Unfortunately replacing the hide in the same fashion is not possible at this point in time, so I am archiving this listing to open up the area for others to place a hide. I will keep an eye on this location in case something can be managed in the future. Happy caching!
Sadly, need to disable due to maintenance work on the boardwalk. Will monitor and hopefully can get the cache back online in the near future.
I wanted to make this cache I had heard so much about a milestone find. But once I read the logs I realised this should be off line.
Did you hear the one about the hippy who got a crew cut? Well this area has had a LOT of material removed, and the cache has gone with it. I looked for a remnant but found nothing.
Came here very optimistically carrying a pen. Had a few ideas in mind as the metres counted down, and started making a thorough search. Knowing it was a 4d cache, I expected trouble, and was quite expecting to leave with a dnf.
However, I started reading the logs, and Pyobean's didn't look promising. So I sent a text with my thoughts to a friendly past finder, and after a little bit longer than Worf decides that the enemy is not responding, sent a paraphrased version to another.
Got one reply to say that one of my ideas was correct, but despite a very thorough search, I just could not find it. As I was about to leave, got a call, with some a specific geographic area to check, which I then triple checked. I too think this one might have gone?

I think this cache has my record for DNFs. And I think it is missing. On my previous visits I had some got it into my head that it had a certain common characteristic. Discussion with a previous finder corrected this error and gave me a sufficiently direct hint that I knew what I was looking for. Either this cache has gone or I need to find a new pastime that doesn't involve observational skills.
Spent another 20 minutes or so here this afternoon, and came away empty handed. The reeds on one side have been heavily cut back since last time I was here. I should probably take photos each time I visit and have a series of Buffalo Boardwalk in all seasons - at the current rate I could probably hold an exhibition. I'll be back - but only if I get a flash of inspiration (or a hint!).
How did I miss this one before? Took a crew-cut for me to find it.
The rest has already been said about this hide!
Cheers Jords. - Good to put this one to bed.
Geo-Haiku:
Finally got it

I'd been to the previous incarnation but hadn't made it down here since this new nasty Bifrost style cache had appeared. Today I wasn't far away so thought I'd drop by without a lot of hope. I'd spent a fair while there thinking of all the wrong things before finally chasing a PAF or three and eventually coming up with the goods. It did make perfect sense and you do wonder how so many of us fail to find it but there's an air of invisibility about this one.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Third attempt, this time with the youthful eyes of Geodaughter to help look. It's not yet summer but being on that boardwalk around midday sure made it feel as if it was.
Still didn't spot it so I hope it'll stay put until next time. Thanks JordsAU.

The good thing about known, tricky hides is that there's lots that you don't need to check. I'd thought of three good possibilities that would work here. It was the second. Thanks again jordsAU.
Just passing, thought I'd better stop and have another look.
4th visit and still no luck.

Sorry for the late logging only just got my Laptop back online.
Arrived here on a warm day while killing time before a apple store appointment. I expected this cache to be alot harder then i found it giving all the DNF it had to start its life.
Upon walking down the boardwalk and to a ive been here before feeling for the first cache that was here by the CO. Considered searching the original cache but something caught my eye with the way the sun was sitting and this i found the cache before even starting my search. How lucky was that saw it on approach.

We remembered when this one first came out and did no go for it as was interstate and assumed it would have been found by the time we got back. It was not until we saw the CO at an event and said it was still unfound and the difficult was being raised. We were keen but a little time poor due to a few things happening plus there was all that rain and with changes to weekend spot we where not passing by that often. So this morning we decided it was time for find. A read of previous logs and no real insight so headed over. The GPSr had us just off the end of the board walk so we knew the general area and the CO had said at the event we did not need to jump the end of the fence like the last one and was wheel chair accessible so we did think about bring a chair to sit in to help with location and also the time time given other logs. Well a bit of a look round and we made the find with 5 min so lucky with our search. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC

Came back with a hint, which completely threw me, as to what I originally thought it was. Looking, looking, looking but no finding AGAIN!!!
So many DNF's, but again this afternoon came back with still the same info I had last time. With fresh eyes, I combed around GZ, and when looking at a particular angle, notice something. Hmmm, what's this? Ahhh, there you have it. BAM, what a cache and hide. You definitely got me JordsAU. I SL and replaced. This gets a FAV from me as well. TFTC.
Tried again. Drove over. Waited for muggles to walk back up the boardwalk and then walked down. Spent another 20min searching all over the place, but not well enough.
Found the original and thought 'this will be easy'. Got to GZ and started searching, and sure enough about 2 min later a muggle turned up just looking. Who comes down this boardwalk to look at bushes Anyway I tried to continue to search, but it got to hard with him standing close to me, so I left.
Today mid afternoon we were ready for a long search, certainly not leaving till we would make the find. Perhaps we can get delivered dinner from our favourite Thai to the boardwalk? hm.. possibly breakfast too? morning paper..
We approached gz and... found it instantly. Can't believe we missed that one last time! It's a tricky hide but we surely have seen this type before Thanks JordsAU!

19/09/14. 11:33 AM. Cache #1850. Streak day #89. Yeah - slayed the bugbear! Decided on a return visit here after another DNF at "white freeze" in Snives. I'd had my suspicions on part of the hiding method from a previous log. Phoned the CO who confirmed this but still left me wondering where. Tried everywhere but still no sign of it. Then ashamed to say I had to resort to another PAF to get a narrowed down area, and then finally saw what I'd been looking for. Very sneaky indeed! Worthy of a fave point in fact. TFTC }:)
Another 35mins spent here with no luck.
Geodog does not like this one. Very boring lying on the boardwalk while I search. He even began talking to me which is very unusual because he's a really quiet dog.
Any clues?????????

I came here once before to the earlier BB and didn't find that, but I returned with a few more caches under my belt.(dont know why I put them there it's quite uncomfortable)
I took EDFs thoughts on previous jords hides and ran them through the memory banks, getting a good idea of what to look for.
On arrival was musing my way around when voices down the boardwalk signalled the arrival of the Asbestifamily. Soon there was ten eyes looking and under such sustained attack no cache can remain hidden...
Of course the junior eyes spotted the vital clue first, and soon signing duties were completed.
Thanks again Jords for bringing us to such a pleasant spot on a sunny Saturday and for the clever little hide.
Nice to meet the Asbestiform crew, I'll be visiting your playground soon.

After a successful series of finds in the nearby Buffalo Creek Reserve including one involving a claustrophobia inducing search among some bamboo caverns Geowife pointed to this one on the way to the Fields of Mars in a much more open location. After parking and extracting geokids from the back seat off we went. What a nice little board walk! And the terrain rating indicated we wouldn't need to get our feet wet. Approaching GZ we initially thought this one might be a quick search, but quickly recognized the signs of a fellow cacher... peering intently at a hand rail, GPSr/phone tucked into back pocket. That's twice today! Must be good caching weather. If it was just older eyes this one would have stood a chance but with the power of youth thrown in, it was quickly spotted! The hide carefully returned as found. Nice to meet the master locksmith!
Now, I bet you'll be glad you didn't get the FTF after all

Had heaps of time at night with torched and can't find will be back to try again mmm hope it has not been muggled
After seeing the long list of esteemed DNFers, I already had my #dnfpride hashtag ready to post. Especially as I only had 5 mins to spare on my way to pick up my sons from church.
But I took the CO at his word that it was not necessary to leave the boardwalk and started my investigations. Within the time allowed I spotted the signs of a telltale JordsAU hide. Which isn't giving anything away as I think I am up to about 50 of his hides, and there are quite a few variations. I put my success down to coming after dark with my trusty torch.
TFTC JordsAU - very nicely placed.

2nd attempt to look for it this time 1hr.1/2 . I think I might need something to help me I'll try again later!
#1 attempt no luck.
I'm going to keep what could be a very very detailed account as brief as possible.
We hadn't found the original and so decided to walk in with beginners luck having cracked some of Sydney's tougher nuts. After about 10 mins Sjamp comes and we spend a while having a look around and discussing caching in general.
The neighbour (a converted muggle) comes and starts searching with us for a bit. We discuss some possibilities and after thinking we covered the area (and receiving some Free Range Eggs... thanks!). Sjamp gets on the phone to the CO. Nothing is revealed except that all the details are correct.
We depart later with nothing but broken spirits.
This one's going straight on the watchlist JordsAU! You've earned 2 DNF's from BabyJMan and I.

It is difficult to believe that this has gone more than a week without a find. I was determined to give it another go, having done a bit of thinking about where it could possibly be. When I arrived today there was a group of three who were clearly looking for something! Nice to meet Akkatracker and family.
The four of us searched intensely, exchanging ideas and discussing what we knew (and didn't know) about the hide. As we continued searching we were joined by a friendly neighbour (thanks for the fresh eggs!) who had observed all the interest and had also looked but not found the cache. Five sets of eyes, a limited area to search, the sun shining - it was the perfect day to be outdoors but there wasn't a cache in sight.
With all ideas exhausted I gave JordsAu a call. Could it really be a T1, and was he certain the posted coordinates are the correct ones? Yes and Yes, and that was about the limit of what he was willing to share. Other than saying he wasn't trying to make it a difficult hide!!!
I see there have been a couple of notes posted suggesting that the cache should be renamed. I dare not say the name, and the details are very different, however what comes to mind is a burning rainbow bridge that reaches between Midgard (the world) and Asgard, the realm of the gods!
Thanks again JordsAu. I really am intrigued about where this is hiding.

Found at 5:40pm. Joint *FTF* with Ernest and Morry9.
Well..... I'm not quite sure what to say except that I've spent an aggregate 2 hours here going crazy and we finally had a breakthrough. This is really quite a simple hide in retrospect but I can only presume it was hidden with evil.
Ernest managed to spot the cache, we then took part in an obligatory high-five between the three of us. Corny but necessary.
It's a scenic area amongst the greenery with what would seem limited places to hide a cache which makes the search that little bit more frustrating.
An inspiring hide and a heavy monkey off the back, worthy of a favourite point from me.
SL - thanks for the cache JordsAU

JordsAU, you must be loving the DNFs, here's another.
Akkatracker and I, fresh from a disappointing event in Northbridge set out with no idea about the previous cache to attempt to get FTF. As I arrived, I started wondering how no one could find it. It's a simple search area. 10 minutes in a man approaches us who we recognise. Sjamp.
After looking for another 10 mins, the friendly neighbour (thanks for the fresh eggs) comes out and helps with the search. 20 mins later and we're out of ideas. We have 2 possible camos in mind, but we cant find anything. Sjamp phones JordsAU, but he won't give anything away. Finally, we decide enough is enough and leave knowing that this cache will give us nightmares in the future. Is anyone going to find it.

Well I should have gone over after Northbridge too.
Anyone want to make a team assault on this? Let me know.

Wow! A very, very tough find, indeed! I have to say, the long, long string of DNFs was very off-putting, and didn't expect to find it, but it was worth a crack!
Arrived at GZ noticing a mini-gathering - of course, it was the CO himself, along with Jase90 and Morry9. They'd been here a while but JordsAU hadn't given them anything at all.
After a long half hour of searching completely unaided, accompanied with some occasional laughter from JordsAU, we managed to suss out the cheeky hide; we couldn't believe that we'd missed it, especially after searching near it for such a long time... A huge relief! In hindsight, it seems very easy, but it was definitely frustrating in search.
TFTC, JordsAU, definitely deserves a favourite point Oh, and apologies again for the urgent maintenance required... sorry! Thanks!

Yet another DNF. This morning I had a brainwave (or so it seemed at the time). All I needed to do was bionically enhance myself and I could follow the sage advice of Obi-Wan Kenobi. It didn't take too much effort to give myself the required superpower. So despite the weather, I set off with my new sensory ability, convinced I would get FTF. After half an hour in a bright yellow emergency rain poncho having studied so many things in far more detail than their intrinsic interest warranted, I had to admit that I was not Steve Austin but a soaked saddo behaving strangely. My new superpower had been defeated. The cache is cunningly placed in a force field that overwhelmed my superpower, and the source of the screening force-field is the structure itself (a possibility that had crossed my mind briefly before setting out on in the drizzle). I now admit defeat and will not return until someone drops a clue (or I have another brainwave...)
I went on to pick up another two caches in the neighbourhood and got 13kms walk in so not wasted journey. TFTC.

A short detour on the way home from the 7 Souvenirs of August event but only limited time to search so was trying for a lucky find. Was not to be the case, will have to return with more time to spare for the search next time.
Masochist! or is that Sadist
Hadn't brought my 'arsenal' of caching 'tools', but went over the edge (to Terrain 2½) to check what I would have been able to with the 'autoscope'. Didn't help.

And its a DNF for me too.
I thought maybe this was my turn for FTF but after a LONG search interrupted by some guy coming down here to eat his popcorn, no luck.
I even managed to find 2 bolts that looked a bit different and unscrew them but neither turned out to be cache containers.
I'll think on this and will be back.

No luck tonight on my 1st attempt. It was very dark although I thought the torch light may help when focussing on particular areas and cracks. Will be back in the next few days to have a good go at it
Cache check whilst walking the geo-pup this evening... There's good news and bad news. The bad news is no one has been able to find the replacement Buffalo Boardwalk cache yet. The good news is that the cache is still there, right where it should be, and the First To Find is still up for grabs! Maybe the difficulty rating needs to be bumped up(?) but the terrain rating is accurate. You do not need to leave the boardwalk to find this one, nor should you. With absolute sincerity, best of luck!

Don't forget to post a Did Not Find log if you have attempted a cache but not found it. There is nothing to be ashamed about. Some of the easiest of caches and the simplest of hides can prove to be the most difficult! There is great honour in logging a DNF and it helps the Cache Owner and other caches know what is going on at Ground Zero. Thank you! #DNFpride
I'm always interested in interesting caches and the initial string of DNFs looked interesting indeed! Having found the original version and knowing that this new one was different in some way (according to the description) I had a few possibilities in mind as I approached GZ.
Of course I still checked the original position, expecting and finding nothing, and then proceeded to carry out a fairly thorough search (or so I thought). Good to meet digby23, and we exchanged a few ideas and discussed possible hides. In the end I left, wondering if it could still be there.
Great to see that JordsAu has since done a cache check and confirmed it is still in the intended position! I'm impressed and curious and will have to return next weekend to try again! Thanks JordAu.

Also stayed about half an hour but no luck. Met up with sjamp and the way out - nice to meet you!
Left sjamp to have a solo try then returned to try to work it out between us.... we could almost smell the french fries and hotdogs!!
I'll watch this space. If you are passing by Jords - post a note if it's still there and really get us all wondering! Thanks for an intriguing afternoons search.

Joint snf with ADI. We looked for about an hour.. Grabbed a bit n came back to look at it.. Another 30 mins at gz and still no cache to find !
22/08/14. 2:32 PM. FTDNF - First to DNF. After success at Balmoral and East Ryde, ADI pk1965 and I came here hoping to make it 3 from 3. After 20 minutes of thorough looking and a mercy call to the CO (who stayed coy), I looked at the time and realised I had to bail, wishing the other 2 luck as I left. Hmmmm, tricky....
Searched for 15 mins. Reckon I looked in every possible place twice. Seemed too hard for a difficulty 2. Gave up as rain threatened and I am an hours walk from home.
------------- Later edit from home --------------
Well, I almost dodged the rain - but almost wasn't good enough with 5 mins in a downpour. My field note contains an obvious error. It's not a difficulty 2. I had not set out to find this cache. I was in the area scouting a more secure location for my new cache, and remembered this one had been posted again, so just headed over without reading the description very well. So, maybe I didn't search hard enough for a difficulty 3.5 - but it must be really tricky.

When caches were published...pk called to check if i wanted to grab 1 FTF today! I said YES! then KRS showed up at the same cache... there we decided to attempt 2 more caches! This was the last FTF attempt!
Pk, KRS and I spent about half an hour at GZ looking for this naughty one... then KRS bailed and left PK and me scratching our heads! We kept looking for about half an hour more! and by this time, my stomach was growling (or u could say howling...even grumbling) for some grub! We went to grab a bite... both our minds still at the cache..wondering what we missed! Pk finished eating first and reached for the satellite maps on bing (coz apple AND google satellite maps didnt have any updated images #unbelievable #WTF). The coords seemed to be the same as the old cache...so as soon as i finished my last bite, PK got into an urgent mode! Quickly (but carefully) we drove back to Gz... but there was NOTHING to find! GRR! there went 2 hours to log a DNF! [:(!]
