Suscoe headed out for a day of caching in the Eildon area.
It was a cold start but as the day progressed some sunshine appeared and there was no wind.
It is such a lovely part of the world here with the mountains, the valleys and the rivers, not to mention the very happy looking cattle.
Thanks to Clever Monkey for this location, sadly we drew a blank here today, however it was a great spot to have lunch so we did.
It seems that what might have been here once might not be here now, we were expecting a frame or sign as we have seem elsewhere on our travels, neither was present today.
So we looked hard at the only other possibility but nothing was seems.
It might be worth a call past by the CO to check this one out.
Maybe it was just too good a hide for us.

A MEGA was being held this year in Alexandra, and what a fantastic event it proved to be. Fantastic location, great activities and some amazing caches all lead to an awesome weekend. This was one of the caches I found during my travels of the area over the weekend.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Travelling around the Alexander area before the CITO in the company of McLookers and Quasar3671 we picked up a few trads and a multi, while enjoying this lovely part of the country and the fine weather. No time for fishing today, maybe another time!
Thanks Clever Monkey for the placement.
Thanks Clever Monkey for the placement.
Second day of the Mega, and today's plan is to work our way along the "top" side of the lake, picking caches and fishes and a CITO Event along the way. Snickersallan and Patrol14 remain with is.
We didn't find anyone fishing today even though there was a parked vehicle nearby. A short hop along a "track and the cache was in hand.
Log signed & replaced again. Found at 11.42am on 19th November 2017. TFTC. Clever Monkey

Today I teamed up with RoddyC and Snickersallan again to finish the Trout Geoart and any caches that are along the way.
They were all found thankfully, some easy, some took some time to locate but all in good condition.
This one was cleverly hid but didn't take us long to find. SL, then returned cache to its hide.
Love the creeks and rivers in the area. Would like to go fishing one day.

In Melbourne with Cravo10 to attend the Mega in Alexandra.
We took the red eye from Perth, leaving at 1am Thursday morning, and departed Melbourne early Tuesday morning, so it was a short five day trip.
We managed to snag a couple of nice stats for the trip. First mega event, 12 cache types in a day, 10 lab caches, 50th large cache find, and most importantly my 10,000th find at Mount Disappointment.
We spent the first day on a caching run from
Melbourne to Phillip Island where we had booked into the local caravan park for the evening. We cached all day chasing down a number of the whereigo and puzzle caches from the CF series, before ending the day caching the extremities of Phillip Island, where we had both never been, an amazing part of this country.
Next morning we cached our way to Alexandra which was the main reason for our trip to Melbourne as we had both never managed to attend a mega, which were hoping to rectify in WA next year! Attended the pre event and managed to get a couple of group FTFs by torchlight which was a real highlight.
Saturday we cached in and around Alexandra all day, chasing numbers, the highlight of the day would have to be the birdbox hides around Alexandra and the multi in Bonnie Doon from that famous TV show, a real nice touch!
Sunday was an epic caching day, chasing down 12 types in a day, which required a couple of huge drives to claim some of the rarer icons around. A huge caching stat which is a very rare feat in the Southern Hemisphere. We finished the day travelling to Mount disappointment where we found Melbourne's 1st cache and then started making a dent in the powertrail, finishing by torchlight.
Our last full days caching was spent at Mount Disappointment to chase some big numbers and with a few caches around the burbs for good measure.
Special thanks to all the wonderful COs around Melbourne for their brilliant caches, and to the mega committee for organising a ripper event, hope to be back next year!

On a 6 day tour of Victoria with Barnzy12. Taking the red eye over from Perth we managed to visit some great places. The main reason for the travel was the Mega event in Alexandra and the opportunity to find 12 cache types in a day.
We originally travelled to Phillip bay, then up through the country side to Alexandra. Spent a few nights staying high in the snowfields and then moved over to Mt Disappointment. We then ended up back where we started returning the hire car at the airport to fly home.
Some quality caches were found all over the state, great to get a real range of cache sizes with some very large caches compared to what’s available in WA and the range of D/T options so close to each other was a bonus.
Thanks to all the Cache owners for you placements and creativity put into hiding and have awarded a few fav points based on this or the location it bought us too.

A fairly late decision resulted in myself and 1 party of the FurfacesLL clan headding south towards Alexandra Event. After working during the day Friday, the drive down Friday night felt never ending. We had a great 3 days stomping around Alexandra and surrounds putting our scribble in many caches.
After having lunch, it was off to get some smileys. No issues here, signed and replaced.

It was a last minute decision to attend the Alexandra Event so after work on Friday Rapidlywild and I headed down through a couple of storms and heaps of lightening which put on a great show.
We found a few caches around the place before heading back home on Monday.
After lunch on the main street it was time go in search of caches, no problems at this one. Signed, replaced and on our way.

Out with a group including The Robbins and several of the Happy clan on a large fishing expedition today. We had a marvellous day with lots of fun and laughter finding a fantastic range of caches and seeing some beautiful countryside. I really appreciated all the time and work that has gone into preparing and placing all these caches. Thanks so much
Found It!
Forget the fish, I'm more intrigued as to why there is a camel here?!

The day before the Mega starts, we had a nice day caching around Alexandra and the immediate surrounds.
This one well until we arrived back in Alexandra for lunch and realised the Oregon 650 was missing.
After a quick sandwich in the camp, we zoomed back out here and found it sitting at GZ complaining about low battery level. Oh well, so glad to find it.
I must have put it down to replace the cache, and left it there.

What a lovely spot this is. Would have loved to have known about it when I used to come up to Thornton to fish. Had a 50/50 chance in locating the cache in the first spot that I looked at and of course I bombed out

Such a great part of the state, really need to get up here more often.
The local ants really have claimed the container as theirs.

*Found the find whilst House Sitting in Mansfield*...
A beautiful day to be out this beautiful area with Happy Feet and Omegaman1971. What a beautiful part of Australia to explore. Without Geocaching I would never have found so many interesting places in my travels. We really are so fortunate.
A short search, found cache, stamped and returned...
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment Clever Monkey. Appreciate your effort.

It was Day 3 of my trip to the area and the formal part of the trip (the L.E.G. series) had been completed so I thought that I would spend the day freestyling...just wandering around grabbing random caches.

As my wife had gone away for a few days, I figured it was a good time to do some caching and bonding with Crusty K9. This is one of the caches we found. tftc.
With Surefoot 24 on geo tour. Needed muggle walking ladder to help us out. Found stile a bit of a problem. Maybe wrong design. Beautiful water course. TFTC
Problems all the way along here. Signs saying private property, most difficult stile I've ever crossed then needed the walking ladder to reach the cache and on top of it all walking ladder tore his good pants getting back over stile. Lovely spot.
Found by Mary & David at 1230. The sound of the gurgling water was like the pulse of nature. Quite a swift flow, and two fishermen were hoping for some trout, but had had no luck yet. A nice quick find here. Amazed to see a camel nearby. Our thanks to Clever Monkey.
Taking off onto a track through private land seemed a bit risky after all the rain of the last fortnight, but we went anyway! The river was very high & fast flowing - so not a good day for fishing, but a great day to find a cache. SL at 10.28am Took some photos. #3822 TFTC Clever Monkey - our Duck TB's would have loved a swim, but there are bigger caches to find!
A quick and easy find as we make our way home from Jameison. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
TFTC, what a nice spot. Thanks for taking me there. I was looking and looking and was about to give up, then an idea struck me... BAM! There it was! Well played.
I'm not into fishing, whether it's with a fly, worm or net, but I love an open paddock, green grass, a river and mountains to view. Thanks Clever Monkey

As part of our visit to Victoria we are delighted to have been able to include the Lake Eildon Geo Tour in our itinerary. We started our travels in Queensland back in December and it was fortunate that while in Myrtleford we heard about this scenic adventure. A phone call later and we had made plans with our friend Alansee to team up for two and a half days to complete this series and other wonderful caches in the localities we visited. Such fun collecting the info we needed, so much to remember at each spot and photos not to be forgotten. The scenery has been awesome and there is no way we would have ever visited these places without the geotour. The tour has been a real highlight of our travels. Thanks to Clever Monkey for placing this cache and showing us this beautiful area.
Micaparamedic had told us that he was going to finish off the Lake Eildon Geo Tour today. Unfortunately Mr Crackers is very busy getting ready for the Avalon Air Show so it was only Mrs Crackers that tagged long after being picked up at Seymour Rail Station.
It was a great day picking up caches in beautiful settings.
There was no time for fishing today as we had different places to be but there was time for a quick find of a cache before our name was added to the log.
Thanks for the cache

Found with Liz and Bruce on a quick treip to Elidon at the start of the Tour. Like these just out of the way ones.
'Tis a day of solo geocaching to knock off some of the caches on manzie's and my to do list. A nice and easy find TFTC!
We are Touring Australia but had heard about the GeoTour. So we moved our caravan to Brooks Cutting and spent 2 days completing the tour. Today after completing the tour we enjoyed revisiting some of the many sights we had passed by in the last few days. Some awesome spots that we thank you for sharing with us.

#1209 followed another car down the track towards gz, today of all days (due to a nearby event) there was every chance it was another cacher. It wasn't to be but fortunately the muggles went out of view so we were able to grab the cache. Another good safe hide - TFTC Clever Monkey.

Australia’s first Geo-Tour was launched today in Alexandra. Based around Lake Eildon, this is the perfect area to come on a geocaching holiday. The tour is complemented by numerous individual caches of all types and sizes, such as this nifty little point winning catch in such a tranquil setting.
Thanks to Clever Monkey for the hunt.

Out for the night doing some astro photography with _joshnh & Beanslayr. A great night out with the full moon up. On the way home we stopped at this cache. This is the first time I've done a cache at night time and I really enjoyed the experience. Completed with _joshnh & Beanslayr. TFTC
Nice cache location. However doing it at night means not much to see. Did with _joshnh and bluewren88 on the way home from Eildon night photoshoot. No stick was required at this hide, though plenty were on hand for bluestem to use if required. TFTC.

Day two around Eildon with BettyBoo3747. We started caching by driving up to the great view over Eildon, and finished the day with the view on the other side.
A nice little fishing spot down a road I doubt I would have driven otherwise.
We were only fishing for one thing today, and I think we got two of them!
Thanks, Robmc.

# 6818. Our second day in the area and Robmc and I continued our sight-seeing and caching drive around this scenic area. The countryside looks lovely in its Spring greenery and blossom.
Made our way down this nice little dirt road and onto private property and down to the water. We do like these neat hides and the fact that having found one we are not having trouble finding the others. We were surprised to find that we were 2TF for this one. Such a pleasant spot here. We were to do one more of these before the day was through.
