# 7144. We have had a big day so far, leaving Melbourne early to do the Mt Beckworth series. Now we are on our way to the Beaufort Bash (no - here we are at The Bash).

What a huge crowd has descended on The Pub for a great evening. Good food and a lot of chat. Unfortunately, no alcohol for me as I am still the chauffeur today and we are staying at Lake Burrumbete so have a bit of a drive back.

Thanks for a great evening ChooknChunk.

After a great night before and a great day out caching in the area it was a great way to end the day with good food and friends. Thanks for all the work that went into the weekend. I had a ball, and very happy to will a TB. TFTC.

Attended this event with great pleasure. It was terrific to catch up with known cachers and to have the opportunity to meet some new ones. Even had a chance to meet some of the locals! Don was a wonderful host and my meal was delicious and reasonably priced. Hope we are welcome back there again at some time in the future! Thanks chooknchunk for organising this event. A very well run evening.

Friends, Fine Food and Fun - What a fabulous evening.

Our appreciationand thanks to chooknchunk for organising a great event .

Finally a cool drink after a hot day's caching today. The pub was filling up nicely so we grabbed a couple of drinks and ordered our meals. It was great catching up with old friends and meeting up with some new ones. We mixed and chatted for most of the night until it was time to go back to Ballarat for the night. We all put in for the CFA raffle and we hope to have added to their coffers. Swaggie1 asked me what I would like to win and I replied a "bottle of red". Fat chance she said with pprass et all around, but I was confident. Sure enough we did win a red and our overnight host sully1 won FTF and this was her 5000th find. Congrats to sully1.

Thanks must go to Jo and Glenn (chooknchunk) for organising such a good event, we all enjoyed the new area to go caching in and we have added another place to come back to for some caching and exploring.

You know guys, now that the first one is down we will be all booking out this weekend in 2015 so we can do it all again.

See you both on the caching trail sometime soon. Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin

whooaaaaa what a ride! This weekend totally exceeded our expectations. We were blown away by the response to the event. To sit back at dinner and and see everyone enjoying themselves was so fulfilling. Thank you to all who travelled from near and from far. We have enjoyed all the feedback from the caches and have listened to much advice, and we will continue to check and fine-tune as we go. There is no substitute for jumping in as a learning experience, and we are loving every minute.

Congratulations to sully1 for FTF (and for her 5000 as well).
Also congratulations to Phetlern for 10,000.
We believe there were other milestones achieved that weren't pointed out - congratulations to all who achieve such fun numbers in this game.

Finally, a big thank you to our supporters of this event: Bunjil, Pyrenees Shire Council, LouiseAnn for the extra caches (including the great night cache), Nards' kids for the swag, and to Don and Jim at the Golden Age Hotel.
The raffle raised a total of $212 (over the 2 events) for the Raglan CFA. Thankyou to everyone.

Smilie No. 789.

Thanks to chooknchunk for oranising this event. It gave us the opportunity to meet up with caching people that we know and also to put names to faces to cachers we have only read about on logs.

The evening was very sociable and well organised.

#5000 - Came up to Beaufort this morning, to collect some smilies with The Swaggies, after they arrived to stay with us last night for the weekend. I pulled the pin after lunch and returned home, very disciplined and driving past several caches, so that I could return, with bogonghazy, for this event later on in the day and make it my 5000th find. I couldn't think of a better way to mark my Milestone find. Great company, great value meal, and a great event as well. Chooknchunk, you've done a fantastic job, for running your first event, and bringing a tribe of cachers to Beaufort for the weekend. We had all originally planned on returning on the Sunday for the BBQ, but this wasn't meant to be. Thanks so much for the FTF, wow, what a bonus to add to my Milestone cache. I love my Mug and bag of swaps. A great idea having the raffle, and the local CFA to benefit from the proceeds, was another awesome idea. Thanks again to you both, and Congrats for all your new hides as well. Great effort!!!! Cheers, Lisa

Thanks for organizing the weekend chooknchunk!

A fantastic end to a great day of caching, it was great to see so many like minded people here tonight talking about the days caches, close calls with snakes and celebrating milestones. Thanks for organising this event you have done well.

Edited because I'm stupid!

Worked a 12 hour night shift then picked up my chauffeur, and we drove straight to Mount Beckworth (when I say we, BettyBoo3747 did all the driving, and I did all the snoozing!) After doing the Beckworth Beckons series during the day, we came back into town for the event.
And a very busy time it was! Great to see so many cachers at a country event.
A good venue with nice meals and alcohol (except for Peter's wine, although I did notice he drank it all!)
Fabulous organization and execution.
Thanks, Robmc.

We had a great days caching - thanks for all the new offering Louise and ChookNChunk. Nicely finished with a generous dinner - they did a great job of getting those meals out so quickly.

Big thanks to all the sponsors too. Hope we spent enough to buy the Raglan Fire Brigade a new truck. or bucket.

Suscoe headed for the pub tonight after a big day of caching and travelling with Phetlern.
What a terrific crowd of cachers was assembled in this delightful watering hole.
We had a lovely evening enjoying chatting with fellow diners.
A really good night and well done to Jo and Glen for organising such a terrific evening.
Great food, a great location and terrific company.
Thanks so much for the wonderful effort put into making this weekend such a success.

Attended this great event tonight. What a fantastic event meeting up with familiar faces and also some new faces. A lot of tale swapping and cache talk was happening. Many laughs were had as stories were exchanged. The meal was beautiful and the bar staff new what a Double Sars drink was so I was wrapped.
Congratulations to all the prize winners for the night. A big thanks to Chooknchunk for organising this event.

We were there at 6:00 PM with a large group in a very nice hotel with good food and the beer was actually icy!
A very well organised event and the day was very enjoyable with fantastic caches published the day before for us to enjoy and tour the area.
Good to catch up with our friends and recount many old stories Big Grin
Well done chooknchunk for a great effort.

What an outstanding event. The geokids were hungry, the food was delicious and the company fantastic. Chooknchunk, you went to an extraordinary amount of trouble to place fantastic caches, to organise a well supported dinner and to raise some funds for your local fire brigade with a raffle with brilliant prizes. Thanks so much, we appreciated it, we had a great day.

Sorceysal and I had a great day and were ready to get cleaned up and eat.
We were early arrivals used the amenities to look presentable. It soon became obvious that you had attracted a lot of cachers from near and far. I am sure they all enjoyed both the variety of your hides and the effort that you have gone to in placing them.
Met up with quite a few friendly faces and happily chatted over a beautiful meal. The raffle was great - I don't usually have any luck with these. It capped off a truly pleasurable day.
Thanks for putting this on for us all chooknchunk

Thanks for this event chooknchunk. Great to see everybody there. Good raffle. Thanks for the prize. Lovely chicken parma. Loved all of the new caches put out to co-incide with this event. We had a great afternoon and night.

After a very hot day geocaching this event was a very welcome respite and a chance to recharge the batteries after a hard days geocaching. It was great to catch up with many of the usual suspects and to meet some new faces. Well done on your first event and what a whopper of an event it was. Chooknchunk you are a credit to the geocaching community with the generosity of your time to get the events organised as well as the associated geocaches out in the wilds. We are very grateful for your hospitality. Thanks from Andrew, Erica, Cameron and Elliot.

The aim of today was to attend The Beaufort Bash and find some of the new caches placed for the occasion in the company of 6hinemoa2. We had a lot of laughs and great conversation along the way.

Thankfully we arrived at the event early. We were both dirty and smelly and needed to change and make ourselves presentable before others arrived. It was a great venue, with nice meals and company. Great to catch up with old friends and meet and chat with some new ones. Thanks applepie for the bag of goodies. I will certainly pass it on in another cache. I even won a prize in the raffle. Thanks to the organisations that donated prizes with all the proceeds going to the Raglan CFA. All the CFA's do a great job and they are coming up to the busy time.

Thanks chooknchunk for the great organisation and for the variable caches put out especially for the event.

29-Nov-14
A fantastic turn out and a heap of prizes along with an excellent meal made this an event to remember for me. Thanks so much to chooknchunk for the event and all the great caches I have found today. I look forward to tomorrow's BBQ and having a more restful day.

24-Nov-14
Sorry for the late will attend but we will be there!!! 2 Adults, 2 kids, a bucket of snot, wipes and a good sense of humor!

24-Nov-14
Wow what a great response! Awesome!

Everything is all good and ready to go. Did a final cache run check today - 27 in total, all sitting there, have weathered nicely over the past 2 months, but all bone dry inside and perfectly in place and waiting for those FTF signatures. We didn't see any nasties that had moved in in the meantime, but the weekend is forecast to be warm, so the normal precautions for bush caching should be taken.

There's rumour of a nightcache too (not ours). If things go according to plan, the caches should be available Friday afternoon sometime.

There will be a FTF prize and we have been fortunate enough to have had some nice little goodies donated that we will run a small raffle for - proceeds to go to the Raglan CFA. There will be a trackables table too.

For those coming up Friday - our BBQ on our decking at Raglan will be hot, so byo everything and email or phone us for directions. Very informal - not an event. 0423 493 052

Take care everyone and see you soon.

24-Nov-14
If it's not too late I will tag along with the The Tritonz. One seat for me please.

23-Nov-14
+ 3 more adults please. Looking forward to it

23-Nov-14
Sorry it's late as I had to make sure a previous invitation wasn't going ahead. I have not heard back from them (thankfully) so both Chris and I would love to come to dinner if there is still room. We are looking forward to catching up and caching in your backyard.

11-Nov-14
Amendment to my original log please. I'll have another adult with me now, so it's two for sully1 thanks.
Looking forward to it.

04-Nov-14
Thanks to Sully1 we will be able to attend this event (with accommodation in Ballarat) so we will have two Swaggies looking forward to dinner at the Beaufort bash.

Hi Chooknchunk, We (BettyBoo3747 and I) would love to join you for your event.
Thanks, Robmc.

For anyone thinking of attending this event, we have just found out that pretty much all of the regular accommodation in Beaufort has been snatched from under our noses to house all the workers on the new Beaufort to Ararat freeway. There are currently (as of tonight 21 October) 7 rooms available at the Golden Age Hotel (ph 5349 2499 - but book asap) and I am waiting to hear back from the Beaufort Hotel. There are powered sites at the Caravan Park (but do mention the geocaching weekend to get these). And we are hosting some free camping on our property too. If you are really stuck, please contact either Jo (chook) or Glen (chunk): [email protected] or Jo's mobile 0423 493 052

On the fun side - there are currently 25 caches already out there, weathering, approved and ready to be released at some time on Friday afternoon (no set time can be guaranteed). And a couple more still in the wind. Not all around town though - make sure your maps cover surrounding localities. All caches are accessible by 2WD.
