placing.

13-Dec-17
Last T5 in the city with Jacko and pacman for me. With sunburn being a real possibility for me at this point I was awful hessitant of hoping out of the shade but as it became my turn to venture forth through the lake I quickly made way to the final gz. Even 30m out I could see what I was looking for and soon enough I lay my hands on this interesting cache. With the log signed I soon headed back with the wind going against me and my once dry pants now wet from the waves. Anyways thanks for the cache and the little adveture.

Easy work out coordinate after collect the clue...
Easy to get my kayak from the car and put it in the water and kayaking away.
Two swan and a baby one were paddling away.
So happy to find the cache.
Thanks ohbeeone

Well I have to thank a few people in regards to me getting this cache. Firstly a muggle friend Rosemary who lives nearby for taking my "what's the wind and weather like where you are" call (it wasn't good where I was). "Not too bad" was the response. Secondly The Tritonz who told me the name of the park where the cache was, and let me know of high winds where they were. (I had rain where I was, but no wind. Until I went to load my kayak up, of course! They were also the ones who told me what unlove was. While searching for kayaking cache's, I came across this one and realised it hit on my two interests, kayaking and unlove! (A newly last week acquired interest). Anyway, fast forward to me loading the kayak up in the wind and rain, driving down the freeway trying to keep my poor little car within its lane, only to find a nice clam lake with kids practicing sailing and using remote control boats upon arrival. I waited for the parents to be all eyes on their kids, launched my kayak and paddled over to make a quick find. Signed the log book, replaced the cache and return to the mainland! A park I will be back to at some stage to do the other caches here. TFTC ohbeeone

31-Dec-16
Unfortunately I was relegated to support, security and camera crew on this one with my partner in crime doing the deed and getting the wet toosh. Disappointing, but I guess somebody has to do it, and I probably would have just paddled myself into a whilrlpool anyway with my goofy arm. Great cache hide!
Many thanks ohbeeone from the Wacky one Cool

31-Dec-16
We took it in turns using kayaks after having a BBQ brunch event nearby.

After Alansee and maccamob had return.
It was TeamAstro and my turn paddle out to sign the log.

Thank you Alansee and maccamob for bring your kayaks

Easy found, signed and returned.
Thank you for the cache ohbeeone.

31-Dec-16
Luckily Maccamob and Alansee had brought their kayaks to the nearby Happy New Year Event (GC6XHK6 Event Cache 2016 Gregorian Calendar Last Day) today.

There was an opportunity for me to paddle across the lake - I'd solved this one when I decided to have my event near here so why not.

I stripped off and got a wet bum - paddled over with Gavin and we found the prize right on GZ. Good numbers. Big GrinCool

There were no white caps, white pointers or ocean liners to avoid. A lovely paddle on Maccamobs near new virgin kayak. I think I got the silver for that. Thanks heaps David for letting me use your craft. Much appreciated. [^]

Thanks to ohbeeone and *clear skies* and Happy New Year from TeamAstro. Cache the planet! Pics included.

31-Dec-16
Found by Mary & David at 1120. We came in to Albert Park this morning to attend Astro's "2016 Gregorian Calendar Last Day" Event, and had arranged with Alansee beforehand to bring David's new kayak specifically to get this cache. David had worked out the final after our last Event here, Mary made sure to collect all David's worldly goods before he paddled out on the lake, but all went well. He and Alan had no trouble finding the cache, and returned to shore without mishap. Then Astro and gwd.aussie took over and made the trip again to put their names in the log. Our thanks to ohbeeone.

31-Dec-16
I have had the final location for this one ever since it came out more than 2 years ago. Despite having a craft I somehow never brought it here until Mr Maccamob was bringing his to the event. So the two of us took off a bit like in one of those kiddies stories of boating on a pond. Once near GZ he spotted the find and after a sit admiring the view it was back to the shore. All in all great fun, thanks ohbeeone.

*20/05/2016, Found @ 11:30 PM, Find # 5367.*

After attending the Friendly Floatees event on Herring Island and as I had worked out GZ for this one earlier on, I decided that it was time to find this one while I had my kayak on board.
The good thing about heading out at this time of the day, parking isn't an issue and its free.
I dropped the yak into the water and I was soon on my way out to a location where I had visited before to find a different cache.
Finding this one certainly did not pose any problems, the log was soon signed and I headed back to the car.

**Thanks to ohbeeone for placing this cache.**

25-Mar-16
Well this one was the one we were keen to have a crack at today armed with a trusty canoe that we carted in from out of town (well actually a looong way out of town) and a keen sense of adventure Happy Feet and myself unloaded the beast and set off with the co-ord's we had worked out 10 minutes earlier. It was a little choppy and windy but otherwise we set off and soon arrived at the gz and after a short search found the good sized cache container. Thanks ohbeeone for the cache and the challenge, certainly glad to get this one done today.

25-Mar-16
This was a perfect day to grab this cache as on Good Friday there were very few muggles and parking was ample. Grabbed the info needed to get the co-ords. Launched the canoe into the choppy water and carefully made our way to GZ. After a bit of manoeuvering, the cache was found and signed.
Thanks ohbeeone for placing & maintaining the cache for us to find.

[:(!] Thanks for an awsome effort.
[:X] Struck up a bit of conversation with a bloke outside the yacht club and it turned out to be the CO, he said he needed to go over to the island to check out the cache and offered me a ride in the rubber dingy which made life so easy [:X]

Nice surprise that we could do / find this cache in combination with our event! Very Nice.

Team Omam from the Netherlands has only one aunt left. And as she will have her 100th birthday early February, we decided to join the birthday party. But …., she lives in Sydney Australia! An excellent opportunity for us to explore this continent once again and find Geocaches along the way. We will do a 3.5 weeks trip! At places where we will stay for a few days (Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Darwin), we will organize Meet and Greet events. We will try to find mainly caches with high favorite points, caches from 2000 and 2001, earth caches, webcam caches, virtuals and letter box hybrids.

A lovely afternoon at the lake with 88andy88 and ahomburg. n0w0rries showed up so he and ahomburg paddled one canoe while 88 and I took our sit-ons across. A leisurely paddle and a nicely hidden cache.
Must mention my "elegant" disembarkment back at base. Big Grin
Cheers for bringing us out here, ohbeeone! [^]

Find #6940

Headed in towards the city and Albert Park Lake to meet up with Oz Hockey Chick and 88Andy88 for a bit of a paddle, eventually heading to the event nearby. I had not cached too much in the area, so I had a few to find in the area. After I entered the final coords into my GPS, the location was very familiar as I had done the previous Trad in almost the same place. Andy and OHC had their own sit on Kayak's and I joined n0w0rries in his canoe for a bit of a paddle. It was a warm summers afternoon, so perfect for it. Once at GZ, it took a bit of tooing and froing to finally locate the container.

Thanks to ohbeeone for the cache. TNLN

Found it! Off to Albert Park to meet the Dutch (team Oman) at their event. We had planned to bypass this cache as we arrived a fair bit later than we wanted too and without a suitable mode of transport, however at the suggestion of a number of others and the offer from n0w0rries to borrow his trusty vessel, we decided to have a go at it. Kelly did the backgound work to get us some workable co-ords and Mark teamed up with our event hosts for the final push. In fading light they powered their way across to the target GZ and were soon in posession of the cache. Great to get our hosts an Aussie T5 before they fly out and a really fun cache for us...TFTC...☺

Very cool and interesting history lesson learnt here....That's what makes caching awesome....The knowledge we pick up along the way.
This was a great little multi and on this day with an event coming up we thought we would finally pick up the solved multi and put our Yaks into use and paddle about the lake. Was 30+ deg and there was no one out on the lake today....
Plenty of pic-nic ers but no water travellers although a large group of young lass's decided they would strip down and head to another island but that is another story.
Thanks for the great little multi and good to finally get this smiley on the map.

Out with geowife and Vanessa&aodh in Melbourne city getting a few caches and meeting the dutchies TFTC.

Fabulous Sunday morning for a paddle. Kayaks and paddle boats $20/30 mins or $30/hour. Had solved this in winter and had to wait until we were actually both in Melbourne with spare time. Frequently at MSAC for diving or VIS for work and today there was a big event on limiting access around the lake. Coords all good and cache safe and dry. Will come back tonight to Meet the Dutch when things have quietened down. TFTC

A nice paddle in our canoe with the assistance of ahomburg.
OzHockeyChick and 88andy88 in their kayaks.
The crossing was uneventful and the cache was found after a short search.
Signed and replaced.

A few other teams used our canoe to get a smiley here today too, including the CO of the "Meet the Dutch, Melbourne!" event.

Thanks For The Cache ohbeeone

Out for a canoe ride before the Meet the Dutch, Melbourne! event. Sammi from lukie1987 and I got in n0w0rries's trusty canoe and paddled towards to the island. We were both a little worried about tipping, being immortalised on an iPhone and seeing ourselves on Australia's Funniest Home Videos, but we did really well. Sammi's long-lost canoeing skills came back to her and we were soon at the island. It took a little work to find the cache, and the afternoon sun was surprising bitey. We got there in the end, and on the paddle back we enjoyed the calm lake, the black swans, the Eureka tower in the distance and the sight of absolutely no-one watching out for us in case we'd tipped over and were dead. Thankfully two yellow minion t-shirts were sighted at the jetty and lukie1987 and n0w0rries helped us very gracefully alight from the canoe. Thanks ohbeeone for the fun adventure and to everyone who helped us get out there.

Meeting up with abl973 this was our target, the weather could not have been better - low winds, warm and sunny. An ideal day to attempt this cache. A nicely sized container and a great experience.
Thanks to ohbeeone.

I met up with Square_Pegs at the lake to have another go at finding this one after a recent DNF....definitely a nice day to go for a paddle which I really enjoyed. The co-ords were smack on just like the last visit but this time a beam of sunlight in the right spot highlighted the cache and turned this into one of those really satisfying finds. Thanks ohbeeone for the history lesson, the big cache container and the cool adventure to score a smilie.

Condition was excellent.

With a Friday spare and it being a nice sunny day I got the boat and the Jeep sorted and headed off to the ramp and a quick paddle over good water but all that was found was part of the cache label...I'm certain I tapped in the right co-ords. The CO was good enough to confirm it's still there so I'll head back soon.

Find #1348

Had a loan of a kayak for a few weeks (thanks ahomburg) so decided to nail a few caches that I hadn't previously been able to access. I worked close to this one and had paid a visit to collect the info but of course always knowing the trip to GZ was going to be more challenging. In actual fact it was a breeze in comparison to some of the other kayak caches I had recently attempted. A nice gentle ramp to launch from and I didn't need to land (in fact I don't think you are allowed to) to pick up the cache. Steadied myself with an elbow whist I accessed the cache. Nice container in a secure spot. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited a trackable. Thanks for the cache ohbeeone.

Thanks for this really cool cache. Hired a paddelo today. Hard paddle out and tough lid. Thanks so much.

We had looked at this multi last year and decided that it would be best kept for the summer months when it was possible to hire transport to the area. Realising that the perfect timing almost slipped us by, we hot footed it down there this morning to sort out some water craft hire. Our mode of transport was a paddle boat this morning. We were certainly pedalling fast and not getting too far but we eventually made it to GZ where we spotted the cache quite easily thankfully. There were some great swaps. Thanks for the adventure ohbeeone, we loved it. Caching today with Tomstache.

My friend Zoe and I decided to come into town this morning to do three things: find Crawlspace III after we found #2 last week on a bike ride, find Acrospire II with the use of hired kayaks on Albert Park Lake, and have a darn good breaky. I am glad to report that all three of those things were achieved on a most brilliant expedition into the city Big Grin. After breaky, I stayed in the city to try and clear out all of the new city caches that I was yet to find. An array of caches were found, with some puzzles, a T5, and some easier ones in amongst the mix. We had an awesome time, and did some really cool things finding some of these caches. A total of 16 finds and 1 DNF for the day, which was much more than I was initially anticipating.

This was the 4th find of 16 for the day.

I always meant to come and get the cache that was previously on this island, but never got around to it. When talking to Zoe about this one the other day, we both agreed that we would come in one day and give it a go, hiring a kayak from the nearby Boatyard. Little did I know that the attempt would occur so soon!

After getting the kayak out of the shed and putting on our life jackets on, the next step was to get into the boat. Neither of us had been in a kayak for a long time, so this step was interesting. Eventually we were in and on our way to the cache.

After 5-10mins, we arrived within meters of GZ. The weather was slightly ominous, but it kept away for the time we were on the water.

We first went into a spot that turned out to be a few meters away from the cache, so after some maneuvers here and there, we entered the true cache spot. After a few moments, Zoe spotted it, and I was soon signing the log Big Grin

We absolutely loved this experience, being the first time I've ever been in a kayak to find a cache. I've found many T5s, but never with the use of a proper kayak. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Favourite point here, loved it. Thanks ahobeeone Big GrinBig Grin

I'd purchased a kayak the day before and was very keen to try it out. Albert Park Lake was suggested, so quiet1_au, GJMMelb and I headed there. I unloaded my two piece kayak and put it together - watched by people who stopped to look as they'd probably never seen a kayak like this. G did the preparatory work, hired a kayak from the nearby facility, and off we all went to GZ. A short paddle, quick find, not so quick to open the container, then a longer paddle back watching lots of swans. This cache was a lot of fun! TFTC, ohbeeone!

Found with regular caching team members lochb (who was christening her new geoyak) and GJMMelb (who hired one for the cache). GJMMelb gathered the information while we set about unloading our geoyaks and carting them to the jetties. Under overcast skies (yay!) and a few drops of rain we set off onto the crowded lake - crowded by dozens of swans and other waterbirds, and a heron (of the sailing dinghy kind) and despite a head-wind made good time to reach GZ where the cache was spotted and soon recovered and signed. A quick paddle to intercept some of the neck-tagged swans for photos (ID purposes) before we head back to the jetty before G's time was up. TFTC, I missed getting to the original cache so was glad to see this new one in its place Smile

I headed out today with Lochb and Quiet1_au. Lochb had a new kayak and was keen to try it out. This looked like a nice easy paddle to christen then new craft. We arrived early and there were very few people about (most still recovering from new years eve). I decided not to bring my canoe as it is too large. However, the boat shed was open so I was able to hire a kayak for $15. Q and L got there Kayaks ready while I went and got the information and then arranged a kayak. Having all got into the water we paddle out to the Island. The weather was overcast and there was only one other boat on the water. The lake was a bit choppy but we had no trouble getting to Gz. We all saw the cache before we got there and I went in and retrieved it. The cache was bit hard to open but B and I achieved this. Having signed the log and replaced we went and chased some swans before heading back. Thanks ohbeone

I boarded my galley Thursday morning and headed southeast towards the hidden treasure. The sun was out and there were no winds felt, so the waters were calm. As the ship was closing in on GZ, the treasure was spotted from afar. I glided beneath the under growth and anchored next to the hiding spot. Upon opening the capsule I was surprised at how much hoard was in it. I left a TB inside but took nothing out. It was difficult to get everything back inside. I placed the treasure back where I found it but covered it up a little more so it wasn’t so visible from afar. It was good fun - my first time visiting this bit of land. Thanks for the fantastic cache Ohbeeone. May the GPS be with you.

This was a very interesting cache for us. Members of our Scout Troop did it while attending a sailing regatta hosted by 1st Victorian Sea Scouts. The clue was a pretty easy, but as I'm a noobie at this, I got the co-ordinates mixed up. This is the first time I've seen Degrees / Minutes used as a reference. I thought they were either D/M/S, or decimal degrees, so it took us a fair while to find the location. Once at ground zero, it also took us a while to find the cache. I could offer advice to those looking to locate it, but I won't spoil the hunt for anyone. I felt this cache was a worthy enough place to droop of our favourite little trackable, a gorgeous little Aussie Geocoin. Thanks for a very interesting cache.

Greetings from Gunn Island
Weather is here.
Wish you were beautiful.

Well finally the bananas can relax on the lilo just off the coast in the crystal blue waters of Lake Albert Park.
On the horizon I can see the mainland as the local wildlife relax in our near vicinity.
Took a bit of an effort to get here as the guides and guide helpers had tried to lead us astray but we have now safely found the best part of the island to be
S37 50.(A+4)(B-2)(C-6)
E144 58.(A)(A+D)(C-1)
as opposed to some coordinate just South of the moon nor in StKilda Road. (I am sure these corrections will be made and mean nothing in the future).
Anyway the water here is just slightly warmer than the pouring ice water challenge that B1 will be taking up later this week.
But a swim is a swim and the appropriate swimwear was worn although there was plenty of laughter as the mainland was left.
It was satisfying to know the bananas were the first to discover the oasis as the winter ends in Melbourne.
Anyway can not just lounge around and write letters all day. Time to enjoy our break before work beckons tomorrow.
Thanks for the invite, friend of Princess Leah. I love this game.

As a sidelight to this history this club has produced some of the best yachtsmen in Australia and therefore the world, due partly to this little island.
While the prevailing wind would blow the island would continually produce unpredictable sailing conditions in such a repeatable small area. Racing around here would only be won by the best sailors with no luck involved.
Understand this is no mug sailing club here. To win here is a big badge of honor.

While the first part of the degrees and minutes were wrong, the error is easily corrected, but I note that in correcting this, you have changed the last digit of the south coord from C-6 to C-4. Is this correct?

18-Aug-14
Yes, it is correct. I had sat at spot for a while and it did not vary. The speed of publishing took me by surprise.

I think the clue in the listing is incorrect.

It should be

S 37° 50.(A)(A+D)(C-1)' E 144° 58.(A+4)(B-2)(C-6)

and not

S 144º 58. (A+4)(B-2)(C-6) E 37º 58. (A)(A+D)(C-1)

17-Aug-14
Whoops! have adjusted coordinates. sorry if you are on your way.
should read S 37º 50. (A+4)(B-2)(C-4) E 144º 58. (A)(A+D)(C-1)
