A great cache to finish the journey today

01-Apr-24
Off for an early morning walk to Edward's Point and back. Started the walk at 7.30 am with an expected sunrise of 7.35. As such, I took the beach track first. The sunrise happened later than expected with the very low cloud cover, but when it did show itself, it was a very deep red. Just beautiful. Then it soon vanished behind more clouds before reappearing well later, higher and yellower. Found all the geocaches and was back to the car at 9.45 am. A total time of 2 hours, 15 minutes with 11 finds, and no DNFs. It was great to find a number of ammo cans in the bush, too. Lovely, enjoyable walk and was very peaceful until the sun was well up and other people started the walk.Well worth the walk out to this one and see the water on all sides. So that is Duck Island, I have to get there at some point in time. Signed this old geocache at 8.30 am, and I'm glad it was still an anno can. Thanks for the cache, Dromaniax and Bushfire.HunterPS. TB dropped

Whilst looking for a couple of earthcaches to fulfill a challenge I saw that I had forgotten to log this one on the day that Alansee and I walked the whole way to the end! I remember saying that there were no relaxing items in the ammo can but must have not sent it through. Thanks for the Cache Dromaniax.

Thanks for this series it was a great fun walk. Down to the point and back, The flies and insects were a killer and the sun didn't make it any easier but it was worth the effort, Plenty of jellyfish and puffer fish in the water so probably not a good idea for a swim.Cache was all in good order, log signed and replaced back in its original hiding spot!.

I've been looking at doing this walk for years but never quite managed to fit it in. Today, I found myself with some spare time in the area and seeing it was such a beautiful day decided to head off. I didn't see anyone along the path the whole time other than a couple of fishing boats as I neared the point. There were hardly any footprints even once I got out onto the sand. Such a beautiful place and I really enjoyed the quietness of the area with only just the birds for company. I'm glad I've finally managed to get out here after all this time. Such a relaxing area, after finding the cache I enjoyed just sitting here for a while taking in the calmness before a quick splash in the water and heading back off. Thanks for the cache.

Father's Day family adventure #11 and find #200!

Thanks for today's Edwards Point caching adventure Bushfire and Dromaniax. This was a great hide to finish it all off, with a particularly remote feel to it.

Felt like we were a long way from anywhere by the time RikkiJayMudd and I reached this one. Just us and the seabirds, the sun and the view. Thanks for an excellent caching adventure. Now to quickly get back to the car with time for cake!

Have been eyeing off doing this walk for some time and finally have had the chance to do it today. It's a very nice walk and thanks for placing a cache out this way

Tftc bushfire. In the little hamlet of St Leonards for a couple of nights with friends. Post lunch cache trip after finding 4 beforehand.
A cool but sunny winter's day when we started out on the bikes, but a squall came over on the jogging leg back from the actual point, got a little damp, but refuge not too far away back at the house meant it didn't really matter.
Quick finds for each of the 4 I searched for, and brand new logs in each.

20-Jun-23
Replaced the cache and changed the coordinates. The changes to the area in the last few years are amazing and not in a good way. There has been significant erosion and I wonder if this area will be come an island in the next few years.

20-Jun-23
A nice day to head down to the Bellarine Peninsula. I have my trusty Geotuscon for now. I picked up a couple in Bamganie Forest on the way down an it is now time to take the trip out to Edwards Point in the beautiful Port Phillip Heads Marine National Park (Ramsar Convention listed) area that is Swan Bay. Out with Dromaniax on a maintenance run as CO on behalf of Bushfire.
In case you wonder where all the mosquitos go during winter, it is here, they were thick and constant.
All the caches were found and maintained/replaced/added as we worked our way towards Edwards Point. The area was fascinating as you could see the land area getting smaller that may end up cutting through and making Edwards Point an Island.
Thanks for placing this traditional cache in such a lovely area Bushfire

Coordinates changed to:
S 38° 13.349 E 144° 41.831

Distance from original: 102.0 feet or 31.1 meters.

This area has lost a lot of sand and flora during storms over the last two years. The cache has been relocated to a much safer space, and closer to where it was originally placed over 20 years ago.

No luck here today Sad great walk though.

I first visited this location way back in 2008 and later odopted it from Geojo who took up other interests but has to contiue to head out caching occasionally. She deserves the pats on the back for thinking about this location way back when it was placed. Time I gave it a F.P. I would hate to be in this area during a storm as I have seen the damage that has happened over the years, and the lost ammo cans.

The weather was nice and we were due a family venture out which just so happen to take us down this way along the Bellarine. We have often enjoyed this walk before however there were some notable caches along the trail that we were yet to tick off. The path was a little over grown but the views surrounding us and the tranquility around more than made up for it. Only 2 of the 5 were bold enough to continue up the point, they sure missed out on some incredible wildlife and view over to Queenscliff and Swan Island. We also spotted Duck Island not far off either, perhaps we'll journey over there another day ? Thanks to the very detailed hint the cache was located in quick time, it had been a while since I'd seen one of these. The cache was a little rusty but the logbook was signed with ease and the journey back began. On writing this log now I've realized this is the second oldest cache we've ever found, thanks for keeping this one up and going for so long Bushfire, Almost 20 Years !!!

*Found on the 1 Nov 2021 @ 1:53 pm.*
*Cache find # 11926.*

Today I headed over to Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula with biggles1024 & buhfuhguh for a bit of caching fun and adventure.
I had been wanting to take a stroll along this trail to Edwards Point for some time now but it had never seemed like the right time when I had been over this way previously as we always had other plans but today we were able to make time to take the walk, it was certainly a great day for it.
This one was certainly the main draw card along this walk as it is one of the first 500 Victorian caches, we made our way to GZ where it wasn’t long before the cache was found and the log was signed.
Now for the walk back.

**Thanks to Bushfire for placing this cache.**

**Find #4779**
**Traditional Find #2990**

I headed out with Steve and Michael to the Bellarine Peninsula to target some of Victoria's 500 oldest caches and a few other caches of interest.
The weather was perfect all day and we covered quite a bit of ground on foot and driving. Some progress was made on a long term Wherigo too.

**Thank-you to Bushfire for placing this geocache**

Out caching this lovely sunny day out cleaning up the Geeling area a bit with Biggles and Stemicmitsar. Searching for the usual hit caches and other odds and ends along the way

Thanks for the cache and being part of a good day out today.

08-Aug-21
Do not do this one at high tide, lot of fun to find on a brisk winter day. Log signed thanks

13-May-21
We finally made it to the end of Edwards Point. Not that much birdlife round today as we might have expected, but maybe it was the weather. Interesting scenery and feature though!
Another great sized cache!

Off on another day caching around the Bellarine Peninsula with our good mate Rebel Acts.
A mixture of trails and other caches. The trails here are a bit of a treat as rather than the preform tubes or similar containers we have generally experienced in the past, most containers are of good size and often are a bit of a feature of the theme in the cache name.
We were racing the weather a bit trying to get in as much as possible before rain set in, but still had to battle showers. Lucky we were prepared.
All in all, another great day caching.

All logs signed with RASP (Rebel Acts, SKI Pair).

15-Feb-21
The second day in lockdown and only allowed out to exercise. We have been eyeing off the caches out to Edwards Point for a while, checked to see if they were in our 5km radius and they were, so off we went. It was reasonably cool today, and the breeze was light making it perfect weather for a long walk. It was indeed a long walk, but absolutely worth it. Our legs and feet were tired, but sitting at the point and drinking in natures beauty made all that disappear. Thank you, Bushfire for this cache and for this series, it has been an absolute pleasure.

14-Jan-21
I have a free day to go out caching so today I have started out with this power trail and then fill in the rest of the day with a hike and some water caches. Well this is the one I have come to find and bang right at GZ, I love it when a plan come together. Signed the log and started back to the car for some water caches. TFTC

Found this one out in the open a fair way from GPS GZ & appropriate description. I placed it back where I thought it should be. Fantastic view here. Well worth the walk!

Found the final cache along the peninsula, fantastic walk, feet got a bit wet but overall a huge success

What a gorgeous Autumn day to get out for a walk and Bike ride. Sunshine at last, nearing the end of Autumn. Very little wind and calm seas. Lots of boats out fishing with easing of the Covid lockdown. We did the full cycle trip along the path on to the beach. With low tide, I found the sand firm enough to cycle on. (Though my partner in crime didnt agree and walked lol)
After a short time waiting for my search partner, soon located the cache.
Thanks for placing and maintaining Bushfire.
TNLN.

We found the cache contents and all forms of waterproofing were ineffective as pretty much everything was very wet. Still usable but quite wet. Tried to dry out the log for a time. It all smelt strangely of fish bait?? Anyone heading down in future might bring a new log and ziplock bag and rag to dry out inside the container(s)

Caching through this area, it was nice to give the phone to the kids and allow them to lead us down this track. Never been to this arm of the Peninsula before so we were feeling grateful for the chance to explore.

With pelicans on the sandbank and the water like glass we took our time down here. Such a beautiful place and if we could give more than one favourite for this particular cache we would. Thank you for the upkeep and placement. Will definitely recommend this series to others.

With my goal today to reach cache # 2000 at Edwards Point it was awesome to finally reach this location after a great walk in. Well worth the milestone at this location, loved watching all the activity that was going on here, all the birds, the smaller boats out fishing on the bay and the big ships steaming past. And the weather out here for this time of the year was stunning. Thx Bushfire for placing a cache out here, such a pleasure to find it today.

05-Feb-19
Set off on the walk to Two Bay Lookout at about 10:30am. Weather cooler than expected & wind had little strength to it. A perfect day for a walk & of course some hunting. What a great spot. Glad we brought along the bino's. Plenty of birds enjoying being far from the madding crowd.

17-Nov-18
Thanks to the long weekend back home, I was able to pop over the ditch for the mega and a ‘few’ caches along the way! I was really after the numbers on this trip, planning to achieve 50+ each of the three days for a challenge – something that is getting much more difficult back home! The weather was great and I had a ball thanks to all the CO’s placing great caches!

Today’s aim was to find some more along power trails and trailets, and a few interesting others. I am so grateful for the variety in the trails! And what a nice place to go for a walk in the afternoon, and a great spot for the cache! Must love these old ones that took a person to a beautiful place. It felt like the end of the world Smile TFTC!!

With a Saturday free for a change I was keen to get out and find a cache or three but didn't want to go too far afield. So after studying the map for a little bit I finally decided on a walk out to Edward's point with the weather being nice. A message to Neville_devil and of course he was in. Knowing Ausfox; had already done these I didn't expect he was keen on coming but there was a couple of caches on the trail that had appeared since he was here last so he was in too Smile.
Finally after a bit of zig zaging to get accross to the last one we were here. After a short search both Neville and I clapped eyes on the prize at the same time. I grabbed the TB that was in the cache and also score another gjm3191 pathtag a different one too. Whoo hoo.

Thank you Bushfire for a great series getting us out and about of this nice day even if the wind was blowing a bit now it was still very enjoyable. A favourite point to finish off

Find #3688. Found @ 11:21 with The Good Lady Wife.

We're in Portarlington on a getaway, and getting in some caching is a part of that plan. Today's plan was walking out to Edwards Point, lunch in Queenscliff, and knocking off some more of the D2B trail.

We decided to walk to the point, then cache backwards, so this was the first one. It was a pity that the day was slightly rainy, so we had to deal with intermittant showers as we walked.

The cache was nicely concealed, so much so that I was almost on top of it before I spotted it. We saw some interesting tracks in the sand on the way here (and took a picture on the way back)

Took nothing, left trackable, signed log and visited some other trackables.
Thanks for the cache Bushfire

Caching around the Bellarine today, prior to attending the Bushfire Big Birthday Bash.
At last we have arrived at our final destination on this walk.
It was interesting seeing Duck Island across the way, the site of our kayak fun earlier in the year at The Tritons' event.
This one took us a while to find, but when we found it we could see that the chain was plainly visible, but a bit easy to not see.
The cache was in good shape.
Then we checked out all the water birds and the flotilla of Pelicans on the end of the sand spit. What a lovely place to be on a Saturday afternoon.
But now it was time to retrace our steps.
**Thanks for placing this cache Bushfire**

After a DNF here a couple of months ago I heard that a replacement was on the way. I enjoyed my first trip out here so I was more than happy to return with the CO today for the trip to the edge of the point. Or perhaps it was the point of the Point? Smile
Great weather and an awesome day to be out.
The cache is a large container and has a chain, so it could be found quickly even though it is in the bushes. Should be pretty safe from muggles out here...
Thanks, Bushfire - a FP from me for this great location!

I have down to this location and placed a new ammo can a little closer to the point and hope that the fury of the sea does not carry this guy away.

02-Oct-17
After three DNF's it is time for a long walk down to this lovely part of the coast and have another ammo can ready to place if indeed it is missing.
Funeral tomorrow (Tuesday) so Wednesday looks like a wander is in order.

23-Aug-17
With the sun shining Smile I set off for the north eastern parts of the Bellarine Peninsula. It's been more than three years since I cached between St Leonards and Portarlington, so I had quite some catching up to do. Starting off early in the morning walking around Edwards Point Reserve with gloriously bright blue skies I continued into the afternoon, by which time the skies had darkened and brought with them cold downpours. I kept caching in the hard rain thinking the adverse weather conditions keeping muggles away would mean easier caching, but by the 10th DNF Sad of the day (a new record for me [B)]) I headed back home. Despite the miserable afternoon it was still a worthwhile day's outing where I explored some new places Big Grin.

This was the main target for today, and I headed for GZ at low tide to make the most of the walk.
I had first tried cycling along the beach but after 1km realized that approach wasn't working very well. I returned to the car and headed back out to the point along the walking track.
I made it to GZ much faster than expected (under 20 minutes), but it took me a lot longer than that searching for the cache. All I could see was the little tree with a chain on it a few metres from GZ, as mentioned by Crack'n'LeeLee. Despite some digging around and looking in a radius of 50m I couldn't do as well as some other cachers who have found it as recently as March Smile.

Even with a DNF here this was the highlight of the day. Lovely remote place.
Thanks Bushfire.

TFTC. A great walk for these caches

20-Feb-17
Set out today with 2beez to get our 700th find and chose this one.
After spending at least 45 mins at GZ looking for this, reading previous logs, searching high and low, poking with sticks hoping to hear thump under the sand, LeeLee messaged a geo group for help .
Help was quickly at hand but we realised the cache must not be here.
About 25- 30metres from GZ there were trees blown over and washed into the beach. We joked the cache could be there. After reading a log that mentioned 'anchor chain' 2beez checked out the trees and found a chain half buried into the sand. Alas there was nothing on the end. Even after digging down a good 30cm. Nothing to be found.
Although it is exciting to think our 700th now has a story and could have been buried treasure. (we hoped)
We believe this was the chain tied to the cache and it was no where to be found for us.
Attached is a photo of the chain. If CO can confirm this is the chain then #needsmaintainence
Thanks for a good walk to this area.

29-Oct-16
We woke up early, looked out the window and were happy to see beautiful blue skys. After a helping coffee we headed out with the Edwards Point Trail in our sights. We filled up on fish'n'chips before we started.
We've fallen in love with this area and can't wait to come back.

Catching up on old logs and couldn't remember if we'd put our names on this one.
Took the opportunity on a lovely winters afternoon to make the trek back down to the point and double check the log.
A quick search and we found our names securely on the log, so all good. Grabbed the TB whilst we were there keep it travelling on the way. TFTC

Don't you hate it when you think you have made the last cache and sit down to appreciate the views. Then sneak a final look at geosphere and realise you missed one with your original search. So off to find the last one and then time to turn for home. Saw some wonderful shells and a very cool piece of old china. My family would have loved being here, but instead they preferred staying in bed, so I'll enjoy the scenery and head back home.
Left TB for the next intrepid explorer.

Found on our 2016 Geelong trip. When planning our fantastic day trip with suss vulture, we decided to complete the Edward's Point walk, to get these six caches along the way. We went to the furthest cache first and then worked our way back. Despite the muggy weather, it was a LOVELY walk along different environments - bushland, boardwalk, lakes, sands. So beautiful to see this new perspective of the Bellarine Peninsula. Once we got to GZ, the cache was found after a short search - nice hide and a very good quality container! Spectacular views from here as well! TNLNSL. TFTC Bushfire!

A bit of a chat with some local cachers at today's Christmas party, they reassured me that I should indeed try my luck out here this afternoon.
It was suggested that as I had my bike with me, I should ride as far as possible out Edwards Point.
After parking the VT in the cul-de-sac at the end of Swan Parade, I set of with 2 pens and my partly charged iPhone4.
Soon enough I reached the viewing area and hid the bike in the bushes, continuing of foot.
What a great walk this ended up being.
So many birds and not a soul in sight.
The nice sized cache was found after spotting the anchor chain. Wink
Signed, photographed and returned. Smile
All good here. [^]
I then continued out to the end of the point for a look around.
On my return I noted that the tide was actually rising and I had to detour to higher ground on a few occasions.
Walked back to the bike, collecting another two caches on the way.
Found all six and reached the car with 4% battery left. Red Face
It was nice chatting with you at the event this afternoon and thank you for bringing me to a place that I can assure you, I would never have visited otherwise.
A favorite point for the experience. Big Grin

Headed to Drysdale with Sorceysal and Tess the Geodog today in order to help SS get Oh so closer to the 3k milestone.
With that series knocked off in really good time, I convinced SS that a nice casual walk would do her crook hip good here, and Tess needed to stretch her legs too.
Loved the walk and so glad we trusted Bushfire's instinct and local knowledge of the area to really enjoy the views and really take in nature on this quiet peninsula.

Another ammo bolted to the tree. Adding a fave again for the real container and the thoroughly enjoyable walk. Now to make our way back again and a lunch break

Thanks again Laurie for bringing us out here

03-Jul-15
A days caching with Bogonghazy and geodog Tess to complete the D2B trail of caches as well as a few of the local ones. The quandary here was "will we or won't we" do the walk. Me with a bung hip, but what the heck off we went, This was showing on the GPS as in the water and I was going to make BH swim for it. Thankfully for him it was on dry land. Logged and off to the car for a cuppa to warm up. Thanks for the walk Laurie. Cheers Caz

I had been looking forward to these caches ever since I had taken up this addictive hobby. With a weeks holiday and the prospect of no rain today, it was the perfect opportunity to turn these green boxes into happy faces. So once a suitable parking spot was found, I grabbed all my gear and headed out into unknown territory.
The wind is still relentless here. Had no problems with the hide, it's not going anywhere in a hurry. Wink All of today's finds had very accurate co-ords, makes the day so much more enjoyable. I continued on right to the point for a look, is that Duck Island over there ?? It looks so close. Thanks for a very enjoyable couple of hours in a place I had never visited. A fave point from me. TFTC Bushfire. Big Grin

Lovely walk along the Point today.
Thankyou!! Smile

14-Jun-15
Our party of walkers had their lunch right down at the point, so I finished early and went back a little way to look for this. Found with a fair amount of sand attached, so I suspect it had been washed over by a very high tide. However the contents were dry, and I was happy to take the "Little Red Train" to continue his journey. Beautiful spot!

Had a great day out from Melbourne today doing this series of caches by Bushfire. It's such a peaceful escape from the city with beautifully clear water and great colours. Took a bit longer to get out the end than we thought but after wading through some water around the beach got there in the end. Well maintained caches and surprisingly dry for the environment. Took nothing and left the little train from the UK. Enjoy the seachange little guy.

Took advantage of the great weather and headed out to grab these few caches. The walk out here is great with only one muggle on the point fishing.
This is what makes caching enjoyable for me, going to places I otherwise wouldn't of gone
As I approached I could see a muggle in the distance hoping they weren't close to the cache, but luckily they were some distance off so I could go about my search without strange looks. Hidden well out of veiw.
Thanks for the Cache Bushfire & bringing me out here.

The sun is shining, the sky is clear, a beautiful day for geocaching and an awesome spot for a geocachers. This one will be even more memorable as it is our 400th cache since starting our caching journey in January this year. Sitting and having my morning tea now on this fantastic little point. TFTC

Finally got here after about an hours travel and caching. Found this one fully exposed but with everything still attached. Recovered and hopefully the weather won't re-expose this one too much.
Now for the trek back...!

Thanks Bushfire for the cache

Massage oil was a wonderful idea, but where is the masseur? Really enjoyed the walk on a day when all was misty and the difference between sea and sky was difficult to discern Giving a fav point for the series Thanks Bushfire

If It wasn't for the chain prop wouldn't of found it. It was a adventure to get to as the tide was fast approaching TFTC

Another quick find (thankfully because I think the tides on its way in) TFTC Today instead of attacking more of the rail trail we decided we'd do something different. So we ventured down to St. Leonards and got some fish and chips for lunch then went for a walk along the Edwards Point beach.

Diverted to Edwards Point on the way home from Jetty Road and the G2Q trail. A nice walk in along the beach from the last cache and accurate co-ords led to an easy find. I wondered if I would get wet feet here as my map showed the cache in the sea. All was well though and thoroughly enjoyed the lovely walk in this peaceful area. Methinks these last 2 caches are best done at low tide. Thanks very much to the legendary Bushfire for this series of caches. A favourite for me.
