Out with our caching buddies today exploring the area including stopping for a Hot Rocks lunch at the Erica pub. After lunch we drove over to Walhalla, parked at the visitor area then walked a couple of klms beside the creek along the road to this cache. Another one our caching Buddies had previously found so we were on our own. With the help of the hint it was Mrs Pooky who spotted something that didn't look quite right, but retrieving it was a little more difficult. With the help of our caching buddy we soon had the cache in hand. We then walked the 2kms back to the Geo4WD. Thanks for placing this cache for us to find on our travels.

Wallhalla has been a nice little respite weekend autumn trip. After a little trip on the train we came further up this way to explore. Thanks for hiding this cache to showcase the camping and BBQ grounds. It was nice to see some people using the BBQs to cook up a mother's day feast!
Doing a little walk just before the gold mine tour. Took a while but I spotted it eventually.
Working not too far away so we decided to visit Walhalla to see if there were any remnants of the recent filming.. and voila there was a cache there.. if course we looked for the cache before we looked for any evidence of filming. This cache had us going for a while as we looked at a couple of things that might possibly contain the cache, but no. After reading some logs I realised I must change my perspective being short isnt an advantage.. then I spied the prize. Nicely hidden, thanks Grey Ghost 69 for the cache. Then back into the village, admired the paint job on the Star then off to the cafe and a lovely little cafe indeed.
Came up overnight and thought I'd check on it, new Log will be needed soon but all still ok.
A nice wee cache to finish my AAWT walk with; I am camping here tonight after walking in from OSheas Mill today - around 700km from Tharwa, to the south of Canberra, to here. Its good to be finished. Walhalla is very busy, with the filming of an action movie starring Liam Neeson.
Found by iamapom at 17:00 on 7/1/2024. Thanks to Grey Ghost 69 for the Traditional. This is Iamapoms find number 2780. Greetings from Melbourne Australia.
After coming out of the hills, we took the opportunity to stop off here with the rest of the world and air back up again, and have a bit of lunch while we were here. After lunch there was a lull in tourists so dad snuck off and found the cache all ninja style and signed our lives away in the log.We remember camping here for a fellow cachers big birthday event many years ago, nice spot here.
Had "found" the cache about ten minutes before actually finding it. A great cache and enjoyed finding it. TFTC
Found this one whilst exploring town. Decided to walk out to the campground to stretch my legs. Tftc
A beautiful area to visit with the cache found before heading to lunch at the pub. Thanks 4x4 Earth Crew, Grey Ghost 69, davidman
A day trip to Wallhalla with gwd.aussie, Sharon14 and aqua. A beautiful area to visit with the cache found before heading to lunch.

Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.
**Thanks to Grey Ghost 69 for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

Out on a trip around and about, a nice area to have a picnic or BBQ, or just to sit here and do nothing.
The cache took a little bit more to find that it should have. There were a few muggles around and looked like they were in no hurry to go anywhere. We did finally spot it and gather it up without anyone even wondering what we were doing...
We found it, signed it, replaced it, then on our way to the next one.
Thanks for this cache 4x4 Earth Crew, Grey Ghost 69, davidman, an great little hide.

It took me a little while to find this one. Being vertically challenged didn’t help either. I found the hint very helpful. And as for the resident redback,,,,she has moved on.
These type of caches make me nervous - just never know what is and what isn’t a cache
Read through the other activity posts and worked it out

Random day trip with the family led to some random caching. Camp site is still closed off to cars and very muddy. Took a while but our eldest boy found the cache!
We spent today up at Mt St Gwinear enjoying the snow but when we were unsuccessful in finding the geocache there, we decided to come find this one instead. It was M that finally spotted the sneaky hide and we soon had the log signed and returned.
Thanks for find #3687

Nice and quiet in Walhalla on this gorgeous Easter Sunday.2nd attempt at finding this with geo kid. Feeling a bit silly as we'd both looked at this during our 1st attempt, but had decided it wasn't it. Very clever hide, TFTC
Nice easy find. You can see how high the water got in this park recently. It's a muddy quagmire
Seriously took a few unorthodox goes! No need to elaborate but it’s a solo effort and…..well I’m not so tall. Circuitous route to Melbs via Dargo and an Event near Mt Erica. So nice to be back in Gippsland and revisiting for first time in a few decades! TFTC and the fun.
Hit the deadly treadly riding between Erica and Walhalla, partly on the rail trail and partly on the road.
Completed a few caches in Walhalla and played tourist for a while.
Walked a few of the Abandoned-Railway series in the afternoon.
This park is closed to vehicles and campers atm. I suspect it is because of the flooding as there is a couple of inches of mud in the BBQ shelter.
It is still open to walkers though, so the cache is still accessible.
Nice hide.
Thanks, Robmc.

Another day out with Ski pair on a nice sunny day, this time We decided to head to Walhalla to have a go at the lab cache there and do some of the new caches in the area, it had been many years since I was last there. We enjoyed the many scenic sites and history of the area.
This is one of the caches we found on our travels of the area.
All logs signed as Rebel Acts & SKI Pair or RASP.
Thanks Grey Ghost 69 for the cache.

We walked a couple of laps of the recently semi-submerged structure that is now quite muddy before spotting something that looked like it belonged but then really didn't. Bit too muddy to have lunch here so headed back into a park in town. Not much open!
With some better weather finally coming round and diaries aligning a plan was hatched with Rebel Acts to meet in Moe and head to Walhalla for a caching run. There were a nu,ber of newer caches there that neither of us had done and it was a good chance to re-visit an area neither of us had been to for some time.
We came across a variety of caches and did quite a bit of walking. Most of it uphill and down dale!
An opportunity even came up to lock up the 4WDfor the first time in earnest rather than in the driveway just at home.
It was a great day out with plenty of fun and ribbing, mixed in with some spectacuar scenery and beautiful sunshine.
Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache 4x4 Earth Crew, Grey Ghost 69, davidman.

After doing a couple of laps here something caught my eye, and soon I was signing the log. Thank you!
Introducing my partner to the joys of caching! He found it so even better. His height helped!!
There has been significant flooding and erosion damage in Walhalla, and the campground and shelter is partially fenced off. Still, it was a very quiet day and we were able to walk around the shelter to attempt to locate the cache. I must admit it took us much longer than it should have to locate the clever hide! Thanks for bringing us here and TFTC!
The surrounding area here has been impacted by recent floods. The cache was still accessible but the area is very slippery and muddy under foot. We signed the generous sized interesting log. Thanks for the well hidden cache.
Decided to get out of the house and go for a drive on a beautiful day.
Well the town of Walhalla was pumping today, plenty of visitors wandering the street and plenty of people camping here at BBQ area.
We had some lunch then looked for the cache, luckily there was no one using the BBQ as I needed something to stand on to reach the cache (not the tallest cacher around that's for sure)
Lunch done so off to the next cache

Found with Gronk on Easter Saturday.
This place may have been so pretty but it was currently my idea of hell. Signed the log and for GTFO.

Dropped my son off to walk the AAWT to Mt Victor and then decided to spend the rest of the day exploring the area. Being unprepared for geocaching made it a bit difficult with no cell phone reception in the area! Did have a map of where the caches were but no other info so it was a bit hit and miss in Walhalla. Tried guessing what might be required for the Earthcache but fell well short in that! No hope with the multi either of course All was not lost as I did manage a couple of traditional caches....phew.... skill or luck, who knows? Made my mark in the log with a pencil but it seemed very faint so may not be readable.
Walhalla is a beautiful place and it must be so peaceful not having cell phone reception ........unless of course you want to geocache! Next time I will be better prepared. TFTC

I use to come frequently with nan to camp, we've used this BBQ area a few times before. Thanks for the lovely reminder of my old camping spot and for the cache
We are out and about in West Gippsland, and bot of us have fond memories of Walalla from our youth. Mr enjoyed a rafting trip down the Thompson River, and Mrs enjoyed school trips here. We walked from its lovely park to the mining museum and back before having a cuppa and a rest. We looked at the building being closed off, and ten looked around it before finding the anachronistic hide. Wonderful place to stop and fantastic historic old village. Thank you 4x4 Earth Crew, Grey Ghost 69 and davidman for this cache
Day Trip - Home/Moe/Walhalla (via Moondarra)/Jamieson (via Binns, Queen Bee Saddle, Mt Skene)/Mansfield/Yea/Home.
Well, we *were* planning to have lunch at "The Wally" but it was closed when we arrived and I mistakenly thought it was going to be closed all day. Wrong! Unbeknown to us it opened a mere few minutes after we passed by so we ended up grabbing a couple of tasty burgers from the nearby shop which we ate in the park opposite. After lunch we headed here to grab the cache - which we did with the help of the hint - and then continued on with our day trip.

Love this area and this is a good camping spot, lots of webs around the cache though but we managed to retrieve it without too much problem.

Nearly gave this one a miss seeing the location was closed off. Spider webs coated the cache! Luckily I had a tall and very observant person with me to spot it.
Thanks 4x4 Earth crew. camped lastnight for a couple of rainy days. Puzzled over the hide for some time but finally the penny dropped. Great Hide .regards Vic.
Our fourth find of 2021 - Happy New Year!
We are staying a couple of nights at the Star Hotel and walked here for a picnic lunch. Fortunately, the table at GZ was available so we were able to conduct a search without being obvious to the hordes of holiday campers.

TFTC. Sitting right by it having lunch when we thought this would be a great spot for a cache. And bingo!
After a family day in Walhalla, I dropped by here where my brother was camping and we had a look for this one. Circled the building a couple of times before spotting it and retrieving it.
Quite a busy campground it seemed to me. Thanks for the cache

Awesome sneaky little spot and a nice campground to boot thank you for bringing us to this area
Day1976 had signed this log before, but had not actually found the cache. He was handed the log at his birthday event he held here a few years ago, and since I hadn't found it we stopped to get it. A bit of a search and it showed up, but was very difficult to get back and stay there! Day1976 helped and got it back properly.

Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.
Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.
Sorry for the late and generic log, something I am notorious for. Thank you 4x4 Earth Crewfor adding to the adventure that is geocaching.
