Two of the tribe were in the area today, and what a wonderful cache for us to stop and find between other activities - thank you!! We were so fortunate with it being an overcast morning and zero muggles at GZ, and a parking spot vey nearby. After reading the logs, we were able to spot it reasonably quickly, with the hint / help of our key to get it out.We so enjoyed finding this cache - thank you so very much!!

So many muggles, cute little ones too! The camo was really well-made, I was on it and at first I thought it couldnt be it, messages CO and turned out it was it. Thanks LonelyRooster!

I was hooked by this puzzle a couple of months ago while stuck at home with a throat infection, but after all the schemes I came up with required four right-hand turns, I eventually stumbled across a YouTube video that put me on the right track and soon had the green light from the checker. I decided to wait until after Easter and the school holidays to head down from the Central Coast to attempt it, and even then I was fully expecting to find GZ muggled out. With today's inclement weather, though, I thought I'd give it a go, mainly because I didn't have anything else I could do around home, but by the time I arrived near GZ the cloud had mostly cleared and the sun was shining. It was still quite windy, though, and that must have been enough as my gamble paid off and I had the place to myself. I soon spotted what I thought must be the cache and, using a key to give me a little initial leverage, I had the cache in hand. Everything is in great condition with the log bone dry in spite of all the recent deluges. Many thanks for the intriguing puzzle, the well-made cache and all the care and attention it's received over the years.

Did the annual round of cache-checks and can report Chop-Duster is in good shape and waiting for its next visitors.(And a quiet reminder to replace the cache exactly as is for maximum stealth.)Happy geo-2024!

A week in Sydney to visit friends. Of course I also used the time to find some caches. Many thanks to all the owners for maintaining the caches.

08-Oct-23
Started to look at this puzzle a few years ago and then forgot about it. Picked it up again and with some assistance by the CO, I was off to GZ on a Sunday which I was expecting to have to avoid due to it being busy. Luckily had the place to myself and soon had everything signed sealed and redelivered. Another fun LR cache. TFTC!

#22560. We Spent an enjoyable morning cycling round Centennial Park (and surrounds), mostly doing ad labs and puzzles. Found this one on a side trip (Troodles is always keen to find puzzles she's solved). GZ was deserted (which was lucky as it was late morning on a sunny autunmn day) and I made an instant fined. Loved the carefully crafted cache container; it fits in very nicely. Right, time to start heading back to the bike hire place. TFTC.

I started to solve this by using complicated trig, then realised that wasn't required (thank goodness, as I hate trig!). A quick find for StreetWalkerNZ in an area that was (thankfully) deserted. TFTC.

TFTC from the Kayakviking!
Wow indeed. Sorted out the maths and picked what I thought would be a quiet time.
Waiting Muggles. Show off Muggles. Serious Muggles. Playtime Muggles!
In between I sorted out GZ and put on my patient pants. All good in end. Cheers KV

Wow! What a journey. Misunderstood what I needed to do and also drew the right pattern but with the wrong orientation, but with some help from Lonely Rooster I got back on track and it was really fun figuring everything out.
After confirming we finally had the right coordinates we set out to find it.
Was very surprised when we got to GZ. How were we meant to be discreet here! In the end I pretended to hide from the sun and lie down next to the cache, saw it quickly but took a long time to retrieve, had to resort to using a hair clip!
What a clever container
Thoroughly enjoyed this journey, We’re crossing our fingers that no one was watching too closely.

Just completed my annual cache-check circuit and can confirm Chop-Duster is in good order.
Happy Caching 2023!

Solved this cache years ago and I remember really enjoying the puzzle. It seems most weekends I drove past this spot is was covered in bulk muggles so I never bothered to search but today was my day!

What a brilliant camo and puzzle. A fav point for sure!

Back in Sydney for work and to continue on some caches I had solved or previously started.

Wow. This took some solving. And I made it harder with misreading the puzzle. But finally with CO's guidance I had the GZ.

Now th hunt.. not many people exactly at GZ but several nearest. So started my search and unearthed the red back. He won't bother anyone else....

Then I checked the other side and SSW something. Wow. Nicely crafted. Fav for the puzzle, cache and your help.

Thanks to Lonely_Rooster for the fun and the adventure.

5:45an Sunday morning on an early cycle I made my move on this one solved sometime ago. Wow what a wedge, thankfully I’d some high level TOTT on the bike required to extract safely. SL replaced as found and right on 6am a muggle arrived, can you believe it, phew! Brilliant hide and container Lonely_Rooster thanks #1347

Happy New Year, fellow cachers! And may 2022 bring lots of fun and interesting caches (and none of those frustrating DNFs) your way.
Just completed my "annual cache check".
Happy to replort FEG: Reflection is present and in good order.

I did have to sweep out a lot of cobweb as well as a plump red-back spider. Be careful when retrieving the cache as her bigger sister might still be there.

Cache well!

What an excellent puzzle and an equally impressive container. The camo was seamless. GeoToddler O provided world class stealth support despite several muggles. A great find TFTC!!

05-Sep-21
Like many of my mystery finds, I solved this years ago but only recently ventured out to make the grab. Having shown up at GZ at around 11 pm, the cache was soon in hand. It would have been way more difficult during the daytime.

Both the puzzle and the cache were well-constructed, and I certainly appreciated the thinking outside the box that went into this cache!

25-Jun-21
Oh, man, this cache is hard with muggles. I've been past GZ on 3 different occasions, at different times of the day since my first attempt and there always swarms of muggles. So I confess to looking this time at midnight. It wasn't planned, but I was out late not so far away and suddently realised, no muggle is going to stop me now.

Wow, fantastic container/camo. I was expecting something completely different. No wonder this cache has endured in this high muggle zone for almost 7 years. I recently DNFed on another cache by this owner which as a D5 rating. I now realise I am going to have to really up my game to find it if this is the standard of container for all of Lonely_Rooster's caches.

TFTC, fav point awarded

07-Jun-21
Way too many muggles at GZ to risk trying to grab this cache. Even if the two groups of people exercising nearby looked the other way, I would still have had to actually visually spot the cache and use the correct manoeuvre to remove it. Not worth the risk of being seen as I can see what the owner means that once this is found by muggles one, it is unlikely to be a viable hiding place. I’ll come back at a less busy time.

A great puzzle and a very challenging hide, especially with muggles around on a Sunday afternoon!

Heck, it's another year already. Seems geocaching is yet another casualty of COVID-19; with so little geo-action.
Anyway ... did my annual run of cache checks and happy to confirm all caches (other than Give a Fig which I didn't check on as it was too wet and slippery to attempt a tree climb - will have to check when it's sunny/dry) present and accounted for.
Wishing everyone a (back to normal), fun and safe geo-2021.

Hmmmm - I've now moved to the area and keen to knock off some LR caches. Didn't seem to find this one today, but it may well still be there considering how much kudos this one gets for how well it blends.

Not far from the yearly cache check, so I'll wait for the greenlight before returning to GZ to try and find Smile

Thanks so far LR!

Solved this but don’t expect to find it this visit. Perhaps in March.

Over the the past few years, the Bromance (comprising CrookedPete, Seffnjarah, SwellerFungus and most recently JezNDez) have enjoyed road trips, bushwalking, overnight hikes, mountain climbing, kayaking and other adventures in search of some elusive caches. The first planned adventure for the brand new decade was a multi day hike in Kosciusko National Park bagging Australia's highest dozen peaks and all nearby caches.

Enroute to our adventure, Australia's bush fire crisis unfolded, and with the Kosciusko region on fire and closed, our plans gradually morphed to a caching road trip back to Queensland, collecting unusual and rarer caches along the way.

One that I managed to solve before our trip without too much trouble. Arriving at GZ however, some exercising muggles looked like they were here for the long term despite the incredible hear and eyed us suspiciously. This one will wait for another day!

Thanks LR

Pete

1st of Jan already! So another round of annual maintenance checks on the caches.
- - -
The log has become moldy due to seepage. Observing geocaching OHS, has tossed out the log and zip-lock bag and went over the container and pencil with some Spray-n-Wipe.
Dropped in some temporary log paper but will replace with a proper log as soon as I can find the right size.

Reminder to please replace with the lid side down to prevent water build-up.

Happy geo-2020!

***** UPDATE 2020-01-03 *****
New log-book in ziploc bag now in place.
Cache well!

After frazeydaze (the home puzzle solver) took off to spray the outbreak of larum laevite she soon realised that she was headed in the wrong direction. Once she corrected her direction it wasn't long before the work was completed. Yesterday we were thwarted in finding cache as all the areas bank employees were enjoying their bank holiday on the equipment. Today the task at hand was simplier as there were only a few muggles. We did our best to sign the very soggy log and tried to dry out the little clip loc bag. Thanks Lonely_Rooster for another fun cache.

06-Aug-19
Solved this puzzle with the help of a fellow geocacher advising me that I was travelling in the wrong direction. That taken into account it didn’t take long to solve the puzzle. Next was to get our hands on the cache. We tried yesterday afternoon, but it was impossible to get close enough to search. Today, early afternoon, oldmorty and I returned to GZ. This was going to be a lot easier. And it was. A bit of a lie down and a bit of a stretch, I soon had CIH. The log is very, very wet but oldmorty managed to sign with his super pen. Thanks Lonely_Rooster for this puzzle. FP from me

Out with my eldest boy (12) today to grab some "urban" hides. He likes those, and ice cream. I also promise ice cream when we go geocaching. Although, to be fair to him, he enjoyed the day so much today that he forgot about the ice cream. I didn't though.

This is quite the unique puzzle. Did it quite a while ago, maybe 12-18 months back. But we are rarely in the area, being from the central coast. At GZ I could not believe what we had to deal with, and on a Satdee mornin too lol. So he had a go (I'm not talking about finding the cache BTW) and he managed ten while I made the stealthy grab. Then as we walked away to add our names to the log, I stepped in dog poo. Yay. Geokid found that hilarious. Yeah yeah. Re-hiding was equally as "hilarious" as he did the honours this time, while I only managed five. Don't think urban geocaching is going to help too much with increasing that effort. Nonetheless, TFTC and the very unique puzzle, Lonely_Rooster.

Today I came to do the find.... and what a great hide!!

As a Christmas gift I received a voucher from my geo-buddy for two hours of push bike fun on a tandem bike.
This afternoon it was time to hand-in the voucher and spend an enjoyable afternoon in Centennial Park. In addition to the caches, we visited the duck pond, the beautiful paperbarks, had a picnic under the trees and watched hundreds of bats flying out at the end of the afternoon.

Of course I did some preparations and solved some of the puzzle caches around the park. This was an easy one once you know how to fly a crop duster.
My geo-buddy was complaining that I was breaching the T&C by paddling out of the park with out rental tandem, but being in front I had control of the steering so I was determined to go for the cache.

Close to GZ, we showed a few gymnastic tricks to two little boys who were also playing at the equipment. It was also a great decoy as they had attention for geo-buddy while I quickly took the cache container out of its hiding place.

I somehow seem to have unofficially made my goal for 2019 to finish solving and finding all the remaining LR caches (plus the interesting virtual). After finding FEG:Reflection the other day, I made this my next one. With a bit of prompting I was able to work out the flight path and successfully locate where the flight log had landed on my first go. Once I had taken off I realised I come across similar situations before.

After sitting in the aircon at home all morning, I decided the geodog needed a play in some wide open spaces. And near GZ was just the place. Once there I knew exactly where to look, and luckily only mad geocachers like me come out here in the midday sun. Though I can imagine this spot would get quite busy at certain times of the day.

With the coast clear, I started examining the options but nothing took my fancy. Then a couple of muggles stopped nearby for a short time so we went for a wander. They soon disappeared and we returned to GZ. I then realised I needed a new approach and suddenly it was CIH with no one about to wonder what I was up to. A very useful variation on a common container. Great camo, which should last the distance. Added my stamp to the flight log, which seemed dry after the hot weather we've had lately.

Another great LR puzzle ticked off, and of course I'm giving this one a FP too. For the clever puzzle and the extremely sneaky hidden location. I dusted myself off and unleashed Zelda so she can run around with other dogs now it's cooled down. Now, if I can give a fig I might knock another one over soon, which I suspect is very close by! I reverse engineered the non-ambiturner pilot's convoluted flight plan a few weeks ago. Today I headed to the location where the flight-log fell out of the helicopter. Fortunately the area was clear of people when I got there. Must have been too hot in the middle of the day. A bit of searching and head scratching later and something caught my eye. If that's the cache, I'll be mightily impressed. A quick check and the cache was in hand. Wow, very nicely created camo! I suspect muggles wouldn't even be able to find it if they saw someone retrieve it. Thanks for another fun cache!

Took a slight detour on my way to work today, going via the Eastern Suburbs, to revisit three previously DNFed caches - one each of Traditional, Multi, and Puzzle/Mystery. This was the 3rd of 3 finds for the morning.

We had solved the puzzle for this one last month (early December), having avoided it previously thinking it was too difficult for us, but it turned out to be much easier than expected. And with a green light from the checker it was added to our caching mission for Sunday 9th December. On that day we had caught public transport out to GZ, only to arrive to find a fenced off GZ. And with no possible way of gaining entry we had no option other than to log a disappointing DNF. But with the CO now confirming that the temporary fencing has been removed the cache was added to today's DNF revisiting list.

Arrived at a rather busy GZ with several adults & kids utilising the facilities. Took a seat on a nearby wall and waited them out, with most of the kids departing first, followed soon after by the adults. Swooped in for a quick find exactly where we thought it would be, when we were all peering through the fence at the “feature of interest”. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. It's a very nice custom container that hides very well indeed. The logbook was a little damp but still signable.

Thanks Lonely_Rooster for the interesting puzzle and excellent final GZ cache container, which all up earns a Favourite point from us.

Did the annual check of my caches. Thanks to vk2df who reported the area was barricaded off. The barricades have come down, revealing brand new floor material. And the good news is, the workmen seems to have left the cache alone. So all good to go.
May 2019 be your caching-est yet!

09-Dec-18
Today we headed over to Randwick and Centennial Park, taking advantage of the cheap Sunday $2.70 per head capped Opal Card fares, to visit St Judes Cemetery for oldmorty's new Mystery/Multi cache, and then to have a look at a couple of solved Mystery caches at Centennial Park. As it turned out it wasn't to be one of our greatest caching missions, with only 4 cache targets on our list we only managed to find a total of 2 caches, with the other 2 having to be logged as DNF's.

After finding "St Judes", in St Judes Cemetery at Randwick, we walked down to this one. We had solved the puzzle last weekend, having avoided it previously thinking it was too difficult for us, but it turned out to be much easier than expected. And with a green light from the checker it was added to today's caching mission.

Arrived at GZ to be greeted by a temporary fence blocking access. Checked for a way in but there was none, a veritable Fort Knox. Gee these types of fences used to be so easy to break into. We peered through the fence at a feature that matched the hint, and pondered if that was actually the hide, but sadly that is as close as we could get to the potential prize. So after all of the puzzle solving, and the extensive public transport trek to GZ, we had to reluctantly leave with nothing but a DNF. Thanks for the interesting puzzle anyway Lonely_Rooster.

16-Nov-18
Sitting at thehotel checking the map and realized there are no traditional caches around anymore. So what else to do with spare time than focus on the "?" nearby. This took few minutes to solve and shortly I had the coords in my c:geo.
First visit was no luck as well as second. Too busy around.

Lucky tonight I was having a lenghty "discussion" in one microbrewery with my friend and we finished veeeery late. Took a bus back, but the connection bus was gone. Only option was to walk back (about 5km). But arpund 3AM there were no muggles and I could find and sign the log with no issue. And the Moon was great headtorch Wink

Had an afternoon enjoying huge Centennial Park and found this one hiding nearby.
Very cunning placement and well constructed
thanks Lonely Rooster

Wow, I scratched my hard twice before at GZ but no luck. I was right all along just didn’t look far enough. This time with no muggles I thought it has to be and finally it was. Very clever, thanks

just dawned on me why the world needs to be flat Wink

Green light from Geochecker and off to GZ next time I'm nearby Very Happy

30-Aug-18
This cache was another of the past few that were surrounded by muggles on several trips. Today I managed to find it. It took me two goes to spot thought.

02-Jul-18
The puzzle took a bit to solve. Today we had to fly under the radar and take our time with some muggles passing by at time. Nicely blended hide. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC

03-May-18
Managed to go into google land to figure out the method the pilot used and the 2 locations were possible but once the other was crossed out, then a very likely location was made.
GZ, oh man, constructing the clever hide, fav for such impressive crop dusting, thanks Lonely_Rooster

22-Feb-18
tftc great cache

01-Jan-18
Did the annual rounds of caches to check they are all present-and-accounted for.
Container cleaned. Pencil sharpened.
Have the caching-est 2018.

A message to Lonely Rooster assured the Atalanta household that we had the correct coordinates and that GeoChecker was falsely telling us we were wrong.
That was a relief as all three of us had reached the same point and none of us could see a second solution to the problem.
Anyway, arriving at GZ about 9:30 this morning, there were few people about and I was able to find what turned out to be a VERY cunningly disguised cache. Thanks to the Rooster for the challenge. Well worth a favourite.

30-Jul-17
Worked out where my log book landed only one muggle soon had in hand

30-Jul-17
Finally worked out were I dropped my log book. Only one muggle at GZ which gave me a chance to search. What great camp. Get a favourite from me.

30-Jul-17
Have located the log book. Nice bit of crop dusting

05-Feb-17
I was at a picnic not too far away and was glad to find I had at least one solved puzzle to find, from I don't know when. Swooped into the almost deserted landing zone today to find an imaginatively crafted container. Nice work. Thanks Lonely Rooster.

Started the day caching around La Perouse. Back through this way after lunch. Parking was surprisingly easy on this drizzly day. Interestingly, I didn't find the object at GZ as I had expected. Unfortunately, the die hard exercise freaks are still out and about. Tried to wait them out but decided to avenge my DNF at a nearby puzzle cache.

Back here after a successful raid and had the place to myself. There didn't seem to be too many places to hide a cache and after a bit of thought, guessed right and had clever container in my hand. SL and replaced without anyone being the wiser.

Did the rounds of my caches to check they are presentable (and still present!) for a new geocaching year.
Cleared the cobwebs (literally) off this one, so all in good order.
Have a fun and successful geo-2017 everyone!

When I first looked at this cache description I didn't think that there was enough information to determine the final co-ordinates. It had me stumped. Then I looked at the pattern and the penny dropped. I had remembered seeing the same type of puzzle in my youth, and giving to friends at school to try and solve. Even still it was a little confusing. I solved the first part and then looked at the numbers more carefully and did some measuring to determine the final co-ords (or so I thought). But it didn't compute. So then I read the info more carefully (yes it's all important) and had to go back and work on the puzzle from a different angle. Then I got the green light in the correct location. Yippee. Having read previous logs I was expecting lots of muggles, but fortunately my timing was perfect. Just one muggle a little way off and a dog. The co-ords were spot on, but I was still a unsure where the cache could possibly be. So with a bend and a stretch, I had a feel and put my hand straight on it. It was a bigger than I was expecting but perfectly crafted for its hiding place. Took it away nearby to sign the log, and with the crop fully dusted, it was carefully returned. TFTC Wink

Well I was planning on finding "Give a fig" today but that fell through. Not literally. But this cache had been on the list since... Well I didn't log the numerous drive by's that were muggled out. Today though... Everyone was distracted and GZ was free!

What an AMAZING cache construction. Who would thought you could hide a cache here?! Finally another Lonely_Rooster cache ticked off! Thanks Lonely_Rooster for the effort you put into your caches!

Follow LR's suggestion, I planned to find several his puzzle cache as my 100th challenge. So this is my 99th one. As what I did for working out the reflection one, again I used AutoCad (a bit silly I know) to find the co. And once I was at the spot-too too too many people around! Waited for a while did some bending and then grabbed the cache. And then a group of children came to me- one of the girl climbed on my shoulder and her pet was super friendly too, oh that's so cute but ...the cache was still in my hand! Eventually another family came with their pet and they started to play together then I got a chance to put it back! The cache is so nice I really like it! Thanks for the cache LR now it's the time for my 100th one ( I actually have solved give a fig and been to the spot but the problem was how to climb...) ! TFTC!

25-Dec-15
Amazing camo! So glad I got to this cache while visiting Sydney.

There was muggles around on the first trip so I went back at 9.30 and still was a muggle.

The waiting for him to go was well worth it!

Thank you! and as it's the 25th, Merry Christmas!!

19-Sep-15
Geodad showed me how to solve this. We found two solutions. After being muggled out previously we were keen to find this today.

I pretended to play near GZ and made a quick find without being noticed by muggles.

TFTC Lonely Rooster.

08-Sep-15
Worked the puzzle out no problems but couldn't get near to the cache due to muggles that were not going to be moving on for a while. We'll be back...

28-Aug-15
It was a good puzzle and I hadn't seen it before. I managed to find the wrong solution before getting the right one. At GZ there were quite a few muggles but none exactly where I wanted to look. I tried act nonchalant but I didn't look the part. I missed it first time due to the excellent construction. Looking forward to more Lonely_Rooster hides!

(509) I thought I'd come at the right time of day to avoid muggles. But there were still a few about. I waited until the coast was clear and made a search of the most likely area. It was in the second place I looked, but I almost missed it. Clever hide!

Solving the puzzle took a bit of brain work. It took me a few goes to spot it. despite the fact that I had heard of the problem on which this puzzle was based, so I looked it up and then the puzzle made sense. Just a bit more work to do and I had some coordinates that made sense with all the comments about muggles at GZ.

Tks again Lonely Rooster. Picked up two of your puzzles today. Loving your work! I'll have to have a closer look at some more of yours.

11-Apr-15
An easy old puzzle, but a few ways to solve it, but the most likely answer turned out to be the right one!

11-Apr-15
Found two solutions, checked one out, had a nice walk in the park, checked the other one out, got more exercise in the other park, but also found the clever cache!

For me this cache is everything that Geocaching represents !

A cool little puzzle based in beautiful location, a phrase that covers caching everyday and a fantastically hidden cache.

I solved the puzzle a while ago and today headed over to GZ, I had to sit down to wait out a muggle but I think that the hot temperatures meant that he wasn't going to stay long.

Like others I was dressed to blend in and loved the sneaky hide

After struggling with the puzzle for a while with one solution I finally figured out the second way to do it. I was assuming I had additional constrictions that I did not.

Made the find although there were others there by acting like I belonged. Good thing I was dressed for the part. TFTC!

25-Jan-15
Geodad showed me how to solve this. We found two solutions. Geodad was in such a hurry to solve the puzzle that he missed an important bit of information about the cache. I just noticed it now while logging this DNF.
There was a muggle at GZ and many muggles around so it was hard to look for it.
We tried twice but still couldn't find it.
We will come back on another day.

24-Jan-15
Figured the puzzle out months ago - I drive past GZ 6 times a week and do you think I could ever get to the cache with no muggles around?????

Well today was finally the day - driving home from work in the hottest part of the day and it was finally muggle free. Excellent container and cache placement.

Solved this puzzle months and months ago but raindoctor and I were muggled out at GZ on both occasions. My subsequent visits had been equally unsuccessful but today I returned at midday (sans raindoctor, sorry dude!) to make the find. Such beautiful craftsmanship on the cache, reminds me of "Shaw is a Paine" - the cache which got me interested in geocaching. *reminisces into the distance*
Thanks Lonely_Rooster! Smile

A clever puzzle and a clever container. Made the trek to the final wondering if the area would be busy before the heat of the day. Not to worry, no one about shortly after 6am. TFTC

29-Dec-14
Nice puzzle. Calculated the coorsinates quickly, but I had to figuere out, that it is really a bad idea to pick up the cache at daytime. To many muggles around. Waited about half an hour to have a short muggle free spot, but gave up. At least I thoight about the place where the cache must be.
Came back at night and found it very fast. Tftc

Going to the Big Bash game tonight at the SCG, so thought a few caches on the way would be the ticket. In particular I was targeting two caches in a series, one I'd already DNFed, and one puzzle near the SCG itself.
Too far east to drop The Hornet unfortunately.

Arrived at GZ before the game to find it was muggle city. Ended up playing with a dog who presented me with a ball he wanted thrown. Had a nice chat to the owner as well.
Hmmm, need to come back after the game GZ should be empty by then.

Fast forward... it's after 11pm, and the area is dark. And there were STILL two muggles using the facilities near GZ. I could see both were tidying up - hopefully for an imminent departure, and that proved the case 5 minutes later.
So, at GZ I started my search in what I thought was the obvious spot.
Nothing.

Took 10 minutes of looking before the craftily constructed container was identified. All I have to do is move out the spider in residence.
So stick in hand I was finally able to make the grab.

Completed signing duties by the light of the car and replaced.
Nice simple puzzle with a great cache installation.

Now, it's 11:45pm and tomorrow could be problematical. If I grab another cache after midnight...

A great puzzle that has at least two different rotational solutions!?!

Today, on a lovely Sunday afternoon, I found GZ quiet enough to make a stealthy find and replacement!

TFTC.

Great hide! And a very enjoyable cache. I'm now sitting here with cache in hand waiting for a chance to return it. Hope I don't have to take it home and come back later...

Returned it.

The puzzle's reasonably straightforward but GZ is not!! When I visited at 7pm this evening there were literally 300 muggles within 200m of me, all with a direct line of sight should they choose to look. There were even half a dozen people right at GZ doing what you do there. After a quick stroll with my phone to identify the likely hide sites, I didn't bother looking further. Not sure when I'll return, as darkness falls so much later this season. Winter would have made this so much easier...

Ground Crew reporting in. Flight log successfully retrieved. Pilot was able to dust all offending locations and no seagulls were harmed in the process. Fun puzzle. Excellent container planning and construction. Relatively muggle-free at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon. All we need now is a Sydney FC win over WSW tonight. SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek

14/10/14. 12:08 PM. Cache #1936. Streak Day #114. I worked out the chopper pilot's route fairly early on, as it resembled a well known puzzle that spawned an even more well known phrase about lateral thinking. However, I missed an important detail about when during this route the pilot dropped his flight log, and so evince wasn't giving me the go ahead. This changed a few days ago during a conversation with a fellow puzzler. The penny dropped and I had my green light.

The threat of a grey morning and possibly some rain meant today seemed a good day to try, as the muggles may have been kept away. This was originally going to be my one and only find for the day, but ended up being the third because a couple of new caches were published nearby, so I diverted to Maroubra. [After being beaten at "Rock and Roll" by misspalot, raindoctor and SkyeHo, we managed to share FTF on "Whispering Trees, Roaring Ocean"].

Back here for an attempt. A muggle with her 2 kids and dog arrived just as I did so I had to blend in by doing what people normally do here. Even as the first few drops came down it took forever for them to leave, but by the time they had I was placed right near GZ. I then made the grab and signed. Clever cache - blends in very well with its surroundings! Back to the car and by the time I was on Alison Rd it was raining quite a bit, so that was good timing! TFTC }:)

Well back tonight after being muggled away.. I must admit doing this at 21:20 is so much easier than at 12:30. TFTC Smile

Solved the puzzle this morning and in haste for the ftf I didn't check the result.. Bugger more than one solution. Just as I'm reworking the answer I get the ftf notification.. Well done Rheneas. I've been now sitting at gz for over a hour and the muggles won't leave.. Oh well there's always tonight..

I saw this cache publish notification last evening but didn't pay much attention since I was already home and miles away. This morning I revisited and noticed that it still hadn't been found so with the hope of FTF still up for grabs, I gave it another look.

I'm normally fairly bad at solving regular geocache puzzles, however I enjoy these types of mental & mathematical challenges so set to work finding a solution. It didn't take long to determine the helicopter's flight path based on the information given, but took a little while longer to determine GZ after making some invalid assumptions about the distances between the waypoints. After correcting my initial errors the geochecker gave me the thumbs up, and I set off towards GZ.

When the CO warns about extreme muggle activity he's not kidding! After checking the GZ coordinates on Google Maps I had a fair idea of what I was in for, however on approach to GZ I was dismayed to see it swarming with little muggles! School holidays make searching for this cache even more difficult. I wandered a certain "safe" distance away to avoid looking suspicious and waited. After 15 minutes a larger adult muggle decided to set-up camp right beside GZ. (!!!) I patiently watched and waited another 15 minutes before seizing an opportunity to move in for the find, all the while trying to "blend" in with the surroundings, must have been quite a sight!

A short amount of feeling revealed the cleverly hidden container and after following instructions in the cache description, I soon had CIH. {*FTF*} @ 11:30am, I carefully opened the container, took pin (thanks Lonely Rooster! will place in an upcoming cache I'm planning), extracted, signed and replaced log while still trying to "blend" in, then re-hid exactly as found. Very sneaky location deserving of the difficulty rating at that time of day.

My GPSr placed GZ about 7m away from the calculated coordinates accepted by the geocacher, however future finders should not have too much difficulty deciding where to look after arriving at GZ. TFTC Lonely_Rooster definitely a favourite from me! Smile
