We spend some time disscusing the 'nessie' hump out in the water - not prepared for today but I think we could definetly made a go at wading out there if we had a change of clothes on a summer day! This cache did take us a few minutes to find but the kids thought it was a fun hide.TFTC

15-Jun-24

25-Apr-24
In Auckland visiting family we were staying at the Ibis airport decided to go for a drive and walk nearby and grab a few caches before heading out for dinner. Thanks for the hides appreciate the effort put in from the COs

14-Apr-24
In Auckland again this weekend with rattll, aiming to reach a significant milestone number of caches to coincide with a significant anniversary for her. After a hold-up to proceedings earlier today (a flat tyre on a campervan is a mission to repair on a Sunday), we finally got underway around Mangere Lagoon and Puketutu. At GZ, tracked down the cache after a short hunt. All in good order. Signed, and returned as found. Tftc!

14-Apr-24
After waking up this morning to find the campervan had a flat tyre, we spent the rest of the morning organizing AA visits, tow trucks and someone to repair it - such drama for one flat tyre!!!As a result we didn't manage to head out caching until close on 2pm. So we were pretty happy with a haul of 25 caches around the cycle trails here. We'll be back for the others another day. A quick find of a nice cache. Thanks for setting it up

27-Feb-24
Waiting for our plane, we searched some caches. Nice idea for this one. TFTC from germany Smile

20-Feb-24
Nope. Too clever for me today.

06-Jul-23
School holidays and time for a road trip to Auckland to visit family. Just dropped off friends at the airport, but still time for a bit of caching. Mr Rubbishparty had been here before, but sadly could not find the cache. Today Mrs Rubbishparty was onto it and spotted something a little different, so the sad face has become a smiley. Thanks for the clever cache

20-Jun-23
I was heading down from Paihia to the airport to collect my son after his yearlong overseas experience. I'm very excited to see him again. It was also a great chance to collect a bunch of caches for this sudden, one week long souvenir.

This was a fun find. I liked the idea so I took a photo in the view of attending a makers madness event in Whangarei this coming weekend. It might inspire someone.

Thanks for all your caches out here to fill in airport waitimes Smile

15-Apr-23
So lucky to have the place to ourselves as we search. A bug made its home in with the log book but luckily the log remains in the cache, even without the lid. Such a lovely spot for a walk. TFTC

01-Apr-23
Had a good look. No joy today

19-Mar-23
Glad we stuck around to eventually make a find here. Thanks for the challenge G2

16-Jan-23
Seem to be on a roll along here today. Stop and look hmmm is that it. Sure enough another tick off for the day. Missing lid but log seems to stay in there perfectly fine. Tftc.

Yes! this one was a toughie, spent a good 10 minutes scouring the area, the problem here is that the weather has washed up so many likely G-2 type paraphernalia on the rocks that I was sidetracked a bit.
I pretty much read most of the logs and was able to zero in on a likely area, from there it was a case of circling out till something sticks out as a likely candidate for a G-2 hide!
Very clever, well, simple, but effective.

01-Jan-23
OMG . . . . . . My geosenses were just not working well . . . . . Ph had me on other side of track, then I had an aha moment and went back to a spot and BOOM . . . . Found it. Lid missing from film canister but tis dry and ok. TFTC

28-May-22
We had a plan to tackle a different trail but Keylev couldn't commit a full day. So we decided to clean up this area and hopefully walk away with a decent cache count.

TFTC

A DNF last time I came, a very, very quick find today... Lid is missing, though, but all nice and dry otherwise.
Tftc

19-Mar-22
Spent a while searching for this one again today but just as we were about to give up we decided to check out one more place. A very smart hide. We had a laugh at this one. Blends in so well.

Brilliant hide

25-Jul-21
Coords were a bit off but reading past logs lead us to the most out of place objects

25-Jul-21
Sneaky hide this. It was one of the first things we saw but the coords were steering us a few meters away from it. Thanks!

11-Jun-21
Very cunning hide. TFTC

We found this cache during our holidays, when traveling around Auckland!
Thanks for showing!

Best regards bhudi from Germany

21-Feb-20
Reading some logs I was expecting something different so went right to it.

02-Jan-20
Decided to take advantage of the reasonably good weather and head out to complete Puketutu Island. Invited my youngest nephew to join me for some one-on-one caching. I gave him my GPS and let him be our navigator, which he thoroughly enjoyed. All up we located 20 caches, had 3 DNFs and walked 10km.

I spied something initially but ignored my intuition and kept searching. I then came back to this spot and upon closer examination the cache was discovered. Very sneaky.

19-Dec-19
I'm not sure how to even write a log about this one... we hunted for a while then sat back and thought, then we found it and it's awesome! Had me giggling for a while, very clever, fav point from me

02-Dec-19
Somehow my wife made quick work of this. Great hide.

05-Nov-19
Now that was a great hide, took a little while but found, Loved the condition of the log, with so many names on it, Must be nearly the original. TFTC

20-Aug-19
As soon as I saw it was a cach by Glyn I read no further, did not want to spoil a good hunt. As per the first cach I did from Glyn a worthy find. Thanks for the effort.

Oh no, no easy success for us here today. Reading the previous logs now that I am back home again, I have an idea where I should have looked more closely... But out in the field we didn't have enough patience to search thoroughly. Next time!

13-Jul-19
Used previous logs to find it, tftc

20-May-19
Noted this had 32 favourites but sadly I had no idea where to start. Will need to bring Mrs Rubbishparty for inspiration next time.

20-Apr-19
No luck today

05-Feb-19
Meanwhile this is my third geocaching-trip to Middle-Earth Smile. And I love it! [:X]
Still there are routes and places in this beautiful country that are on the 'discover-me' list and want to be visited and explored. Big Grin.
But AUCKLAND, the city of sails - my personal pearl [:X] - belongs to the favourite places ever since the first trip and is a steady ‘always’ visiting place Big Grin!
Day #14 was dedicated to the South of the city Smile. Some pre-solved mysteries and a few challenges wanted to be picked up, and also the body wanted to be walked a little Razz, garnished with some caches Big Grin.
So I happily drove and strolled around some nice places [^]:
Picked up the treasures as they occurred Wink - today not too fortunate, because there were some DNFs. Sad
Just like this one:
No found today... Sad
Anyway: Thanks to the owner and best regards from Germany! SmileSmile

29-Jan-19
No joy. I may need a new hobby.

30-Dec-18
Nice quick without any help from what I see now as a spoiler photo in a previous log.
Another classic from the master, thanks Glyn

01-Dec-18
Reading the logs was very helpful on this one. It had us a bit stumped, as I was thinking we should move on and retttempt it on the way back, but a phrase mentioned by a previous cacher piqued my interest and lead us to the find. Very sneaky!! We were expecting all the caches in this series by G2 to be this clever, haha. Great work. Cache is missing its lid, but no issues there, it's fine without it. Tftc Smile

01-Dec-18
This one caused quite a bit of pondering and trying things that weren't correct. It wasn't until we scrolled down to some really old logs that a simple phrased made us think of something we hadn't tried (enough) earlier. Very cleverly hidden, I'd say. Definitely a favourite point for me. I did enjoy the difference in difficulty of these caches. Really keeps you on your toes (and this tricky one made us overthink others - hahaha!).

05-Nov-18
New log sheet

23-Sep-18
Nice quick find on an early morning stroll.

05-Jul-18
Almost found straight away but then still trying to have GPSr settle down so looked in a number of other spots first. When I found this cache I kicked myself for not following my initial instincts. Great hide G-2! Think I may have to give this one an FP.

16-Jun-18
tftc for the nice wee hide found with abcdf4

I sussed out Air New Zealand Grab-a-seats from Palmy to Auckland and return last December, $19.00 each way, & paid with airpoints. Again two weeks later, another good deal for the following day. I headed out this way to find as many as possible in six-and-half hours (and walked past five or six caches on the way). Walked about 18 km's - found 20 caches (and had five DNF's). Weather forecasts for several days had been conflicting - but was very pleasant on the day, great for a long walk. My eyesight at present is not 100% (awaiting cataract procedure), and some caches took longer to locate than they should have. Good hide. Thanks G_2 for the cache.

06-Apr-18
Out gaining points for Planetary Pursuits challenge. This one took some time. My rock lifting arm sure got a workout until I started to use my brains instead of brawn. Favourite point from us. Clever hide G-2 very clever.

24-Mar-18
Visiting from Dunedin. After breakfast headed out for a walk and geocache or two. Great hide here. Watch out for the wasp nest very near to GZ. tftc

Dear Cache Owners,
I am a German guy who stays in New Zealand for eight months.
My English is not perfect, so please don't wonder if my log entries sound a bit strange. Thanks!

----------
This evening I made a Little hike together with thegreatauk in this area. We could find a couple of Geocaches while we walked belong the water.
Because of the two DNF's here, we discussed to give up, but then my Partner read something in the logs and we could find it. Cool!
Thanks for hiding!

Great camo as had me looking at bit longer than others. Gets a favorite point from me. Tft5

#4767. I have been up in Auckland for week on a field trip and now its almost time to head back south. But not before I manage to squeeze in two half days of geocaching in Auckland. Picked up a rental car late in the afternoon and had 4 hours to grab as many as I could before heading to my sisters place for the night. This area was close to the rental depot and had a bunch of caches that looked interesting for a pleasant evening walk. This trail was quite a long walk full of nicely crafted caches. No hint here but the information given was just enough to make this a quick find. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for the cache G--2. Certainly see why so many of your caches gets favourites. They are an eclectic mix of interesting and cunning hides.

05-Nov-17
Quick find here. Good quality caches here. Coordinates bang on. Well done TFTC! FP awarded for all caches here.

21-Oct-17
Very clever is all I can say. TFTC

09-Oct-17
With Gap (of Fap and Gap), and nerweed... A quick delivery trip to the airport.

We had plenty of time to spare before the plane departed. So we filled in time with a few random caches.

We were stumped last time we visited. But some reflection helped us to work out what we'd missed... No problem today! We knew exactly what to look for, and we weren't disappointed (even though the cache lid is missing)... TFTC.

09-Oct-17
Quick trip to Auckland airport and we decided to do a few caches nearby. So it was another grotty, plus a couple we had missed on a previous trip. Slowly getting the yellow smiley faces in the area. SLTFTC

24-Sep-17
Cache number 3492 and day 100 of my current streak. After dropping my brother at the airport I continued on to clear some of the caches in this area. A lovely spring day and a good day for a little bike ride. My GPS had me in a different place but after consider other CO caches and on surveying the area I saw something interesting. This proved to be correct and soon had log in hand. Thank you for the placement.

12-Sep-17
Had brought my bike this morning to help me get out here to grab a couple of these this morning. Struggled here for a while so cycled off to P-3 then came back. Decided that my gps was pointing me to the wrong place so read some previous logs and discovered a nice clue and went straight to it. Awesome camo. Deserves an FP. TFTC

25-Aug-17
A short cycle ride along a muddy track. I got very damp socks but had great fun with the hides.
This one took a few minutes dodging a lone muggle before I checked the correct item. Good hide this one but the bottom of the cache container is missing.
TFTC

01-Aug-17
Ok

10-Jul-17
Once my gps settled and I figured which side I needed to be on I had no problems with the find here. The lid is missing but the log is still ok.

08-Jul-17
Very clever, always enjoy the variety of G2 caches, cheers

20-May-17
Joined the early morning caching trip to Auckland with Cats&Dragons, 11hpg11 and RWIMF with logs signed as HOLD (Hamilton Overachieving Latte Drinkers), reflecting that the frequent requests for a (hot) coffee stop on a cold & then wet morning threatened to outnumber caches lol. Good to have several eyes & hands here, awesome TFTC Smile

20-May-17
Cool, wondered why that was there. Luckily someone else realised where the cache was. I was busy looking over by the fence, completely missing the signs. Stupid tunnel vision.
Out for a morning caching with Hamilton Overachieving Latte Drinkers, although we realised about half way through the morning only one of us could claim a Latte as our favourite caffinated beverage... We certainly spoke about hot drinks a lot on this trip as we froze in the cold weather. We left Hamilton at 5:30am this morning, and gave up when we were all sopping wet after several rain showers went over. Which was good - to collect over 40 caches, and still be home by 2pm! All logs signed HOLD to save space Smile

20-May-17
Out and about today for an early morning trip to Auckland to clear out some caches. An early start for us meant we were a little low in caffeine and hot drinks were on our minds. Our team today consisted of Cats&Dragons, Kiwis69, RWIMF and myself and logs were signed as HOLD (Hamilton Overachieving Latte Drinkers) or informally known as Steve and the Harem. Our day was cut short by persistent showers and an early afternoon time limit set by those at home who must be obeyed but we still got in a good handful of caches.

A very clever hide! Could have had us going for awhile but managed to get a bit of info from some previous logs that lead me straight to it.

25-Mar-17
We were lucky to spot this one as it is not where we expected it to be. Very cunning hide.
As a previous finder has said, the lid is missing so needs some maintenance but we replaced it as best we could.

02-Mar-17
Alas this one alluded us

28-Feb-17

Approached this one and made a quick find after initially peering at the wrong thing. Cache is missing its lid. Tftc

14-Jan-17
Clever camo! TFTC!

07-Jan-17
Quick find with eltee291! Could have been a lot tougher, just happened to check there right away. That was really cool, a favorite for sure! Really nice walk along this stretch. Was a pretty slow walk as we had arrived in Auckland at 530am after a 14 hour flight.None-the-less it was beautiful! Visiting from Victoria, BC, Canada. Signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache! Smile

07-Jan-17
Quick find today with hingis20. Excellent camo on this one. We decided to tackle this series today even though we haven't had any sleep after our 14 hour flight from Vancouver, BC, Canada. In NZ for three weeks to visit family and do some (a lot) of geocaching. Pretty quiet out here today. TFTC

20-Dec-16
With a long string of DNFs behind it... I thought I would suffer the same fate too, but after wandering around for goodness knows how long- Eureka! Yes, I struck upon the right idea and lifted the cache from its spot. My, my, so very clever! I must give an FP for this. TFTC!

07-Dec-16
DNF
Another DNF on this trail. No, no idea about this one.

03-Dec-16
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... In Auckland for a weekend of caching... It's all about the numbers, baby!!!

We met the lawnmower man exiting from the enclosure as we were preparing to walk out to this trail... He gave us an interesting account of 'what lies beneath'. Apparently, as a precaution, all personnel must be in sight of each other at all times. One time, a tractor and its driver sank into the ground... No doubt, he was up to his ears in the proverbial...

Are you kidding me? We had no idea what to look for here. This one had us defeated, and we walked away with our tail between our legs... It wasn't until we got home to the beach house and scrolled through this cache page that we had a moment of realisation... What a sneaky hide. We think we know where it is now!! And because of its sneakiness, I am awarding my first ever favourite point on a cache I haven't found yet... Go figure! TFTC.

12-Nov-16
Big, blue raincoat time !! [:o]
The forecast showers and rain had arrived,
and in with the cold, biting breeze driving the heavy shower towards me here,
I hurried up to find the cache Razz

No luck in the 10 minutes it took for the rain to reach me [:o]

I persisted !!
But after another 10 minutes,
I had to admit defeat Red Face
Even if I had found the cache,
I wouldn't have been able to sign the logbook with me frost-bitten fingers Wink

I headed for P5 where I found some welcome shelter from the wind and rain Big Grin

11-Nov-16
Tricky, but neat hide. Favourite from us

04-Nov-16
All good
