Thanks for this one. I generally try to get all caches that are over 10 years old and this one is. Lovely view from the tree.To the next person bring a container to replace the container as this one is quite fragile. I put a rock on top of it to protect the contents from showers. Thanks again for putting this one out
We were a bit sceptical about coming "all" the way out of town to this one. But why not, we had time. Made my way up to the cache and enjoyed all the white quartz around that looked like snow. Then on the way down, we spotted the information board across the road. What a fascinating spot!! Great to wander the old Yanco Glen hotel ruins and learn more about this area and Sturt's explorations. Thanks for bringing us out here. TFTC
Out caching with my caching buddy, MrsShep77, and our faithful drivers. Thanks for the great hides.
13263 Located by baby&Mrs gopher at 1400. The Mrs has now been in hospital since Friday the 13th Oct 23. Waiting for her to be flown back to Wagga Wagga. baby has been doing 1 find each day to keep the run going. It makes geocaching interesting as the time can be spent to observe how each cache hide is done. A FP for this hide with the memorial rock just a short distance away in memory of the Lee family SL Tnx thewhitedoggang
Day 25. A last minute plan had been hatched to make my by way to QOGM. Very little planning had been done but a very rough outline was in place and it was going to be a day by day trip.I continued the journey home, tagging on with posums for a few days. After spending the night at Innamincka we headed south through Camerons Corner and then I headed further south to get close to the border. An odd find here as the lanyard tree is somewhat out of sight of most people, so I wonder who actually knows its here!Found the cache although the container is deteriorating and the lid component is now half separated from the container. Thanks thewhitedoggang for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Are you planning a trip to Victoria? Check out some of these caches on the nominees list for the 2022 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards. The shortlist is available [here](https://coord.info/BMC8QYR)
Quick find here.
Freddo and Team Waldron are heading north for a long delayed trip to the caching fields of Cunnamulla. This cache was found on our journey. Caches were fixed where necessary. Fresh log books added. Containers refreshed.
Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

Freddo and Team Waldron headed to warmer climes around Broken Hill, Cobar, Bourke, Cunnamulla
and Charleville.
After a cold start in Broken Hill the weather improved once we got further north. Sadly our last night in Broken was wet which, pardon the pun, put a dampener on things.
All up it was a great week away and lots of caches were found with only 3 dnfs.
Thanks to all who placed and maintained their caches. The occasional cache was damaged and we refurbished it and we also left new logbooks as required.
The lanyards have seen better days.

A pleasant walk up to the tree. Slight chilly breeze ... enroute to Milparinka Gymkhana.
Had to make my tour bus stop to allow me to grab this one. Container looks a little sad but was thankfully dry. Lanyards have faded both in colour and materially but there are still a few hanging.
Logged on a hot day (41 degrees) after visiting Silverton. I love this idea, but some of the tree branches are broken and a lot of the lanyards have broken down in the weather. They were scattered around, so I tried to redecorate the tree as best as I could. The cache was logged and we paid homage to the nearby memorials. Thanks for this cache placement.
Found by Mary and David at 14:20. Trust you to introduce us to a new concept tree. We haven't seen another. We couldn't find the memorials you mentioned though. Container is cracked and will need replacing next time you visit. Our thanks to thewhitedoggang.
Interesting place, seems an old railway line may have been here once.
Quick find, cache container is quite damaged, log still clean and dry.

Caught up with the folks on the way through the broken Hill region. Saw all the lanyards swinging in the breeze like each was a little noose!
Noice.

Visiting Broken Hill and surrounds with Purrfect Di.
Seeing some sights, taking some pictures, looking for your caches!
The nearby memorials grabbed our attention first. What better place to be laid to rest!
There were only a few lanyards on the tree, but was easily recognisable from a distance still.
Thank you thewhitedoggang for placing and maintaining this cache on our ever growing Aussie geo-map

Driving and hiking around wherever we can - searching, spotting hidden items and signing cache logs using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S21u, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just a guess or plain old dumb luck
Plenty of the luck stuff actually !!!
*All the online logs are composed and published with GSAK of course.*

Warning ! Caching is a very hazardous activity!
Look out for sand, mud, floodwaters, snakes, surprise cliffs, roos, wombats, things falling from trees, bulldust, and floods, and try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall off your ladder...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- and do watch out for bugs !!! . [xx(]
Ensure Travel Bugs are the Only bugs you share and pass on (Covid cancels caching!)
Keep a safe distance - cache the countryside
Great of all those placing quality caches out and about around the country areas,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game fun, and interesting
Really appreciate you reading all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, apparently! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Maybe if I worked out where I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and we can put an end to these long logs !!!
C'est Fini.

The poor old lanyard tree has seen better days on a cold and windy afternoon we drove up to find the cache dry and some swapped inside yes the container was cracked but hasn’t affected the log, thanks for placing this cache
This was the furtherest we travelled this road from our holiday base at Broken Hill today. A lot of branches had been broken off this tree so after we attached our lanyard from Thredbo we proceeded to collect all lanyards off the broken branches and attach back on the tree. Looks complete now. TFTC
Oh man! The flies. I wax up and back as quickly as I could. The container is cracked in a few places. I guess being an arid zone, it might be okay for a while. Tftc.
Found the cache with no problems and made a quick visit to Rex and Mary Lee. Thanks for placing the cache and bringing us here.
Fun, adventure, travel, history, geology, mental stimulation, social gatherings, support and friendship are just some of the elements of geocaching.
Out and about enjoying the opportunity to grab a few caches, yours being one of those I targeted on my journey today. Thanks ??
Thanks thewhitedoggang (F=12312 H=89) for placing this cache and adding to our game.

We are heading up to Townsville for the mega up there going a very convoluted way chasing Lab caches and Corners with Micaparamedic, papi4506 & Geoturtle37.
We stayed in broken Hill last night and did a little bit of sight seeing this morning and are now heading to Cameron corner to pick up a virtual and a corner that some of the crew don't have.
We have been looking at this cache each time we come to Broken Hill since it was published but never seem to get the time to come out and grab it but today was a perfect day for it. Being tail end Charlie by the time we had parked and got out of the car the cache had already been found and all we had to do was add our name to the log.
We then wandered off and read the nearby plaques and felt quite happy that those two had been reunited in the bush that they loved.
Many thanks thewhitedoggang for the cache.

Looks like lanyard tree has suffered in the latest round of storms. Still plenty of limbs left though.

We inspected the memorial plaques to our left before making our way up to the lanyard tree to search for the cache. A lovely shaped tree that makes for a good photo.

Good spot to stop for lunch, and we went for a walk to find the lanyard tree as well! Some lovely lanyards there but didn’t swap any today. TNLN, TFTC!
Found it. Lots of people walking just past this special tree as it's just of the track.
In Broken Hill for a few days before heading to Camerons Corner. A quick find, TFTC.
So windy out here today it was hard to climb the hill!!! Nearly got knocked over more than once! Very hot day in broken hill!!! Glad we found it nice and quick.
Stopped in here as part of our Great Western County Hunt. It has been a truly incredible trip, as I managed to pick up the last four counties I needed to fill in my NSW county map. A super exciting thing to complete. Thanks for enabling our crazy adventures. Thanks for the cache.

It was very very windy here today - it was a battle to climb up the incline. Thanks for bringing us here. Interesting history across the road on the tramway. TFTC
We made a quick find here while heading south after a couple of lovely nights at Mutawintji. Thanks for the hide.
Found under the threat of the impending thunderstorms that were forecast for the afternoon. Thanks for the cache thewhitegoggang!
Late post from 6 October. Found on our way to Mutawinji although we didn't make it there die to tge rain and slippery muddy roads. Loved the hill and rocks at this location and finding g the ruins of a town. Never would have seen that without good old geocaching yo make us stop. Girls had fun rehabbing the lanyards. TFTC
West New South Wales trip 2020. Day 4. I was joined by MinnieK and Fitzy_1965 for a trip planned to go from Goulburn to Forbes, Nyngen, Cobar, Broken Hill, Wentworth and Balranald. We spent today caching in and around Broken Hill. There were a few historical sites and a few Cultural sites. We did a hill climb or two and saw some great views.

Off to Tibooburra from BH, picking up some caches along silver city hwy. I had no lanyard to place on the tree, but I was impressed with the location. Extremely windy today, Tftc
Tftc whitedoggang,
Found it 30 metres away from GZ by accident, moved it to correct position where there was a throwdown. Also attached a few lanyards that had blown off.

While staying in Broken Hill for a few days we tried to find some of the nearby caches.
On nearing GZ we expected to see many lanyards blowing in the wind but could only see 3 in the tree....however we then spotted a pile of them nesting underneath the tree
Many thanks for bringing us here thewhitedoggang

Quick pick up. The wind is really cold today. Too bad they're not pulling beers at the old pub. TFTC
I found all the lanyards under a rock and I hunted around and found the Temporary cache. Thanks to the previous folk for replacing it, as it is so disheartening to log a dnf.
In Broken Hill for a few days, drove out with Wazza9 to look for this one, spent a long time collecting all the lanyards on the ground a lot of them attached to broken twigs, found over 60. Noticed about 10 left on the tree, it's a fun idea but not on this tree with the wind, the lanyards break the tree branches in the heavy winds. Placed all the lanyards under rocks, replaced a temporary cache. Thanks to thewhitedoggang
TFTC,
We spent over 1/2 an hour picking up lanyards and placed them in a pile under a few rocks for others to discover. Nana nel counted more than 60. They obviously damage the tree.
Decided after searching every location that the container is missing and placed a temporary replacement. If someone has a 200ml Systema to spare, it can help.

I had a look for this one but I couldn't find it today. There were lots of lanyards, most on the ground. While I didn't find the cache, I did find a Cow Tag trackable, which seems strange if the cache was still intact. I think I move most rocks but still came up empty handed.
I hope it's still there. My thanks to thewhitedoggang for placing it.

Easy find, great place to break a long drive to Murawintji. Left a trackable to entice people out here... TFTC!
We are nomads. Having left Perth WA in February 2014 we now live in our caravan and go wherever the will or caches take us.
On this trip we are travelling from Birdsville to Broken Hill with our caravan on tow.
The track was very rocky and bumpy after having had so much Big Red Bash traffic.
Oh how tough it would have been in 1860!
Quick stop along the road. Visited the nearby plaques then picked up the fallen lanyards and rehung them.

Found while heading south towards Adelaide. Thanks thewhitedoggang for the cache.
Did a bit of tidying at GZ as the wind had tangled a lot of the lanyards.

Visiting Broken Hill from Sydney. We had an unreal tour to Mutawintji National Park with Tri-State Safaris today. Our guide was kind enough to make a few stops on the way back to BH. This tree is certainly prominent but the lanyards are difficult to spot.
We admired the commemorative plaques nearby and learned a bit more history from our very knowledgeable guide. Back in 1977, the couple who ran the local pub were shot and killed by a visiting drinker. SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek

Thanks thewhitedoggang for this wonderful location to cache and collect a smilie. However the tree seems to not be as loved as it once might have been the lanyards are getting a little battered and beaten by the weather.
The total count for the day was 5 consisting 4 Traditionals and 1 Multi
Grand Cache count = 387 total consisting of 365 Traditionals, 15 Multi, 5 Mystery and 2 Earth

Hi there thewhitedoggang.
We found your cache **"The Lanyard Tree"** at 10:26:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 17310).
We cached around Broken Hill today, & thoroughly enjoyed our tour around the area. We ended up finding a variety of container types and sizes hidden along the way. Today we found 8 caches (& DNF'd 0). Thank you for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards

A meandering tour in outback NSW after spending some time at Cobar.
Round and round the rocks or rock around the lanyard tree (imagine music playing)
Took a bit of looking as the entire area is cache hiders heaven.

Gave this 1 a go but it looks like it’s gone or well berried – all 3 off caches along this road are gone – I think someone is having a funny at our expense – the area around tree looks very tipped upside down – no rock left unturned – I think others have tried to find this cache but didn’t log a DNF.
Found with BorisB&Natasha on our fun trip. We found a few caches and seen some great sites and places. Thanks to those that placed caches so we could enjoy our trip even more. TFTC

What a great tree and a great location. If you visit make sure to look a the information boards across the road. Lots of local information there. Left a lanyard. Thank you for the cache whitedoggang.
