A lovely day for a drive to North Canterbury with Karma Reprint and Lorok, picking up a few tinkers we'd missed from previous trips up here. Cheers
Had a great day full of geocaching with Kiwi Moose and karma reprint. On this sunny day we went around Rangiora for visiting an event and plenty of caches.
Thanks to the CO's for the hides and thanks to Kiwi Moose and karma reprint for taking me on this trip full of fun.

#12309. We left this one for the way back, which turned out to be a good call as parking was good heading back. This was the last TT find of the day; we'll have to slot the remainder into another trip. TFTC.
Another gorgeous autumn day just asking for a caching expedition so we headed north of the Ashley to turn some green icons into smiles, travelling as far north as White Rock. It's been a while since we were last in the area and I'm pretty sure I've not been to White Rock before so had an enjoyable time exploring these North Canterbury roads. Thanks to the COs for their cache placements.
We left this cache for the return journey as the parking was better on this side of the road, and it meant we didn't have to cross the road. Took a bit of effort to open the container. I remember the Rawleighs man calling by when I was a child in Mataura, my mother especially liked their cinnamon. TFTC.

After several days in Chch and surrounds we headed home today but of course made time to find some caches on the way. As well as caching around Ashley and Loburn we returned to the Greta Valley to finish what we didn't have time for on our way south.By the time we reached home last night our count for the day was 53, tired but satisfied with our efforts for the week. The logs were signed HZ+HM, H+H, or on some case with our full names.
Thank you to all CO's whose caches we found this week.
Thank you to all CO's whose caches we found this week.
After caching managed to hold us up for two days we're heading for home. Not without picking up caches on the way and not so on the way though. And a detour via Greta Valley to take care of some unfinished business from a few days ago on the way down. The landscape is a lot more pleasant here than both the dry and irrigated land further South. A good variety of caches were found. Nice after doing some series on days previous. Our final tally for this multi day raid was 380+. The Travelling Tinker series was fun, a bit different with the appropriate containers to the series name and it brought back memories to boot. Thank you TheWanglers
It was rainyish at home but I still wanted to go find some caches. So I drove out to Cust. No sign of rain there. Onwards to country roads. Still no rain. Yay
Back to sealed roads. Time for some tinkering. Hopefully I will finish finding this series today.

A quick find as we travelled down memory lane, although the container was very difficult to open. A favourite from us. TFTC
In town for a “Mega” weekend of caching. I joined up with Yeetrees and gonefishing to form Team YGB. I really enjoyed exploring the country roads of Canterbury. We travelled a fair few Kilometres in the 4 days we were here, and had a great time, with a lot of laughs along the way. Good weather, and good company. It doesn’t get much better than that does it.
Monday. Day Four, Area 4. Today we ventured north up towards Amberley. A change of scene from the long straight roads on the plains that we had experienced in the previous days. We then headed back to Pegasus and Rangiora to round out the day with a bit of urban caching.
Thanks to all the CO’s for all the caches we found.
Cheers and TFTC

Found during the Mega weekend on bit of a tiki-tour around the Canterbury back blocks. Great weather, great caches, great fun! Thanks to all the cache owners for putting out and maintaining caches for us to find. All in all, a fun road trip with Boxhill and Yeetrees, we signed many of the logsheets as YGB to save both time and logsheet spaces.

Still use their Ready Relief. Apologies for being so late logging this. Found during the Mega weekend. TFTC
Gourdie and I found on ground. Was a bit wet inside so dried it. Log was dry inside the plastic bag.
On the way back from the top of Okuku Pass, picking up everything as I go, and exploring an area I haven't had much to do with until now. TFTC (2232)
Planned a whirl wind trip to Canterbury this weekend to get some numbers and collect some puzzles - what a fantastic weekend for it, the weather was brisk but clear and sunny.
I think this is the first time we have come across this Travelling Tinker series - loved the containers, must have taken you a while to collect, throughly enjoyed all these finds and a +1 fav point for the series, although we have some more to collect one day I think.

One of the remaining 29 calander days when I have only found 2 caches on the day. So time to find at least 2 caches. Get those May numbers up!! (When may started, I had 17 such days only in May!!)
I had a day off work today. To catch up with life, and hopefully some sleep too (Second thing didn't end up happenning... )
Decided to come out this way, and to justify getting the last cache (This is still over 30KM from home ATCF!! ) I decided I could let myself find more caches. So 4 I set on.
Number 3. I came here, and was quite surprised!! No cache!! But then I spied it on the ground. Aha! However obviously it's been out on the ground during the rain lately. Lid was rusted shut. Spent forever trying to open it!! But finally lot's of wiggling was successful.

A few caches before we leave New Zealand after four weeks of traveling. This was number 13. Still here, although we had a hard time opening it. What a nice container, favorite because we like the series so much.

Down this way for a spot of work and Rep training through the Southern Regions and Christchurch so this is an opportunity to grab a few caches that i otherwise would not get to. And as i'm working on a MGSc Challenge numbers are quite important.
After rushing off of the plane and getting a car it was straight off caching up a storm. This the one of many hopefully tonight as i want to have completed the requirements for the challenge before heading to the OZ Mega
THanks for the placement

I apologize for the EXTREMELY late log. 5th and last day of our End of Year caching trip. Last night we stayed at furpurse's house in ChCh and today we are heading home via the Travelling Tinkers powertrail. Most were quick easy P&G's as they were seen from the cache as we pulled up but some were lying on the ground so we put them back where the had come from. Oops wrong sign first LOL. Thanks for the powertrail
Had a yummy Christmas lunch then thought we would go off and find some caches. 36 caches later and 3.5 hours gone we are back home
Lovely day for a drive
Merry Christmas!

Oh yes, I well remember the Rawleighs man, one of many travelling salesmen that regularly visited way back when. All sorts of salves and magic potions. It doesn't upset me too much that that sort of thing seems to have become uneconomic.
"Rawleigh - A friend of the family" was the slogan and actually I think it was pretty accurate as the products were/are good in my book and did what they said they would. My favourites were the garlic dip mix and the medicated vapour which was invaluable when the kids were toddlers. TFTC #6321
A nice series to spend the day on!
A day spent around the Oxford and Rangiora areas. Nice and sunny, with a bit of a cool wind.
Thank you very much for the hide.

Hadn't had a decent caching mission in ages so off I went on a windy Sunday. My grandfather used to have an extensive selection of these containers and I remember being fascinated by these when I was a nipper. TFTC and the series!!!!
6423. Out on a travelling tinker mission this afternoon. Aim was to do all 33 plus a few others, as well as checking a couple of our own. This was cache number 16 of 37 finds. This is our favourite salve!!! Thanks for the cache. Rodney and Iris.
TFTC. Out for a days caching adventure with purdiepurdie so we decided to sign the log TeamFP. We started the day off with a little healthy Fruit and Veggies and then finished off with a nice piece of Tinkering around.
The series was great, with nice old containers which were well placed.
Thanks TheWanglers for making this fun trail.

Labour day and a drab looking one at that, what better way to spend it than out caching with buddies. Madcat9, JustmeG and I will join forces to become MadBearMeg for the day. Great series, we really enjoyed collecting them all (so far) Sure can have a fav point for the series from me, alot of effort has gone onto placing these and some great scenery and lots of baby animals where to be seen all along the way. A really awesome way to spend a dismal looking day. Thanks so much for all the caches
Another in this series found with Bbear44 & JustMeg and signed as Mad Bear Meg. Had to tinker with this one for awhile to get it open. TFTC
Out on the trail of a "travelling Tinker" today with BBear and MadCat9 and what a great day's outing even if the weather didn't play ball with us. At least we had the comfort of a nice dry car, unlike the early travelling tinkers who had their horses and carts. Recycling is always good so it was nice to see the containers here being used. Made us wonder what the next one might be. We also enjoyed the scenery and during our drive spotted boer goats, highland cattle, deer, black sheep, white sheep, beef cattle, horses, cats, peacocks, ducks and a wide variety of birds. Fantastic day! I even got to try my first "dew" from a honeydew beech tree. Epic!
This one took a little while longer to open than most of the others, however this gave us the opportunity to watch the young lambs in the paddock opposite GZ. Who says you can't have fun in the rain?

Another quick easy find, the tins are awesome!! Remember some of these at our place.
A lovely, sunny Saturday morning to collect the Travelling Tinker series. 24 caches in one day is my all-time record. I love the containers and have a small collection of my own. I remember the Rawleigh's man coming door-to-door in Nelson when I was a child but the name had no significance for Clare at all - too young! Bugzptr, cfahey1 and I had a great morning out. Thank you.
It looked a nice day for a cyclocache ride so I decided to go for a 40km ride to seek and sign off all of the currently published series of Travelling Tinker caches in the Loburn and North Loburn area. Smoothhound also rode along to sign off those he hadn't visited. This was my number 12 of 24 .Thanks for the cache.
Beautiful day for a bike ride in the country around Loburn area. I'd ridden this way recently but some more caches appeared a few days later so accompanied BaldEd today. I had another 6 to pick up. He had all 24. Bright sunshine, a faint breeze, beautiful countryside. A great day for cyclo-caching. TFTC.
Enjoying the series, visiting CHCH and had just arrived a bit earlier than anticipated so a quick run was made to find as many of these ones as possible.

Still around this stuff and the tin is similar.Looked with disappointment for my Mother's saying when she used it. Our tins always read as "Good for man and beast." Thank you. I think that tin was still a little greasy.
Had done the fruit and Vege loop in the morning but still plenty of time left in the day so headed up to do this Traveling Tinker series. Was not sure what to expect with hides and containers. Soon discovered the types of both which made the series very quick for the most part. Loved the containers. Has someone cleaned out there fathers garage or been to an auction recently? I must admit being on the short side so some were a bit tricky with several having to park the car closer so we could replace using the car as part ladder. The weather was slowly getting worse with occasional drizzle which was lucky as at one GZ some muggles were clearing brush on the way up but gone on the way back probably due to the rain. Not too much traffic today but more than I would have expected. Managed to grab all that have been placed so far. Great series so far and I expect more to come?
We wondered when a Rawleighs tin would turn up. Everyone knew the Rawleighs man. TFTC
WooHoo a F2F.The Rawleigh's Man used to come around a couple of times a year, with his basket of Potions and Lotions..Mum always had the much needed Medicated Ointment for Chest Congestions, and Colds, plus an Antiseptic Salve I think that was Pink..Thanks for the memories TFTC
