A simple solution after the date was found. A quick find in a very common cache hiding spot. Tftc
Out caching to recover from my recent wisdom tooth removal operation. I spent the majority of the week doing nothing at home while it rained outside, and even though the cats really enjoyed my company, I had a severe case of cabin fever. Today I made my way down the highway to Canberra, finishing off some ALs where I could and starting some more. I always accidentally seem to start more than I finish. This rest area was really pretty and I couldnt resist doing the only cache nearby while I was already parked. What a beautiful swamp nearby. Thanks for placing this cache here TFTCGeneric stats and facts for the day:Public toilets: loads of them, in fact almost a set at every rest area!Steps taken: 10629Weirdos encountered: not necessarily that weird but a dude metal detecting near the reconciliation walkWeather: very chilly, extremely chilly when the sun went down Snack situation: maccas coffee and department of pizza for dinner
After reading the activities of this brave soldier and gathering the required information I calculated the coordinates and then I was off to get the cache and sign the log. Thank you for placing and maintaining this cache.
I heading to Canberra from Parramatta and I really needed to stretch the legs and walk about for a few minutes so a quick stop at this rest stop was in order. With a check of the map I was soon checking out the info to work out GZ.With teh numbers worked out and a shirt walk later I was signing the log book.Thank you DARKSIDEDAN for the Multi
Goulburn Day 2 & have settled into the caravan park for the next few days. Our plan today was to head out of town to do the Marvel Mystery Series & Birds of AustraliaThe Marvel puzzle took many days to work through some time ago. I only know a handful of MarvelsDuring the day we stopped at 3 VC rest stops & also a few other caches that we passed along the way.A nice way to visit the town & area is by following the geocaching trailI like that these rest area pay tripute to our VC recipients FP givenThanks DARKSIDEDAN for hiding this cache.
Outnabout for some solo caching after Canberras Capital Geobash. Found in a break in the weather on my trip homeward. Its always a great day for caching. TFTC DARKSIDEDAN
Heading back to Canberra from a CITO in Goulburn and decided to stop in another parking bay. There was a cow that watched me from the fence line as the local chicks came to check me out and then I gathered the required information and located the cache shortly afterwards.TFTC DARKSIDEDANKeep smiling
Out n about with m4yb grabbing some caches. The official Capital GeoBash is over, but the caching continues! A lunch stop, sadly lacking coffee facilities! Thanks for the hide & DARKSIDEDAN
Megawat60 and I are still in Canberra after the Capital Geobash! The weather has turned a bit yuk but we are still caching! Had lunch here with the marsh hens. Made the calculations on a paper scrap. Hint helped the find. TFTMC!
A nice spot, a snake, and probably the quickest multi I have done for some time! Not because of the snake, but the straightforward nature of the questions and hide. TFTC!!
#7350- Found on our way to the mega with thomo31. An easy find in the way past in between lots of ALs. Thanks

Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers DARKSIDEDAN! Join us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!
Cockburn Crew on tour to the Canberra Mega. Day 1 involved a bunch of caching around Sydney before making our way to Canberra for the Capital Geobash. We found a huge variety of caches, and its great to cache in new territory that we havent explored much in the past. Unlike our home state of Western Australia where we have found just about anything and everything.A beautiful day with great weather and even better company. Thank you to the local COs for a great day in and around this great country of ours.
WA Crew are in the area with thousands of caches to find. We are signing WAC for ease. Thanks for the hide.
Canberra Geobash Road Trip 2024. Day Three: Goulburn and a couple of new LGAs.Dropped in while doing the AdLab. A quick solve and even quicker find.Lest we forget. Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, DARKSIDEDAN ??~????????~
Day #3 Geobashing After arriving in Canberra yesterday and checking in at Canberra Park, today OzHockeyChick and I left Canberra again to head out east and grab some LGAs, challenges, favourites and other selected caches.Time for some more challenges north of Goulburn. Thanks for the challenge. Glad I qualify. We were making our way back from Goulburn and stopped in all of these rest areas. A nice spot for a quick break.A big thanks goes to DARKSIDEDAN for taking the time to add John Edmondson VC Memorial Rest Area to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Looking for caches to find when visiting Victoria? On a short visit to some family in Canberra for a few days, and picked a few hides along the way. I have recalled passing this rest area many many times, but didnt realise it was over wetlands. Found the information quickly but the hide even quicker.I really appreciate the VC rest area idea, so many people doing unbelievable things for their mates and their country!
Don't know why we haven't called in here before this, today Wazza9 wanted a break from driving. Thankfully there was a multi for us to do, took a photo of one plaque and that wasn't it, look around a bit and found what we were looking for. Stamped log and replaced. Thanks to CO St Patrick's Day.
Heading back to QLD, after spending Christmas with family, a cold windy day for the trip home, so we were lucky that we did not have to spend too much time searching for these. Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for the caches.Total Cache Finds 15322,
I stopped here for a bit of a break. Couldnt find the required information but looked around and found the cache. TFTH
Taking the motorcycle for a spin down to Canberra. Stopped at John Edmondson VC Rest Area to admire the Rowes Lagoon. Photo taken. With five TBs in tow: Cheetah, Harmony Smurf, Canadian Flag, Dosenjger and Dog Tag (with his green soldier tugging the tag all the way). All hopping onboard on my motorcycle journey for one or two to get off in ACT
Found, with Mrs BillHill and son while on a short break. We came down from Newcastle, on this very hot day (35 deg) lucky for air con it was good. The posted co-ord didn't take us to the Plaque,so we had to hunt around for a while, once found we got the calcs pretty quick and went staight to the cache, nice and dry and good order.Signed log and Cache replaced as found.**Thanks For The Cache** Rapidlywild. This makes the 1st cache of 2 for today making a grand total of 4223 at 3:14PM on this Tuesday the 3rd of October in the Year 2023

Found with some help from hints in previous logs. Once I’d got the correct numbers the rest was easy. A fitting day for this cache find. Thanks for the cache Rapidlywild
We continued today our tour in NewSouthWales, AUS, and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Multi-Cache.
The weather was - said in one word – simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood.
The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The logbook was okay, and allowed easy logging.
Thanks to Rapidlywild for the generation of this nice cache John Edmondson VC Memorial Rest Area (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.
PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they appeared.
Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood.

Easily solved and found just like a good multi should be!
Out with GreyHams on a mostly nice sunny day. With the recent rain there was plenty of water lying about, the little car got, well... just a 'little' muddy! Thankfully though we stayed dry and clean enough! Wow, it was a long day that saw us cover a lot of distance, climb a few hills, and collect a lot of good quality caches along the way. Generally, most caches were found in good condition, all at the coordinates and dry although a few have not held up to the rain and were in poor or very wet condition.
Thanks for your cache that led to a good day out!

This is my favourite rest area when driving to Canberra. Bit drizzly today and quite a few people coming an going. No problems with the numbers, and I'm sure I found a cache in the exact same spot years ago. Thanks for keeping these alive.
Needing a multi today and decided to come out here. First time stopping here and it’s a lovely spot. Sweet little multi.

I'd been here before, and failed to look for the cache as some numbnut muggle had camped out near GZ, showing no signs of moving on. Tried again today on the way past, and had to relearn all of the tricks again - the "plaque" is actually a plaque, the date is actually "dates" or "date range", and the plaque isn't at the listed coords, but at a WP. As I gathered the numbers and did my calculations.. you guessed it, muggles arrived and wandered around near the plaque and the unfortunately close GZ. This cache is proving to be a strangely high muggle area.
While out and about in the area, I was able to pick this up along the way. A nice quick find and sign then off to the next one. Tftc Rapidlywild!!!
Out caching with TARDIS 0061 and phlphotos for the day. With worked-out coordinates in hand, we made a quick find at GZ. With the cache in hand we signed the log before replacing as found. Thanks for the cache Rapidlywild.

#6 of my Easter Caching Adventure. Lots of stealth for this one, and rather fitting to be at Rowes Lagoon, funnily enough, Rowe is my surname! I wonder if there is any connection! Quick find for today.
As is my wont, I'm off on another adventure. This time I'm driving to Canberra for dinner. Well, it's 30 years since I graduated from uni here, and we are having our first meeting to plan a reunion for later this year.
Anyway, I left Sydney after lunch, and enjoyed a wonderful drive down the Hume and Federal Highways. I'm really grateful for this series of geocaches to keep me interested along the way.
The adventure here was that some local cows had got out of their paddock, and were wandering around the car park!
Thanks for the cache!

Today is our second day of travel home to Gippsland after catching up with family in Nambucca Heads. We had a lovely time with our grandsons after the long drawn out time of restrictions. The last few days of rain made it a bit challenging trying to entertain 2 very lively young lads in a caravan park, but overall had a fantastic time.
Coming through Sydney was a breeze with the new Conex tunnel recently open. The hit on our Linkt account ($60) was even worth it! We have driven this road innumerable times over the years, but this time we had a bit of time up our sleeves, so we decided to grab caravan friendly caches as we travelled. The added bonus is that we finally managed to get a number of caches in the ACT, completing our national grid at long last. A cache in every state and every mainland territory.
Love these VC roadside stop. We stayed overnight at one on the Hume (Derrick), simple and easy to access, and free!
We got a bit misled identifying where to find the info required to solve this puzzle, but once we found the right source the calculations were simple and we found the cache pretty much where we expected it to be

Typically when travelling along the Federal Highway we're on our way going to, or returning from, other business and rarely have the time to stop and look around. Today would be different.

TB Drop !!!
An early Sunday morning drive into the wide green, wet, windy, cold yonder to clean up a number of finds in the area. Out of the door by 7.30am, taking to the Federal Highway with a quick top up at Eagle Hawk. Popped in at the nearby TB hotel dropping off a number of TBs, some that have been sitting around for way too long.
Back out along the highway before turning off onto the old route just after the turn off to the South Coast. Continued to Lake George, taking a few minutes at the lookout to admire the water levels across the way. Seemed pretty wet out there, lets see how long that lasts. Continued onto Collector before cutting cross country to Braidwood Road, Bungendore and just on 5.5 hours after departing found myself pulling back into the drive. 28 finds with 2 DNFs (which I'm pretty sure are no longer there).
Thanks to all the COs for their placement and continued maintenance. Specific details of each find added if interesting or pertinent to the hide.
A quick find, sign and replace. A busy little place, but muggles to cold on their meanderings to notice what I was up to. The area no doubt teaming now with wildlife, the pond now a lake!
The toilet seemed to be temporarily out of action. TNLNSL TFTC

Heading home today, after 4 days of a little boys caching roadtrip, covering parts of Sydney, Blue Mountains, Bathurst, Orange, Parkes, Gundagai, Canberra and Goulburn, and a bunch of little spots in between. We assaulted every second tourist attraction involving dinosaurs, and managed about 90 finds, with only a few DNFs. We've let plenty to come back soon!
I distinctly remember gritting my teeth and swearing under my breath as we shot past this one while heading home after the mega earlier this year, so made sure we approached carefully with an eye on the map today, and didn't miss the turn. The plaque was read, and a discussion about the VC winners valour with my youngest had, before we walked over to find the (nicely presented/maintained) cache. Thanks for keeping this series up, we've enjoyed it each time we visit down here, I think we are out of brave VC recipients to find now though....

I came out caching with All7, working through a list of caches (Mostly in Goulburn) that she wanted to find on our way to the event, at Marulan, that afternoon. I had previously found a few of the caches on her list, but was happy to watch her find them ... or help if needed - not that I was much help, when I didn't actually remember where I had found them.
Thanks to All7 for inviting me to go with her - it was a fun day, driving along enjoying the views of snow in the paddocks and on the hills (snow was even falling in Canberra that morning), with a couple dozen fun finds, a freezing but funny event, and a lunch in a nice warm pub
TFTC - Last find on our way home ... I didn't realise ALL7 had already found this, and had just stopped here for me to make one last find, until now (when I wondered why she had not logged it, then I scrolled back and found her 2014 foundit log). Nice easy find - lol ... if I get a chance to stop here on my way past sometime, I might have to do the nice easy looking calculations too ... lol

Ticking off some PnGs while heading south for a SES Comp that will save time and temptation en-route to the mega at Easter. Quick detour off the main road, located correct information source in between posted co-ords and the determined GZ and claimed the smiley within easy reach.
Stopped by on the way home from Bowral in order to get daily cache #202. Information found, gz coords calculated and cache all found quickly. Also found the remnant of a small turtle nearby which was odd. How did it get there I wonder. Too hot to linger so back into the car air conditioning and off again. TFTM.
A quick find after stopping here for lunch en route to Canberra. TFTC

Quick find on my way from Sydney to Canberra. Doing a lot of caches on the way as I was for once doing this trip on my own and as it had gone dark there was nothing for it as to do as many as I could on the side of the road.
A quick effort with this one as at night there were a bunch of people sleeping here in their cars.
Thank you Rapidlywild for putting the cache out and maintaining it.
