Sidewaze and Isis58 on a 5 day long weekend adventure to the Mega in Turangi. 4 days each involved a considerable amount of travelling. That left one day when we didn’t have to get somewhere and we could cache for as long as we liked. We had an amazing day around the backroads and valleys of the Manawatu, really getting a feel for the lie of the land as we travelled.
The brilliant red of the early morning sky was amazing. We marvelled at the green green grass, observed the thousands of cows, heard hundreds of bulls and lots of pheasants and plovers. Saw lots of beautiful mauve daisies. Geocaching is a great way to see so much country that you would otherwise bypass. We signed most logs SWIS to save space, time and sanity. Thank you so much for placing this cache.

I traveled down to Palmerston North for a 3 day geocaching weekend to give my numbers a bit of a boost, as I head towards my next caching milestone. I decided to fly there and back and pick up a cheap rental car for the weekend. The weather was perfect and I had a great weekend down there.

Today I joined forces with yorkshirekiwi83 for a full day of caching before an event in the city tonight. We picked up a few caches around the city first, then drove down towards Opiki collecting caches down some of the side roads as we went, then headed across to do the KAS Power Trail, before going up to do the caches around Ohakea then headed back to Palmerston North. This was a quick find on our travels, TFTC!

Vistra and I headed down to Manawatu as the KAS trail has been bugging me in its incomplete form, as we both needed numbers for personal goals it seemed like a good opportunity. Thanks to the cache owners for all the caches and the variety, over 2 days I found over 200 caches, so thank you for placing and maintaining them.

Most were quick easy finds, although there were some very clever ones and some well thought out. TFTC

Was down in Wellington for a few days, and decided that I'd make an extra long weekend of it and transfer a rental car back to Auckland and cache along the way. Unfortunately for the rental agency that ment nearly tripling the km's they thought I'd put on it!Smile

With the rental car company only giving me 48 hours to get the car to Auckland a little bit of planing was needed to maximise what I wanted to accomplish, and with only a few DNF's it turned out to be a very successful trip. So a big thanks to everyone who had placed caches along the way, and for showing me some great sight's along the way.

Day 1: Foxton through to Bulls.

All good here, thanks for the hide.

Nope. Searched in all the likely spots but it just wasn't meant to be for me. Time ran out so it was sayonara and on to the next one.

09-Jan-16
Decided to do the ones down this road today as I have 2 hours to spare. this one I had to come back to, cause I was totally lost finding it the first time through. Was in the right spot, but looking for the wrong type of hinding spot! It was only after doing the others along the road I realised my mistake Smile

My younger brother had a four-day table tennis tournament in Palmerston North. Rather than sit around and watch paint dry, I decided to take a caching tour of the Manawatu... Joined by Gap (of Fap and Gap).

A quick find here... Which allowed plenty of time to admire the snow-covered ranges. Although it was bitingly cold, getting in and out of the car was enough to keep us warm... TFTC.

8 - Ben asked me to quote on some potential business in the Waiouru area, the Squirrel rang me and told me what his plans were so I thought I could combine these two together and met him for a raid on the Manawatu area. What's a few extra kilometres of driving and it's great to have a good boss (Mrs Fap) who said I could disappear for a few days. Arrived late Wednesday night, up early the next morning, hadn't planned anything so followed Squirrel's directions. Boy is there are load of caches in this area. Armed with the Squirrels list off we went, target today 100+ caches.....and see how we go, and Oh what a day so I'm going to have to copy & paste this lot for our logs. SLTFTC.40am

Back down this way for work so what better opportunity to collect a few caches in the early evening and before the event in the morning. Caching always provides a great way to see the local countryside (and also gets me out of motel rooms which I hate being stuck in) to see the countryside.

Nice quick find and cache in great condition
Thanks for the placement

Don't often get out this way to do caches so grabbed the opportunity this evening while up this end of town. Parked up near the yards before realising that the coordinates were still some way off so walked along to the obvious GZ. A good sized cache with lots of goodies, TNLNSL. Thanks Popmac.

On a pretty wild and windy day with MJMNZ. But thankfully no rain. Our purpose to cover the area just south of Sanson and east of SH1. There seemed to be a compact group just waiting to be found!

The GPS led us from the mint caches to this cluster the long way round but soon travelling along yet a new road with deep drains and narrow verges and howling blustery winds. Out with JonoS doing a day of mainly POPMAC caches. Thanks for a range of different caches with accurate coordinates in a variety of containers and places.

Have been meaning to do this trail for a while and what better opportunity than a drive into town for the groceries? This was the last on the trail for us, thanks for hiding this series, will have to come bak and get the ones we missed at some point.

24-Jan-15
Thought we would grab a few caches on our way into town to get some groceries. Have been meaning to do this trail for a while. Though today was the day, as I want to get to 400 caches before my first year of geocaching is up. Not many to go now.

Thanks for this series Popmac, this was the last one from this trail for us today, have a couple we missed but will come back and get them another time. Thanks! Picked up TB

Last cache for the day. As we pulled into the nearest driveway to GZ, we noticed a bit of traffic coming towards us, so pulled out the cellphone - just as well, as the first car pulled into the driveway we were in. They just gave us a friendly wave & continued on.
Interesting note on the inside of the lid - "who else nose about this" (their spelling not mine Smile). Muggled?
Left a pet rock - a hippo. TFTC & the trail, Popmac.

Found with Tommygun9 on a surprisingly busy back country road.
Thanks for this loop Popmac

27-Sep-14
Decided to knock off this loop after dropping JrGun9 at his Grandma's. This road is the busiest country road I've ever seen! Thanks heaps for the caches Popmac.
Drove down Tremaine Ave so grabbed this one before turning around to continue on the series.

I left the car running and the gps in the car as I scampered out to grab this one. The rain is on it's way so it'll be interesting to see how far I get on this trail before it hits. I'm not too worried though as I have my new jacket with me so it'll be good to put it to use today.
