What a perfect day to search for a Geocache. The weather was spot on! No wind, no rain, temp was at a cool 19 degrees and I was visiting a place I had never been too before.I was lucky enough to be chauffeured by Mr Sims_Family who had his eyes on a couple of challenge caches that I'm WAY off from claiming.I have never seen a cork tree before!! Very interesting tree indeed. I know my little crumbs would be interested in this too. Cache was spotted pretty quickly:)Thank you

I found myself at a loose end this morning mooching around the house wondering which chores i would tackle today. Bored with the possibilities i decided to escape for a while with a spot of caching. That was the perfect idea and brightened my mood instantly. Now where to go? An area i havnt been to before, perhaps with some walking in nature and a good few caches to find. Mt Beckworth looks like an excellent target, lets go! The geopooch and i were quickly in the geomobile and away.

I found this one surprisingly tricky and took quite some time going to and fro and widening my search before eventually spying the little fella. It turns out I just needed to be more thorough, the coordinates are good.

Next stop on my way around exploring a new area. Parked in one of the obvious spots and took the walk to GZ where the cache was spotted, but only after a few minutes of searching. Log was signed, cache replaced and it was back to the car.

Thanks for another one wozzle68...fav point again for the well put together hide. Like the way it blends in...

I spent the bulk of today wandering around Mt Beckworth, getting some exercise ahead of this weekend's Australasian Rogaine Champs near Avoca. Apart from being in cloud, there was very little rain, however it was very wet underfoot. Cache soon found. TFTC.

Beckworth Beckons, what an awesome series of caches. The variety of caches were exciting, and you were not sure what you would come across next. Some of the puzzles were testing, and it turned out we had to leave one behind as we could not solve it in time for our trip. All in all a superb set of caches wozzle68.

Found and signed with dalerious on a Mt Beckworth adventure. dalerious told me about the mount Beckworth challenges and series of caches not long after we met. We were looking forward to the day that would take us to this wonderful place, with it's varied assortment of cache types. It had so many positives. We had a full list, as usual, and I am so proud to say that we ticked off everything on it, and more!
We were staying in Clunes as our base for this long weekend and started our first night here with the Adlabs and their respective bonus caches Cool.
We ended up cleaning out Clunes, all but one trad which we are sure is missing.
Our time in this town, and on Mt Beckworth was memorable Big Grin. I was so excited searching for an archived cache in a secret cave. It never ceases to amaze me what you can achieve with a little pinch of determination and a whole lot of encouragement from dalerious Cool.
We thank all the CO's for providing and maintaining the caches undertaken here. So grateful to you all Big Grin.

Found day 3 of a somewhat impromptu solo caching and camping trip to Victoria from Adelaide.

I had planned to spend a week travelling, caching and camping along the Great Ocean Road, but my travelling companion had to postpone it due to other commitments. I was still keen to go away somewhere this week as well, so decided to head to the western part of the state on my own.

I created a bit of a 'menu' of specific caches of interest in the broad area that I might be in before I left home and just pottered along fairly casually, taking in the sights and grabbing what I could along the way.

I wasn't actually planning to visit this area, but I somehow managed to end up here and it was a good place to camp with what looked like some interesting walks and caches to find.

After walking up to the summit and back from Manna Gums this morning, I took a bit of a drive around the park.

Thanks wozzle68 for the cache.

After a yummy breakfast of bacon and eggs this morning at our campsite at Manna Gums, we headed out to gather up a few more of the geocaches here. Great camo! Smile

Parked nearby to go for a walk up the hill, the cache was found and is nicely hidden away

Today I made my way from Adelaide to Ballarat via a few caches and found myself in Mount Beckworth and a few other places, also making it a goal to complete majority of Ballarat geotour.
Odd being back in Victoria after over a year but it’s good to be back.

Thanks for the cache

On a caching and camping trip with day1976, he put together the list of caches, and I worked out we could camp near Mt Beckworth.
We arrived and found a good spot away from the other noisy campers, and set up, then headed back out to do some caching before getting dinner done.
Next morning we had a hot pancake each and packed up camp, then set off. We stopped here before heading up Mt Beckworth for a hike.
Nicely hidden cache, love the idea.
It took a bit of looking but day1976 was the first to spot it!

TFTC. Quick find with Algae today and a day exploring the Mount Beckworth area. Nice day to be out and about not too hot and not too cold. A great day with a couple of hikes and driving around the area. Day 7 St Arnaud Campground to Mount Beckworth Reserve - Cork Oaks Camp ground

Found after completing the chalenge trail. Just grabbing caches along the route to our camp site.
We left St Arnaud and heading in the general direction of Mount Beckworth Reserve to the puzzle trail. We stopped along the way to get multi's,puzzles and any local coucil areas. This was one of a small number of caches found on route to the reserve. We had to fix a staked tyre before we left, so it was a late start. quick find.
Came over to the 2019 mega in St Arnaud with Mogni. We where joined by jj52, Aussie M and M plus others at different times over the mega weekend. Many caches where found over the course of the 8 day trip. Targeting multi's on the way there and back plus the challenge trail in Mount Beckworth reserve. The creative trails around St Arnaud where the highlight of the trip.

Today I headed to Ballarat for a couple of events and to make a delivery but before that Mt. Beckworth was on the agenda.
We were now on our way to the secret cave but as we were walking right by this one so we stopped and looked around, jascat was looking in the right spot at first while I was looking elsewhere but then I looked in the right spot and the Cache was found.

A quick find after coming out of the nearby letterbox cache which involved some caving. Heart rate still up and panicking as I am highly claustrophobic and pushed myself to my limit to get that one. Funnily enough, once I was out was when it got worse, body still in full fear mode! This one was much easier and friendlier to find! No life or limb risked! Thanks for the cache!

Find #10137

With a Rogaining event happening tomorrow in Daylesford, I decided to make a weekend of it and camp out somewhere nearby. I had been wanting to get back to Beckworth for some time, so decided this was the ideal opportunity, so after ParkRun near home, I packed the car and off I went. The weather while not hot, was looking OK for a walk in the forest.

After the disappointment of a failed mission to the top of the hill, I had to console myself with another cache find. Big Grin Took a few minutes to locate this one, lucky there was no muggle traffic at this time of the day.

Many thanks to wozzle68 for the cache. TNLN.

We had arrived in this very beautiful area yesterday evening, and by the end of a thoroughly enjoyable late afternoon/early evening geocaching hike we had found 11 of the caches in the area. We then spent last night at Manna Gums campsite. This morning we set off on foot for what our GPS recorded as having been a 7 hour, 13 kilometre geocaching hike, with a total ascent of 585 meters and a total descent of 561 meters. After returning to our waiting hired cache-mobile we then drove on to find the rest of the caches in the area. We then spent a second night at Manna Gums campsite before leaving the Reserve, by which time the Mount Beckworth Scenic Reserve had become one of our all time favourite places we have visited in Australia - plus of course we left this geocaching playground with a full house of smilies! - not to mention the thrill of a gorgeous little Echidna who late in the day walked right up to me and then sat down between my feet - I felt so privileged! On our circuitous geocaching hike around this lovely Scenic Reserve from the Manna Gums campsite this was the next cache for us to search for, which we found soon enough on having arrived at Ground Zero. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the nicely camouflaged cache and for the interesting information on the cache page. Greetings from Zimbabwe

TFTC. We had visited this cache last year , only to discover that the original sign had been removed and replaced by a new style. This was the first opportunity we have had since then to revisit. We had a mission today we wanted to get as many of the caches on Mount Beckworth as possible today to get closer to meeting the $00 with a twist challenge. There are also two caches here that will fill in a number on the D/T grid and also a month on the Ausmer challenge.
Reached the camping area and quickly located the hide.

Last cache for the day after a big day! We were desperate to get back to our vehicles after the walk up to the Secret Cave, but this cache was just there - just a few metres from the path. James had found while waiting our return. Nicely crafted and blended in well. Nice one wozzle68.

Having just arrived home yesterday evening after an 8 day trip away[|)], today it was time to head to Ballarat as Cybergran V had wanted to a ride to attend wozzle68's 50th birthday celebration.
Harry managed to find a tree branch while reversing Surprised and gave himself an injurySad: the rear window on the canopy shattered [xx(] at the 2nd cache find for the weekend and yet by the time this was discovered at Castlemaine, many kilometres later, nothing had fallen out of the gaping hole! Whew!! [^]Cool
Cardboard and duct tape saved the day/weekend! Razz

After attending the birthday celebration tea leafotwind, Rex and I headed out doing some caches until late in the night then after a good rest thanks to an extra room at leafotwind's accommodation (which was hugely appreciated [:X]), the next day we attended the breakfast event and then (after Cybergran V rejoined us) we headed out to claim some challenge caches accompanied for a short time by both Mrs and Mr Riddell Big GrinCool

With the last cache of the 29 Smile cache finds found at 6pm on the 5th, it was time for the drive back to Shepparton, having attended 2 Cool events and only having 1 Sad DNF and 1 SurprisedRed Face Write note on a challenge cache that I do not yet meet. Red FaceSad

As I am about 8 months behind in logging, I'm resorting to template logs to catch up. Sad

Light was beginning to fade by the time we arrived here for the nearby EC. Given the tree cover it took a few minutes to locate the relevant tree and a bit of teamwork was required before the right spot and right object was located.

After having attended the second of the birthday events in Ballarat I had planned to tackle some Mt. Beckworth caches. I was joined by locus cache and CybergranV which proved fortuitous both from an energy/motivation standpoint after yesterday's 20km+ of walking as well as a couple of puzzle solves. A great day out. Thanks to either Wozzle68 or McLookers for putting out the caches and drawing me to the area.

05-Aug-18
As it was getting late in the day we decided to head straight for the Earthcache so we could visit that in daylight, and didn’t realise this was so close until locus cache pointed it out on her map.
Since it was en route to the Earthcache we made the slight detour off the path to find it.
leafotwind was the clever finder this time.
This one would have been a bit hard for Rex the GeoDog to sniff out.
Thanks for the fun you’ve given us this arvo on Mt Beckworth.
With time to only find half of them today, a return visit is a necessity.

22-Jun-18
With a new cache nearby that looked like some fun I had arranged a visit to the area with Ausfox; who had the day of work and Neville_devil who finished at lunch time. I on the other hand had worked all night finishing at 7am. So with only 3 and a half hours sleep we were of to Mt Beckworth.
On our way back down from finding our target cache in the caves we worked our way back down to the car park but before heading off we could resist one last cache for the day and with this little guy being so close to the car park it just had to be found.
We will return I am sure to find the many more caches in the area but that is it for the day here.
Thank you wozzle68 for the hide and another smiley on our map

I wasn't attending the mega this weekend, so I thought the "Easter Escape" event at Mount Worth sounded like a nice day trip, so I planned to attend, and just see whatever happened thereafter. While there, I headed off to do this cache, and was quickly joined by Perpetually Lost and Fergzter (who had done this one some time ago). It was a quick find amongst some quite bizarre looking trees.

My thanks for the cache, wozzle68.

31-Mar-18
While attending today's nearby event i couldn't let the opportunity go by of picking up these two nearby caches to the campsite so with the Fergzter and Muzza joining me we headed off for a walk. A bit of GPS funny business in this area but Muzza soon had the newly replaced cache in hand. Nice camo on this one too. Thx wozzle68 for placing these great caches for us to find.

31-Mar-18
We arrived at the Cork Oaks Picnic Ground to find wozzle68 and others already there. After spending some time discussing matters caching, we headed off to look for another couple of caches. Thanks wozzle68 for this cache and for your other caches in the area.

We arrived here today to have a look around, as it's been on our to do list for some time. The grass is still long and dry, but we would keep a keen eye out as we walk for wildlife (Snakes).
The Park is quiet, although we did see two Rangers checking out facilities at Cork Oak Campground and also noticed someone had signed the log earlier today. Our plan was to check out the park, then pick up any caches that we came across, so we started off at the n/w corner first.

We didn't get all the caches in here, but will be back to tackle the higher caches and those we missed at a later date. We found the caches we looked for and all were in good condition, thankfully there are lots of caches here to enjoy.

We found the cache here quite easily, so thank you wozzle68 for this cache placement and the series here.

This is a great cache wozzle68 and gets a big fave for us.

The camo and hide was very novel.

The cache page was very educational, and the Cork Oaks were very fascinating to see up close.

The girls thank you for bringing us to a spot with toilets, eliminating the need for a bush wee!

The views of the granite boulders on the hill side was excellent.

This fave is also for the part of the series we have completed today. We still did a few more today, so more logs to come.

We will be back another day to complete the rest of the series.

Today was planned with a cache trip to Ballarat and the Mt. Beckworth area for another geocaching adventure. DAB, Ausfox and myself met early, packed the geo vehicle with plenty of drinks as we knew today was going to be a hot day and we were on our way. We made it to our destination for the day and were greeted with a very hot Mt. Beckworth. Plenty of tall, dry grass which would have been a snakes paradise but thankfully none were seen. GPSr had us looking elsewhere before DAB spotted the cache. Log was very wet, thankfully paper wasn't mush. Stamped and replaced as found.

**Thanks for placing this trad cache and series wozzle68**
**Cache container and log was very wet**

Today I was in the company of Ausfox; and Na'wal. There had been a bit of chatter about Mt.Beckworth recently, so we decide to give this series a crack. I had never been here before, so I was really looking forward to it. We knew it was going to be warm and even though our phones said it was 31 degrees, it felt a lot warmer than that by early afternoon. Apart from a couple of walkers around the back of the mountain, we had the whole area to ourselves. A nice quick find. Because the o-ring has gone walkabout, the log was very wet. Luckily the log book is the right type of paper. TFTC wozzle68 Smile

In pursuit of new challenges I made my way to Mt Beckworth for the first time. I had a great time wandering around once I found a suitable access road into the scenic reserve.
This area is indeed aptly named. While I'm quite familiar with cork trees in Europe, it's the first time I've seen an example of these in Australia.
Took a while to find the well-camo'd cache, and while I couldn't determine how tall a wozzle is Smile, reading the previous logs helped me narrow my search.
Thanks, wozzle68.

Well this was going to be a big day for Suscoe.
Up early and off with long shadows stretching across the ground in the early morning.
A sunny day with the temperature around 30 degrees during the afternoon was going to be warm but thankfully a breeze sprung up during the morning and kept going all day and so it cooled Suscoe down at times when it was most needed.
This was the 11th find of the day.
What an amazing sight here, who would have known if it wasn't for Geocaching.
Cache in good order and a quick find.
Then suscoe enjoyed checking our the trees!!!!
Or perhaps just delaying the climb.
Thanks wozzle68, a great spot.

TFTC Out on a trip to Mt Beckworth and this was a quick smile to add to the list. A lot of muggles camping nearby but managed turn up while the camp was empty. A quick find and back to the car just as they start returning from off the mountain.

Staying at the Creswick caravan park, to do some caching in the area.

Headed out to Mt Beckworth, for a lovely drive around the reserve.
It was a bit warm today, so we just picked up the caches along the main trail.
All cache were found in good order, signed and replaced.
Many thanks for placing this cache, wozzle68, for us and others to find.

TFTC. Out for the day with the GeoFamily and half of Clan McStormy to conquer the Beckworth Beckons Series, cache number 12.
Stopped here for a bite to eat and sent the GeoRetrievers off with the GPS while we played caveman with the fireplace. Took them a while but that was OK as the snags were done by the time they brought the log to be scribbled in.
