Fishing trip to Bermagui for a few days, wind was bad today so we couldn't get out. Naturally I went geocaching instead. Whilst the nearby fires are under control with the recent rain I still kept clear of the area and decided to head back to Bega/Tathra for a few unfinished caches. First one for the morning, and one I've had a couple of attempts at now. This time it didn't take me to long to spot the little bugger - A clever hide.TFTC!
Caching down the south coast for a few days. TFTC.
A very tricky hide. Didn't take too long luckily as the road is fairly busy.

Searching all over for this and no luck, fortunately a passer-by asked if we were geocaching, phew with a little bit of help from them were able to find the cache. Thanks to Tashryan94 for your clues.
Found with the help of the CO, in the end it was what I was looking for, a low down mean hide, in the best way of cause! Thanks
This cache was checked only 2 months ago, it has only had 2 dnf since. It is a notoriously hard cache to find and as such does get quite a few dnfs, there is absolutely no reason to assume there would be anything gone wrong with it since we checked it and wrote a note for it in late Oct.
Hi dghoffy,
The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention. I'm temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary. Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 28 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.
If you require more time please be sure to **post a note** (not an email) explaining the situation and how much more time you require. For ongoing issues please ensure you visit the listing and post a new note every 28 days to keep everyone up to date, if you do not then you cache may be archived without further note from a reviewer. Caches archived due to lack of maintenance are no longer unarchived and you will need to submit a replacement as a new cache.

Not sure what I'm looking for here, had a good look but no luck. Will have to think about it for next visit to the region.
No luck for me here today. Although I had a notion of what I may be looking for, based on another cache back home, nothing likely presented itself where my phone was telling me to look.
We don't like logging DNFs but we searched for quite some time.
Sorry dghoffy and elysium_au

We where in Bega for a book launch, so a few caches after breakfast was the decision. A wander around Bega and then a few on the way home. The log looked good but had been wet and was doing papermache impersonations, I pulled it carefully apart with tweesers and I think it will last a little longer. Thanks dghoffy and elysium_au
Very cunning, and the name makes sense after the event. Have a favorite point. The log is wet, and disintegrated when I tried to extract it. It needs a new log. I poked around a bit with no luck, and then went methodically searching and turned it up quite quickly. Couldn't sign the bits of log I could get out, I'll send you a photo to prove I found it. Thanks fellas.
A drive from Bega to Jindabyne today. Lots of country roads with great views and nice little towns. Also a cracker of a day with sun and blue skies.

We were convinced that this one did not exist, but after looking carefully at some of the other clues and a quick tip from DGHoffy we finally got there. TFTC

No find this arvo, three vehicles crossed while I was hunting. Grass overgrown everywhere.
Predominantly creative hides on this series kept things interesting. Got this one, took a while but we did spot it after looking around the wrong area initially. Fav point alloc. Scenery beautiful. Our thanks to dghoffy for placing this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
GZ had me out in the open and every place I went to from there did not match a T1 rating. I checked here and there, but had to let it go.
This is the last day for picking up more of this fun series, along with ilook4geo. We realise what a lot of thought and preparation has been put into the cache placements and names as well as the apt camo used on so many. Each log had both lots of initials noted on it before being replaced as found.
This one took us quite a while to pinpoint as we had the wrong idea in mind. A final look revealed the hide more by good luck than anything else.
Many thanks go to dghoffy and elysium_au for placing and maintaining such a worthwhile series of caches.

Out and about caching again today with goingplaces2 and it is good to be able to claim so many smileys while heading into Bega and surrounding areas. TFTC.
#9653 - 5:24:00 PM; On the way home from Meribula after a Convention and collecting a few more caches on the return leg. I'd DNFd this cache on an earlier visit, but had received a tip from one of my fellow cachers who had participated in the DNF effort, but who had since returned for a successful find. I'm not sure how we missed it first time around, but I'm now happy to have turned a blue frown to a yellow smiley at last! TFTC dghoffy
Bahahaha. Gold.
Spending a glorious weekend down the Sapphire Coast as part of the Canberra Invasion. Whilst the invasion meant the chance to catch up with many cachers at events and at different spots (and a delightful excuse to celebrate Lovetherabbitohs 18th birthday), I spent most of the weekend on the hunt with the CGI crew: Fitzy_1965, DarzeeDi, Minniek , K8TYBEE , GLISS!, GSC2000 Lovetherabbitohs, B0tmun, death_killer & my_name_jeff_1. Thanks so much for keeping all the caches alive and making this weekend a possibility! Tftc

Out and about with nibletricecakes and the Goulburn/Canberra crew. Scouting the coastline for treasures... my first big caching weekend! Easy find for K8tb TFTC
Headed to Wallaga Lake for a bit of an invasion by people from Canberra & Goulburn. A group of us convoyed for most of the long weekend. The group known as CGI (Canberra Goulburn Invasion) consisted of fitzy_1965, darzee di, nibletricecakes, k8tybee, GLISS!, GSC2000 and my geokids Lovetherabbitohs, b0tmun, death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.
Day 3 now all packed up and ready to head home but not before finishing the SST series and any others along the way. All caches were quickly found. We certainly loved the variety.
A cute little cache this one.

Sorry for the generic log, some with an added comment - this weekend a few of us from Canberra and Goulburn decided to travel down to Bermagui and do the SST series and some of the other traditionals, camping at Wallaga Lake Big4.
Today was day 3, final day of our adventure and what a great adventure it was, loved the company, lots of laughs and stories making it a successful fun long weekend. I just loved the different caches and ability to park safely and enjoy the experience, some a little harder to find than others but found in the end . This cache topped it off and fits the name of the cache. We signed logs as team CGI (canberra Goulburn invasion) and we all enjoyed ourselves, we all had a great day and all said how much a fantastic series it was. Tftc dghoffy and elysium_au

18,281. Found during the Canberra (and Goulburn) Invasion of the Sapphire Coast with minniek, GSC2000, DarzeeDi, Nibletricecakes, K8tybee, GLISS!, and the geokids.
After much planning and anticipation, the Canberra and Goulburn Invasion of the Sapphire Coast was underway. I had previously done the SST series back in 2016 but I had a few DNFs on missing caches from that trip to make right ! This was the third DNF to cross off - so happy about that. Quick find at GZ after having 3 years to think about it !!
My log from back then was :
"This was a tricky one - and unfortunately we were running out of time so after a few minutes looking we left it for the next time."
And it was so...
Thanks dghoffy !! So happy to now know you guys and appreciate you joining our Invasion !

The long weekend had arrived and off I go as part of the Canberra geocachers invasion for the SST series and any others along the way! A great weekend of camping, caching and socialising with a great bunch of people!
I've DNF'd this one twice before due to a jumpy GPS and I just couldn't spot it! Found it super quick now I was armed with a hint. I can see why I didn't find it last time. It blends in with the surroundings well due to it's weathering!
Thanks for the hide, dghoffy

Sorry hoffys, but this is going to be a generic log, as I have trouble keeping up with the youngsters I cache with, let alone making notes for individual caches. It will however save you reading every log!
Weeks ago it was decided to resurrect the idea of Canberra Invasions. I had not previously been involved in these adventures but enthusiastically signed up and this is our second this year. What a fabulous time we had. The main targets were the Event on Saturday night to celebrate an 18th birthday and the SST series. Both were achieved as well as some extras thrown in for good luck.
Thanks to all the COs for the effort they put in to creating the caches we found, but especially to dghoffy . What an incredible set of caches. I especially loved the names allocated to the caches - wow what great imaginations you have, and this spilled over to the creation of the caches. Well done d! It was wonderful not to have a series of mint tins or sistemas and their placement was great too. Evil at times but so much fun! I especially appreciated the fact that there was always good parking on roads that can be busy - glad it was a winter long weekend not one in summer.
All caches were eventually found, sometimes with a little bit of help - thanks to the COs and GrimRaider and were signed or stamped as Capital Crunchers. Brilliant series so thanks again and it was great to have you share the weekend with us.

This was a long awaited and planned geocaching mission to the south coast with a few other Canberra cachers. Bobl27, TikvaNZ and I drove down Saturday morning and picked up a few caches on the way to the main goal which was the SST. We picked up 19 caches Saturday getting warmed up for the main day today, Sunday. And such pretty views from so many cache spots.
This cache: a tricky find indeed. Reading a few logs helped! FP

We found many nice and partly challenging caches during our road trip.
Thanks for placing a cache for me to enjoy and find.

We hunted around in likely hiding spots for a few minutes before the glint of something in the sunlight caught the eye of one of us. Exploration revealed a ell constructed and presented cache. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks dghoffy and elysium_au for th cache and the enjoyable series.
Found the SST - A Coopers thanks traditional cache at Coopers Gully with GeodudeAU
I was in this beautiful part of Australia on a trip down south, so called in to find this cache as I was driving by - one of the Sapphire Surprise Tour series. Parked the car right beside gz and then it was just a short walk across. No hint, grrr, but it ended up that I didn't need one. I walked straight up and spotted something unusual right at gz. To my surprise it ended up being the cache! Signed the log and then replaced it all as found. A very inventive and unusual cache - have't seen one quite like this before. Found with SmudgeyCat. TFTC
Look out no pushing I'm leaving Bega first. Grabbed this on the way out. Read the cache title it helps with the find. Signed dsd
You think you can claim this day DSD but we are right behind you!! Great hide as always. TFTSST
I searched the usual hidey holes but 2.5 suggested somewhere more devious and wife had the winning grin. TFTC
Find Number 1616, found at 11:06
With the current Groundspeak promotion encouraging caching for the numbers, GeoSon NationalSteel and I decided to try for all 100 finds in a two day weekend. The only significant series that neither of us had found was the SST, so we set off down South to try our luck. With 50 caches found yesterday, we needed another 50 today to complete the mission.
Well, that was fun. T1, so it has to be accessible from a wheelchair. That limits the search, given the location. We searched high and low (not too high, obviously) and came up empty. I was just about to call it a day when I heard "Got it!" from behind me. Not saying any more, but I reckon it has to be worth a favourite point.
The cache was in good condition. We took nothing, left nothing, signed the log using the signature GT/NS and replaced the container as found
Thanks dghoffy for the cache.

G&T had planned a raid on the SST series in the hope of ticking off the required 100 finds for the Hidden Creatures souvenirs. So we came down and had a very successful weekend, with 50 finds on the Saturday and at least 60 on the Sunday, and only 2 or 3 DNFs overall. We completed the SST loop, although we skipped a few here and there when we missed a turnoff or it looked like a given cache might take too long to get to, given we were on a numbers run. But I was really impressed with this series, finding it much more interesting than a boring power trail. There's obviously been genuine thought and in many cases clever workmanship going into the hides. To have so many of such quality and variety is quite an achievement and made the numbers run much more enjoyable than it could have been, were we pursuing endless "tupperware under a bush" hides. People concerned about the lack of hints just need to pay more attention to the clever naming system, in most cases. I also appreciate the thought that went into planning a particular route around the caches - clockwise, which we followed as advised - and the selection of safe places to pull over. Anyway, today was another big day with over 60 finds, breaking G&T's daily record, getting very close to my record and passing my 4000th find milestone. We started the day by heading back from Bega to the spur of BFH caches, getting a few more in the area and then resuming our loop of the SST.
Rather than sticking around to clear out Bega we kept moving and headed to the next SST cache to continue our homeward journey. This was no quick find, though! Very challenging and I can see why it has a few DNFs logged. In fact we had pretty much given up when a change of mind had me examining something previously ignored and there it was. Nice work on the camo and the theme for this one. Simple, but very effective. Actually I'd love a cleansing ale right now but lots more driving to go today so it will have to wait. TFTC!

A series I will never forget, extremely challenging at times as every cache is different and there is no hint. Without a hint you approach GZ each time like a newbie, and if co-ords slightly out finding some caches becomes hard. Day 3. Another frustrating search with no cigar, put my fingers in many spots with no luck.
No luck for us today. Spent quite a bit of time looking. We shall return. Thankyou anyway
Day 4 had me starting in Mollymook and heading down the coast back into VIC and ending up in Bairnsdale. Enjoyed the winding forest roads a bit too much before being stopped by the authorities. 20 caches in total, and that's after a GPS malfunction. Saw a lizard and a Wallaby so not a lot of wildlife today.
17th find and I recognise this area. I came through here last time I visited this part of NSW.
I looked up and I looked down. I eventually found the cache.
Thanks for the cache

Since moving from New Zealand I have been enjoying the area, exploring and finding caches.
So far I’ve knocked off 4 of the states. VIC, SA, NSW and A.C.T
No two areas are the same here and almost every place I go is stunning. The beauty of caching is that it takes you to so many places you would never usually find.
Thank you to all the cachers out there for hiding and maintaining their caches. Especially to those who put so much effort into creating unique and fun hides.
The caches I’ve found in Australia so far have for the most part all been in great condition. Keep up the good work.

Found it with Crank1 on our way to home from OZ Geo Muster Event. Planning to stay at Bega for a night. Thanks for bringing us here and the cache.
Found on my around the SST. A great series to do. Enjoyed the different kind of hides. This one stumped me so had to resort to phoning the CO for assistance. The cache was in place but had suffered major oxidation and log book had returned to its natural state. A new container soon provided and put in place for me to log find today.
I picked one side of the road, and d@geo pick the other.
Guess who found it.

Overnight trip around the SST with Seemyshell and Brewmaker. I was really impressed with the wide range of unique styles and sizes. Another huge selling point on these were the interesting names for the caches (instead of numbered), which makes it easier to remember each location and find. Thanks to all the Cache Owners of the Sapphire Coast (namely dghoffy and elysium_au) for injecting the greater area with good quality caches. Thanks For The Cache!
This one was trickier than we expected. I was looking all over the 2 obvious features until SMS located the hide!

We have been visiting The Saphire Coast since our childhood and have always loved family holidays. Now there's just the 2 of us and we still love coming here. There's no better way to explore than on our very own geo-tour. We are interested to see if we discover any unknown (to us!) treasures on our journey today. We have already seen one whale from the shore, fantastic!
Glad to be back on the SST. We stopped to grab a few extras in Bega and didn't have much luck at all, so it's good to be working with something you know. Even if a few of these have been a bit tricky!
