We are staying at Omarama and had a perfect day to head towards Benmore Power Station on our bikes bagging caches on the way. Many thanks for placing them in interesting places.
We were happy to read the hint and find it isn't under a matagouri - it wouldn't have been the first cache weve found under one of those! The new bush is nearly as nasty. TFTC.
Day5 on the A20 cycle ride from Omarama to Otematata (38km). The weather started off cool and cloudy but was soon scorching hot. MrJAG braved the prickles to find this cache, before getting back on our bikes and heading off down the trail. TFTC
Thanks hill55 for placing caches along this section of the trail, only had time today to pick up the ones I thought I couldn't easily access from the road as time is limited .
Will be back for the remaining caches one day soon.

A great day for a walk and grab a few caches around this area. After the terrible weather we have had up in this region lately a sorry sight was instore for us here today. There will have to be a good fix it job here for cyclists to go on this part of the A2O track. Cache was found safe enough so I placed it back so when they fix this track up hopefully the cache will be safely tucked away. TFTC hill55
No problems making the find. Nice to sign a brand spanking new log book.
Thanks for putting this here

Ran out of rocks to turn over.
Couldn’t see any likely spots for a 500ml container.

Not a find for me. I didn't go over the fence but had a look around. GPS not the greatest so I could have been off
In Omarama with BCD and our Saturday mission was to bike the A2O from Omarama to Otemetata. A lovely sunny autumn day made for great views along the way. Got very scratched up here and was just about to give up when spotted something...sure enough BINGO!! You do not need to get scratched up at all as cache is fully retrievable in its hiding place TFTC
Chose the line of attack and managed to retrieve the cache without too many scratches. TFTC
Who would be sadistic enough to place a geocache in matagouri? Not only that but there are heaps of them at GZ, also prickly roses, thistles, and at this time of the year even the viper’s bugloss is prickly. And it’s raining! Like others have done I searched a number of incorrect hint objects, getting wet, prickled, muddy and almost giving up in the process. But on the point of leaving- aha- there it is. Log duly signed, and I went on my merry way, home to dry out and extract a few prickles. Thanks- I think!
An enjoyable weekend enjoying the scenic McKenzie area, and finding some great caches along the way. On the bike for a few of the A2O trails. Perfect day for a ride. TFTC
In Omarama for a few days. Rode the OM / OT trail with the Grandkids and Liz. TFTC's. Not too many scars from the thorns
Now wandering eastwards from the campground. Bit of a cool breeze so flagged the kayaking in exchange for some walking...no bikes to be seen.
Hello from Perth WA
We found this while on our South Island adventure.
Wish we had bikes. We're gathering them as P&G's. A fair walk to this one, thanks for the step count

The play on words was not really appreciated! Our friends had gone on and the pressure was on to find the irrect bush. Thanks for bringing us here hill55
Found it. Doully spotted it as we were about to give up as muggles approached.

Had the opportunity for a long weekend in the area, was great to be back picking up unfound caches and some new ones. Many thanks to the CO's for placing and maintaining the caches. My apologies for the generic logging!
Not saying it's not here, just that my trainee cacher and myself weren't able to find it in the time we allowed ourselves (the rest of the party ride further and further ahead meanwhile). Another time. Maybe.
We decided to stop here for the night at the Holiday Park (because of the own shower and toilet to every side ) and just relax. But the weather was so fine that I made a little caching tour. A great area. It was a lovely walk in much sunshine. Quick find at all caches. Thanks for hiding and greetings from Germany!

GPS helped alot. But the keen eyes of a 9yr old spotted the cache. Lovely part of the A2O.
On a mission from Rolleston to Tekapo, Twizel, Omarama, Kurow, Waimate and home again. Found over 100 caches, which was the goal for the day. A bit drizzly for a start but beautiful sunshine through the Mackenzie. Thanks to all the CO's and apologies for the cut and paste.
Found with MrandMrsChosen1978 on our Waitangi Weekend road trip. This one had eluded us last time so it was good to finally find. Thanks for the hide.
Found by mrandmrschosen1978, with Granville86a, while on a road trip over Waitangi Weekend. We started off traveling through Central Otago and on up to the McKenzie Basin exploring Lake Ohau to Mt Cook one day, then we spent another day by heading down the Waitati Valley before heading back down south. As we explored these areas we found this cache (along the way. Thank you for the placement great to knock this one off after DNF'ing it last time
Heading down to Twizel for the long weekend for a get together with friends. Time for a bit of a drive/bike around the place to fill in time for the rest of the group to arrive.
This part of the A2O trail is great. Nicely off road with plenty of space. Thanks for the hide.
Thanks to the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

In Central for a Weekend. Small deviation to pick up a few on the way home. TFTC
Lots of rose hip bushes with only a few small 'Mata Gari' but it still took us a while. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
This one took longer than it probably should have but perserverance paid off. Found with debsnz
Lest we forget today is ANzac day. We stayed the night at Omarama and headed for the clay cliffs in the morning.
Then off we set on our bikes. We took our packed lunch. This was our lunch stop. A great place to stop by the lake.

There was so many of the hint objects to choose from! By the time I found the logbook I was very tempted to sign it in blood, but didn’t want to gros out cachers-to-come. Hope future cachers have a better nose for the spot than I did. When I did find it, I realized I had been over-estimating the mean-ness of the CO!
I decided to collect a few more of these, on foot, until the weather makes up its mind. I'd rather face Mata Hari than mata gari and I made this one so much harder for myself... TFTC!!
As the trail looked fairly flat along here, we got the bikes back out to ride around thee lake, which I thought I could cope with in the gear I was stuck in. TFTC
On day three of our A2O bike ride. This one took longer to find than others I stopped for along this trail - so many hint objects and rocks! On the point of giving up and it was located - cheers! Really enjoying this trail, TFTC hill55.
We wanted to do this series for quite some time - and this weekend we grabbed the bikes and started in Omarama. It was quite windy - but it was a tailwind and therefore it was great fun. Except for the time when the bikes got blown over by the wind while searching for the box. Two bikes, two GPS and therefore only have of the way to cycle. Enjoyed the series and are now moving on to the next section. Thanks for placing them all and quite a lot of smileys. Sorry for copying the log - but most of the caches were easy finds without getting to close with the GPS.
BaldEd and I had teamed up again and were working as a team for the rest of the day. One finds the cache while the other signs it. Seeing that the rest of this series are mainly downhill I felt that my gammy knees would stand up for the bike ride. Now to finish of the series we had started two days ago.
THANKS!!!
Cheers for the cache.

After lunching in Omarama Tufty and I headed out to seek more of the OM/OT caches on the Alps2Ocean cycle trail between Chain Hills and Sailors Cutting. Another nice quick find. I let Tufty 'find' this one. TFTC hill55
Definately learning to recognise some of the local flora around these parts. Stumbled across a mother sheep and her twin lambs who just watched in curiosity as I searched for the cache. CIH and SL. TFTC.
Another great find while slowly heading to the Christchurch Mega.
Thanks for adding to the enjoyment of this trip.
Had to walk this trail today as the winds were between 90-120kph!

This cache was one of approx. 350 found on a 5 day road trip with Moneydork who was on a brief visit to New Zealand.
We enjoyed a variety of caches in an area that stretched between Christchurch Dunedin and Pukaki.
Bitsprayer was with us today.
Thanks to the many people who have hidden and maintained the caches.

This cache was one of 350 found on a short trip back to New Zealand, which was principally organised so that I could attend my Great Grandmother's 100th birthday.
I have a great time and enjoyed a great variety of caches, most of which were new (ie published in the past couple of years ).
Thanks for all the great caches.

On the trail from east to Omarama, biked the tracks and some road, drove the rest. Liked the way these had relevant names and we enjoyed the ride.

Great bike ride along this section of the trail. If you are going to place a cache under a prickly bush you could at least spell it matagouri (Discaria toumatou). Otherwise it might upset a wild Irishman, TFTC. Less prickly than we first expected.
Another one that took ages to find, even after resorting to the cache page (which helped a little). Grass seeds in the socks were even scratchier than the Matagouri. A log for the series on #20.
Searched the area with Chosen1978 and had no luck, but only came away bleeding and battered.
Ouch ouch ouch...... spent at least half an hour looking at every possible site then retreated to adhere many sticking plasters...
Had an extended fight with the matagari and came off 2nd best. Managed to find the workmans shovel but the cache... no sign of it. I spent considerable time trying to find this one and eventually had to give up.
day trip to have a go at this series, not quite first but still great day of caching. lots of prickles to be had here. TFTC
Managed to find all of the caches in the series. Did them from the car and walking in and out from various access points. Quite a variety of hides. Thanks. Managed FTF on this one.
