Letting it go, the area isn’t as nice as it once was

02-Apr-21
Another DNF for this one

02-Apr-21
I think it’s gone

12-Mar-21
Sadly a DNF here today.
Gave this one a good 10 minutes checking anything that would contain a cache. Left a bit disappointed.
Thanks

10-Jun-20
Very overgrown in grassland but also tree shreddded alot of bark. Could not locate with tracker

29-Feb-20
No luck here, felt like I was doing more damage than good trying to find it so moved on.

05-Aug-19
Lucky quick find. TFTC.

14-Jul-19
Out and about on a very cold day doing some drivebys and sightseeing. This cache was our closest ‘detective ‘ cache to commence the current go campaign. Thanks for the great cache.

12-Jul-19
Cold wet and windy day. I was delivering invoices not far away, and this cache has a clue for the current souveneir challenge apparently, so I thought I'd duck down and see what all the fuss is about.

Found very easily. Nice example.

TFTC.

Many thanks to 4B_Ninja's for doing maintenance on this for me and replacing the lid Smile

16-Feb-19
Driving around the reservoir after the emerald event stopping at random caches nicely hidden signed and replaced...TFTC

09-Feb-19
I'll pop up around 27/2 to replace lid

12-Jan-19
As the previous found log stated it needs a lid. Log sheets just fell out. As a stop gap I have but a couple of pieces of bark in with log sheets to take up the extra space, so they can’t just fall out. Good hide. TFTC

11-Jan-19
Found it with SciFiRulz as team nicnax TFTC Smile

11-Jan-19
Found as Nicnax with PapaGrouch. Found on a caching expedition. The container has lost its lid so as soon as I lifted the camo the log fell out. I replaced it as found but it really needs a new lid. TFTC

11-Jan-19
This geocacher reported that the container is damaged.

09-Jan-19
Today we found Eucalyptus camaldulensis ~ Toomuc Valley on our travels. The Chief picked up the log which wasn’t in the cache container, it appears the cache container is in need of a new lid.

Thanks TeamThommo for being part of our geocaching fun.

This is a cache that I didn't have on my list to find this afternoon, but it popped up on the map as I was driving past so decided to try my luck. A quick look and feel and the excellent camo revealed itself. It suits the location extremely well and is very impressive. The lid is unfortunately missing, but the nature of the hide is keeping the log nice and dry.

Thanks to TeamThommo for placing this cache.

05-Oct-18
Damn good camo

11-Sep-18
A nice camo job here.
It seems that the lid has been lost and someone has improvised with an elastic band.
Thanks TeamThommo for the cache.
Chiefton!!!

19-Aug-18
Found with Eliott Geoson. Added a makeshift lid as there was none and log had fallen out.

04-Aug-18
This is a very well disguised cache but it did not take too long to locate. This is another nice area which without caches it would not take me to. The information about the tree is also extremely interesting and the time spent adding this information by co makes the journey a learning experience also. Thank you for the cache.

Catching up on some late logs.

We were at home when the sun came out and we thought we should go and do some caching. As we had solved the Anzac series not long after they came out this is where we headed and this one popped up on the screen as we headed towards them.

We enjoyed the information on the cache page and were certainly impressed by this magnificent old tree, what Mrs Crackers didn't enjoy was being bitten by a nasty bull ant so she left it to Mr Crackers to locate the well hidden cache which did take a little while but eventually our name was added to the log.

Thanks Team Thommo for the cache.

Find #4442

I haven’t been very good of late with keeping up my weekly early morning caching run but with needing to make a few extra finds for the hidden creatures souvenirs I had some extra motivation. It was up at 5am and heading out towards Pakenham in the dark so I could try the ANZAC series and some others nearby. Once I had found all the ANZAC series I realised I had time just to try two more before needing to head back to work. I overshot this one but once I had grabbed the trad further down the road I doubled back to get this. Was able to park very close and after a quick search I found the nicely camouflaged cache. My eighteenth and final of a very productive morning before work. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache TeamThommo.

06-Jul-18
Look at that ….. hidden on my birthday bit special (but I'm a little more than 4 years old). We are heading towards the 1000 finds , in the 100 finds for the months and school holidays ……. I thought I better at least get out a taste of geocaching, seeing we don't get much opportunity when school is in. As son as I pulled up, you could see the right spot but the hide was actually very clever and still looking really good. Nice little stop to test out the new stamp we have acquired.

Found on 3 Jun 2018 at 3:29 pm.
I have been meaning to come out and check out the aqueduct trail for years so finally today I decided to come and have a look. I parked at the main parking area and headed off with the goal of completing the series of 4 aqueduct caches plus any others if I had time.
I gathered clues for the multis and alternated between caches as each next waypoint came up.
A few horse and walking muggles out today but overall pretty quiet which suited me perfectly.

After I had finished on the aqueduct trail I headed over to this one and found a very convenient parking area. No bullants today and thankfully a nice quick find of the camouflaged cache.
Thanks TeamThommo for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Great camouflage and a nice specimen. Trees are amazing. TFTC.

31-May-18
A great place for a break, with an area well off the road for the geo-loppy. the cache however was proving very deceptive. Maybe I was tied or the camouflage was just too good for me. The GPSr was not helping as it would not confirm in the correct spot. Time to pocket the electronics and just conduct a logical search. As I ruled out the less likely possibilities to hide the cache, something caught my eye. On further inspection a well camouflaged cache was exposed and logged. TNLNSL. TFTC. Kkams.

Logged as NicNax2. Enjoyed the weekend with WeRAmused picking up some caches and visiting some interesting places. TFTC

27-May-18
Found as NicNax2. MazzyMay and I are heading off to get some of the ANZAC series but first picked up this one on the way. Appreciated the place to park way off the road and great camo. TFTC

Had it in my hand several times had to PAF very good camo signed log

21-Jan-18
Found and released the inch ants!! Moved to a different spot so the next catcher avoids them.

TFTC

21-Jan-18
A well constructed hide that was placed right on an ant nest.
Oops... could have been nasty but we saved that for later in the day!

Out on another caching run. Out for 6 hours today for a total of 12 finds and 1 DNF.
Some interesting spots. However, 1 leech and 2 inch-ant bites, along with the requisite number of grass cuts, thorns and associated stick-bites made it a memorable experience once we hit the showers!

TFTC, TeamThommo; sick of reading my logs yet? [:o)]

3446 Finds

Out and about with Happy pants on this awesome Sunday afternoon.
After searching in some obvious locations with no luck, we stood back and considered our options.
Then I spotted a possibility, and was happy to see the prize!
Favorite point for sure.
Cheers for the cache

Sneaky! is all l can say with this one, also no bull ants to be seen. Thanks TeamThommo for the cache. Found with omegaman1971 and my two young sons.

16-Jun-17
Parked close by and headed down to GZ for hopefully a quick find. Yorsys picked up the cache and promptly dropped it. The bullants were still there and had not left for warmer climates. So after a careful log we were on our way again.

Is it that tree? Nah surely it's the stump over there, nope! Back to the tree - wishful thinking for the too hard basket? Found after a while, I parked up the road a bit when parking is avail. at GZ. TFTC

15-May-17
Took a minute to see this, nearly got bitten by a bullant, cool cache. Thank you Smile

13-May-17
When I pulled up to gz I thought this one was going to take a while to find, especially with all the muggles driving past at the time. Thankfully, with a break in the passing traffic I jumped out of the car and had the cache in hand after a short search. Good camo and luckily no bullants today. Cache and log in good condition, TFTC!

03/02/2017 - 8.25pm - No. 837 - 12th of 12 finds & 1 dnf for the day - with Wal-len, Surefoot24 & Darren.
This looked like a nice weather day before some warmer weather so it was decided we'd head off for a bit of finding. We were still wending our way towards home & this one was nearish to our previous find. Surefoot24 had a dnf for this one and wanted to have another go so go we did.
Hmmm ... Kikuyu, one of my pet hates! Finding devices were giving us a bit of a run-around but after a further read of what we should be doing I decided to concentrate on an area a little more after I'd taken a couple of photos of the sun disappearing behind the nearby hill. I poked & prodded & checked & managed to move something which was exactly what I was looking for.
What I was NOT looking for was the bullants that had made a nest under the item concerned!
First thing I noticed in the fading light was something that looked a little like dirt then intense pain in my finger! OUCH, OUCH, OUCH the blighter had a good hold & took a bit of removal after a quick drop of the torch I was holding. I'm not sure if it was the same ant that bit multiple times or I managed to get more than one. Anyway I finally managed to free my finger to then notice pain in my foot ... through my sock & the light material of my footwear!!!! That was finally removed then I did a quick scan ... nope ... can't see any bracken ... ok ... what do I have with me that will help ... hmmm ... hand sanitiser ... that will do for a start! By this stage Darren asked if I'd found it & I indicated yes & that I'd dropped my torch with the bullants. He retrieved the torch & an ant which managed to bite him in his blackberry wound sustained a couple of minutes before. So we both ended up with sanitised wounds before I remembered I had a new tube of pain killing heaven in my other bag. Phew ...! We carefully hunted for the torch that had been dropped for a second time & eventually it D found it way to close to the bitey things. I hadn't been game to go that close to there to check it out. I can't really remember who actually signed the log for us, maybe Surefoot24 but all was retuned to it's place. [B)] SurprisedTwistedSad LEASON LEARNED ... USE SOMETHING LIKE A NON-WIGGLING STICK TO POKE ROUND!!!! Thanks for the cache but NOT the resident guardians! ! ! Wink

Sorry for the slightly later than "on the day" logging. Wounds from bullant bites made me not want to aggravate my sore finger. Typing this with only 9 digits & sore foot elevated Big GrinWink Swelling has gone down quite a bit in the finger but it does now show more clearly where the bites happened. Foot is still quite swollen as bite was quite near the soft part of outside of my ankle. It only hurts when I walk so I am trying to not do to much of that. Hmmm ... don't remember being bitten by a bullant before but I now know parts of me don't like it too much. All's good though! Ice packs, anti histamines, ointment, no worries!

I must remember to reassemble my anti-bite kit that I used for my son over the years.

03-Feb-17
BEWARE OF THE BULLANTS NEST. THEY HANG ON TIGHT --- AND HURT !!! .... I will eventually post my "Found It --- with pain" log WinkBig Grin
One digit got 2 or 3 & the foot got 1.
IF YOU ARE GOING TO POKE SOMETHING - USE A NON-WIGGLING STICK!!

03-Feb-17
Found it with Surefoot24 and Ceebee 2013. Two casualties to bullants later. TFTC

03-Feb-17
Two BULLANT BITE S one each on two victims and a lost torch caused lots of yelling but surprisingly no swearing. The cache was found, separated from the vicious guards and log signed. Spent another ten minutes searching for the torch Ceebee2013 wasn't leaving it behind despite her painful bite. The cache was returned to the , the torch found and retrieved, antihistamine administered to driver/Walking Ladder before we left to find a meal and head back to Bass Coast.

No luck for us here today. Sad

No good for us today, 6 pairs of eyes including some that had found it before...might need checking, but beware, the residents don't like seekers.

Camo is brilliant! My problem is that I usually debark the whole tree before I find the cache. Fav point!

07-Aug-16
Missed the preferred stopping point so parked up the road a little, much to the displeasure of a local dog. At GZ I wandered around a bit and it was only sheer luck that the cache revealed itself to me. I almost had to call over to the geomissus for better eyes. Thanks Team Thommo!

While on the way to finding a new cache in this area we decided why not stop a grab this one also. Very easy find as it wasn't in the right spot and cache was exposed. Would've been quite tricky otherwise. TFTC

30-Jul-16
On our way out to attempt the new one so we thought we would get this one on the way. Once we found the correct area to pull into, and navigated the mud, it was a quick find by Stinky Tom.
Cache in good condition.
Thanks TeamThommo

Well, that was a quick find. Jumped out of the car and initial fears that the bird box half way up the tree was our target were quashed as there was the film canister staring us in the face. Returned it to where we found it but so that it wasn't visible. Magnificent tree. TFTC

22-Apr-16
Found by Mary & David at 1515. After McCafe coffees, we were suitably revived. A lovely old tree here, and we thank you for the great cache notes. Whenever we came back after an overseas trip, we couldn't wait to see a gum tree again. Our thanks to TeamThommo.

Find #2280

I headed out for a Sunday afternoon run with Steve to find an Earth cache for International Earth cache Day and find a few other caches along the way. Steve had already found this cache so it was just me to find and sign. The camo was on the ground and the container plainly visible when we arrived so finding it was too easy. After signing the log, I placed the camo back to where I felt it should be.

Thank-you to TeamThommo for placing this geocache

After visiting the local bead shop down the road for their 50% off sale we head home and luckily the rained stopped so we were able to grab a couple of caches on the way.

I spotted the tree in question easily, having driven passed it and noticed it myself many, many times in the past. The caching force must have been with me because I spotted it right away, and before Geodaughter who usually beats me to it on ones like these. Even so, I was still shocked when I realised I'd found it so quickly because it looked like it was going to be a tricky one.

Thanks for the info and a great cache!

We pulled up at gz for this cache and stopped at a distance of 1m according to the phone. I don't think we have ever managed to park that close to a cache before. The search took far longer than it should have before I decided to see things from a different angle. Doh! Thanks for the interesting information and thanks for the cache.

30/01/2015, Found @ 8:15 pm, Find # 4051.

On a trip that took me through Pakenham to Gembrook and beyond, I stopped now and then to find a cache or two, this was one of them.
This is a nice little drive by, I parked within a metre or two of the cache and as I was sitting in the car I was looking at a spot on the tree and once I was out that is where I looked first, it also happened to contain the cache, very nice work.

Thanks to TeamThommo for placing this cache.

Woohoo.. Another TeamThommo cache was published yesterday... I knew Id be in the area today so it would be a great cache for my project 366 attempt.
Arrived at GZ and followed my GPS all over the carpark, bouncing around more than a gaggle of kids at a trampoline park!!
As i was wandering around I spotted something from the corner of my eye... Toyed with the idea for a minute and thought Id better check it out... EUREKA!!!

Signed the log and g-headed back to the car to crank the heater, I was DRENCHED!!!

{Ftf} Had given up work as it was to hot and humid, was trying to decide what to do when the emai went crazy, quick check new cache, in a spot i drive past several times a week, and as it is with a few of team thommos i drove past here this morning between jobs. Anyhow guessing where it would be i took off and was quickly at gz. Quick find, thanks for another great cache.. we need more around, i am having to travel to far to get them.lol. tftc ...just realised i put the wrong date in the log, put the 7th not the 8th. oh well on geocaching.com it shows the 7th anyhow,
