Time for this one to go. Reviewing the SH1 series and removing the more difficult ones to access given this busy stretch of road. Container removed.
This one kept me occupied for a little longer than it should have. I looked near all the obvious hint objects and then realised there were other less obvious ones. Got there in the end - - - - it wasn't that long really. TFTC .
Felt a bit conspicuous here with so much traffic but then everyone is zooming along so fast that they probably didn't notice us. Found with debsnz
A very busy road but pulled over in the side road to stop and make the find. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
I came over to New Zealand to meet my son, who was staying for nearly six months on the other side of the world. Our intension is, to travel now for 4 weeks through this fantastic land and visiting a lot of fine spots on both islands.
Met in Auckland, our first trip led us to the Far North with some spectacular locations. It was a lot of driving, but we think, it was worth the result.
The second part of our travelling route led us to the south. Going via Hamilton with some fine locations, Hobbiton was an absolutely must of our "unexpected journey" . Went then to Tauranga with a hard upclimb to Mt. Maunganui, visited Rotorua to see lot of vulcanic activities, have had a lot of fun with Zorbing and Claybird shooting and drove then to Taupa, to doing Skydiving.
Napier with it's beautiful Art Deco district and the great Aquarium was the next stop.
Final destination on the North Island was Wellington, were we visited some great places and met some friends from Germany.
After crossing Cook Strait now we followed the east side of the southern island down to the most southern point of New Zealand.
Blenheim with its wine yards, fantastic dolphin watching in Kaikoura, the story of earthquake in Christchurch, following the famous coastline down to Dunedin with its beautiful and interesting places as well as the nice city of Invercargill were our main spots on this part of our journey.
Being in the South, the way now went up on the west coast back to the north. Crossing the Fjordland with its famous landscapes we've reached Te Anau to do a private flight over Milford Sound, then spend in Queenstown some time with the most spectacular activities ever done (Canyon jumping and Shotover canyon jetriding were some unforgetable experiences!) the way led us to the glaciers, up to the nice town of Westport and further to Abel Tasman Park to doing an unbelievable hike trough the park and an outstanding kayak tour with seal and bird watching.
Nelson, Picton; Cook Strait is waiting again for us.
Of course, even if was is not our main activity during this holidays, we were looking for some caches, which are laying beside our route.
So this cache was one of those, we've picked up.
Many thanks to Just-Lookin for this fine cache and best greetings from Germany.

It's relish making time, an annual event, so that means a drive up country to pick up the tomatoes and onions. Quick stop on the way and the cache was soon to hand. Ducked back to the car to sign the log as it was drizzling and then cache returned as found. Thanks for placing these caches here.
but obviously found cache. Thanks1236. Good to get off the road. Traffic heavy. My GPS wandering

As i was picked up just after 4am to head to the Manawatu I realised this was not going to be a dot day. This was an attempt to get 270 caches in one day. There are a couple of great circuits in the Manawatu that will help work toward this goal so thanks to the CO's that have placed them for our enjoyment.
Thanks also to my partner in geo crime and driver for the day Yetrees. Without an able driver an attempt such as this would be impracticable so thanks for enabling it.
Thanks to all the CO's for their contribution to my smilie tally.
It is forecast to be a long day geocaching, hoping to make the 270 target. To be honest I'd be pretty happy with 200, however why not go for the Emerald badge (see project-gc.com)

Tftc..... The geokids and dad grabbed this one while in New Zealand on holidays. They stayed at their grandparents place at the other end of the road..... And enjoyed grabbing, signing and replacing this.
Holidays in NZ without geocaching? No way!
Grtz. from Holland. TFTC on our way to taupo

After completing my Birthday caching in wellington the family and myself are ready for home.
So time for the drive back from wellington to wanganui, stopping at a few caches we have picked along the way.
Cache / Camo / log are in good shape.
Pulled in here and was greeted by the title description, Geo -10 and myself jumped out for the hunt on this cache.
Cheers

I'm staying on my own for 4 nights at Paraparaumu and grabbing caches here and there including a power trail today at some point near Palmerston.
Another quickie along the way, Thanks.
Another quickie along the way, Thanks.
[green] On my way to Palmerston North for Christmas, and caching along the way. An awesome day to be out and about. Except for the traffic. It seems that everyone is on the road. Getting back onto the road, especially if crossing lanes, can involve a ten minute wait!
And that's the problem. I am not enjoying this little series. Don't get me wrong, the caches are fine. No micros, locations mostly okay, parking mostly okay. It's just that I am doing them today. Looks like half of New Zealand finished work on the 18th and everyone is heading out. And everyone else is heading in. Both directions flat out busy. Crazy.

A quick easy find, but as the log was wet and disintegrating, we added a waterproof sheet. TFTC
tftc another one found on SH 1 an extremely busy road today all care was required
Nice easy find enroute to Otaki. Paper a bit damp, but could still write on it. TFTC.
[Red] thanks for Supporting the Geokids program, making geocaching more fun for kids across New Zealand so kids aren't sad when they find geocaches . Have dropped some swag into the cache.[/Red]

Co-ords out by 7-8m for us, but we found it by actually just sighting it anyway. Have tried to cover a little better. Log quite damp and starting to get soft. Managed to dry it a bit. TFTC
We found this one pleasingly quickly after reading some of the DNF and long search logs. Thanks.
I had to visit Waikanae for work today. It was such a cracker of an afternoon I decided to cruise up to Otaki and find some caches along the way. I had to have a good fossick about before I found this one. TFTC
Number 7 of 7 that I wanted to grab today. I had been saving this series for dot days, but as I was closing in on my next milestone number, I thought it would be appropriate to log number 400 at an upcoming GC Birthday Event cache, so I made the trip out to grab some of this series! Apologies for the cut and paste logs on this cache. All caches were found in good order, with nothing out of the ordinary to mention. TFTC.
We sometimes use Te Waka Road to avoid the traffic buildup before Otaki. Easier today, the long weekend rush was yet to start. TFTC.
Heading off for a six day sortie though the lower North Island with the primary reason being to pick up the CANZ caches we need to complete the North Island half of the challenge.
On our way north to Wanganui after a couple of days in Wellington. Scary how much traffic there is on this road and how fast it's going, especially when you are stopped. Mr S once more made the find. he looked at the correct hint instead of all the other ones.
Thanks Just-Looking. One more smilie on the road north.

I cannot understand how I missed this on my last visit. Nice quick find today. Thanks for the cache.
My Daughter and I found this cache while out cycling. we also picked a few apples along the way on Te Waka Rd. TFTC.
Checked this one out today on my way to an event. Cache nice and safe and where it should be. Log damp so replaced and added a few more swaps.
Quick and easy find.. DId with Mycro Man on the way to the Otaki Kite Festival. Thanks for the cache.
Heading northward. From here I can almost sense outlet-Otaki ahead.
These SH1 caches are popular. Drive up, jump out, do the business and back on your way again.
Cache in order; log signed, safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

I arrived here. At about lunch time. So I found the cache then went a little further along the road. And sat under a shady tree , put down my picnic rug and had a lovely lunch. Thanks for the cache.
Another easy find. Unbelievable amount of traffic on this stretch of road. Left glass star. TFTC.
headed out today trying to get to 1100 before the 5th having having planned a route last night, managed to do this on such a busy day more so on the state highway, I dont know how many times I was either trying to look like I was randomly talking on the phone while bent over looking for a cache, its very hard to be shady on that road, but managed it and I am sure I looked silly but hey its what caching can be about. came across some very well kept caches and some not so and only got 6 dnf on the 29 I was looking for, I added swag to all caches that had room and were in good nic, sorry about the copy and paste on the logs, as I was caching by myself I didnt take notes. thanks for the cache.
Came here on a day trip up the Kapiti Coast to knock off some of the new caches in the area. A quick find - signed log, TFTC!
Hard to be discreet when traffic is at a standstill, but finally grabbed an opportunity. Left a girl smurf in place of a Rattll rock.
TFTC Found on the way up to Ohakune. A journey that should take 3.5 hours but thanks to geocaching, took 11 hours!
10.10am. Couldn't spot this on the way north but had another try on the way back and this time picked it up. I didn't reach in far enough first time. Thanks for this series which deserves a favourite point.
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.
Every man & his dog seem to be on the road today. Makes it hard to be discreet, but I imagine no one would be to interested in what where doing.
Left a pet rock - a calf. TFTC

Ljubo has a cache at his front door! A busy spot and a bus load of muggles had to wait for a gap in the traffic. Cache was visible to a passer by. Left cache better covered. SL TFTC
We had an enjoyable Sunday morning drive picking up some of Just-Lookin's new caches along SH1 and around Te Horo. We had no problems with any of them - they truly are 'park and grabs'. Thanks very much for all of these.
Great to be out caching on a great Horowhenua day. I made this series hard for myself as I was travelling south, so I kept having to cross the road. Also I didn't manage to finish the series, but 'I'll be back'
Thanks for the series of caches Just-Lookin

Not really a post, more between a batten and the power pole, good find really hard to be discreet when it's right by a highway that never seems to be quiet
We are loving these park and grabs today. Great way to keep those numbers ticking over. Another quick easy find. SLTFTC
